Barack is asking us to stay in the game…it is only the beginning!!!
If you have not yet signed up to attend one of the 4,000 + "Change is Coming" events around the country, it's not too late.
Hi ~ I so look forward to seeing you tomorrow night.
This gathering will be a celebration of our historic victory against politics as usual, and a festive holiday diner party.
After so many months of hard work attending meetings, canvassing, making phone calls, writing checks, traveling to other states,
and pressing for change in America, it is still surreal that we did it...and you made it happened,
you are responsible for this extraordinary historic experience called:
Barack is our next president!
Nikki Sutton and the transition team is in place and running. They want to hear from us regarding details on issues that are important to each one of us.
Barack is calling for community organizers all over the country to continue establishing relationships with local elected officials to press for change.
He has requested we take on a community service project before inauguration day to let them know we are not going away.
Bring your ideas to the party.
Also, we will be playing "Dirty Grab", a gift exchange game. If you would like to join in, bring a wrapped gift.
Recycled presents are encouraged, shop in your own closet. Gift to be $15 or less in value.
Barry and I will be cooking for you tomorrow and we are delighted you have signed up to attend.

"We are one people, and our time for change has come!"
~ Barack Obama
Hi ~ Barry and I just got back from a moveon.org gathering aimed at keeping the momentum of the campaign moving.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/25714894@N08/
We have accomplished so much by getting Obama elected, but like Barack told us, the job is not done. We need to continue to pressure our elected representatives to support the changes that we aspire to. MoveOn is organizing a campaign to send 100's of thousands of photos of real Americans holding signs declaring "I Stand with Obama for" ... (Clean Energy, Health Care, Ending the War in Iraq, Diplomacy, or your own issue). The plan is to send thousands of photos to Congress, etc. and to plaster DC with select photos to let people know that this movement is not going to lay down. Let me know if you want to get involved in this effort.

Thank you OFA fellow community organizers....we are almost there!
But today there is still a few more things you can do to help finish the job until the polls close.
Your "Precinct Chair" has a list of folks in your precinct that have not yet come to the polls, this is a great opportunity.
If you do not know who your precinct chair is, here is how to find him or her in Houston: http://www.hcdp.org/precinctchairs.php
Contact your precinct chair and see what you can do to help.
Our neighborhood last night only had a list of about 100 folks that had not voted yet. Split the list with other community organizers in your area and call these folks or put a reminder to vote today on their door!
Ken from the DNC has vote reminder lit at our OFA Headquarters - 4300 Lyons Houston 77020, we must GOTV!!!
Another option if you would like to volunteer today, you can be an Obama Precinct Captain by standing outside your polling location wearing your Obama gear ready to greet voters.
Remember, these are your neighbors and if lines are long tonight they may be encouraged to stay if they see you there.
During the Primary some of the folks that came to vote stayed with us for part of the day.
If standing and greeting is not your thing, MyBO will be updating the battleground state calling list throughout the day.
The campaing is planning to post the names and numbers of specific pockets of voters in strategic battleground areas that have not made it to the polls.
This you can do in the comfort of your own home. Also there are busy call banking locations all over town, you may want to find one near you and bring snacks or drink to the volunteers.
The Harris County Democratic Party is phonebanking today, and also OFA has several locations, here is how to find an OFA call banking location near you in Houston: http://gotv.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gpvvv4
In a few hours we will know who the next president will be, Obama and his campaing strategists had a plan for this election, they did a great job mobilizing folks, and you did the rest.
My heartfelt thanks for all you have done so far and will do today.
Feel free to email me or call anytime today.
With Obama Love,
Hey Guys,
We are almost to the end of this incredible journey…..I have had the time of my life with you!
We have made so many great friends all across the country, good people brought together by Barack Obama and this "Change" thing.
My heartfelt thanks to you for your precious contribution to this terrific effort, your friendship, and love. Thanks for all you are doing!!!
I know there are many parties, and fancy get-together plans around town for after the closing of the polls on Nov 4th, but I hope you will stop by and have one last dance with me to the "Thunder" of DJ Mark Anthony.
Please join us at the OFA Houston Headquarters, 4300 Lyons for one last "Staff Meeting", you know how I love meetings... and Election Celebration!!!

