I participated in a Camp Obama NY phone bank this evening held at the Teamster's Union building on 14th Street in Manhattan. I made about 23 calls to people who had signed up for the Camp Obama NY trainings. Jason and Ben were there from our Camp Obama training as well as other familiar faces. There are training sessions every weekend from Sept. 6th through the first weekend in October.

West Chester University is as diverse ethnically as it is politically. I've been posted in front of the Student Union building in the morning and part of the early afternoon for the past 2 days and and will be there for the rest of this week and next.
In the afternoon from about 3pm to 6pm, I'm on the phones trying to gather volunteers for phone banks and weekend events. It's a busy headquarters with several very dedicated volunteers from all over.
Tomorrow I will also begin doing data entry in the evenings.
I hope all my fellow Camp Obama grads have been as well situated and have had as much support as I have had. It is important to work with enthusiastic people here in these battle ground States where McCain signs are everywhere - even on campus.
I'm wondering why no one in the media, new or old, has asked why Palin's 17 year old daughter wasn't using BC? If, as I suspect, she is the product of Abstinence Only Until Marriage education then the answer is pretty obvious. Lots of data to support the claim that when teens, who have only had abstinence education, start to behave on their sexuality they often do it without consideration of avoiding STI's or pregnancy.
I'm also somewhat surprised that the assertion the expectant couple are to marry soon seems to have mulified any reaction. That, of course, is not the point.
1. Where did you get my # from?
A: We get it from your states election board and is public data. in case they ask you about the do not call list, please make sure you know the law by asking the local Field officer for local laws
2. How do I know you are from the Obama's Campaign?
A. Be upfront and tell them that you are a Volunteer from NY. Talk about where the office is located (i.e Across from JC Penny on Main Street) to give them a sense of confidence that you are familiar with their neighborhood. Know that they will be getting calls from many other campaigns and will assume they are all from the Obama Campaign, even though they are not. Organizations like ACT, MOveON and others will be calling on the same people you will, specially as it gets close to Nov 4th
3. I don't vote for people who support "X"?
A. DIffuse the sitiation by talking about something very tangible like the economy and how Barack's economic plan will help them. Do not get in an argument or try to convince them. If they are absolute in their view, just thank them and get off the phone
4. Where do I go and Vote?
A. Make sure you know this and ask the Local Field Officer for the info. www.voteforchange.com
5. Create a Cheat sheet for yourself on issues to help you talk about the polivy positions in brief. Many of these may exist on the open web
