There are two interesting articles in today's Sunday Business section of the New York Times. The first is Janet Rae-Dupree's article entitled Innovation Should Mean More Jobs, Not Less. In the piece Ms. Rae-Dupree cites a Silicon Valley petition circulating seeking to create a tax credit for companies that spend on information technology like computers and software. Things to further research:
This is it!
We're coming down to the final stretch and Barack Obama needs your help now, more than ever before!
Please bring your cell phone, a charger and a few fun friends who care about change and join with thousands of your neighbors in the largest ever-attempted phone bank effort in New York state history. The Obama campaign is hosting several of these "mega call centers" all over New York, so invite your friends and family to make calls to voters in key battleground states and change America for years to come.

I was absolutely HORRIFIED to read in the Huffington Post that the slanderous robocalls that accuse Barack Obama of working closely with terrorists that kill Americans are coming from Brooklyn.
This past week, Shoff, a Freeborn, Minnesota Democratic County Commissioner, received the Hollywood call while at work. Because state law dictates that any such calls be made by an actual human, Shoff demanded that he be connected to the supervisor. That official, who worked at the robocall shop King TeleServices in (Red Hook) Brooklyn, New York, said that they had been contracted out by FLS-Connect.Officials with King TeleServices did not respond to messages seeking comment.Asked about the connection to King TeleServices, a receptionist for FLS relayed a message from her supervisors that implicitly acknowledged that they have been working on behalf of the Arizona Republican: "If it is having to do with the McCain campaign or the RNC, you will have to direct your question to them."

And please, spread the word. The more the merrier.
This is an excerpt from my DailyKos Diary. I'm gonna use this to feed traffic there, please. My aim is to keep it recommended, so as many people see it as possible and also so the embedded video goes viral. It is essentially Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanon, openly mocking Sarah Palin's qualifications for VP saying, "That... will... not... work." They are just laughing at her.
Problem, just moments later, Palin is announced and within hours, Buchanon is making the rounds of the talking heads show to crow about what a "brilliant" pick this is. It's a blatant look at the GOP message machine, how quickly they change their tunes.
This is perfect antithesis to the GOP talking points that have obviously made the rounds in the last few days.
I would recommend you forward this to everyone. If they are right-leaning, trying being a little stealthy, use a subject line like "Buchanon (or Scarborough) on Palin" since they're likely to watch it then.
Please click on my Kos blog and recommend if you have a sign in. Please click the "Digg" link too.

The theme of family continues with Beau Biden introducing his dad.
Minimum requirement for our next team of leadership: saying nuclear rather than nucular.
"That's not change. That's more of the same." - we need a mantra. Not bad!
Cutting taxes for 95% of Americans - that's the change we need.
Making alternative energy a national priority - that's the change we need.
Making education more affordable - that's the change we need.
Equal pay for women - that's the change we need.
Remember when the world used to trust us? Remember when they use to look to us for leadership? Yes.
Joe Biden gave the speech of his iife. Rock on.
And Barack comes out on stage and is the rock star. Such confidence but such generosity in sharing the credit with Michelle, with Hillary, with the whole Biden clan. Ordinary people MUST do extraordinary things from now until Nov. 4. He is electrifying.
Uh, the Governor of Montana? Who knew?! Gov. Brian Scwheitzer totally rocked it out tonight delivering the message about our current energy un-policy and the upside of an actual energy policy that not only brings us energy independence AND reduces greenhouse gas emissions, but ALSO creates AMERICAN JOBS. Talk about straight talk - Schweitzer used no cliches and didn't skip over the technical stuff in explaining the reality of this mess we're in and the opportunity that lies in the solutions. AND - he got the crowd on their feet just in time to welcome Hillary. Good on you, Governor.
"FAMILY" is definitely a theme in this convention so far: niece introduces uncle...brother introduces sister...daughter introduces mother. I like it. That's what Democratic values are all about - taking care of families and helping families do better. Real family values.
Hillary is full of strength and grace tonight. I've never liked, admired or appreciated her more. I love that she challenged her supporters to think about whether it was really all about her or was it really about the tough issues facing Americans. The twin comment was priceless. Love the quote from Harriet Tubman.
And I love that Bill Clinton still tears up when he hears a story about an American family struggling to get by.
