Reboot Washington (dot org)

Barack started the fire that consumes this Nation. We sense an opportunity to believe again. Not only has Barack Obama become an icon for politics that deserves our trust, but the ideas he proposes are exciting to stand behind.

Reboot Washington (www.rebootwashington.org) is one of the ways I'm trying to help during this exciting time in history. The site is a one-stop-shop for campaign information and resources for Texans. It has links, downloads and resources in both English and Spanish. I'm just one voice among the millions who are finding that our time has finally come. "We are ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."

It's time to Reboot Washington.

Host your files for GOTV efforts!

Hello all,

I've tried to keep my site, www.rebootwashington.org, up to date to serve as a one-stop-shop for information, links to official resources, downloadable signs and flyers from all over (in both English and Spanish).

I had a request from one group to host their signs and flyers on my site. The idea was that they could send their volunteers to the site to download and print the things they would be using in their area.

I wanted to extend that offer to any other groups that would like their files to be hosted. If you'd like to have them online and available, just contact me through the email links on the site.

If you need a little help getting your materials ready to host, feel free to ask and I'll see what I can do.

Take care!

--Kevin

www.rebootwashington.org

HQ Confirms: Reboot Washington dot Org, "...great!"

Dear Friends,

One individual has raised concerns about the content of my web site, www.rebootwashintgon.org. Claims have been made that would seem to indicate that "Headquarters" objected to some of the resources I linked to. Wanting to make sure I remained "above board," I called and emailed HQ directly to get to the bottom of it.

Thankfully, I'm happy to report that Headquarters has emailed me after reviewing the site, and finds no reason to have any concerns. The relevant portion of the email from HQ follows, personally identifying information has been removed:

***
Hi Kevin,

Thanks for getting in touch! [...] I took a look at your website, however, and it looks great! In regards to copyright materials, your flyers are fine to distribute. As far as the concern about in kind donations, here are the FEC guidelines:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/resourceguidesfg/

I hope this helps, thanks so much for helping Barack win Texas!

Caitlin
Obama for America
***

From this, I can only believe that the situation has been resolved. Thank you to all who are sending new links and resources. I add them as quickly as I can!

--Kevin

Evolution of Change (and a web site)

The grassroots movement is heating up in Texas! I've formed a web site to help pool links and campaign resources for Texas grassroots movements. The goal is to be a one-stop-shop to find the active groups in Texas, links to their official blogs and event calendars, links to critical Official information and downloadable handouts in both English and Spanish.

There is still work to be done, but there's no reason the site couldn't be put to immediate use. If you need resources, please feel free to use the site. If you know of other resources that would be beneficial to others, please let me know and I'd be happy to add links to them.

You'll find the site here: www.rebootwashington.org

--Kevin L.

Howdy from Texas!

I've not been much of a blogger lately, but I've been busy. I've just finished tightening the screws on the site we'll be using in parts of Texas to organize volunteers and distribute materials. It will be a "one stop shop" for links, information and downloadable/printable materials for use with your own campaigns.

Please visit www.rebootwashington.org to see how it's coming along. Big thanks to Veronica Fuentes for helping coordinate this effort.

--Kevin L. McDonald

Change in Amarillo, Texas

Hello Texas Panhandle!

Today, among other exciting news which I'll let Veronica or George share, many Amarillo Barack Obama supporters met at Memorial Park alongside Washington street.

We held signs, waved and smiled. Many people honked, or smiled, or pumped enthusiastic fists behind their windshields and out of open car windows as they passed. Some were negative, yelling obscenities or "flipping the bird," even with children standing around.

More than anything else, it was beautiful to show Amarillo that, yes indeed, there are Obama supporters here. You don't have to be afraid or ashamed, even in a highly Republican area. I had several conversations with passerbys who were curious to talk to "real Barack supporters."

Even though some held different views, those who stopped to talk were open and honest, and so were we. It was nice to have intelligent, even passionate discussions without ever needing to resort to smear tactics or negative campaigning.

Yes we can, Amarillo, and we're already doing it. Join us!

--Kevin L. McDonald

CNN Reports: Mitt Romney will suspend his campaign

One more down, one more to go in the GOP race for the primary nomination. The frenzy is circulating that Mitt Romney plans to suspend his campaign for nomination. By suspending and not outright pulling out, Romney will keep the delagate votes that he has earned so far. If one of the other candidates suddenly cratered, Romney could step back in. I'm told this is similar to how John Edwards removed himself from the race.

McCain Struggles to Unite His Party - Barack Aims Higher

Shortly following Senator McCain's strong but lackluster victory on Super Tuesday, he now finds that he's got his work cut out for him just being accepted by the GOP. CNN reports McCain as saying, "We will unite the party behind our conservative principles and move forward and win the general election in November."

What strikes me is how limited Senator McCain's vision is. While he struggles to unite his own party, Barack Obama sees people from all parties, races, religions and walks of life joining together. That, I believe, is what is feeding the momentum. I believe that we're ecstatic to have finally found someone to believe in and stand behind.

I've never missed an election, and I've never before been so excited to vote for a president.
