GOVERNOR
ATTEST:
SECRETARY OF STATE
This is a message sent to me from WonderlandPR and I thought you might like to see it:
Barack Obama, beyond the rare repertoire of roaring rhetoric and retort, beyond the sweeping scope of policy and polemics, there is a man, who, once upon a time was a boy, raised by Toot and her husband, Barack's maternal grandparents.
Now, Toot, Mrs. Dunham, is in need of the man we all have entrusted to guide our American family into its precarious future, as she lies in precarious health.
From his departure from the critical campaign, we who have worked for and with Barack for all these months, know that very little can stop Barack.
Do you remember him being sick and off the trail? No. Do you remember the times he had to leave the campaign to tend to a daughters' crisis? No. Did you ever see him explode in anger or breakdown in frustration? No.
Now this.
So we know that Barack's humanity, his very humannessm is being called by the call to return to Hawaii and Toot.
I must admit I have prayed for an intervention to give Barack some respite from the slings and arrows of the last weeks of the nasty campaign by McCain en company, but I did not pray for this.
God works in mysterious ways. Perhaps this is an answered prayer.
I hope you might join me in wishing Barack Godspeed to Toot's side and that he is restored in his pending sorrow by the loving supporters that so many of us have become.
We ARE all in this together. Never have those words been more true.
Please let's make an effort to fill the crater of space that Barack leaves as he leaves to be with Toot before they must leave each other for all times.
And, if anyone sees or hears Palin or McCain grinding Barack down while Obama tends to the call that comes to us all, PLEASE FIGHT THE SMEARS AND MAKE THEM WISH THEY HAD NEVER OPENED THEIR MOUTHS AT A TIME LIKE THIS.
We all owe Toot our honoring prayers, as she vitally helped shape the man who, if we work our butts off, will be our next President. As Barack has said, she poured everything she had into him, and now we pour our hearts out for them both.

