Arkansas Veterans for Obama

This is the official Arkansas branch of Veterans for Obama. On this site you can find: 1) Information regarding Senator Obama's and Senator McCain's voting records and stances towards veterans; 2) Information on statewide events and organizations; 3) Links and contact information to veterans groups and party websites; 4) Stances by veterans groups concerning both Presidential candidates and veterans policies. 5) Information on how to contribute to the Obama campaign. Please note, as veterans we highly respect and admire Senator McCain and his service to this country and its people. Senator McCain has served this country honorably, both as a naval officer and a member of Congress. However, based on facts presented to us from official Senate roll call votes and statements made to the press, it is our belief that while he has served this country and its people with honor and commitment, as a member of Congress he has not acted to the best of his ability to serve our fellow veterans and troops. This alone does not disqualify him from acting as this country's president. But when presented with a candidate who has consistently voted and spoken in favor of our veterans and our troops, to an extent far greater than that of Senator McCain, it is our belief that as President, this candidate will provide our veterans and troops with the benefits and rights, benefits and rights not recognized by Senator McCain, that they have earned through sacrifice and dedication to this country. Everyone has a stake in this upcoming Presidential election so I will focus on the group I have the most experience with...our troops and veterans.

I joined the Marine Corps in 2000 at the age of 20, hoping to do great things for this country and our people. I did, but I also realized that our politicians have direct control of how we are used and how we are treated. After fighting in Iraq during two tours, I decided I could do the most good for my fellow Marines and servicemembers by fighting to ensure that our politicians do what is right for us and not what is convenient for them...which I was not able to do on active duty.

After becoming the Arkansas Chair of Veterans for Obama I realized to a greater extent that in order to ensure that our politicians do what is right for our troops and veterans we all have to take part...that is, veterans and those who support our troops and veterans. One man can't win the fight on his own, one general can't win a war on his own. They both need troops. In my case, that means those willing to volunteer at least a little of their time to voice their concerns and support the troops. Nationwide, those fighting for our troops and veterans must have people who step up and volunteer their time and money.

Together we can do this. Together we must do this!
