There are other factors we should take into consideration as well including October surprises, Bradley effects, etc. Remember how John McCain pulled that Mortgage buy out proposal out of nowhere in the last debate. We still have to fight hard, we have to hammer harder, we have to fight as if we are loosing by double digits rather then winning by double digits. Obama has to win this last and final debate Big.

At Fort McNair, an army base located along the Potomac River in the nation's capital, a chance reunion takes place one day between two former POWs. It's the spring of 1974, and Navy commander John Sidney McCain III has returned home from the experience in Hanoi that, according to legend, transformed him from a callow and reckless youth into a serious man of patriotism and purpose. Walking along the grounds at Fort McNair, McCain runs into John Dramesi, an Air Force lieutenant colonel who was also imprisoned and tortured in Vietnam.

McCain is studying at the National War College, a prestigious graduate program he had to pull strings with the Secretary of the Navy to get into. Dramesi is enrolled, on his own merit, at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in the building next door.

There's a distance between the two men that belies their shared experience in North Vietnam — call it an honor gap. Like many American POWs, McCain broke down under torture and offered a "confession" to his North Vietnamese captors. Dramesi, in contrast, attempted two daring escapes. For the second he was brutalized for a month with daily torture sessions that nearly killed him. His partner in the escape, Lt. Col. Ed Atterberry, didn't survive the mistreatment. But Dramesi never said a disloyal word, and for his heroism was awarded two Air Force Crosses, one of the service's highest distinctions. McCain would later hail him as "one of the toughest guys I've ever met."

On the grounds between the two brick colleges, the chitchat between the scion of four-star admirals and the son of a prizefighter turns to their academic travels; both colleges sponsor a trip abroad for young officers to network with military and political leaders in a distant corner of the globe.

"I'm going to the Middle East," Dramesi says. "Turkey, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iran."

"Why are you going to the Middle East?" McCain asks, dismissively.

"It's a place we're probably going to have some problems," Dramesi says.

"Why? Where are you going to, John?"

"Oh, I'm going to Rio."

"What the hell are you going to Rio for?"

McCain, a married father of three, shrugs.

"I got a better chance of getting laid."

Dramesi, who went on to serve as chief war planner for U.S. Air Forces in Europe and commander of a wing of the Strategic Air Command, was not surprised. "McCain says his life changed while he was in Vietnam, and he is now a different man," Dramesi says today. "But he's still the undisciplined, spoiled brat that he was when he went in."

McCAIN FIRST

This is the story of the real John McCain, the one who has been hiding in plain sight. It is the story of a man who has consistently put his own advancement above all else, a man willing to say and do anything to achieve his ultimate ambition: to become commander in chief, ascending to the one position that would finally enable him to outrank his four-star father and grandfather.

In its broad strokes, McCain's life story is oddly similar to that of the current occupant of the White House. John Sidney McCain III and George Walker Bush both represent the third generation of American dynasties. Both were born into positions of privilege against which they rebelled into mediocrity. Both developed an uncanny social intelligence that allowed them to skate by with a minimum of mental exertion. Both struggled with booze and loutish behavior. At each step, with the aid of their fathers' powerful friends, both failed upward. And both shed their skins as Episcopalian members of the Washington elite to build political careers as self-styled, ranch-inhabiting Westerners who pray to Jesus in their wives' evangelical churches.

In one vital respect, however, the comparison is deeply unfair to the current president: George W. Bush was a much better pilot.

Why McCain is Leaving Michigan--and What It Means for Nov. 4 Andrew Romano

Last night's debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden may not have "altered the basic contours of the race." But that doesn't mean nothing important happened yesterday. It's just that it was happening 365 miles to the northeast, in the great state of Michigan.

Lost amid all the Beltway blather and bloviation about the Showdown in St. Louis Thursday evening was one of the most significant revelations since the start of the race. John McCain, it seems, has decided to pull out of the Great Lakes State. As Politico's Jonathan Martin reported first, "McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states." The information leaked after McCain, who has watched Barack Obama surge to a sizable lead in national and swing state polls over the past few days, canceled a local event scheduled for next week. "It was always a long shot for us to win," said an aide.

