I love when the community comes together to 'Make It Happen'! There truely is No Day But Today! 'Hope' you also have a great community event :-)
This event is tentative. MINIMUM OF 35 PEOPLE NEEDED! We need everyone's money by APRIL 20TH! The amount due would be $60; checks or money order made out to me: Gail Newtson. The tickets have to be paid for at the time they are ordered and we will pre-pay the limo service, as well! THIS AMOUNT COVERS TICKETS AND TRANSPORTATION ONLY. We will be stopping for lunch at a restaurant in Chicago, before attending the game. BYO-snacks and drinks for the drive.Anyone from the Chicago area that is interested in meeting us at the game....please contact me to coordinate seating, if possible!June 9th is National Obama Day, a day to show support to the public. What better way than to have groups from all over attend a White Sox game (the Senator's favorite team) Of course, we would all wear our Obama gear. If there were enough of us, I'm sure we could get some media coverage. From Peoria, IL we will be taking Deluxe Limo, leaving Peoria at 9am. We would then travel to Normal to pick up fellow supporters and then on to Chicago! We will depart from US Cellular Field at 6:30pm to arrive back in Peoria at about 10:30pm. So, spread the word and confirm ASAP.
As soon as the minimum # of people is confirmed, and the money turned in, I will order the tickets and have them sent to my home. The reason the money is needed so far in advance is because of group sales procedures.
RAIN-OUT. Yes, that's possible. We will still tour Chicago, your tickets will be given to you to attend at another time. After all there's plenty to do in Chicago!
Come on Chicago! Contact me, even if you're not attending, and give me some insight on Barack's neighborhood, favorite music, favorite food, etc!
Thank you,
Gail/freedom4u_n_me/Obama in the Heart. Please contact me with any questions. grtnewt3@juno.com

Clinton: ‘It’s just not fair’
By Sam Youngman March 23, 2007
Former President Bill Clinton yesterday complained that “it’s just not fair” the way his wife, presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), is being depicted for her controversial Iraq war vote.Speaking to hundreds of supporters on conference call, the former president said, “I don’t have a problem with anything Barack Obama [has] said on this,” but “to characterize Hillary and Obama’s positions on the war as polar opposites is ludicrous.“This dichotomy that’s been set up to allow him to become the raging hero of the anti-war crowd on the Internet is just factually inaccurate.”The ex-president’s aggressive defense of his wife’s position revealed frustration in the Clinton camp over how the issue is playing into the already-overheated presidential campaign. On a conference call with Hillraisers, Sen. Clinton’s biggest donors, which The Hill listened to after being provided the call-in information, the former president said there was a stark difference between those who voted for the Iraq resolution and those who wanted to go to war.In response to a question from one of the supporters on the phone about explaining Hillary Clinton’s Iraq vote to undecided voters, the former president jumped in front of former Democratic Party Chairman Terry McAuliffe, saying, “Let me answer this.”He said he had re-read the Iraq resolution last week, and that his wife had voted only for “coercive inspections.” Clinton justified his wife’s refusal to apologize for her vote by explaining that she was acting out of concern that future presidents might need similar language authorizing “coercive inspections to avoid conflict.”“It’s just not fair to say that people who voted for the resolution wanted war,” Clinton said. The former president also quoted an interview with Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) in this month’s GQ magazine, explaining that Hagel’s justification for his vote on the war is very similar to Hillary Clinton’s. “All these people who criticize Hillary all the time all love Hagel for being a critic of the war,” Clinton said. The anti-war left continues to be a thorn in the side of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, protesting at most of her events. Most recently, a protester from the Code Pink group interrupted her $2.7 million fundraiser in Washington Tuesday night before being removed by security. The former president’s phone call made it clear that the Clinton campaign is working furiously to overcome what it understands is a serious vulnerability. His re-reading of the 2002 Iraq war resolution and his use of a clipping from a glossy magazine make it plain that he did not want to miss a trick. The difference between Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) war position has moved front and center as the two, or at least their representatives, have scuffled in recent days over Obama’s perceived status as the anti-war candidate.Bill Clinton made news recently when he pointed to a comment by Obama, who said he didn’t know how he would have voted had he been in the Senate in 2002. Senior advisers to both campaigns, Mark Penn for Hillary Clinton and David Axelrod for Obama, traded jabs at a forum on Monday, with Penn noting that Obama’s votes in the Senate on funding the war and troop withdrawal have been almost identical to Clinton’s.The exchange prompted a quick reaction from Obama’s camp, in the form of an e-mail that campaign manager David Plouffe sent to supporters to draw a distinction between the two candidates’ war records.Plouffe’s e-mail said Obama’s campaign had a “resource and action center” on the Internet where voters could see a video and “interactive timeline” of the war’s progression.“Millions of people have tuned into this presidential race wondering who will provide the leadership to end this war and the judgment to avoid strategic disasters like this in the first place,” the e-mail said. The purpose of yesterday’s call was ostensibly to thank Hillraisers for their fundraising efforts and to ask them to push harder with the end of the first quarter in sight. It was after phones were opened to questions, the first of which dealt with Iraq, that the former president was prompted to leap to his wife’s defense. Before launching into a discussion on the war, both Clinton and McAuliffe profusely thanked the supporters on the call and asked them to enlist more campaign donors before the end of the first quarter — or, as Clinton put it, before “the first primary.” “I’m so proud of you for what you’re doing for Hillary,” Clinton said, before adding, “I hope we can make it even better in the last few days.”Clinton and McAuliffe made repeated mention of a Wednesday fundraiser in Kentucky, where on short notice the state party chairman was able to put together a $300,000 fundraiser for the senator.Kentucky, Clinton noted, “is a red state, even though I carried it twice.”

