A larger group met yesterday at the 5th Street Public Market in Eugene to discuss steps in becoming active in the campaign locally. Not only was Eugene represented, but individuals from Portland and surrounding areas also came down! Thanks for making the trip!
As a result of discssions at the meeting, two distinct focus areas emerged: fundraising and awareness. Two individuals stepped up to lead these efforts and will be using their considerable experience and expertise to help us become more effective in our efforts to help Senator Obama win the primary in Oregon and the presidency.
Others within the group offered to participate on either the fundraising team or the awareness team. Team leaders will be contacting those individuals over the next few weeks as plans develop. The intrepid travelers from Portland generously offered to serve as liasons between the Eugene and Portland groups, providng a critical connection between efforts in Oregon's two largest cities.
A new website was established as a result of last week's meeting of the Eugene/Springfield Professionals group and can be used to extend and deepen conversations about policy issues that are important to Eugene and Lane County. Of course the site is open to anyone who's interested regardless of where you may live:

It was an exciting meeting and we all seemed to leave energized and ready to begin active campaigning here in Oregon.
The next meeting was scheduled for 6:00pm April 3rd at Papa's Pizza Parlor on Coburg Road. The location was chosen to encourage families to attend and the time was moved to facilitate the working schedules of those who haven't had an opportunity to connect with any of the groups currently working in Eugene.
