This video is from Barack and explains the Bill Ayers issue. It is clear that McCain, Palin and the RNC are planning to paint Ayers as a terrorist and try to link him tightly with Barack. These are the facts. Barack was 8 when Ayers was participating in some deplorable acts during the Vietnam Era which was a time when there were a lot of radical movements and things happening. I am not defending Bill Ayers but this happened during a terrible time in our history and it was 40 years ago.Barack served on a board with Ayers which was appointed by a Republican. There is nothing here but we know they are going to try and make this look bad.On the other hand, McCain voted twice against stopping DOMESTIC TERRORISM. Watch this terrible video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDlpWfLyYssI guess he feels it was okay to BOMB medical clinics and kill doctors and patients! TERRORISM is terrorism and if the McCain camp wants to go there then I think we should bring this up. Just because McCain does not approve of a Women's Right to Choose does not mean it is OKAY to BOMB clinics and KILL doctors and patients. So, does the McCain camp really want to go here? They will and they will get away with it unless We all say ENOUGH and let him know WE know about his votes to stop actual terrorism HERE in the US.Come on Obama supporters. Barack and Joe need our help and full support in these final days! Both of them have the integrity and intelligence to lead us through this Crisis facing all of us. We have the power to stop this nonsense and we have the TRUTH and the FACTS on our side. Let's use them! Thanks,LuAnn in Indiana

If Palin gets VP talk about anti American! She is stirring up hate wherever she goes. We have to say Enough!
This is not acceptable!
http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2008/10/07/palins_unamerican/index.html
We don't not need hate and partisanship stirred up. Palin is stirring it and McCain is letting her run free with whatever she wants to say. This country needs to work together to get us out of this mess we are in. Barack is the only one who has the intelligence, knowledge, temperament and vision for that great future.Let's all help Barack and make sure all the slurs and hate stops!
Enough!
These are facts about McCain, his family, his life and all the mistruths that he likes to brag about. Please take the time to watch these and you may be shocked.People everywhere have the right to know these things about John McCain. He is no maverick. He would be a disaster as President. He is strictly out for John McCain and has proven he will say or do anything to get elected. Please help Barack and share these facts. McCain’s campaign is getting nastier.
Thanks, LuAnn

1%, or 1 vote out of 100There have been 12 Presidential elections that were decided by less than a 1% margin; meaning if less than 1% of the voters in certain states had changed their mind to the other candidate the outcome of the entire election would have been different. More than half were decided by less than a 2% margin.
In 2004, 57,787 votes would have given us President Kerry. In 2000, 269 votes would have given us President GoreIn 1996, 575,515 votes would have given us President Dole.

=========="Squeakers"Ned PotterABC NewsSeptember 29, 2008How close have Presidential elections been? Closer, perhaps, than we ever guessed. Mike Sheppard, a grad student in statistics at Michigan State, has done a mathematical exercise that shows it.He ran a computer program to answer this question: "What is the smallest number of total votes that need to be switched from one candidate to another, and from which states, to affect the outcome of the election?"The answer: in some years, very, very few. Take a look at his analysis HERE. It shows the powerful interaction between the popular vote and the electoral college.[...]==========

I am not sure if you got to see Barack on the Letterman show last night but he was fantastic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hf6qd8b65s
I just posted this video on the DIGG site and really would appreciate you going there and digging it.
I took a swipe at McCain and how his VP pick was strictly a political move and how Barack vetted Joe and made "HIS OWN DECISION".
If we can get enough Diggs on it it will possibly be in the top 10 of the day and everyone will see it.
It would be super exposure for Barack as he commented on the stupid "lipstick on a pig" controversy and made some other great comments on several things. He showed both Humor and also made some great POLITICAL points!
Please take a minute, watch the video and PLEASE go to DIGG.com and digg it. The Republicans have been burrying some of our good stories on the DIGG site so PLEASE help!
