BEWARE...
ABSENTEE BALLOT POSTAGE DIFFERS FROM COUNTY TO COUNTY Absentee Ballots vary from county to county in most states. Here is Broward county, Florida the ballot will cost $1.17 to mail back. This all depends on how many "extras" the county has on the ballot. This translates into extra ballot pages in the packet, thereby creating a higher than usual postage. Most states should have the postage required, printed on the instructional page of the ballot packet. Here in Broward County, the pages are printed in black ink but the postage requirement on that instructional page is printed in red ink.
If yours does not have the postage listed, please take the ballot INTO the nearest post office so that they can properly weight the envelope and apply correct postage.

Thanks,
Please write your senators/congressmen regarding the proposed bailout. Below is the letter I sent to my representatives. Thanks! -PaulDear Senator,
I urge you to vote NO on the Wall Street bailout package. Please consider and propose the following alternative as a solution to this financial crisis. I suggest taking the $700 billion and simply give it to struggling homeowners to help them pay off part of their mortgages. This hasn't even been discussed and is a much better alternative to the current plan. If the root of the problem is people not being able to pay off their mortgages, and those defaults then devaluing banks' mortgage-backed assets, then simply helping people pay their mortgages would preserve the value of the mortgage-backed assets and recharge the market with liquidity. That would be a bottom-up solution helping the mass public, rather than a top-down move helping only financial industry executives. Some may argue that giving any relief to homeowners is "unfair" in that those homeowners created their problems, so why should taxpayers have to help them? But then, is helping homeowners any less fair than simply giving all the money away to Wall Street, no strings attached? I say no - and helping homeowners also serves a second purpose: namely, keeping people in their homes, which not only helps them, but helps an entire neighborhood (as any homeowner knows, nearby properties can be devalued when foreclosures hit).
Sincerely,Paul RihaniColumbia, MD
I am sure you have all heard about the inane uproar over Obama’s “Lipstick on a pig “comment. The McCain campaign, feigning disgust, demanded an immediate apology from Barack Obama for calling Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin a pig. In their rush to outrage, the McCain campaign apparently forgot that McCain himself used that analogy while discussing Hillary Clinton’s health care plan late last year. Apparently they either think she is a pig or they need Ginkgo Biloba. They also apparently misremembered that former McCain press secretary Torie Clarke has penned the book “Lipstick on a Pig”.
So assuming the McCain campaign is correct and both Sens. Obama and McCain refer to women as pigs I wanted to find out just how rampant this Women as Pigs movement has become. Naturally I started at http://www.lipstickonapig.com/ . And imagine my horror at finding out that even Evangelicals are getting in on the Women are Pigs bandwagon:
For the past 3-4 years, Lipstick on a Pig has been an avenue for me to develop my skills as I worked toward the goal of doing design work full time. During this time, I have slowly discovered my passion and ultimately, what I feel is God's purpose for my life. Design as a ministry. I want to give back to the Lord using my time and talents by helping churches, ministries, charities, etc. with their design and website needs. Of course, I love all types of design work, so please let me know if I can be of service to you with your design needs.
So apparently God feels that his purpose is to degrade women in such a cold, callous and sexist way. My fake outrage grows stronger by the second!
The madness has even infiltrated our beloved library system as apparent in Roy Tennant’s scathingly sexist piece for the Library Journal entitled “Digital Libraries: ‘Lipstick on a Pig’” Apparently Mr. Tennant is not the only sexist librarian as he describes here:
I am not the only one frustrated with the current state of our integrated library systems (ILS). North Carolina State University's Andrew Pace (from whom I first heard the "lipstick on a pig" reference) and others have been bemoaning the sad state of systems. We should listen.
No we should NOT listen to your sexist rants!!!! Now I am just as frustrated with the current state of our integrated library systems (ILS) as the next guy but referring to women as pigs is a line I refuse to cross!
I have to admit when I first decided to research this topic; I never realized the depth to which sexist librarians, Evangelical web designers and others will sink. This is truly eye opening. I figured I would find that it was just a harmless colloquial expression used by normal people from all walks of life. How wrong I was!
In similar news Wilbur, Homer Zuckerman’s award winning pig, has also asked the Obama Campaign for an apology. “Anyone who knows me knows that I am SOME PIG.” Declared Wilbur from his pile of filth out by the Zuckerman barn, “And for Obama to compare me to some gun toting, polar bear hating, bridge to nowhere loving then hating, pot smoking then hating, global warming denying, wife of a drunken separatist? There’s just no call for that and I demand an immediate and total apology.”
As of press time, neither the McCain campaign nor Wilbur has received an apology. But I don’t know why I would expect them to. Any such apology would be like putting lipstick on a pig.