I think that Florida has MAJOR issues. I was out and about today with my husband, being his day off. We stopped to have a drink at a local bar in Longwood, Florida. In the same town, there is a bar for sale that my husband and I have expressed some interest in purchasing. Immediately, we were discouraged from doing so - due to the current state of the economy. I stated that I would certainly wait until after November and see that Obama was elected before making a final decision. The hostility and anger that met me was unexpected and vicious. I was called disparaging names such as n*gger lover, Muslim lover, terrorist and communist. Everyone within range of the conversation actually got involved, berated me and then left to sit elsewhere - where they continued snide remarks from afar.
If this is the way Republicans/McCain supporters conduct themselves and think, it makes me even prouder to be a Democrat and Obama/Biden supporter.
Against too many odds, I left. Yes, I feel smaller for having done so, but against so many.....I can only imagine what Barack goes through on a daily basis. He has earned an even greater respect in my eyes as of today. My family of three shall be casting our votes for Obama in November!
Later, speaking with a woman whom has chosen an alternative lifestyle, she encouraged me to continue my pursuit to see Barack in the White House. I found strength in her support - although my decision about whom to cast my vote for never wavered - despite the prejudices I encountered.
I pray that my revelations encourage others to stand strong in their decision to see Barack elected our next President and to encourage others to do the same.
Respectfully,
Ellen N.
Kurt and the army of Obama Volunteers got it done last weekend! Here's Kurt's note:
Republicans: Make up your minds.
For two days, the chorus from Republicans on TV news and in the halls of the convention has been resounding: Back off and let the Palin family be. "That's out of bounds," said Minnesota's Republican governor, Tim Pawlenty. "There's no need to be intrusive and pry into that."
Yet Wednesday found the following scenes unfolding:
Sarah Palin's pregnant, unmarried 17-year-old daughter and probable future son-in-law stood in a nationally televised, politically packaged airport receiving line to meet and greet the Republican candidate for president.
The extremely cute and bubbly Piper Palin, 7, made her debut on her mother's behalf, appearing in a video on John McCain's daughter's blog. "Vote for my mommy and John McCain," she said, giggling as Meghan McCain grinned.
Bristol Palin and her 18-year-old boyfriend, Levi Johnston, sat and held hands as they watched the Alaska governor deliver an acceptance speech that, in its opening minutes, focused heavily on her family and children. Later, the family — including Johnston — ascended the stage, basked in an extended ovation and waved.
Huh? The Republican message about the Palin offspring comes across as contradictory: Hey, media, leave those kids alone — so we can use them as we see fit.
If you doubt this scenario, consider this: On Wednesday morning, a teenage boy from Alaska stood in a receiving line on an airport tarmac, being glad-handed by the potential next president of the United States — because he got his girlfriend pregnant. TV cameras were lined up in advance. The mind boggles.
"Either the children are out of bounds, and you don't put them in the photo ops, or you don't complain when somebody wants to talk about them. You can't have it both ways," said John Matviko, a professor at West Liberty State College in West Virginia and editor of "The American President in Popular Culture."
"Right now, it looks like they're being used by the campaign more than the media are using them," he said.
Though candidates for national office, and those close to them, are under more intense scrutiny than ever before in the American information culture, there is more to this situation than simple celebrity chasing.
These are two young people trying to figure out what to do in a difficult personal situation. The global scrutiny of it is a teenager's worst nightmare, and under normal circumstances they would be allowed to find their way unbothered.
But one big obstacle stands in their way: Sarah Palin the candidate.
Not to mention - Have you ever seen an 18 year old boy with a more uncomfortable look on this face? How sad for the entire Republican party...especially the Palin children and Levi.
All right New Smyrna for Obama, let's give Barack a 'start to the convention' boost!
Our group page fundraising 'Thermometer' needs a boost as well so let's dig it up for Barack and show our support for those at the convention from those of us that can't be there.
Please go to our group fundraising page, http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/maingroup/newsmyrnaforobama and add some $$ for Barack.
Remember to click on the 'Donate' button in the 'Thermometer' box and not the top one so the group gets the thermometer moving upward!
Michelle will be great tonight as the keynote speaker for the convention,, I'm watching. If you can't get it on MSM, PBS will be carrying it.
YES WE CAN!!
Sandra Bernard-Bastien – Historian, Coral Springs
“I was thrilled to receive my text message this morning. I believe a selection like this demonstrates Senator Barack Obama’s good judgment. Senator Joe Biden is an accomplished, extremely bright and talented public servant.”
Elaine Bloom – former State Representative & former Hillary Clinton supporter, Miami Beach
“Joe Biden is a superb choice for V.P.! He has a proven record of real leadership and extensive foreign policy experience. I’m sure that those concerned about Israel’s safety and security will be totally comfortable, as I am, with Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden in the White House.”
Jeremy Branch – Jackson County Commissioner, Grand Rdige
“Senator Obama and Senator Biden may have different backgrounds but they share the quintessential American story. Obama was raised by a poor single mom and his grandparents. Biden was born of humble roots into a working class family in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Both men believe in the strength of the American family and take pride in their faith and values. Senators Obama and Biden understand the challenges working families face today, and that is exactly the kind of leadership and change that we need.”
Luis Garcia - State Representative, Little Havana
“I am thrilled with Senator Obama’s selection of Joe Biden, who I have admired for over 25 years. He’s somebody that won’t be bullied by anybody. Senator Biden walks the walk and talks the talk – a defender of America’s working families and a proponent of freedom everywhere. In South Florida, I know that the diverse Hispanic, Jewish and Caribbean constituencies will see Senator Biden as a perfect compliment for this campaign to bring change.”
Luis Garcia - Representante Estatal, La Pequeña Havana
“Estoy muy entusiasmado de que el senador Obama escogió a Joe Biden, una persona que he admirado por más de 25 años. Él no será intimidado por nadie. El senador Biden practica lo que predica-es un defensor de las familias trabajadoras en este país y proponente de libertad por todo el mundo. En el sur de La Florida, yo se que los diversos grupos como los hispanos, judíos y caribeños verán al senador Biden como perfecta adición a la campaña para lograr el cambio.”
Edna LaRoche – President, Haitian American Democratic Club, Miramar
“I am an enthusiastic and excited Democrat today! Senator Obama has totally hit the ball out of the park with this choice. Thank God, we are on our way to the White House.”
Mike Novosel, Jr. – CW4 U.S. Army (Ret.), Fort Walton Beach
“Besides being an expert on foreign policy, Joe Biden is a father who raised his children to love and serve their country. As a military family member, Joe Biden understands the challenges and fears that all military families face. His son volunteered to serve his country and will shortly be deployed to Iraq. I applaud Senator Obama for his decision to choose this fine patriot! He is my choice, too.”

From the Obama Action Wire:
Yesterday, you learned about the right-wing's latest attack: extremist Jerome Corsi and his book of the same old smears and lies.Today, you can take the next step.Tackle this smear campaign head on. The Obama research team released a 41-page rebuttal called "Unfit for Publication," refuting Corsi's rehashed distortions point-by-point, leaving no smear unanswered.Arm yourself with the facts and write a letter to your local newspapers telling them to do their job by debunking this kind of garbage. The media are not playing their role as watchdogs. In fact, they are fanning the flames of controversy and legitimizing a discredited political bottom-feeder.Take action now and tell the media to report the truth, not debunked lies and smears that are unfit for publication:http://my.barackobama.com/unfit4publicationThe right-wing smear machine is in full force -- blasting out Corsi's stale fabrications far and wide to a media that's so far been eager to pick them up. In just three days, Corsi's made front page news in both the New York Times and Washington Post. We've posted the full truth online so you have the tools to fight back in your community and local papers. Can you write a letter to the editor exposing Jerome Corsi and his book for what they really are -- another hack job by a desperate right-wing fabricator? In 2004, Corsi helped launch the Swift Boat smear campaign with a book of distortions and lies he wrote about John Kerry. This time we won't be Swift Boated.Keep up the good fight,

Zogby’s latest poll shows that Senator Obama clearly has a Florida problem. The question is, what is he going to do about it?