The USA Today/Gallup poll today shows McCain with a 4 point lead at 50%-46% witha a margin of error at +/- 3 points. This tells us that the post-convention bounce won't reach its full effect till probably tomorrow. We have work to do people. The RNC and McCain campaign's constant harping about media bias has been paying off in the fact that the major networks are now ignoring the questions about Sarah Palin's stands on major issues and their lack of access to her and the issue of McCain's post-2000 election fip-flopping on nearly every major issue as to match up with the base of the party. Look tonight for any stories on the network news shows about the army od lawyers the McCain has sent to Alaska to stop the "Troopergate" investigation. Keith Olbermann has been removed as the lead anchor of MSNBC's election and debate coverage after Republican complaints!
Write to the networks, email them, blog about them and call your newspapers and TV stations. The corporate power of the Republican Party is on display folks and we need to combat this. Barack told us this election is about us and we have to do are part! Here is a media list that you can use:

O.K. Let me get this straight…. Obama was raised by a single mother, worked hard, earned himself a good education, worked his way up by reaching back to help those less fortunate, has been scrutinized for the past two years by both Democrats and Republicans, and even walked into O’Reilly’s lair and faced him head on, without one shred of wrongdoing found. Unless you count beliefs and opinions expressed by someone he knew, not himself. He has delivered speech after speech, traveling the land telling people everything they want to know. He is an open book, disclosing everything he’s been asked to disclose. He’s been endorsed by some of the greatest leaders of our time. Yet, people feel they don’t really know who he is.
A pretty, white woman, on the other hand, whose name we had never heard before last week, comes on the scene and is immediately accepted as the “darling” of the Republican party. Let’s see, there were questions about her ties with the Alaskan Independence Party (“ties“ meaning, they say she was a member, McCain‘s camp says she wasn‘t), an investigation into the firing of her ex-brother-in-law, she fired a librarian when she was Mayor of Wasilla for refusing to ban books, the “Bridge to Nowhere,” not to mention what’s going on in her family life. Interesting though, that the Republicans used to blame parents who allowed their teen daughters to get pregnant (I believe Bill O’Reilly called them “pinheads”) but now the Palin’s are facing problems “just like us.” And if we’re going to raise the issue of what ministers say, Palin’s church has a campaign to “Pray Away the Gay.” Wow!! That’s a lot of scandal for someone who isn’t even in office yet, and who we’ve only known the name of for a little over a week.
Are Americans so desperate to keep a black man with an odd name out of the white house, that a self-righteous beauty queen with a journalism degree makes a good alternative? (I am not putting down journalism degrees. Just saying that if these are the qualifications for a Vice President, we all probably personally know about 10 people that could run for office.) In this campaign, we’ve talked about racism, sexism, ageism, and McCain even played the scar card. I believe McCain is a bitter old man, who believes he is entitled to this presidency because of what he went through in Vietnam.
I have heard people say they won’t vote for Obama because there’s just something about him they don’t trust. I have heard them say he’s the anti-Christ… (?????) And of course, the emails insist he’s Muslim. Giuliani stated that the words “Islamic Terrorist” were not mentioned during the DNC, as if Dems were afraid of offending them. Funny, I didn’t hear the Republicans mention health care or the middle class, but I did hear Palin make fun of volunteers and grassroots social reformers. Talk about offensive!
Cindy McCain stepped on stage in an outfit that costs six times what my family of four lives on annually. What do these people know about the average struggling family? Now, I’m not saying Obama is our messiah, as the Republicans like to ridicule. But if America votes McCain into the White House, we deserve everything we get.
Why is it that Barack Obama can run for office for 2 years, give 3 major speeches, publish 2 bestselling books about his life and beliefs, set up the most interactive website in the history of politics where you can find his stance on all the major issues and people will still say they are not sure who he is or what he stands for? Yet we can be introduced to Sarah Palin in a 58 minute speech and suddenly everyone in America feels they know her? A 58 minute speech filled with typical party lines and attacks and suddenly America knows her? She and John McCain are perfect running mates. Both are eager for power and will stop at nothing to get it. Let me explain.
