I am writing today to propose an EARTH AMENDMENT to the constitution of the United States that will define fundamental principles in our relationship to our planet.
Instead of a Right, this a Principle: Congress shall make no laws that endangers or allow to deteriorate the health of Earth's ecosystem.
The United States shall endeavour to optimize the relationship between the Earth and its population so that all can thrive in a sustainable manner for the foreseeable future.
A cabinet position to the Environment shall be established to administer all questions of energy, land management and resources.
I came home from the polls last evening -- exhausted but knowing that my energy would be revived once I began seeing the results come in...and, WE WON! Oh, my God! WE WON! All the talking, and walking, and calling, hoping and praying...it all paid off. I am just so glad to be alive to see this day and will honor the sacrifices that all my ancestors have made that came before me. Those who were not even counted as human beings -- let alone citizens. Now, their suffering and death has been vindicated. As President-Elect Obama spoke last night, in my spirit, I could feel my parents crying and rejoicing. He stood for every black man who had been beaten down or lynched over the past 200 years. He spoke not just for every black person who had no voice -- but for every sick and homeless child and every refugee who has run for safety in an abandoned stretch of nowhere land, for every heart that had lost hope.
I am grateful that I could hear and the words will ring over and over in my mind. I truly hope that those words will rise up and bless you whenever you need to know that you too, should run on again and again as you too can win. You have what it takes when you have the love and concern for your people at heart. I am so very happy for Kenya and Kenyans and will work to do all in my power to use Peace Of the World International to bring whatever we can bring to the table. Aside from my personal love for Kenya, POWI is my gift to that segment of the Obama peace campaign.
Hope + work = success! Congratulations to all of us!

Joe the unlicensed Plumber is pushing the limits of his fifteen minutes, and yet McCain accuses the Obama campaign of invading his privacy. The entire Joe the Plumber premise is built on a lie, and now the lies continue. Joe - while admitting that he has no basis for his foreign policy opinions - agrees that a vote for Obama/Biden will mean "... death to Israel..."?
Spread the truth and watch this video from Israelis4Obama.

Even Shepard Smith thinks the tenor of the campaign has exceeded all reason and the bounds of civility.

It is simple folks, if we show up on November 4th we win, if we stay home we lose.
Muslim Soldier’s grave at Arlington – this is the image cited by Gen Collin Powell in his endorsement of Obama and opposing bigotry in this election cycle and the attacks being made against Obama.

Her fellow members of Congress need to take a stand and tell Michele Bachmann that her disgusting accusations have no place in our country. Tell Congress to censure Rep. Bachmann.
Having watched the last in the series of the Debating season and the subsequent spin, I was somewhat apoplectic to realize the fact that we may be the only democracy in the world where the politics centrifuges so heavily on the abortion issue and gravitates so heavily on the judicial appointments.
After 15 th reference to JOE THE PLUMBER by Sen.McCain, I came to realize that he was trying to KILL A MOSQUITO WITH A CANNON.
I am self employed and pay almost $10,000 dollars a year in health care costs for my family with a renewal cost increase slated at 10% and yet in the current economic condition, I can't bring myself to empathize with Joe or resonate with John's commentary on the subject. I applaud Sen.Obama's approach to Healthcare not withstanding that it has room for improvement.
I wish Joe all the luck in his entrepreneurial effort as I have been through the process a number of times and have truly appreciated this country for the chances it provides to such people WITHOUT HAVING TO PUT A POLITICAL SPIN ON IT.
Based on my experience , in projecting for a start up BUSINESS, health care cost is a crucial component of the economies of scale in consideration but not the paramount one. I for one, don't consider Joe the Plumber's situation as the middle classe's strife as emphatically pressed on by Sen.McCain.
The current economic crisis is far more bleak than Joe's situation. As a small business steward, my pressing concerns are whether I will be able to sustain my business with impending crisis in the economy, what will be the adverse effects to my staff and me. Will we be able to provide the basic essentials to our families such as food, shelter and education for our children near and long term?
Most Americans are not concerned with Taxes at the moment but are more anxious to know whether they will have a job or means to support the FAMILY. YES, we are in favor of more refined tax code that recognizes the trials and tribulations of the middle class in our country. Most middle americans that I know do not complain about taxes but about opportunities both missed and lack there of.
In a wide diaspora that is our country, our politicians should seize the chance to unite a nation ailing in spirits rather than fragmentize the already low morale by amplifying the SOCIO CULTURAL differences and attempting to widen the divide. What makes this country the greatest of all is that despite our cultural and ethnic differences, WE ARE ALL AMERICANS. No other country in the world offers that to different population segments. I have the confidence that we will over come the obstacles we face and to facilitate that we will make the right decision to elect the person who understands the middle class and its difficulties without the talking points because he is the MIDDLE CLASS AMERICAN WHO EPITOMIZES THAT THIS COUNTRY REWARDS ALL THOSE WHO WORK HARD BY EXTENDING THE CHANCE TO SUCCEED. In my humble opinion that person is :
BARACK OBAMA.
There is an insidious, dangerous and deliberate undercurrent feeding debates about sub-prime lending practices in the halls of congress. On Thursday, Sept. 25, Rep. Michele Bachman (R-Minnesota, 6th Dist.) submitted into record a statement that "blacks" and "other minorities" abused protections provided by the Community Reinvestment Act resulting in the collapse of the housing market. In spite of a lack of evidence to support this pernicious claim, this charge - initially limited to the right-wing talk radio arena - has been given platform by calculating members of congress whose aim it is to distract voters from the real cause of our economic collapse (DEREGULATION) while fanning the flames of a smoldering culture war.
Weigh in and email the House Minority Leader, Rep. John Boehner, or better yet, send a clear message and support Rep. Bachman's opponent.

