Oh this is something that parents and kids need to know. McCain has said today in an answer at a town hall meeting that he agrees that if he is going to follow "Osama Bin Laden to the gates of Hell" (as he is so fond of saying) that we may have to reinstate the Draft. Oh this man has got to be stopped! We are in the heat of veep right now. I just want to say that I think Biden would be a great choice! There are many good choices maybe some we haven't even been hearing about. Well anyway...have fun watching your phones everyone. I had a few meetings today that made my text sound go off, I can tell you made my heart stop several times. I'm sure watching for it.

We had a great time at the Emancipation Festivities in Hutchinson. Personally I think we did a very good job and made a difference. Not only did we register some new voters, We talked to lots of people. We propelled many of these people to think about their vote, some to change their minds, some to firm up their minds and even talked to some too young to vote who felt inspired to go home and help the campaign in their own home towns. It was a good day! Way too too HOT ....but a good day.

Chance to register some new voters. Thank you Liborio for your inspired Idea!!! We plan to register voters during the Emancipation Parade Sat. What a great opportunity. I plan to take a clip board, registration forms , pens and my feet. I plan to walk the crowd from about 10:30 to 12:00 The parade starts at 11:00 and should go from 12th street down to Carey Park where there will be a picnic.

Salina, Lindsborg

Hey everyone, There are two great events happening close to Hutch. I've been talking to a gentleman getting both of these going. I'll include part of what he has said here. Ones in Salina on July 11th, the Other in Lindsborg this weekend. I can not attend Lindsborg but will be attending the one in Salina. Salina will run late, late enough for me to go. I'm excited and I sure hope some of you will attend also. Sign up if you can!!

And if you can encourage anyone to come to the Saturday event here in Lindsborg, please do, we got a very inspiring video from the campaign and will be showing it more thanonce, I am sure. I actually got a call from the Chicago office, WOW! I was shocked, seems like they really have it together for this weekend, over 3000 events like this one.

So, don't hesitate to come to Salina on the 11th, if you get there early, we could uses some help hosting the event, greeting peopleas they show up and signing them onto an email list. So far it looks like James Bordonaro and Lee Jones will be there, still waiting to hear from a couple others, it you know someone who might want a turn at the mic, please forward them my email address.

And bring the kids to Salina on the 11th, we are going to videotape some of this event and send it back to the campaign, and I would like to have as many yongsters (of all ages) in the video if possible.

This was not my idea, but thought it was cute (and an easy amount). Now... I have donated twice this month ... but...as you probably know, Hillary has had several pushes for donations this month. Her campaign has been cash strapped. She hasn't been paying her bills on time. But she always seems to bounce back at the end! Bill sent out an e-mail yesterday asking for last minute donations. Make a statement with yours. Donate $37.00 in honor of Barack's bowling score of 37. :( (not very good) but like he said, his economic plan is alot better! Thank goodness.

The Media Disservice to America

The Main stream Media has been a force in America that is hard to ignore. I have spent this week Trying to Understand... and take part in some of this discussion on Race in America. I want you all to know that this man, Pastor Wright, that has been so villified by the American Media has also been honored many times, and I kept wondering why? Well I have been able to find a few links to some amazing writing on the internet. Full Sermons of Pastor Wright are a FAR FAR DIFFERENT STORY from that presented by the Media. Anderson Cooper 360 has 2 of his sermons up on his website. Rolland Martin the commentator on CNN from time to time contributed these. They need to be read. Its not all comfortable but its not all bad either. I can certainly see why Sen. Obama will not denounce the man. I was indeed very proud of how he has conducted himself over this whole nonsense. Also Baracks speech was Brave and Historic you all know that don't you? Gov. Bill Richardson's endorsement of Sen. Obama was brave too. I salute him and am grateful to him. I know, that we all know this but....it has been reinforced to me tenfold lately. Fox News in neither fair nor balanced. It should hardly be called news. I would almost call them evil. They do not report the facts. I hope that everyone who reads this will remember the promise of spring and the promise of our great country and gently help others become more fair and wise. Read all you can. Write when you can, Call when you can, and make a difference. This is our chance to change this country. Its our generations chance to make our Beloved United States of America a Better place.

