I just had a neighbor come to the door who is out talking to people about Obama. She knows my political leanings so she chose me first to practice on. In the course of our conversation, she mentioned something that seemed encouraging to me. It was about the polls that we see every day.
The pollsters get their data from calling people on the telephone. I don't know where they get their information, but it seemed to us that many people are possibly being left out of the polls if they don't have land line telephones. I have four children and they all have cell phones and no land lines at all. They are also Obama supporters. Is it possible that they are being left out of the polls for this reason? That would give a skewed view of what the polls indicate.
Can anyone give me more information on this subject?
Sally
As the title suggests, I am really frightened that somehow McCain and Palin are going to pull the wool over enough people's eyes that they will end up in the Offices of President and Vice-President. To me that is a fate worse than death, I am afraid of what will happen to the economy, health care, energy (Drill, baby drill????), foreign policy, education, etc. etc., but most of all I am afraid of what will happen in the area of women's issues.
I am sure that, should it be necessary, McCain and Palin will appoint the most reactionary judges for the Supreme Court that they can find. There goes Roe v. Wade. Equal pay for equal work, forget it. Stem cell research? They have already come out against it in their resumes. I could go on and get hysterical about the future under another Rpublican administration.
Therefore, I am making it my business to write to all the newspapers in my area and I will try to scare the bejabbers out of readers. I will also write to the New York Times and the International Herald Tribune and the Sacramento Bee. I am at a great disadvantage in this campaign because I have arthritis in both hips and can't walk very far. I have also come down with a horrible case of laryngitis so phoning people is out of the question. My fingers still work, though. I will write and write and write.
The results of this election are up to us. That statement by itself shows the vast differnce between the values of the McCain campaign and that of Barack Obama. This is a promise,. I will do my part to make sure that John McCain and his side-kick, Sarah Palin, never get near the White House. I did not feel this sense of immediacy and dread until she was placed on the Republican ticket. She definitely scares the bejabbers out of me.
