Davie Day was a smash success here in Vancouver! We raised a ton of money, and registered around 100 people to vote today, including several in such key states as Colorado and Montana.
The day wasn't without it's drama, though. Read more about it here: http://southtotheleft.wordpress.com/2008/09/07/score-one-—-no-two-—-for-the-good-guys/

What's with this new website look on my page? I don't like it. The information is not accurate, and what gives? Now I have a neighborhood tool, but I'm not in Los Angeles. I'm in Friday Harbor. I suppose I need to change some of the information I put in originally. I don't have time for this.
We all joined Senator Obama's campaign for a simple reason - we wanted to work with the Senator to make our country a better place to be. I'm sure many of us felt the same sense of despair and helplessness as we watched one of America's great cities inundated by floodwaters, then watched in shock as the citizens of New Orleans waited days amidst those waters for help. One of Senator Obama's greatest strengths is that he not only asks us to believe in him, but to believe in our own ability to make a difference.
It is in that spirit that we've organized a national meeting of Generation Obama members from across the country in New Orleans, Louisiana. Partly, we want to have the chance to finally meet the people we've spoken to on conference calls, the people who have helped send members across the nation to canvass and phone back. But mostly, we wanted to come together to spend a day in New Orleans, doing a small part to help rebuild a city that still needs our help, some three years after Katrina.
We're excited to announce our national GO retreat and day of service from July 18 -20 in New Orleans, Louisiana. For those GO groups who cannot make it to NOLA, we encourage you to find a worthy project in your community that same weekend to help us send the message that when it comes to making our country stronger, we are willing to roll up our sleeves and make it happen.
Some real serious thinking has to be done before this church thing becomes a "Damned if you do
and damned if you don't." This is like manna from heaven for Barack's opponents.
I have complete comfidence that Barack will handle this serious situation well.
These are not endorsed by the campaign, in fact it's safe to say they had nothing to do with any of them. But still I hope you enjoy them
This one is by far my favorite:

In 2008 Vancouver Democrats Abroad will be working on two important projects: 1) Voter Registration and 2) Hosting the 2008 Global Democrats Abroad Caucus.
We need your help! If you would like to get more involved please contact us at DemCan.Vancouver@gmail.com
Voter Registration
The latest census figures show that US citizens are flocking to Vancouver like never before. Since 2001 over 8000 Americans have moved to British Columbia, and 4610 of them chose to live in Vancouver.
In 2008 one of our primary goals will be to help these newcomers (and those who have been here for a long time before) to register and vote in the next presidential election.
A first step is to direct people to the Democrats Abroad online voter registration page (www.VoteFromAbroad.org). If you or someone you know has not yet registered to vote in the upcoming election, please direct them to this site.
Online tools are helpful, but voter registration drives also require contact with real people. In the coming year we will be making phone calls, setting up voter registration booths and other registration drive activities. This is rewarding work, and we hope you can help.
Global Caucus
Every four years members of Democrats Abroad from around the world are invited to a Global Caucus. The 2008 caucus takes place in Vancouver from April 11th to 13th.
Democrats Abroad is a global organization, with members from countries around the world. The organization has the status of a state party, and sends 22 delegates to the national Democratic Convention where the party's presidential candidate is nominated.
This year DA members from around the world will come to Vancouver to select delegates for the nominating convention, and to take care of other organization activities. There will be plenty of opportunities to help with on-sight activities in preparation for the event. This is agreat chance to get more involved with the party.
2008 looks to be an exciting year for us Democrats Abroad in Vancouver. We hope you will take the chance to get involved.
People up here sometimes ask me “so what is wrong with the American Democratic system?” I tell them nothing is wrong, that the US government is working perfectly, we have separation of powers, checks and balances, the whole bit, in fact it is exactly how the founding fathers envisioned it with one exception. That we individuals are no longer citizens in the democracy, the real citizens are corporations and power groups in industry, for them the American Dream, is right on target, and exactly as planned, the we individuals gave up our role as members of democracy slowly over time, dying the death of a thousand cuts.
Which leaves the most interesting question of all, “if we are not citizens, then what are we?’ well as far as I can tell we are what we always were in history, a natural resources to be harvested and managed, like Fish, Oil and lumber.
Why do you think we don't have access to health care, affordable housing, education. Why do you think our communities are structured to be Economically segregated so that families no longer live on the same blocks? "Nope these are all single family residences with a minimum of 3000 square feet, the apartments are way the hell over there, duplexes, and condos way over here, and stores, school and hospitals, well you gotta get on a freeway to get there." Why do you think new manufacturing jobs are only found in the slave pits of the third world? Why do you think Wal-Mart is the biggest store in the world? Why can you get a fully equipped Mazda for the price of a baseline Dodge? Why is Pair Hilton bigger news than that Crack, Aids, Iraq, health care and gun laws put together?
I always try to remember Lenin and President Eisenhower (the last honest republican) warnings Lenin in his last speech warning the soviet union of the corruption and power lust of Stalin, and Dwight warning the American people of the growing power of military contractors. I think that if those two warnings had not gone ignored we would have a different world to live in today. Now I absolutely believe in free trade and a market economy, so you can’t label me a commie lefty, instead I would like to see the free market actually become free and trade to become fair.
