I wanted to write this and tell everyone that I am through with this stuff! The Obama administration has taken a giant leap from its campaign promise of bipartisanship to direct and unopposed partisanship in which the first sign was the stimulus bill. This bill was written by the most liberal Congressman in the house, Congressman David Obey from Wisconsin. Where was the Bipartisanship? There was no consultation of Republicans on the matter. It was simply rammed down their throats. The Budget goes against the Idea of Deficit cutting. It increases it further beyond the Bush era. We continue to devalue our own currency by printing money that we dont have. My friends I joined the campaign on the premise that there would be something new happening in the politics of Washington. I joined the Democratic Party on the premise that we could have someone sensible in the office who does work well with others who are across the aisle. But instead he takes the hands off approach to congressional politics and allows his own party to continue to run their extremist liberal Agenda to spend more, tax more, and hand control of the economy over to the Government more. I have been a Democrat since the General Election of 2000 when I switched from Republican to Democrat to vote for Al Gore. At this point I no longer feel at home in the extremist Liberal party of America otherwise known as "the Democratic Party!"
This is why I am considering the switch to the Republican Party. What are your thoughts?
I am thrilled right now.
This guy sums up many of my thoughts on musings on the way to a decision for a Presidential pick.
On TV, in my email box, and on the subway, everyone is abuzz with the “lipstick on a pig” story. If you think Sen. Obama was describing Sarah Palin, you haven’t been paying attention. If you want a story to get your dander up, well, here you go.
In an election year marked by the issues of war, housing, global warming, the threat of peak oil, healthcare, Social Security, why are we wasting the time and talent of our journalists, bloggers and candidates on such silliness? I for one would rather discuss the issues, and I would like to think the rest of America would as well. But there must be an audience, or they wouldn’t keep rehashing the story.
Maybe some voters always think “this is the most serious election ever”. But when we are dealing with the issues I listed above, I see how it could be anything but serious.
It is my intent to have this be the only post about the “lipstick” story. I refuse to give it the dignity of any more.
Focus people. Focus.
First, some background: I am a Christian. I was a registered Republican since 2000 (I switched to Democrat this year). I still consider myself to be a fiscal and moral conservative.
I love politics; I’m addicted to the news during political seasons. However this year, I gave serious thought to not voting. I recently read Jesus for President by Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw, and was very challenged by their premise that political involvement is NOT a requirement of Christian life. Many conservatives seem to feel differently. They seem to think that an R behind a name or a pro-life record automatically confers the approval of God.
I used to think that way. Don’t get me wrong- I see the value of voting pro-life. Abortion is a terrible thing. But so are war, the death penalty and poverty. We moral conservatives should be giving them as much weight as abortion. The Democrats address these issues much better.
So, I chose to switch my affiliation to Democrat for the primaries (as PA primaries are by party) and to no longer be a one issue voter. This year, I am trying to see the whole picture. I am researching and reading. And this has led me to Barack Obama.
Hi. I would like to volunteer my time as a web designer or graphic artist. I am open to working with any organization or group could use some of my skills for free. I can do brochures, ebooks, electronic files, pdf files, websites, blogs, news feeds, email marketing, web marketing etc. The limit is that it will have to be a pro Obama pro democrat website or anything related.
I live in Hawaii so I think this state is already a gimme for Obama. I'd like to participate with the campaigning thats going on in the mainland especially those red states. If your interested in my help please shot me a message. I don't know how the turn out will be whether someone out there can use me. But if I have to many offers please don't take it personally if I turn you down.
Aloha,
According to a new analysis by the Tax Policy Center, a joint project of the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain are both proposing tax plans that would result in cuts for most American families. Obama's plan gives the biggest cuts to those who make the least, while McCain would give the largest cuts to the very wealthy. For the approximately 147,000 families that make up the top 0.1 percent of the income scale, the difference between the two plans is stark. While McCain offers a $269,364 tax cut, Obama would raise their taxes, on average, by $701,885 - a difference of nearly $1 million.
