The info below was sent to me by my daughter in Carmel, IN. She said this was all on a sign in one of her neighbor’s yard.I would like to find the source to put one in my yard. The copy on sign is below:
I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight..... * If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you’re “exotic, different." * Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story. * If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim. * Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick. * Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable. * Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded. * If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience. * If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive. * If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian. * If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian. * If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society. * If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible. * If your wife is a Harvard graduate laywer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's. * If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.
OK, much clearer now.
It is my prayer that women across all party lines stand together and prove to the world that we are not as dumb as John McCain would like everyone to think. His selection for VP today is a total insult. If he thought by choosing a woman that we would all follow like sheep to vote for him this election, then he is more out of touch than any of us have ever guessed. We are not Stepford Wives! The caliber of individual he selected today could not touch the hem of Senator Hillary R. Clinton. He insults Hillary and all women if he thinks that experience, intelligence, and knowledge of foreign affairs are not important skills for one to have to be VP of the United States of America. He forgets that we women are the ones who have given birth to all the generations and are much more moved knowing that our children and grandchildren will have a safe world in which to live.
His choosing a "beauty queen," "hockey mom," and mother of five with a BA in journalism tells us exactly what he considers a woman's worth really is in the White House. These requirements would not even merit an interview to run a company let alone charting the course for 300 million Americans into this 21 Century. Do you honestly see McCain seeking Palin for her points of view on anything once he is president? Republicans touting McCain’s VP choice to political pundits today stated that Sarah Palin will be used immediately to appeal to the blue-collars working at union sites, factories, etc. Is that because she will be used as some sex object? Or is she the maverick he wishes he could be again?
Does John McCain think that US men are as stupid as US women? Does he think that men will be driven to his persuasion too, because a "beauty queen" can stir their fancy and make them forget all about economic crisis, foreign wars, global warming, the housing crisis, wages lower than ever, and a deficit equal to that of the great depression, to name a few? I hope you men consider your worth and get as angry as we women are today, because it has just been inferred that men will be driven by something other than their intelligence; rather, you will be much more entertained by something that will be appealing to your eyes.
And if that were not enough to get people sidetracked, let's make sure that we never focus on the real issues again either and make abortion, guns, religion, and gays the target of our concern, because McCain is pretty proud that Palin is anti-abortion, a life-long gun advocate, prefers moose-meat-eating, the destruction of protected lands for more off-shore oil drilling, and a non-supporter for protecting extinction of wolves and polar bears.
Karl Rove said he would make sure that John McCain won in 2008, and all of this smacks of Rove's finger prints. His bailiwick is to get off point and talk louder about topics that only cause emotional division and hate. Rove/Bush/McCain are not interested in bringing back America with integrity and dignity--only division, which would make us much more unstable and a nation catering only to the wealthy making sure that democracy is a privilege for the elite, which pretty much destroys the precepts set by our writers of the constitution—and lends more to the constructs of fascism.
I would have respected McCain had he selected a more reputable, experienced woman for this position. He, instead, demonstrates more of the Bush mentality—treating Americans like we are all as dumb as boxes of rocks. Palin is nothing but a token. McCain has stated many times that he would select a VP that would be ready for president in the event of his death/ill health. The likelihood of this happening to him is conceivable, too, due to McCain's age, cancer occurrences, and early signs of dementia.
McCain has gone out of his way to state that "experience" was a major priority to be president of the US. He has batted this sound bite towards Senator Barack Obama, our Democratic candidate, for months. He has stated that Obama could never fit the bill, due to his limited two years as a US Senator. The media has spotlighted this point ad nauseam, and now conveniently it has been dropped when it refers to McCain's “beauty queen,” Sarah Palin.
As a senior citizen, I do not know how our country could ever survive another four years of uncertainty, insecurity, and utter chaos. Where has our America gone? Now are job is getting out the vote for Senator Barack Obama so that our hope can live and so that he will indeed be our next President of the United States of America. God bless America, and God bless all of you who are in the trenches working for hope. Amen.