Let's look at Sarah Palin first. The Alaskan governor has a past that has hardly even began to be examined. Even before she took the stage at the RNC, we had heard about "Troopergate". We heard that her own mother-in-law wasn't sure what she could bring to the job and that she herself was considering voting for Barack Obama. We heard from Sarah herself that she wasn't sure what the Vice-President did. But it is Anne Kilkenny that sounded the first real alarm. Mrs. Kilkenny lives in Wasilla, Alaska and has known Governor Palin since 1992. She attended nearly every city council meeting during Palin's tenure as mayor. In an email to friends and relatives that has since made it's way onto the web (www.adn.com/letteraboutpalin), among other things she shoots down the image of Palin as a fiscal conservative and a consensus builder. She says that Palin left Wasilla in debt, was intolerant of divergent opinions and "has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to help her".
It goes deeper with Governor Palin. In 1996 she attempted to have certain books banned from the town library. When the librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, refused, Palin attempted to fire her. After a wave of public support, she relented and Emmons was allowed to keep her job and no books were banned. As Governor, we know that she attempted to have her ex-brother-in-law fired from the state police and when this failed, she fired the head of the Alaskan State Police. She denies this but emails and subpoenas have already shown this is not true. The Alaskan Legislature is in the midst of a special investigation but as we speak, lawyers that have the blessing of the McCain campaign are in Alaska attempting to have the head of the investigation removed and either a republican put in his place or the investigation dropped all together. Governor Palin is the member of a church that is right now having a conference to help pray gay people back to a straight lifestyle! Governor Palin supported a bill to overturn a court decision to block state benefits for the gay partners of state employees. She then vetoed the bill only after the state attorney general told her it was unconstitutional.
John McCain is a man that simply sees the Presidency as his right. John McCain was at one time a "maverick" who did ruffle the Republican party and stood for something. Yet in the end, none of that mattered in the pursuit of power. He preached to us about ethics but was a member of the "Keating Five" during the Savings and Loan scandal of the 1980's and was reprimanded by the US Senate for "showing poor judgement". After fighting President Bush tooth and nail and being savaged personally and politically by them, he changed his stance on nearly every major issue to match theirs and voted with the President nearly 90% of the time. The man who once stood for something now stands for nothing but getting elected to the highest office in the land.
John McCain had his chance to stand for something and change America. He was rejected by his own party in 2000, and turned down an even greater chance to do so in 2004 when he turned down John Kerry's request to be his Vice-President. McCain is all for bipartisanship but only if he is in charge. No, he sold his soul and all his beliefs to Bush and Rove to be president. He claims Obama to be a novice then promptly chooses a person with no experience to be the mythical heartbeat away from the presidency. He said he knows nothing of the fundamentals of the economy in a time when the unemployment rate is rising and foreclosures are swallowing up the middle class homeowners. He said he believed the middle class was people who made under $5,000,000. The McCain campaign wants us to trust the next 4 years to a man and woman who have stopped at nothing to get what they want. Is this what America needs?
Do auto workers in Michigan looking for work need this? Do retirees in Florida need this? Do the single moms in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia need this? We do need a change. We need a new idea, a fresh approach. But most of all we need a man who knows that it is the power of the people, people from every walk of life, religion and political party that will change this country. A man of intelligence and sound judgement. We need a man who understands what it is to be poor and who has had to work for everything and then who turned around and gave back to his community and country. We need a man that had to work for his education not one who was a child of privilege who earned his because his father and grandfather were people of importance. We need someone who stands for something; we need Barack Obama.