That's probably accurate. But the truth is, without Michigan--which the campaign has now all but admitted that it will lose--it's very difficult to see how McCain can emerge victorious on Nov. 4. For months, McCain has made Michigan the centerpiece of his electoral offense, and with good reason. Iowa, a state that George W. Bush won in 2004, is almost certain to swing to Obama; he currently leads there by more than 10 points on average. Same goes for New Mexico, where Obama's ahead by 8. When combined with John Kerry's 251 electoral votes, those two states alone would put Obama within seven of the magic 270 mark; a single, additional win in either Colorado, Virginia, Ohio or Florida--all of which currently favor the Democrat--would put him over the top. Which is why McCain, desperate to make up ground, has long pinned his hopes on Michigan. The Arizona senator was polling within 2 points of his Illinois opponent as recently as Sept. 10.

Unfortunately, the recent avalanche of distressing economic news--especially impactful in a state with the nation's highest level of unemployment--seems to have moved the expensive Great Lakes State out of McCain's reach. The two polls released since Sept. 24--PPP and the Detroit Free Press--show Obama ahead by 10 and 13 points, respectively, and his average lead has more than tripled (from 2 percent to 7 percent) over the past three weeks. McCain's internal polling likely confirms these margins (otherwise, he'd be staying put). As a result, Republican strategists I spoke to last night in St. Louis said that the Republican nominee would now reinvest his Michigan resources in a quartet of Kerry states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota and New Hampshire. "He could take any one of them," an RNC bigwig told me.

But while the GOP is outwardly optimistic, a closer look at the numbers shows that McCain is no stronger in these states than in Michigan. McCain's strongest pick-up possibility is probably the unpredictable Granite State, where Obama now leads by an average of 4 points but where McCain has a long history of electoral success. Still, the senator would need more than New Hampshire's four electoral votes to make up for likely losses in Iowa and New Mexico--and neither Wisconsin, Minnesota or Pennsylvania is currently leaning his way. In Wisconsin, he trails by 5 points; in Minnesota, he lags by 5.7; and in Pennsylvania, he's behind by nearly 8. According to FiveThirtyEight.com, a site that blends current polling with demographic statistics and past electoral results to generate remarkably accurate Election Day projections--see its primary season record here--the only Kerry state that McCain has a better chance of capturing than Michigan (13 percent) is New Hampshire (37 percent). Pennsylvania, at 14 percent, is a wash; Minnesota and Wisconsin (8 percent each) are probably out of reach.

Ultimately, then, McCain's Michigan withdrawal underscores how limited his electoral map has become. In confirming the news, McCain field director Mike DuHaime was quick to note that the campaign would move staff to Maine, which awards its electoral votes by congressional district. The announcement was revealing. Apparently, the McCain campaign is now staking its path to victory, at least in part, on Obama winning Iowa, New Mexico and Colorado and losing New Hampshire, which would result in a 269-269 draw--at which point McCain would turn to Maine's Second Congressional District (where Kerry won 52-46) for the tie-breaking vote. The problem with this scenario, though, is that's there's no room for error. For Maine to matter, Obama would have to lose his 4-point lead in New Hampshire; his 2-point lead in Ohio; his 3-point lead in Florida; his 0.5-point lead in Nevada; his 0.5 lead in North Carolina; and his 2.4-point lead in Virginia. Not one of them--all of them. Meanwhile, Maine's second district would have to break sharply with the rest of the state, which currently favors Obama by 7.6 percent. Could it happen? Sure. These stats are based on current polling, and as September showed us, voter preferences still fluctuate in response to events. It's just that at this point, Obama has a 7 or 8 plausible paths to 270--and McCain has only one. So for now it doesn't look likely.

