I am so excited about the event in Wisconsin on October 15th. Having worked up here all summer I can not begin to expalin the number of times I was asked when the senator was going to come up here. The campagin sees all of the great supporters in Wisconsin, and finally the Senator will address the large crowd of Wisconsin supporters. This is going to be a great event. Open House

We had our second open house at the new Volunteer Head Quarters! It was GREAT! There were about 50 people there to learn about what we are doing here everyday. Everyone in attendance received a tour of the office, as well as refreshments. I had the opportunity to lead this meeting which began shortly after the office tours. I went over many of the programs that we have going on in this office as well as the larger programs such as the Sister City Program. Many of the people in attendance were so excited to get involved that we found them a phone so that they could begin promptly. The open house was full of excited supporters! It was fun, stop by!

Wisconsin Fun

Whitney and I have made the trip up to Wisconsin this week. We are working the Obama for America table at the Democratic Convention in Milwaukee. Today we talked to many many great people who were just as excited about Senator Obama as we are! It was exciting! Lots and lots of people gave donations for bumper stickers as well as pins and t-shirts. The Obama for America table was SO BUSY! We will be back there again tomorrow, and if this is any indication, things are looking good in Wisconsin.

Thank you to everyone that helped today and that will help tomorrow. We appreciate all of your time, enthusiam, and support. KEEP IT UP OBAMA FANS!

Intern for Obama for America

I am just about a month into my internship at the Obama for America campaign. I began just after school let out (University of Wisconsin- Madison), and have not stopped working since. I was in the first “Camp Obama” session. There all of the interns were trained in campaign theory, effective community organizing, and policy. It was a very positive experience. I really gained a lot of valuable knowledge during this week. More then anything I learned how important Iowa is in a presidential campaign. Everything we are doing in Chicago is geared towards mobilizing voters in Iowa. I had known Iowa was important because of its early caucus, but I had no idea exactly how important Iowa could be. I didn’t even know what a caucus was until we did a simulation during Camp Obama.

The first week after Camp Obama ended was really fast paced and exciting.

There was a national walk for change that took place on June 9th. As interns it was our job to map out the routes and turfs for over 1,000 counties in Iowa. I drove 5 interns to Iowa on June 9th for the walk for change. We were in canvassing in Dubuque, and I even got to meet the Senator.

So far I am really enjoying my position. I am learning new things each day. This week has been geared towards field organizing. This is what I am going to be doing for the rest of the summer. I am really excited to go back to Wisconsin!