TIME MAGAZINE:Angry AmateursPosted by Joe Klein | Comments (383) | Permalink | Trackbacks (0) | Email This The story of the day out here in Minneapolis is the McCain campaign's war against the press. This has been building for some time. Those of us who have criticized the candidate--and especially those of us who enjoyed good relations with McCain in the past--have been subject to off-the-record browbeating and attempted bullying all year. But things have gotten much worse in recent days: there was McCain's rude, bizarre interview with Time Magazine last week. Yesterday, McCain refused to an interview with Larry King, for God's sake, because Campbell Brown had been caught in the commission of journalism on CNN the night before, asking McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds what decisions Sarah Palin had made as commander-in-chief of the Alaska national guard. (There was an answer that the unprepared Bounds didn't have: she had deployed them to fight fires.)So what's going on here? Two things. McCain is just plain angry at us. By the evidence presented in the utterly revealing Time interview, he's ballistic. This is a politician who needs to see himself as the man on the white horse, boldly traversing a muddy field...any intimations that he's gotten muddied in the process, or has decided to throw mud, are intolerable. The second thing is more insidious: Steve Schmidt has decided, for tactical reasons, to slime the press. He wants the public to believe that there is an unfair--sexist (you gotta love it)--personal assault going on against Palin and her family. This is a smokescreen, intended to divert attention from the very real and responsible vetting that is taking place in the media--about the substance of Palin's record as mayor and governor. Sure, there are a few outliers--and the tabloid press--who have fixed on baby stories. That was inevitable....the flip side of the personal stories that the McCain team thought would work to their advantage--Palin's moose-hunting and wolf-shooting, and her admirable decision to have a Down Syndrome baby. And yes, when we all fix on the same story, whether it's a hurricane or a little-known politician, a zoo ensues. But the media coverage of the Palin story has been well within the bounds of responsibility. Schmidt is trying to make it seem otherwise, a desperate tactic. - Wasn’t the podium at the DNC round and really close to the delegates, giving a warm, accessible feel? That was the impression I got anyway. Looking at the RNC podium, I see an elevated rectangular shape that looks like a defensive perimeter. Queen Palin appeared to be waving down on her subjects.
- Not a lot of faces of color in the RNC crowd. That place is as white as Casper the Friendly Ghost’s backside.
- I am hearing a lot about “changing Washington”. Hello, you are the party that has been in charge of Washington for the last 8 years. You have changed it alright. You are technically campaigning against yourself.
- I had to listen to Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani’s speeches on NPR as I was returning from a funeral visitation. I will say Rudy had a crowd wanting to be fired up and he gave them what they wanted. And in the process, he demonstrated all that is wrong to me with big time politics. “America’s Mayor” slammed the entire culture of “Community Organizers” who work tirelessly to make their cities a better place to live and help those who need it to fight for a better wage or a job in general; Community Organizers who work every day to improve the lives of those less fortunate and give their voices a chance to be heard. Rudy belittled them for the sake of political theater. He lied about tax increases and insinuated that Barack Obama was a Muslim. Feel free to disagree but even the eastern Kentucky Republican riding with us agreed that he did. Rudy is best known for cleaning up NYC and his handling of post 9/11 events. But let’s not forget that before 9/11 Rudy was being discussed for his extramarital “activities” more than anything. And yes, he did improve NYC’s image but ask the gay community about His Honor. It was their civil liberties among others he didn’t seem to care to trample on.
As for Governor Huckabee, I have to say that I was disappointed in him. I expected a higher tone from a preacher. A just for the record Governor, Joe Biden received more votes running for President than Sarah Palin received running for mayor. Biden received 79,754 votes. Wasilla has a little over 5,000 people in it I believe. If everyone in town voted for her for 10 years, then yes they would beat Biden’s total. Here’s an idea reverend, pretend its dollars in a collection plate and do the math that way. I’m sure you’d get the total in a nano second. Now having said that, I will not be shocked to see Chuck Norris standing at my door tonight to round house kick me. Not one bit.
- I get to see the coming out party of Sarah Palin live. I am shocked that after having to listen to Rudy, I didn’t slam my car into a rock wall. My poor wife still looks ill.