Clinton campaign called on Canada to tell them take with "a grain of salt" what I'm saying in my campaign about NAFTA then took a retracted comment from Canada to claim Sen Obama had trust issues on Nafta. Hurt him in Ohio.

Two people very close to me are having major problems this week. One in conjunction with the Mortgage Crisis, the Other some pretty serious medical problems. I believe both of my loved ones will be alright in the end. I work at a bank.. I see so often people who are going under due to those pay day loan companies and Overdraft Fees. The two combined....too hard to overcome for most people who live month to month. I see many seniors who rely on interest income from their cd's now making only a paultry bit of interest...these seniors need more to help them meet their cost of living increases. I'm glad that I get to work in Customer Service because there are some things I can do to help them. This all serves to reinforce my commitment to this movement. Barack addresses each of these issues with logical, thoughtful and innovative ideas. WE ALL NEED to make sure that we help by making a few calls to Texas or Ohio, or maybe make a contribution to this campaign fueled by the people...not the Pharmacy Co. or the Health Insurance Companies, or the Big lenders. Take charge. Were nearing the home stretch of the Primary. YES WE CAN!!!! But then this is just the beginning. A tremendously exciting envigorating empowering beginning.

We arrived through the blowing snow visibility down to 1/4 mile. We arrived an hour ahead of time, The cars and lines where overwhelming. I have never seen so many people in one place at one time in Kansas (except for the state fair) We weren't lucky enough to get into the auditorium. We were put in a warm (thank god!) overflow room. We had a large viewing screen for the speech. Everyone around us whom I spoke to, the very most pleasant sorts of people, all kinds of people....Young, old, women, men, suits, workers, rich, poor, of all colors and backgrouds, and all very thankful to be out of the cold Kansas wind. We got the best surprise as secret service guys came in just ahead of Barack himself!! He was greeted with screams and a thunderous reception. People all rushed up to just be near him. What a thrill. Barack was so nice and gracious. Telling us he wanted to stop by, sorry that we couldn't all fit into the auditorium, reflected that his grandfather was from ElDorado and stopped to shake hands and sign some autographs before his speech. I was about mid room at this time. I got a clear view of him but thats about all. My husband hoisted me up high above the crowd so that I could see him another time....I had not even a chance to shake his hand, though many, many people did. Just too many people...But thats good. The overflow room was overflowing and they said there was 2 overflow rooms. The other nice surprise. After his speech (a great speech) Barack introduced Gov. Sebelius, very respectful and full of kind remarks for her. called her his "friend" She endorsed him. She was gracious, and warm in her praise. I was proud. How inspirational and thrilling all of this was. Mostly because I found out something that I suspected all along. Barack is a really truley nice person. He is a light. All of those Kansas people braving the extreme wind and very cold temps were instantly warmed. We were seeing history. He will be out next president.

My mother gave my sister and I the book Portraits in Courage by John F. Kennedy, that was a long 40 some years ago. It is a young persons version from about 1965. Mother kept that in her library for all the years of her life, when she left this world I took the book home. I have always known in my heart that my mother would think as I do,that Barack is, in many ways, like JFK. I was just little when he was shot. I remember my mother crying as she was ironing the laundry. Today as I watched the Kennedys stand up there and endorse Sen. Obama with so much heartfelt eloquence, when I watched Barack speak afterwards. I began to cry. I thought of my mother and how much she would have loved Barack Obama. How she always hoped there would come another leader who was kind and free thinking and able to draw upon the best in all of us. Well I had to wipe away the tears and go back to work....but tomorrow I will take that book and go watch history in the making again. I hope I can get close enough to ask him to sign it. I doubt that I can but I will try. My mother would have liked that.

Did Hillary really say that? She just handed the people everything they need to know compared to Barack. Of course we need to discuss what we are going to do as far as foreign policy. Please do not retreat from open, frank, honest discussion of where we are going in the world. I think most of the people in the U.S. can understand that if we want anything we want to be talked honestly to. The pundits may poo poo speaking honestly about our foreign policy....but I think the people know better. Just like the people know better about lobbyist money. And treating other people (country's) the way we want to be treated. Speaking is always better than not. Sadly Hillary is sounding more and more like business as usual. Keep thinking outside of the box Sen. Obama!