Obama was a state legistlator for 8 years representing Chicago, a city of 2.8 mililion. while governor Palin represented 5000 for 8 years. for the last three years Senator obama represented 12.8 million people of Illinois while Palin for the last 2 years represented the 680,000 of Alaska. Obama may have a small amount of international experience, but Palin has NO international and no National experience what so ever.

This is a real picture of the "CONSERVATIVE" alaska governor.

Please don't give up hope. There's is a cure for FISA Derangement Syndrome (FDS). The primary symptom of FDS is recognizing the threat to our constitutional and 4th Amendment rights and freedoms of the FISA 'Compromise' and then directly or indirectly supporting the candidate, John McCain, who wholly supports it and other restriction on those same freedoms. It's withdrawing our full support for the candidate, Barack Obama, who argues some judicial oversight is better than none and giving our support to the candidate and party that oversaw the greatest undermining of our freedoms since Nixon.

Remember, the condition is temporary. I was overcome with FDS for a moment or two before seeing the light. A moment of common sense was the cure. I realized that Barack Obama has fought for the same constitutional rights and freedoms I believe in. I realized that almost everything I cared about would be threatened if Bush/McCain remained in power and appointed our next 2 or 3 Supreme Court Justices. I could not turn against the candidate, Sen. Obama, who inspired me and millions of others to participate and give for the first time because I disagreed with his actions on FISA. Instead, my commitment was renewed. I'm All in for Obama.

I trust Obama will make a difference on restoring the constitutional rights and freedoms lost during the Bush Administration.

I trust Obama will carefully withdrawal our troops for Iraq and focus on the real threat in Afghanistan, Iran and our economy here at home. I didn't need to read the Jed Report to realize that Obama had Not flip-flopped on withdraw of our troops as suggested by CNN and the so called liberal media.

I trust Obama will retain a women's right to choice while protecting the life of the mother and the rights of the unborn child in the 3rd trimester.

I trust Obama will address our need for energy independence comprehensively with a focus on investing in green technologies, clean alternative energies, bio-fuels, and higher fuel efficiency standards for cars. I understand that investing in green technologies and taxing polluters will not only help protect our environment and the world. It will provide million of jobs, a more robust and competitive auto industry and an immediate and longterm solution to our dependence on foreign oil. Expanding the 68 million acres of offshore drilling already leased by big oil and increasing government investment already in the hundreds of billions for increased domestic production 20 years in the future is not a reasonable option.

I trust Obama will invest in the vital repair of our infrastructure and provide the necessary stimulus to our jobs market and economy.

I trust Obama will provide the bottom up tax relief to Americans making under $150,000 a year (3 times the relief proposed by McCain) that is needed to help stimulate our economy.

I trust Obama will make the investment in early childhood education and college tuition support necessary to make American competitive in the world market.

I trust Obama has the top down support of elected representatives and bottom up support of the electorate to truly make a difference.

The liberal blogosphere was aflame today with new accusations that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill) is trying to win the 2008 presidential election.

Suspicions about Sen. Obama's true motives have been building over the past few weeks, but not until today have the bloggers called him out for betraying the Democratic Party's losing tradition.

"Barack Obama seems to be making a very calculated attempt to win over 270 electoral votes," wrote liberal blogger Carol Foyler at LibDemWatch.com, a blog read by a half-dozen other liberal bloggers. "He must be stopped."

But those comments were not nearly as strident as those of Tracy Klugian, whose blog LoseOn.org has backed unsuccessful Democratic candidates since 2000.

"Increasingly, Barack Obama's message is becoming more accessible, appealing, and yes, potentially successful," he wrote. "Any Democrat who voted for Dukakis, Mondale or Kerry should regard this as a betrayal."

Liberal bloggers said that they would be watching Sen. Obama's vice-presidential selection process "very closely" for signs that he is plotting to win the election.

"Barack Obama still has a chance to pick someone disastrous as a sign that he wants to lose this thing," Ms. Foyler wrote. "If not, he should brace himself for some really mean blog posts."

It is time to really start hitting back, given the furor over the "bitterness" quote. This is what I would say.