- I was a bit shocked at Queen Palin’s speech to be honest. No play for the Clinton voters here. She went right on the attack after Obama and Biden. She delivered her speech well, hit her applause lines. The coaching paid off for her as did all the beauty contests. She seemed to be running more as a wife would than a Vice-President. She seemed to be offering an alternative to Michelle Obama.
- The Talking Heads have said that this is the most conservative Republican delegation ever and I believe Palin is their new star. I felt they were embracing her because she is not McCain. They don’t love their war hero that much.
- Get off the experience issue guys. Palin has some experience true but guess what? She is running to be Vice-President. Obama, McCain and Biden have exactly the same amount of executive experience: zero. Chant that at John Thursday!!
- If kids are off limits then why did Governor Palin out her 17 year old pregnant daughter and then send her to the airport to meet and greet a delegation? Can’t have it both ways Queen Palin.
- Mark Warner did us a disservice at the DNC as a keynote speaker.
- Palin appears to be the RNC’s Obama. Please Barack, stay out of the fight with her and unleash Hillary on her. Please!!
- Governor Plain, you took the gloves off last night. October 2nd you get to take on Joe Biden head-to head. If Joe doesn’t chew you up and spit you out, then he and Barack don’t deserve to win.
- When did the RNC gain a monopoly on Christianity and service? They have lots of good Christian love and pride especially in their veterans but where are they when those vets come home to horrid medical facilities and little to no help with post war needs? Top of the line prosthetics? Sorry, not in the budget. Job training? Pull your self up by your boot straps but we’ll cheer for you at the parades when you are in uniform. Hypocrites! You make me sick.
When I watched the Democratic National Convention, especially in the end, I felt uplifted. I felt a huge weight being lifted off my back. I felt inspired. I felt patriotic. I felt hopeful. I felt determined. I felt ready for action. I guess that’s how the Republicans feel now, on day four of the Republican National Convention. But not me. I just feel sick.
Injustices have always infuriated me. Hypocrites have always infuriated me. The Republican party showcases them both. I have never seen a more hateful, fear-promoting, lying, insulting, condescending, sneering, arrogant, malicious, pious group of people. All in the name of God and country. For the life of me, I can’t understand why the word “Republican” has become synonymous with the word “Christian.” Republicans do not have the monopoly on moral values just because they are Pro-Life and Anti-Gay Rights. They do not have the monopoly on patriotism just because they sing the Star-Spangled Banner and clap for veterans. They do not have a concise plan for improving the daily lives of millions of Americans just because they insult and belittle the ideas of Democrats. What they are is desperate, and what they should be is ashamed.
These people shouldn’t call themselves “Christians.”

The RNC was in full swing last night and I have to say the event moved me. It moved me to anger and a rage I hadn't felt in a few days (Republicans have that effect on me). I wanted to watch to have a proper perspective of both sides of the issue, to better understand the people I wanted to move from power. Walk a mile in the other guys shoes, so to speak. What I saw was more of the same old song and dance that we have become so familiar with over the last eight years. I saw President Bush in his full Technicolor color glory take credit for the storm management that should have been in place for Katrina and yell "9/11" so we would be good and scared and vote McCain. I smiled when he endorsed Senator McCain as "ready to lead". "W"'s endorsement of anyone's leadership ability is NOT going to inspire great faith in me; just the opposite. I actually felt better about our chances in November that. But then there was Joe... Joe Lieberman took the stage and the sick feeling hit me. Before he even spoke I thought of the 2000 election when the Vice -Presidency was taken from him, where he was viscously attacked by the right over and over and yet here he stood to praise his friend (I can live with that) and to rip our candidate (I CAN NOT live with that). He did both effectively and was by far the best speaker of the night, upstaging the man whose giant head had hovered over the same stage earlier.
