Instead of just giving "GM" money, why don't the government buy some of their cars in all the states, that total the amount of the money they are requesting. Once they buy the cars, they should turn around and sell those cars to the American people via government based loans for 1/2 price with a small interest rate, not to go over 10%. But that way, at least the car companies will get their money, their products that are sitting there not being bought will be moved, Americans can afford new cars, and the goverment will get 1/2 their money back plus interest. Now, the head executives of these companies should also have to reconstruct their entire financial plans, starting with their salaries, and they have to agree to government audits every quarter.