The Fall '08 College semester has already started in many states this week. Please email to EVERYONE in your address book and ask them to do the same. IMPORTANT REMINDER: College students We must remind all college students that IF they are away from home attending college on election day, they must be registered to vote at THEIR LEGAL RESIDENCES. If they are still registered at home, THEY MUST OBTAIN an absentee ballot and mail it EARLY to their home state. A first class stamp is required. IF THEY NOW LEGALLY RESIDE IN THE STATE OF THEIR COLLEGE, they have to change their voter registration to their current address (away at college) BY FILLING OUT A NEW VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATION and *** RENEWING THEIR DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH THEIR NEW ADDRESS. ***Driver's License ADDRESS changes, in SOME states, MAY not be necessary. PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR INDIVIDUAL STATE. Many college students wait until the last minute to make the necessary changes and consequently are unable to vote. Please pass this along to all college age students. NOTE: This IMPORTANT REMINDER will be posted on most threads over the next few months. Thanks all, Bonnie

In a recent press release McCain said the following:
"But there are also stark contrasts between myself and Senator Obama. I intend to keep my promise of accepting federal funds for the general election. Senator Obama has chosen to break the promise he made many times before and will opt out of accepting these funds. I am a man of my word and I intend to honor the promises I have made during this campaign."
Obama has always said he would not accept federal funds for the general election. McCain cannot keep anything straight. He scares me. What if he accidently pushed the nuclear button because he thought the wrong thing. We need to keep this guy out of the White house and out of Politics. - IMHO.
McCain just released his McCain nation web site (http://www.johnmccain.com/McCainNation/). I guess it is never too late to join the online generation. The site is pathetic and does not hold a candle to what Obama has created.
I really feel McCain just does not understand todays world or technology. Obama has made use of technology, very effectively in my opinion, to join so many of us together and given us a place to vent the good, the bad and the...
First the New Yroker published an inflammatory magazine cover of Barack & Michelle Obama.
Now Vanity Fair has Published a Spoof of that cover with McCain and Cindy, it shows Cindy holding a hand full of perscription drugs.
For a good laugh go to:

McCain and his people do not have a political leg to stand on. Now they are attacking the fact that every news outlet (except Fox or course) is endorsing Obama and that he is very popular internationally.
View the really dumb video they put together. They are getting really despirate.

For nearly two years detractors have accused Barack Obama of being a Muslim. Ultra-conservative commentators have referred to him as B. Hussein Obama and deliberately likened his surname to bin Laden’s first name Osama.
He has defended himself while also condemning the prejudice toward Muslims these acts reflect. As a presidential candidate he has stumped relentlessly on unity, equality and justice.
So to hear of him snubbing two Muslim women at a Detroit political rally in June rang dissonant. In case you missed the incident, I’ll explain.
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 7/18/2008) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on presidential candidate John McCain to repudiate remarks seemingly made on his behalf by a GOP spokesman during a campaign call in Florida.
On a conference call with journalists arranged by the Republican Party of Florida, Bud Day reportedly said: “The Muslims have said either we kneel or they're going to kill us... I don't intend to kneel and I don't advocate to anybody that we kneel, and John doesn't advocate to anybody that we kneel.”
