The Portland, Oregon Group that is open to all who supportIllinois Senator Barack Obama!
What a question and how regrettable it felt to hear the Republican Party faithful and the McCain’s campaign and their surrogates ask this question that fundamentally seek to denigrate, discriminate and perpetuate the dogmatism and archaism of the racism mentality while pretending to link him to a citizen that had been honored by the state of Illinois in the education sector.
Without an iota of doubt if at this stage in the lives of Sen. McCain and his surrogates they do not know who Sen. Obama is then what on earth will they be able to know and ever understand in their life?
The good news however is the fact that irrespective of Sen. Obama’s associations, inclinations and convictions, and coupled with his natural composition of being completely black and completely white, it suffices to note that Obama is a compassionate, articulate, patriotic and like any of us a citizen of the world and specifically of the United States of America.
(CNN) — No, hell has not frozen over, but a Buckley is backing a Democrat for president.
Christopher Buckley, the son of the late conservative icon William F. Buckley, said Friday he's decided to back Barack Obama's White House bid, the first time in his life he will vote Democrat.
“It’s a good thing my dear old mum and pup [sic] are no longer alive. They’d cut off my allowance," Buckley, a columnist for the conservative National Review, wrote on the Web site The Daily Beast Friday.
Buckley, who praised McCain in a New York Times Op-Ed earlier this year and defended the Arizona senator's conservative credentials against wary talk-radio hosts, said McCain is no longer the “real” and “unconventional” man he once admired.
"This campaign has changed John McCain," Buckley wrote. "It has made him inauthentic. A once-first class temperament has become irascible and snarly; his positions change, and lack coherence; he makes unrealistic promises, such as balancing the federal budget 'by the end of my first term.' Who, really, believes that?
"Then there was the self-dramatizing and feckless suspension of his campaign over the financial crisis," Buckley added. "His ninth-inning attack ads are mean-spirited and pointless. And finally, not to belabor it, there was the Palin nomination. What on earth can he have been thinking?"
But Buckley made clear he's not just voting against McCain, praising Obama for his "first-class temperament and first-class intellect."
"Obama has in him—I think, despite his sometimes airy-fairy 'We are the people we have been waiting for' silly rhetoric—the potential to be a good, perhaps even great leader. He is, it seems clear enough, what the historical moment seems to be calling for," Buckley wrote.
"Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska's governor by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired from the state police, a state investigator's report concluded Friday," http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/10/palin.investigation/index.html
We know what the abuse of power has given us:
1. GW Bush and Dick Cheney in 2000 by Florida and the US Supreme Court
2. Iraq War by GW Bush
3. Guantanamo Bay by Bush and Cheney
4. Eavesdropping on US citizens by GW Bush
5. Record deficit spending by GW Bush
6. Loss of confidence in the credit market, turmoil in the stock market, and a non-functional economy by Wall Street
We don't need to put a power hungry and ruthless beauty queen in the White House.

Four years ago, John Kerry flirted with the idea of making John McCain his running mate. Today, he is denouncing the Arizona Senator for "a stunning failure of leadership," and running a nasty, hate-filled campaign.
In a letter to supporters, the Massachusetts Democrat -- no stranger to smears himself -- ramps up his criticisms of McCain to new heights. In addition to airing disgust with the tone of the McCain crowds, he rips Gov. Sarah Palin for making "outrageous charges that only a few years ago would have disqualified someone from serious consideration for national office."
The letter reads:
John McCain has shown a stunning failure of leadership. His campaign, in a time of economic crisis and foreign policy drift, has degenerated into a negative and nasty campaign of smears. The reports are piling up of ugliness at the campaign rallies of John McCain and Sarah Palin. Audience members hurl insults and racial epithets, call out "Kill Him!" and "Off With His Head," and yell "treason" when Senator Obama's name is mentioned. I strongly condemn language like this which can only be described as hate-filled. According to reports, every ad paid for by the John McCain campaign is now a negative ad -- every single one! McCain allows his running mate to make outrageous charges that only a few years ago would have disqualified someone from serious consideration for national office. We cannot stand by and allow this to happen. We need to fight back, spread the word about what kind of low campaign he's running, and make sure people know the truth.

Kerry, like Obama, has set up a website to debunk smears in real time. And he directs supporters to the link: http://www.truthfightsback.com/page/content/smearpolitics
His strained relationship with McCain serves as a reminder of how much the political dynamics have changed in the past four years. It also begins to raise the question: what kind of reception will McCain receive either if he goes back to the Senate as a campaign loser or has to work with Congress as the next president?
Join & spread the word about John Kerry's effort to stop political smears against Democrats:
"Truthfightsback.com tracks, debunks, and counters the smears of the right wing against Democrats. We are dedicated to trying to end smears of all sorts, working against a style of politics that have become too prevalent, where emotional push-button attacks substitute for vigorous debate on the issues.
It is our hope that we can play a role in exposing the methods and goals of those who smear Democrats so that we can decide our elections on the issues and values that matter to Americans."