Hilary says that she is a fighter. And I agree she is a fighter. But the question is this, "Who will she be a fighter for?" The laid off workers in the rust belt throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania or for the lobbyists who have given her family $800,000. Who will she be a fighter for- the middle class or the lobbyist- still unknown- who have financed her husbands library.

The people have financed my campaign for one reason. The people want a president who is beholding to no one except the people. A president who will fight every day for folks who can't sleep at night because of debt and fear. People who the don't show up in the unemployment figures because they have lost their hope of finding a job.

NAFTA
We have to let the people of rural conservative Independent Pennsylvania know that the Clinton's are just as responsible for this economic recession as the bush administration.

The Clinton administration is responsible for NAFTA, Which is why companies like Wal-Mart out source jobs to foreign countries and destroyed small businesses in America. This act not only took millions of jobs away from the American people, but it kept the minimum wage at $5.15 for years since 1997. Today it has been risen to about $1.50 more, thanks to Bush and the Fair Minimum Wage Act.

Hilary is a liar, and her tactic is to pin issues started by her husband's administrations on other people. These lies stick for just long enough to trick voters into casting their votes for her. She needs to be stopped!

People might be concerned about the Reverend
But people need to be informed that the media's sudden discovery of Reverend Wright and his congregation is a ploy to destroy Obama and the grassroots movement.

Reverend Wright has been known in the political arena for decades now. He tended to President Lyndon B Johnson in 1966 when he started having heart problems. Wright received a letter of commendation for this.

Bill Clinton invited Wright among other spiritual leaders to the white house in 1998 to spiritually aid him through the Monica Lewinski fiasco. We need to educate people because the media is not going to do it for us.

The wisdom and nobility of the Barack Obama campaign is uncanny. We all know that at the height of the Jeremiah Wright controversy Senator Obama chose not to throw Rev. Wright under the bus, which was not only courageous beyond the capability of any modern political figure, it was the kind of wisdom that reveals itself so tactfully it pushes the boundaries of its genius.

Barack Obama arrived in Chicago in 1991 as a community organizer. He was there fighting for broken and low income communities and pushing to have their voices heard. He utilized the same grassroot techniques that he uses in this presidential election to organize the city. In a task to help those communities rebuild themselves, he registered over one hundred thousand voters, and granted the people in that community the power to speak for themselves (this allowed Bill Clinton to win Illinois in 1992). He worked very closely with churches to achieve this task.

With a congregation of 8,000 people, The Trinity United Church of Christ is the biggest church in the community. He connected himself with that church to organize the people in that community at a mass level. I already knew this was the reason Barack Obama was connected with The Trinity United Church., so I immediately assumed the Obama campaign would explain this to the media, but they didn’t. After waiting an entire week, they release a Pennsylvania ad titled "Opportunity" illustrating in 61 seconds the technique used to help the people of south side Chicago.

During the media’s repeated abuse of the Obama campaign over the weeks, I slowly began to lose hope. I thought that for another four years we would again fall victim to the Special Interest. It seemed that more and more bad news would vilify the Obama Camp. In the midst of these controversies, Barack Obama stayed calm. I struggled to understand why Barack Obama continued to present himself in such a calm fashion. It seemed that we had hit rock bottom, and to make matters worse the Obama Campaign decided to release a photo of Bill Clinton and Jeremiah Wright shaking hands. I did not understand the significance of the photo’s release; it seemed to be an act of desperation. Finally, it hit me.

That picture is a photograph taken at the White House in 1998 during a prayer breakfast hosted by Bill Clinton at the height of the Monica Lewinski fiasco. That photograph not only serves to remind us of the controversy that comes with a Clinton White House, but to visually show us that Reverend Jeremiah Wright is well known in the political arena, and the media’s sudden discovery of his existence is nothing short of a ploy to inspire voter fear.

Here is another photograph of Reverend Wright tending to President Lyndon B Johnson in 1966, for which he received a letter of commendation from Washington.
