Earth Day does make a difference.
Religious doctrine often tends to emphasize that ultimate human fulfillment begins at physical death. This thinking places a relatively diminished value on the physical planet, as merely a stepping stone, in the minds of many, and tragically, in the minds of our children.
I believe that the human animal had better learn how to be more symbiotic; otherwise, all life on Earth will suffer diminished livability as a result of ecosystem imbalance.
Clean, green Oregon can do more to show the world that we care about the Earth under our feet, here and now, and that the reward does not come at the end of the journey with pie in the sky. Rather, true fulfillment is only obtained when we think of each day on Earth as its own reward.