And this weekend -- October 11th and 12th -- is our last big chance to make sure everyone in Oregon is registered to vote. The world’s economy is slowing down, grinding ever so slowly toward a standstill.
Unprecedented leadership is a must.
This is an extraordinary opportunity, a time more profound than the days following the bombing of the Twin Towers, for a leader, any leader from anywhere in the world, to unite not just the NATO members and the G8 countries, but every country on this planet and commit every citizen on this earth, to join and work together, to abandon warfare once and for all, to give everyone a stake in his/her future, and in the collective future of this civilization.
This is the time to forgive and forsake the past, to begin anew, to return to the fundamentals of society building, to engineer a foundation so that everyone will have the basic necessities, the health care, the education and the kind of work that will promote a prosperous, peaceful and environmentally sustainable future for all.
When i began bloggin about my feelings/opining concerning the Obama campaign, I would have never foreseen the economic collapse being such a catalyst in the election. The Palin announcement I thought had stole the mojo from the long primary with Hillary.
Then Saturday Night Live, Jon Stewart, and Katie Couric all conspired to effectively deflate Palin, while simultaneously the collapse of the credit system worldwide would skewer any chances McCain had of even "Pretending to be Relevant". Of course we, as Americans, are in shock, we are all uncertain about what the future will bring. The notion of a Depression is real, and it's not good to shout "fire" in a crowded theater, but if the whole system collapsed, then shout anything you want.
The upshot of all the recent activity makes the SNARKY side of McPain and Failin just resonate with a pathetic twang. While we reel with the news of the day, they ostrich themselves into an unwinnable corner and play politics as usual. Don't they see this is different! Have some self-respect Mr. McCain! Don't lower yourself as a senator with a distinguished career by statement like "That One". Don't you see that we know what you mean when you do that? The thinly veiled racist side of you has just come out. Give him the respect he deserves. I don't care if you lose an lose badly, the country is in a great need of togetherness coming out of this election, and you need to lift up Barack as the great leader he will be, because--- "BELIEVE ME, YOU WILL BE THANKFUL YOU DON'T HAVE THE JOB".
We are at an uneasy juncture in our History. Timing is indeed everything. You would have been better than Bush after 9/11 but your own party sabotaged your momentum in that primary against John Kerry. We have memories. I will give you credit for the type of politician you were then, but for the challenges that call today, you are not up to the task. That doesn't mean you should not portend to hold yourself to have dignity and self-respect. Allow the fact that you will lose to set in, and just chill. Unite ahead of your losing for the betterment of the country. After all, you are the one constantly reminding us slogan-like, "Country First".
Please lead by example.
And Barack, even people that aren't used to it, will learn to pray for your ability to remain strong and true while leading our nation back to a place where we don't all worry day-to-day. You have keep your composure all the way through this trial, and one day, History will look extremely favorably upon you and both your intelligence, faith in yourself, and your ability to lead our nation. But that doesn't mean we envy the job you have in front of you.
Peace

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (CNN) -- Just hours before the start of the second presidential debate, a new national survey suggests that Sen. Barack Obama is making gains among Americans as a compassionate candidate.
That could be important in the debate in Nashville, which is a town hall-style meeting with the candidates fielding questions from undecided voters in the audience.

God bless USA
God bless Obama & Biden
Obama showed his ability to connect with his audience. He was not lecturing like a law professsor, even though he fed us a lot of information. Long after the debate, he remained in the room because the audience left their seats to join him on the floor, surrounding him. He became the professor for whom everyone seems to have a question. He was truly in his element.
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's hint at lowering interest rates on top of the bailout is more about his desire to be in the limelight now that Treasury Secretary Paulson had stolen it from him. Lowering interest rates will only drive down the US dollar. It will not stimulate the economy. There is not enough liquidity out there for lower rates to make any significant difference.
As I have been suggesting all along, we need FISCAL STIMULUS in additional to the monetary stimulus of $810 billion. Money needs to be poured into building nuclear plants and replacing infrastructure. This will be the civil equivalent to wartime spending. Speaking of wars, call the Iraq war a draw and get out of there. Replace the troops in Afghanistan with "hide and seek" intelligence and spy novel detectives to smoke out bin Laden, now that the Taliban is looking to split ties with Al Quaida.
Be bold. Do something different. War is always the easy answer, but not always the most cost effective in terms of resources or lives. Dumb leaders go to war. Who doesn't? Even I know how to start a war. It is the smart ones who avoid them.
The lack of liquidity on Wall Street has now given way to illiquidity on Main Street. People who are losing their jobs are now unable to pay their credit card debts, which in turn, will trim bank profits requiring more layoffs. This disaster has spread overseas. This global contracting economy is still looking at further contractions and more bank and business failures. Will this vortex that is spinning endlessly toward economic hell ever stop?
Although GW Bush cannot be blamed for every personal economic ill, but he can be blamed for the major ones. He is the president, wielding a lot power, power than can prevent the abuses on Wall Street with the enforcement of laws, especially the inviolate fiduciary duty toward those who are most vulnerable. He has failed miserably.
GW Bush has come full circle since his accent to the presidency without popular support. His rating is now at an all-time low, matching Richard Nixon's right before his resignation. Someone should write a book entitled The Rise and Fall of the Bush Monarchy.
These are facts about McCain, his family, his life and all the mistruths that he likes to brag about. Please take the time to watch these and you may be shocked.People everywhere have the right to know these things about John McCain. He is no maverick. He would be a disaster as President. He is strictly out for John McCain and has proven he will say or do anything to get elected. Please help Barack and share these facts. McCain’s campaign is getting nastier.
Thanks, LuAnn

It makes me sick to my stomach to think that the McCain campaign has now shifted towards, "Who is Barack Obama" by dealing with nasty things such as, using his middle name, trying to attach him to previous Obama supporters who they claim as being a terrorist. These ridiculous claims are just downright lies. Now they have people yelling at rallies, "Hes a terriost"
Its time that we as "true" supporters reach out to the newspapers, editiors, tv stations, magazines, talk shows and the like and really speak the truth. For Gods sake, Obama was 8 years old when Ayers was "appreantly" doing what they claim he did in the 60's... Lets tell this truth..
This kitchen sink tactic is way below the belt. Obama will stay above the crowd and continue to speak to the issues and run a respectful campaign,"The economy, health care, The war, education" however; we the supporters need to continue to defend him against this negativity, and push towards getting our candidate elected.
Im so pissed off.. I just donated more money.... I encourage you to do the same.. this is absurb!!!