MY COMMENT: Bill wants to help his wife on Iraki's vote trouble and mean to underestimate Obama judgement on peace issues. A soft attack to Obama and claim fairness!!! "Obama is not a hero" he says. Something like the family reason is more important than the Nation's future!
Bill says that Obama is not a hero? well where are the heroes? The point is Obama has judgement on the Irak war and his wife miss it even if she doesn't accept her fault.
Bill means to underestimate that fundamental difference and calls us for fairness. It's amazing!. A great lesson of unfairness from the former democratic leader who evidently moved by private family interest. After this would Bill plan for his daughter presidency?
IT'S JUST UNFAIR FROM A FORMER DEMOCRATIC LEADER TO SACRIFY DEMOCRATS REASONS FOR FAMILY INTEREST. IT'S A PITTY!!!!

IF YOU THINK YOU’VE GOT IT BAD…THEN YOU PROBABLY DO.
IF YOU THINK YOU’VE LOST SOMETHING…THEN YOU PROBABLY HAVE.
IF YOU THINK LIFE HAS WRONGED YOU… THEN IT PROBABLY HAS.
IF YOU THINK LIFE IS UNFAIR … THEN IT PROBABLY IS.
IF YOU THINK YOU CAN’T… THEN YOU’RE PROBABLY RIGHT.
HERE’S SOME ADVICE!
IF YOU THINK YOU’VE GOT IT BAD… I’M SURE THERE ARE MANY OTHERS THAT WOULD GLADLY TRADE PLACE WITH YOU.
IF YOU THINK YOU’VE LOST SOMETHING… THINK AGAIN, IT NEVER BELONGED TO YOU TO BEGIN WITH.
IF YOU THINK LIFE HAS WRONGED YOU… THEN YOU DON’T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG.
IF YOU THINK LIFE IS UNFAIR… THEN YOU EVIDENTLY DON’T KNOW THE RULES… THERE ARE NONE.
IF YOU THINK YOU CAN’T… THEN YOU’RE PROBABLY NOT INSPIRED.
HERE’S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX!
IF YOU THINK YOU’VE GOT IT GOOD…THEN YOU PROBABLY DO.
IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE…THEN YOU DON’T.
IF YOU THINK LIFE’S WHAT YOU MAKE IT… THEN START BUILDING.
IF YOU THINK YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE… THEN THAT’S FAIR.
IF YOU THINK YOU CAN… THEN YOU HAVE A CHANCE.
And I believe that Barack Obama gives us the best chance at changing the course of this great nation. We went and met him in Muscatine, Iowa and I was very impressed. He took time to speak to everyone afterwards and he signed many autographs and answered questions.
It's all in the "Believing" folks! So let's start believing and KEEP believing!! Our children deserve a better future!!
Yesterday there were upwards to 30,000 greeting Obama in Oakland. Last night at a Fundraiser at the Mark Hopkins in San Francisco, an approxmate of $ 1,000,000 was raised for OUR fearless candidate.
Go Obama '08!

Obama sets Iowa afireAnticipation was in the air for days in the Quad-Cities, but Davenport drummed up a big hit Saturday as fresh-faced Rock Island youth pounded rhythm in unison. So infectious was the phenomenon that many there, myself included, had to stand and stomp along. When Barack Obama entered the room and joined in the step clap cadence, the gymnasium caught fire.Obama, once a skinny kid from the south side of Chicago, coming from humble roots and making it the American way, touches something deep inside us all. Those in Democratic circles count their blessings for his presence and quality as a candidate, while the other side of the aisle is confounded by his ability to transcend party lines. Non-participating voters become active again, all simply accomplished by an attitude of an honest fresh discussion with the public that somehow becomes a one-on-one conversation, even in a room of thousands.Barack has what many desire yet few ever attain and many in his opposition fear: truthful integrity.Cecilia O'BrienMolineClick here to read this letter to the editor at QCTimes.com

We can all respectfully disagree and Barack Obama is being a good example for all of us. He explains to the people the simple values we all should share. Competence, practicallity, and commom sense. I didn't see Hil with a Today Show exclusive! Hil had to pay to get/put her anit-AG-Gonzolez message out...Oh yeah, Barack said to get rid of him a year ago. Go Team Barack!