Yes we can!
Why is it that when McCain switches policies, it is considered statesmanship and when Sen.Obama revises his; it is Flip Flop.
Being able to examine, adapt & change stances on issues is a required trait for a politician whether inherent and acquired. A true leader is required to change the platform he stands on in the interest of the people he/she is serving. No policy matter should be personal as exhibited by George HW & son. since personal agendas tend to gravitate towards resorting to undesirable methods for implementation and execution such as fabrication, mis information, outright lies, intimidation and bullying.
Sen. Obama has made the correct choice in proposing to allow limited off-shore drilling to circumvent the present oil situation and I agree that it is not permanent solution. A comprehensive Energy policy has to implemented to include energy awareness, alternate sources, alter consumption patterns and independence from foreign oil.
I applaud Sen. Obama's revision to this policy, this denotes his ability to understand and empathize with the common people of his country.
Is Sen. Obama a celebrity? Definitely so ! So have been many emminent politicians of the past who have become celelebrated with high stature of statesmanship, diplomatic and leadership skills.Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, Nelson Mandela, Winston Churchill,FDR & JFK to name a few. I am privilaged that Sen.McCain's team puts Sen. Obama on the same plateau with these politicians.
Somehow using the same word in line with "EMPTY" and drawing comparisions with Paris and Brittany is an act of desparation . You are comparing a distinguished presidential candidate who is a self made man with teenagers who have gone astray and have not been able to handle limelight and the pressure of scrutiny & publicity extended to them owing to their status. Even my 9 year old son understands the difference in the accomplishments of the two sets of people.
Do they believe these wild round houses to connect anywhere with an Electorate that is disenchanted with the current Economic conditions.
Frankly Speaking, if Paris Hilton was running against McCain this season on a platform of Change from the Staus quo, she would have MY VOTE on the basis of voting against the system.
Hello Team Obama,
I know that most of us have our ideas of the Dem Dream Team and Schweitzer is my first choice for VP.
Governor Schweitzer of Montana should be considered as a good running mate for Barack Obama. It would indeed increase the chances of at least 16 years of Dems in the Presidency.
Many times I have listened to Governor Schweitzer being interviewed and I like him as a possible running mate for Barack.
He would also fit in with Turning-the-Page on the Old Washington Politics and provide a solid boost Western Strategy.
Schweitzer is independent soul, funny, from an ordinary working background and has emphasized energy independency as way to promote development. He also lives a life that is not too different from Barack and most ordinary folks.
He is a strong advocate for ordinary working people and working across party lines.
Schweitzer is also strong on agriculture, the issue of food self-sufficiency, and community development
Most important of all to me, like Obama, Gov. Schweitzer is a leader with a global perspective ingrained in his DNA. Schweitzer has lived abroad (Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and in the Middle East Saudi Arabia - personally I am biased to Africa here) for long periods and would therefore appreciate how the rest of the world lives. Imagine also a Vice President who speaks fluent Arabic in addition to other languages!
Please Team Obama, give some serious thought to Obama/Schweitzer 08
Ps. I am sure that the first VP choice (the 82 year-old Ms Weiss from NC would approve of Obama/Schweitzer 08) since he is actively concerned with environment, agriculture and water and these are some of the issues Ms Weiss was concerned about. Remember Ms Weis?
I like this title from Crawford's artilce: "Senator Obama Has Replaced Clintons As Boss Of Party".
The day after, I really, really, realy ...(really to infinity) like the fact that Senator Obama is by all intent and purposes the head of all Dems.
By default, the argument should be that the People and not the Lobbyists are in charge of the Democratic Party!
What a classy and genuine, humble, and realistic individual Senator Obama is and will continue to be. What a priviledge to be lead by someone of immense talent and personal integrity.
I have no doubt that the Democratic Party will benefit from the leadership of Senator Obama (soon to be President Obama) since his central focus is inclusion, with the people as a focus.
Obama surely emphasizes the concept of Team Building from the ground up.
One thing that this primary has demonstrated is one candidate who focuses on I (me, my legacy, may ambition) and another who focuses on We (We The People).
Obama's campaign has been about Team Obama and I am glad to see that the Team won because the challenge of governing this nation (and the world) will be about the American Team and the Global Team putting together all their collective efforts.
The DNC through the RBC chose the future and People's Movement over the party's dynasty and by God I love the new dynamics.
Lets get to work to make the possibility a reality that the 44th POTUS will be President Barack Obama.
