Barack's Recent Comments on Wright

I am glad that Barack decided to address the recent Rev. Wright comments. Let me also say that I think Wright is an intelligent man, but is doing this country a disservice when he chooses to bring himself to the political front instead of letting Barack address the real issues at this critical time in his campaign.

I have listened to the quoted/looped speeches of Wright in full and did not take offense at them. But to essentially say that Barack is a typical politician as he did yesterday gives me great pause. The Moyers interview was excellent and had Wright stopped there, I think that people would have been more understanding to his positions and comments. Unfortunately, it looks like the media spotlight on him brought out comments and ego that many do not relate to or agree with.

I honestly think that Wright is trying to expand the broader picture of race and religion in this country, but is just going about it the wrong way at the wrong time.
Race in America: Barack Obama starts a worthy discussion

As a white American male, I welcome the latest frank discussions about race. I recently began peeling back my personal comfort insulation, and have, over the last few days really started to listen and try to understand the race issue more completely. I want to thank everyone for their comments and insight on the HQ blog recently.

Let me also say that I never really thought I was lacking in my grasp of race in America, but I have moved my knowledgebase further in the last week than I have in the past year.

On Anderson Cooper 360 last night 3/20/2008, Roland Martin mentioned that when he tells people what college he attended, they ask him if played football, instead of asking what he majored in. I know it does not sound like much initially, but his comment cuts to the core of things, in fact, I have been thinking about his statement deeply for the better part of the day.

Due to social conditioning people tend to draw from a large pool of stereotypes rather than engage in real discussion. I am not saying it is anyone’s fault, but a disservice is done to all races when this occurs. Stepping out of our stereotypes takes effort. More often than not the easy road is preferred while the road less traveled is the one that will lead to racial healing. I will be making a more conscience effort in the future to discard social norms and have real discussion when circumstances like this arise.

Thank you Barack Obama for getting the discussion started and for causing me to think deeper about race in America.
Help make a real difference right now!

We are all paying such a high price for this war. It is now time to wrap this nomination up. The best way to do this is to help get out the vote.

I have donated time and money to this campaign (money that I can hardly afford to part with.) I do this because I feel at this place in our country’s history we all need to make sacrifices to bring about real change.

When I am financially tapped out during any given month, I create signs for people to download and print to show their support for Barack Obama. More than 25 signs can be downloaded here.

I even step out of my comfort zone from time to time and make calls to help get out the vote in the upcoming states. The online calling tool is great and really makes the task easier than you would expect. You can get started making calls here.

Bottom line, please do something to assist in wrapping this thing up! I for one do not want to look back on this opportunity and wish I had done something more to secure the nomination for Barack.

If you like what I am doing and would like to show you support, you can donate to my fundraising campaign here.

YES WE CAN!
Barack Obama, The Moose & The Blueprint for Change

Ok, I could not resist taking this photo, I call it:
Barack Obama, The Moose & The Blueprint for Change

Up here in Idaho, it has been a heavy snow year and so the local moose have taken to town due to ease of movement. So, there I am minding my own business looking at www.barackobama.com and this is what I saw out the window of my home office.

Enjoy.