An interesting article on Newsday.com about Obama challenging Clinton for black voters
from www.examiner.com:
Here are excerpts from Sen. Thomas Eagleton's farewell address, written in May, and shared at Saturday's memorial service.
-----
-This is my last audience and, thus, I think I am entitled to the last word.
-I have had a wonderful, understanding wife. She has endured all of my foibles and I love her for it.
-I most fondly remember my mother. I was her favorite. I am reluctant to use Nixon's phraseology, but my mother was a saint. ... From early days, I wanted to be a senator. My father would have made a great one. He was a magnificent trial lawyer. He was in my mind as great a speaker as FDR.
-My dad ... thought a youngster should be exposed to all sorts of views. Once, he took me to the old Coronado Hotel to hear Norman Thomas, the frequent Socialist candidate for president. Another time he took me to see a Gerald L.K. Smith protest at Kiel Auditorium. Smith was a racist "preacher" in the style of Bob Jones of Bob Jones University. ... In 1938, dad drove me by a German Bund (pro Nazi) meeting at Grand and Lafayette and explained the dangers of Hitler and anti-Semitism.
-In the Senate, I tried my best to express and vote my conscience. ... I think Sen. Phil Hart, Sen. Mike Mansfield, my wonderful friend Gaylord Nelson and Jack Danforth were amongst senators who voted their true conscience on every vote.
-You may wonder why I mention Jack Danforth. There is a possibility that God is a Republican, and at this point I feel it best to cover all my bases.
-I am most proud that the "Eagleton Amendment" was the legislative act that finally ended U.S. participation in the dreadful Vietnam War. I am proud of the original version of the War Powers Act which ... would have re-established the shared powers of the President and the Congress when our nation went to war.
-I am proud that ... we passed the first major Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.
-After leaving the Senate, I never missed being there - except for the debate on the nomination of Bork and the horrible, disastrous Iraq War. That war will go down in American history as one of our greatest blunders. It will be remembered, in part, as a curse to our Constitution when Attorney General John Ashcroft attempted to put a democratic face on torture. Vice President Richard Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld also will go down in history for their total lack of planning for post-war Iraq.
-I set forth my own critique of my Senate service. I could and should have done more. I had the energy. I had the desire. ... I blame it on my quickly moving attention span. Ted Kennedy has spent 30 plus years on National Health Insurance. I could not do that. I was too impatient.
-I do not pretend to be the world's greatest Catholic. Nevertheless, I think the Catholic Church is a vital part of American life, conscience and thought. ... It is Pope John XXIII who made the Catholic Church relevant to the 20th Century and future popes must make it relevant to the 21st Century. It was Archbishop May who made the Catholic Church relevant to the 20th Century in St. Louis. In the era of the Christian right, we seem to have merged God's power into political power.
-I am an optimist about death and believe there is a there there. Somehow, in some manner, I will be meeting my parents, my brother and my friends. Somehow, Bob Koster will be waiting for me to tell me where I can buy everything 10 percent off.
-So go forth in love and peace - be kind to dogs - and vote Democratic.
Life is confusing and Barack Obama is smart enough to admit that! I also do not understand everything, especially people that do not put their best foot forward. We all need to support each other! You should decide below what is fair or not!?!
Throughout his political career, Barack Obama has been a leader in the fight for open and honest government.
Is this from Chicago? Transparency is Key! Campaign Politics?, see below
'Until this morning that is when I received a blunt email that I could not attend either event because both were sold out and to let me in would create a "fire hazard." Obviously I am quite disappointed. I tried to find the person who made this decision to discuss the matter further even buy a ticket but was told that individual could not be identified. And under no circumstances could I attend.
I just extend to this to my "friends" as a cautionary tale to you do not face a comparable situation. If there is a fund raiser in your area with Barack attending especially and you want to be there whether you are selling tickets for the event or not, and whatever promises are made to you it is simpler and safer to buy a ticket and avoid such disappointments.'
recently, i made a blog post about a certain shirt featured on tshirthell.com. a pro-obama shirt. it has a picture of both hillary clinton and senator obama, and the caption states, "bros before hoes." i thought the shirt was hilarious, and i plan on ordering one as soon as possible.
however, that blog post has mysteriously disappeared.
this campaign appears to be watching, and censoring, blog posts on the site. while they are well within their rights to do so, i'm pretty much blown away. what the hell is the point of a blog if we can't post what we want? i'm kind of surprised that a campaign so concerned with the rights of the american people is censoring the blogs of its supporters. discuss, if you would be so kind.
also, dear censorer, if you are reading this, i'd kindly request that you leave it up. because i don't think that the senator we all want to be president approves of censorship. does he?
