There was a message circulating some of our groups in Florida yesterday that spread incorrect information conerning the the ID needed to vote. We're going to clarify below.
A message from the Florida Campaign for Change chief election lawyer:
I am the Obama-Biden campaign’s chief election lawyer in Florida, and I have received the 'no match no vote' message from several sources. This message is categorically false. Our reading of the clear statutory language does NOT require that the address on the driver’s license (or other ID) that the voter presents at the polls match the voter’s address in the precinct register. Furthermore, this press release from the Florida Secretary of State definitively ccnfirms:http://www.dos.state.fl.us/news/communications/pressRelease/pressRelease.cfm?id=330 See the last bullet:· I.D. required and checked at the polls is used solely to confirm the voter’s identity. Not to verify the voter’s ID number or address. The photograph on the ID is compared to the person standing before the poll worker and the signature on the ID is compared to the signature on record.

Please join us on the Peace Corner (SW corner Glades Rd & St Andrews Blvd today from 11:30 AM to 12 and wave those Obama/Biden signs proudly!! We have signs we made up but feel free to bring your own hand made ones.
Also, if you can, there is canvassing today - after the sign waving go to Panera Bread in the Boca Center on Military Trail to get your packets.
There is less then two months until the election - we have to get going!!
I stopped by the new Delray Beach headquarters today(Military Tr north of Atlantic acrossed from Marios Market) and made 29 calls and recruited 5 volunteers! I challenge anyone who reads this to do the same or better. Now is the time!!
Dawn
I admit it - I'm an adict. I am a political junkie. I TIVO all the news programs and watch them all night, every night. BUT, after hearing about the Palin announcement, I did the happy dance and went about my day doing voter registration assured in the knowledge that this election was in the bag. I came back home, turned on the tv all excited to hear my thoughts reflected on all the news programs - NOT!
The fact that the corporate owned and operated networks have given this inexperienced woman credibility (asked if she was current on the situation in Georgia - she replied that she was - she was then asked if she knew what the capital of Georgia was and she said "It's Atlanta right?"!!) just slams the door on the fact of accurate reporting.
SO, what I am doing, and what I suggest to any of you who, like me, get all upset and can't sleep after hearing this kind of crap, is that you only watch certain news shows. I deleted from my TIVO all news shows except K.O. (of course!), Washington Week on PBS, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Bill Mahr. That's it - period. No more eating my guts out about something that was said on Morning Joe or any of the CNN news shows. No more - period!
It's official, Barack sent out the email this morning, did you get it?

There is a new party just listed which is at the new restaurant and bar at the Cove - hosted by Dr. Robert Watson's wife. The food & drinks are going to be 50% off!
If you are looking for an event to attend click on events and it isn't listed under our group click on events and put in your zip code - all the events around you are listed for you to chose from.
I watched tonight's faith forum and came away feeling great about my candidate. I also listened to McCain, cringed everytime he said "my friends" (like a million times!), thought his answering every question with a story about his experiences as a prisoner of war was a sympathy ploy, thought his saying the failure of his first marriage was disengenuous and I thought he was a scary guy!
So, then I listened to the commentary afterward and felt like a Martian! What did these people hear that I didn't - what were they not seeing in Obama that I was? I KNOW - the media is corporate owned and operated - I get that - but there were commentarors who usually are a little more balanced saying this stuff and that bothers me.
So, what I came away with is that we have to work twice as hard because our job is made all that more difficult because we are not just trying to beat McCain - we also have to work against the bias in the media.

Last night as I watched the speech by Barack Obama, having just clinched the nomination for the Democratic Party candidate, the only image that kept coming to my mind was that of the Obama logo. I understood it more than ever because it had become reality before our very eyes. Although it was night outside, there was a "new dawn" rising. A new dawn rising in the middle of the all encompassing darkness we have been living in for the past 8 years.
People, we are in for the ride of our lives, and it will take much hard work. Just stay focused on that "new dawn" for our country that is Obama, and we will make our dreams and hope reality.
YES WE CAN! OBAMA 08!!
Hi all,
The good thing about Hillary's behavior last night it that it turned even MSM commentators off the idea of the "dream ticket"
We are all for unity - but making Hillary VP would simply be stupid. It is clear that Hillary has tried everything to destroy Obama's chances in November. She and her campaign are acting as if they won the nomination. Now, they are arguing that without her - the Democrats lose.
These are nasty arguments which we and the Obama campaign must reject. As far as I'm concerned, Obama effectively won the nomination late February. Since then, Hillary has been fighting for VP or hoping for some catastrophe. She has put the Clinton name in disrepute with her antics, and weakened the Democrats chances in June, she cannot be rewarded for this with the VP position. Not only would I not want an administration with her as VP, I don't believe it can win.
They argue, recent primaries prove he needs her to win in November. In my opinion, not only had he effectively won late February, everyone accepted he had won after Indiana/ North Carolina, he went into General Election mode, so the last few primaries are not symbolic/relevant.
Obama can win with a team he picks. We must help him reject Hillary by making clear it is unacceptable. With his policies, his ability to unite and the economic problems the nation faces, he will win by a landslide. But only if the Clintons are way out of the picture. Hopefully, as McCain's VP or with Lieberman or something.
I found this petition which requests Obama not to pick Hillary for VP on the blogs. Obama asked for our help to rebuild the nation, he said he cannot do it alone, I think he may need our help to reject Hillary given the campaign to get her chosen as VP. Obviously I signed, and I hope you do too.

Can't wait for the speech tonight! This is so exciting!!!! Who is popping a bottle of champagne tonight?!?!?
It's been over 24 hours since attending the Rally in Sunrise, and I'm still feeling this overwhelming sense of happiness, hope and inspiration. The whole experience felt like being baptised and becoming one with all 16,000 people that were there. I don't think I have ever felt such an integral part of humanity as I did on Friday afternoon. There were people there of all races, all ages, all sexual preferences - yet we were truly one! I didn't see any racism or separation amongst those present. The typical feelings of "oh let me hang out over here with people like me" was not present there. We were all sitting or standing together, united in our support for a better future through our next President, Barack Obama.
