Sound like fighting words? Well, they are in a way, but probably not the way you think.
This isn't a call to arms, it's a call to action. Stop complaining about the President. He did exactly what was needed and hopefully he'll continue to demonstrate bipartisanship while enlisting us (his secret weapon - probably should have said weapons because we're 13 million strong). Do you really want him to emulate George Bush? Do we really want to continue a history of partisanship? I don't think so.
What we really need to do is act, and act now. We need to start by constantly e-mailing every single republican (and democrat that doesn't get it) and voice our disgust with their continued disregard for the will of the people. We need to organize against every one of them and defeat them in their re-election. We have a chance to really change the landscape of American politics. But if we fall prey to the politics of old we will not only fail in our mission, we will continue to support the status quo.
The "loyal" opposition has spouted the same failed rhetoric for forty years. If they're not smart enough to understand that when you try the same thing over and over again and never get the results you want, it's time to change. I urge everyone to go to Congress.org and contact every single congressman that voted against the bill and give them a piece of your mind. Moreover, I urge you all to remember their names and make sure you help defeat them in their next election. Perhaps more importantly, I urge you to support our President and help him help us.
God bless America and President Obama.

The enthusiasm of Obama supporters spreads out in so many interesting ways. Josh and Bethany Horton of Memphis, Jason Powers of New York City and Josh Jeter from Chicago who all met in Seattle created the site and movement called Yeswecarve.com which encourages creation of pumpkins carved on an Obama/Biden theme.
The site includes stencil patterns which can be downloaded and it welcomes uploads of new designs. But just like our campaign, the site features the positive. As they say no "Attack O'Lanterns" are allowed.
As of today a YouTube video which uses Barack O'Lantern photos with the sound track to the campaign video "Signs of Hope and Change" has been viewed 38,000 times.
General Colin Powell calls Barack a transformative figure. So why not carve a transformative pumpkin this Halloween?
The best kept secret in north central San Antonio early voting is VIA Headquarters on San Pedro just north of Cypress. My wife and I do our early voting there every election and the lines are always short. Today was no exception. At 5:15 there was only one person in line in front of me.
The VIA parking lot is always packed (Why don't VIA employees take the bus??) but I've always been able to find parking. It's probably ok to park across the street at the Bill Millers.
If you want only a short line I highly recommend you head to VIA at 1021 San Pedro. From the Deco District just head down Fredericksburg. Stay on it as it becomes Cypress. At the San Pedro turn left. The VIA headquarters is a block away in a building that used to be a Kroger's.

Co Chair Texas Veterans For Obama
I asked for and received permission to reprint this editorial by Andrew Bacevich. It is a good read and points to the problems that President Obama and our team will be facing; ending our foreign adventurism, and rebuilding both our military and our economy. We need a President Obama more than ever.

He Told Us to Go Shopping. Now the Bill Is Due.
By Andrew J. BacevichSunday, October 5, 2008; B03
It's widely thought that the biggest gamble President Bush ever took was deciding to invade Iraq in 2003. It wasn't. His riskiest move was actually one made right after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks when he chose not to mobilize the country or summon his fellow citizens to any wartime economic sacrifice. Bush tried to remake the world on the cheap, and as the bill grew larger, he still refused to ask Americans to pay up. During this past week, that gamble collapsed, leaving the rest of us to sort through the wreckage.
To understand this link between today's financial crisis and Bush's wider national security decisions, we need to go back to 9/11 itself. From the very outset, the president described the "war on terror" as a vast undertaking of paramount importance. But he simultaneously urged Americans to carry on as if there were no war. "Get down to Disney World in Florida," he urged just over two weeks after 9/11. "Take your families and enjoy life, the way we want it to be enjoyed." Bush certainly wanted citizens to support his war -- he just wasn't going to require them actually to do anything. The support he sought was not active but passive. It entailed not popular engagement but popular deference. Bush simply wanted citizens (and Congress) to go along without asking too many questions.
This is one of the most persuasive Obama video's I have seen. Though its intended audience is Jewish Americans, I believe that it needs to be seen by anyone who is thinking about sitting this election out or who has become afraid of Barack's candidacy.
You may have missed this video of Barack's September 24, Florida news conference. It reminds me of all the reasons I want him to lead our country. In this conference he shows his wisdom, fairness and reasonableness. He shows he understands the issues and explain how to approach them better than anyone we've seen for a long time. Take a look at this conference and see a preview of the kind of leadership he will provide when he is our president. The video is 16 minutes long but well worth watching.

Like many of you I was glued to the television last night to watch our candidate in action against the right. There were some things that didn't make me too happy but overall I was very pleased.
Most pleasing - This was John McCain's debate, he was supposed to win this debate hands down because it was the foreign policy debate. People, before last night, thought McCain was far better off in that forum and we proved that to be false. Obama held his own last night. I am not sure that he as the clear hands down winner, but I believe that he won slightly. In a debate where McCain needed to win hands down, he lost slightly. My favorite part of the night was when Obama turned to McCain and started to blast him on how he has been wrong time and time again. I think these couple of moments really won over a lot of voters, not just because it shows that Obama will not back down, but because it really shows how he has been the one with the better judgement the whole time.
Least pleasing - I think the part of the night where I was least pleased was when McCain started talking about all the earmarks that Obama has requested over the couple of years he has been in office. I am not sure what the earmarks were for but I am going to look into this. I can't defend him on an issue if I don't know anything about it.
Fold US Candidates.com has created free paper craft finger puppets of Barack, John McCain, Michelle and the John's wife. So far they don't have puppets for Joe and Sarah. You simply download the pdf's, print them out and fold and glue them. These are 360 degree representations of the candidates. For some reason the the Barack puppet seems poised, statesmanlike and knowledgeable while the McCain puppet looks arrogant, combative and ill informed.
I printed the Obama pdf in the photo below on a malfunctioning printer and took the picture without proper lighting. Yours will look much better.
Hosting an Obama event? Why not make a few copies of them on a color copier for your guests?
