I have taken today off and am about to head out to the Maori Chief Hotel in South Melbourne to join ex-pat Americans and interested Aussies to watch the live coverage of the election results!
GOBAMA!
Here's HOPING!!
An editorial in a St Louis newspaper, the Post-Dispatch, which I came upon by chance, is the best summary I've seen to date of WHY we need to elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden!
It is concise, clear, cogent - and it covers it all in a perfectly-ststed way. To me, it says what I would like to be abl;e to express to anyone who asks why I support Obama.

I am trying hard to spread the word to my fellow Americans here in Australia that even if they have not yet received their absentee ballots, they can still vote by sending in a Federal Write-in Ballot. I didn't know about this option myself in the 2000 election, and so missed voting -and look what happened there!!!
I've sent out emails to the group lists of Americans which I know about, and in every case have received at least 5 or 6 replies from people saying "thanks - my ballot hasn't come yet, and I was worried but didn't know I could use this option!"

Where we stand now: The Obama campaign lists 30.5 delegates to go for Obama to secure the nomination on their blog posts; 29 to go on the website main page. Associated Press called the nomination for Obama at 1:40 today. The Clinton campaign called it a lie.

Sen. Barack Obama was on Fox News Sunday. Have you seen it?If you didn't, or perhaps if you did, you might enjoy reading the NY Times report on the interview. Obama held his own, and even got compliments. From Fox! Oddly, there is no video of the Obama interview on the Fox News website. Fox was so eager to interview Obama that Chris Wallace had a running clock counting the days since Obama promised to appear on his show. The Fox website even had a big news story saying Obama would appear. So where's the video? You'd expect Fox News to have a video of their own TV show. They definitely have a lot of other videos on the Fox News website, but I wasn't able to find the video of the Obama interview there. If you find a video of the Obama interview on the Fox News website, would you please send me the URL? Please send your name, too, so I can credit you for finding it. Meanwhile, I finally did find it on YouTube.