Joe Lieberman is a bitter, petty little man. Defeated in his own Democratic primary, he ran as an independent and defeated the man who had beaten him in the primary by, in no small part, singing the praises of Senator Obama. He still votes with the Democrats but openly lobbied to be the Republican Vice-President. Joe urged us to put aside party and do what was best for the country and yet he stands there jabbing at the Democratic party because of a perceived lack of respect and betrayal. He'll go back to Florida and work just like he did in 200 to secure the state for McCain. He'll show us and be the "power behind the throne" when McCain is elected.
Senator Lieberman is a prime example of the old way of thinking in Washington. No true beliefs, no caring about the good of the nation, just an attitude of "what is in it for me". It is my opinion the Senator was motivated by two of the oldest factors we know of: power and revenge. Our movement is trying to carve a new way, a new path back to the ideas that made us great. There is no room for the Joe Lieberman's.
A relative of mine frequently sents out anti-Obama E-mail hoaxes. Now she has a Trojan virus on her computer. I know it came from one of these hoax E-mail forwards with an attachment. Right after she sent this particular E-mail another relatives of mine got a virus warning from the same E-Mail. Just to be safe everyone should delete email forwards with attachments without opening them.
I'm sure that her computer virus came from an E-mail she forwarded called "Expose Obama". That's really too bad and I hate that she's having trouble. Anyway, I cut and pasted the warning that another relative passed along:
There was a trojan in this message please check your computers. I sent this too Barack and staff but please sjare it with everyone else!
I am writing this as to alert you and the Barack team of what I have been hearing through my many groups and blog sites.I am hoping this helps in some small way.
Our country needs Barack NOW!
Sincerely.

Thanks for the warning, Kelin.
I'm a retiree of HP and can tell you first hand Fiorini is smart, cunning, Republican to the core, knows how to knife her opponent. My coworkers and myself all knew she would end up in the Republican political machine - and sure enough.
When she rears her very attractive, very ugly head - watch out. She pretends to be feminist; she is NOT. Like I suspect Palin (else why would she accept putting this country at such risk with her meager background), Fiorini is power hungry. I hope the campaign, including Barack's spokepeople - get your message. LJ

Get ready people. On a side not Carville did get Fiorini to admit...McPOW has met this lady ONCE!

When I first heard of this nomination, I was slightly amused at the desperate tactics John McCain is using. Then I thought about it. Obviously, it is offensive that he would nominate an unheard-of-in-the-lower-48 woman as a ploy to woo Hillary's supporters. Hillary's backers are not ignorant enough to vote for just ANY woman. Palin is no Hillary Clinton. In fact, she's the anti-Hillary... which may delight Republicans, but will deter Clinton supporters who are voting on the issues that Clinton has worked so hard for.
I believe the bigger issue is the practicality of this nomination in terms of Palin's ability to be a good V.P. and the mother of a special needs infant. Both callings require total involvement and a tremendous amount of time and attention. I understand that some will feel this makes her a better advocate for people with special needs. But speaking as a former mental health case manager for people with disabilities, I feel that she is exploiting this four-month-old by dragging it around the country, holding it up as the proof that she is absolutely pro-life.
Abortion has always been, and will continue to be, an unsettled debate. The Republicans, with this nomination, have once again brought the topic to the forefront in an effort to distract the American people from what has been truly negatively affecting their daily lives for the past eight years. The middle class is becoming the working poor. We continue to spend billions on a war that Bush lied to us about and called us unpatriotic for questioning. He has completely isolated us politically from the rest of the world. And all the while, more people have to choose between buying medicine or food or gas. Dreams like college and home ownership and retirement have been pushed further out of reach.
I will proudly be blue in a red state. Obama makes me believe, for the first time in a long time, that things are not so bleak and that America can be restored. If nothing else, his vision has inspired millions of Americans to also believe and, more importantly, to get involved in their communities and make the change happen. Call it disillusion or naivety, but Obama’s movement makes me want to do community service. And there’s nothing bad about that.