Obama '08, America Can't Wait!!!
It appears that not accepting public financing may have been a mistake by Sen. Obama. I suspected that he was having fundraising trouuble and might continue to have trouble when his and the DNC's numbers for July were released. They were virtually the same as the June numbers which showed me that Hillary donors had still not opened up their wallets/checkbooks. Preliminary reports are that he raised about $60 million in August but the DNC's numbers were lower in August than July. Ordiinarily those would still be outstanding numbers. But for Sen. Obama/the DNC to stay even with or exceed the McCain/RNC cash on hand,Obama/DNC should be raising $100+ million a month and they've yet to come close to that. Yesterday it was reported that Sen. Obama would be attending a big fundraiser in Beverly Hills.CA on Sept. 16th. It made me sick to hear that. Any time spent at fundraisers between now and 11/4 is time that could've been spent in NH.Ohio,Virginia,Colorado,Nevada,Michigan or Pennsylvania.
I 'm sure that most bloggers on this site are also donors and some have given more than their fair share already, but the more we give, the less time Sen. Obama will have to spend on fundraising activities. I've committed to give more this month than I did in June,July and August and try to match this month's donation in October. Who'll join me?
We all gotta give more. . Y'all help spread the word to the Groups you've joined

Houston delegates prep for Democratic convention; witness to history12:36 AM CDT on Thursday, August 21, 2008
HOUSTON -- The credentials around Raphus Foley's neck are like a political trip back in time. The one from July 16, 1992 still looks official, but clearly tells its age.
It was the same convention where Texas Gov. Ann Richards made her famous “Poor George,” speech directed at George H. W. Bush. It was the same year Bill Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination for the presidency.
Foley, who has been to three nominating conventions, remembers 1992 vividly.
“I didn't want to laugh (at Richards comments), but I had to. I had to,” said Foley.
Now Foley is headed out again. This time to Denver to help Sen. Barack Obama secure the nomination.
“I'm going to do all I can to help him win and then some,” said Foley.
There will be 228 delegates from Texas in Denver when the Democratic convention starts next week. Many of the Houston contingent got together Wednesday night for a meet and greet and are anxious for what lies ahead.
“I'm really fired up and looking for a great convention where the whole party comes together,” said delegate Bill Galbraith.
It's no secret this convention has historical significance as Obama is about to become – officially – the first African-American to be a major party nominee for president. For Foley, though, it's much more.
It's personal. Something he never thought he would witness in his lifetime.
“I think he can be one of the best presidents we ever had,” said Foley.
That's why he is doing what he can to make his fourth convention, the one to remember.

The last I heard Sen. Obama's campaign had 1.7 million individual donors and that was sometime in June. Surely some of those are donors who have already given the maximum amount allowed by law. I think it's safe to guess, however, that most are smaller donors like myself.
In the primaries/caucuses,Sen. Obama often said that he had 1.5 million individual donors and their average donation was $109/person. I was a Hillary supporter in the primaries/caucuses. After the primary campaign ended and Hillary announced the suspension of her campaign the following Saturday,I made my first donation to the Obama campaign. I wonder how many other Hillary supporters have made donations to Sen. Obama? I also wonder how many new individual donors have been added to the list since the primary/caucus campaign ended? In June,I donated $65 to Sen. Obama and made a $44 merchandise order from the ObamaStore($65 + $44 = $109). So far,I've donated $75 this month to Sen. Obama's campaign and I may make a smaller one at the end of the month. I plan to donate a minimum of $65 per month in August,September and October. I plan to do some other things to help his campaign too.
If just 1 million of us donate $50 and a little time each month from July-October,we can free Sen. Obama from fundraising duties/activities and and truly make his POTUS campaign a grassroots effort.
I'm 49 and this is the first time I've ever donated money to a POTUS candidate and been involved in his/her campaign to this extent. I understand the importance of and the stakes in the upcoming election. It's been an exciting and historic campaign so far and I'm savoring every day of it.