Ok I have had enough of these false accusations and lies thats coming from the McCain camp. I would like to encourage Obama and his camp to fight back these smears in a truthful and honest way. Call out McCain in public and to denounce his lies in front of the media. The American people need to know that they are lies -- and that they can look up the issues in detail at fightthesmears.com.
Obama also needs to unify his surrogates talking points on these smears. Allow them to talk back and to use what ever necessary in fighting these smears. They don't need to attack McCain or even counter a lie with another. But they also need to be able to talk back in a truthful, honest way that is unified as well as simplified for voters. They need to constantly hammer McCain and his camp for lying. Don't be afraid to call it for what it is.
We only need to look back in 2000 and 2004 on how these smears help to elect Bush. Do we want the same thing to happen to Obama? Do we want another McBush in office with the same ole' tired politics as before? I surely don't and can't afford to. Therefore, I'm more than willing to stand against these false accusations and lies.
Obama needs to start debunking all these lies and should not ignore them. There are many ways in fighting back and should use all our expertise and passion to do so. People like me I know are sick and tired of it. Maybe we can launch a petition showing and exposing these lies to the American public? Call out McCain to prove that his lies has truth and merit.
So I make a plea to those in the Obama camp. Don't let these smears go un-ignored. Allow others to fight for Obama and to help stamp out these smears for him. Together we can beat the evil that is smothering our country.
I for one ain't too thrilled with McCain's economic plan. This isn't just my bias talking. But my commonsense telling me that this is exactly just like Bush's and Reagan's economic plan. It its! His plan is nothing more than "trickle down" economics. How this works is to give tax breaks and credits to large corporations which in turn are supposed to take those profits and reinvest it back into company via more workers and infrastructure. Unfortunately, what these corporations did was invest those profits into shipping their entire operations overseas to China or to Mexico. They took those same profits and placed it into Swiss bank accounts or they just used it to form another corporation. Very little of that money of that money got into teh hands of the hardworking Americans who were dedicated to those companies that hired them. Some lost their jobs to these overseas venture.
McCain's plan does have an energy plan. But I think his leaning more towards nuclear energy, which is very expensive and I think will take longer to implement than wind, solar, and clean burning coal. I do like nuclear power. But I don't think its the best alternative fuel source.
McCain has stated his all for free trade and his a big time NAFTA supporter. I for one do not like NAFTA. I think there is too many loopholes there that will allow the big corporations to move their factories overseas and will allow for them to flood our markets with cheap crap. That is what's happening in China right now. These are the same corporations that profited from the "trickle down" policies of the Reagan and Bush II years and now they are flooding our markets with cheap crap.
I think thats unfair for those true blue American corporations that stayed at home and gave jobs to many Americans. I think this is where we need to really focus our attention right now in the economy. But with McCain's plan, this will continue on just like with what Bush is doing.
So thats about what I think the McCain plan is all about. Same old Republican style rich get richer policies. We can't afford this style of economy. The middle class won't have money to save and there will be too few dollars chasing too many overseas goods which don't help our country. I think we need more regulations and oversight and start making our economy more fair and balanced when it comes to trade.
Right now, I see a whole bunch of shifting to the middle on both sides. Barack is trying to shift to the right a bit to win over independents to which he is not. he was doing better before he tried to shift. Why is it that when the primaries are over both sides try to shift to the middle? Maybe they have no alternative. Barack Obama was doing much better with independents before the shift. I do not see Barack Obama as alienating the core of his followers with this but it does give the news media some things to bite at. John McCain on the other hand is encountering resistance from his own party. He is helping us out while doing so becoming the McCain of 2000 and starting to win over independents. They are the core group to win in order to secure the white house. Any thoughts on what we can do as a movement to stop the pandering to the middle and stick to what works best, Being the candidate for change! ?
From the San Francisco Chronicle ...
The link below is from CNN. It appears that Hillbully and her people are pushing hard to be on the ticket with Senator Obama. I pray this doesn't happen, otherwise my vote and the votes of others I know who support Obama will go elsewhere. This terrible woman should never be on the ticket...period.
