Marcus Taylor's Blog

This blog is here because I have a lot of commentary on what is happening in our election. i believe that too much is missing in our news coverage, and i am deeply concerned that Americans are not seeing the whole picture.......I hope to add clarity and help the lost and the independent understand that America as we know it is in jeapordy. The choice we make for president this time around, could make or break our proud Country...

Commercials mean nothing, Personality means nothing, we need judgment not off the cuff decision making not Gut decisions form a 73 yr old.

Dang, McSame that was probably gas that mad you start WW III.

Duhhh......

We need Education, Ethics, Integrity, Truth, Motivation, we need our tax dollars invested in America not IraQ

Come on.......Really is it that hard.

The money is being spent; you have to pay taxes anyway

Why not see the result of that investment?

Better Educated Citizens, New manufacturing jobs..These jobs help the economy, is this so hard to see.........

The same tax money the government spends could either be given to companies and the top 5% as an additional tax deduction or it could be invested in Education, Infrastructure, incentives for companies to create Jobs.
JUDGEMENT ?

McSame is proving time and time again that the only Judgement he has, is the Judgement to lead Our Great nation "To The Gates of Hell"
He has no ideas that will help. his whole platform is a convolution of lies and deception to mask his recyeled Free market solutuions. Their solutions remain the same. leave the solutions to the free marktets, competition, will help prices and provide better services...No No No NO-It has NOT worked over the last 8 years when Republicans had total control over policy and an overwhelming majority in the House and Senate
Free markets are about profit, and in this age of massive de-regulation as promoted By Regan, the free markets are a dangerous place to allow to try to solve America's problems. We need real solutions for the future of our children.
Make the Right choice for Our Country

Obama/Biden
08/12
Cause it is going to take at least 8 years to fix the mess the republicans Have left!
JUDGEMENT, INTEGRITY, INTELLIGENCE, TRUTH

Buyer Beware

Republicans: This Party is Known for its' inability to admit a mistake even at the cost of American Lives. They were asleep at the wheel during 9/11 even after being warned by Wesley Clark and the previous administration of the threat of Bin Laden. They have they used fear, manipulation and deceit to strip away the rights of American Citizens. So now they have once again made a hasty decision for Purely Shallow Political Purposes, who in their right mind would expect them to ever admit it. This is further proof that MCSame has poor judgment and I for one do not like the idea of being lead "Straight to The Gates of Hell" by this puppet of the Republican agenda. Which seeks to Abolish the US Dept Of Education, Privatize Social Security, and Eliminate the group benefit and negotiating power employees have had since WW II via the employer sponsored healthcare system. They are truly the "You are on your own party"
Buyer Beware
Make the right Choice
Obama/Biden
08/12
Leadership, Judgment, Integrity, Truth

The McSame VP Pick What's Her Name? From So N So

I do not have anything personal agaisnt picking a woman as VP. But I would want a woman who has experience at least in a large population state in our county. This only proves that the Republican camp's attack on Obama concerning experience were totally false and promoted only to mislead the American People. Let 6 years in the Illinois senate fighting for ethics reform and helping to move people from welfare to work in the Land of Lincold compared to a mayor and governor, the most peopel she has represnted is somewhere between 5000 and 8000. Yea right i am no body's fool!Wake up America Enough is Enough!

This choice is a Smack in the face to a Strong fighter for women like Hillary Clinton, and such a sham to fool Hillary supporters to even think of voting for the Same ol politics the Republicans play........The Republicans were the worst critics of Hillary, and made the most sexist comments one could ever hear........The pick is a joke a sham, so please do not be fooled. The McCain agenda is still the Same agenda.....be on the look out for the next Carl Rove endorsed ad form the campaign. They will tell you next, that riding the subway is un American and expect you to believe it.WAKE UP AMERICA !!!!

Hillary will play an important role in the Obama/Biden Administration..She and they will fight for better and more affordable healthcare for All Americans. Instead of seeking to destabilize the best part of our current healthcare system as John McSame has pledged to do.have no doubt.

Jukebox John CHANGES WITH THE WIND

i AM ACTUALLY USING DATA FORM AN ONLINE SOURCE FOR THSI BLOG POST. i WILL PROVIDE THE LINK TO THE ACTUAL LIST OF FLOPS BY mc cain IT IS A GREAT SOURCE TO SEE WHERE THIS GUY HAS BEEN AND WHERE IS IS GOING

http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/flipflops
McCain has been in Congress for more than a quarter-century; he’s bound to shift now and then on various controversies. But therein lies the point — McCain was consistent on most of these issues, right up until he started running for president, at which point he conveniently abandoned literally dozens of positions he used to hold. The problem isn’t just the incessant flip-flops — though that’s part of it — it’s more about the shameless pandering and hollow convictions behind the incessant flip-flops. That the media still perceives McCain as some kind of “straight talker” who refuses to sway with the political winds makes this all the more glaring. Here’s the list. National Security Policy1. McCain thought Bush’s warrantless-wiretap program circumvented the law; now he believes the opposite.2. McCain insisted that everyone, even “terrible killers,” “the worst kind of scum of humanity,” and detainees at Guantanamo Bay, “deserve to have some adjudication of their cases,” even if that means “releasing some of them.” McCain now believes the opposite.3. He opposed indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. When the Supreme Court reached the same conclusion, he called it “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.”4. In February 2008, McCain reversed course on prohibiting waterboarding.5. McCain was for closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay before he was against it.6. When Barack Obama talked about going after terrorists in Pakistani mountains with predators, McCain criticized him for it. He’s since come to the opposite conclusion.Foreign Policy7. McCain was for kicking Russia out of the G8 before he was against it. Now, he’s for it again.8. McCain supported moving “towards normalization of relations” with Cuba. Now he believes the opposite.9. McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Hamas. Now he believes the opposite.10. McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Syria. Now he believes the opposite.11. McCain is both for and against a “rogue state rollback” as a focus of his foreign policy vision.12. McCain used to champion the Law of the Sea convention, even volunteering to testify on the treaty’s behalf before a Senate committee. Now he opposes it.13. McCain was against divestment from South Africa before he was for it.Military Policy14. McCain recently claimed that he was the “greatest critic” of Rumsfeld’s failed Iraq policy. In December 2003, McCain praised the same strategy as “a mission accomplished.” In March 2004, he said, “I’m confident we’re on the right course.” In December 2005, he said, “Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course.”15. McCain has changed his mind about a long-term U.S. military presence in Iraq on multiple occasions, concluding, on multiple occasions, that a Korea-like presence is both a good and a bad idea.16. McCain was against additional U.S. forces in Afghanistan before he was for it.17. McCain said before the war in Iraq, “We will win this conflict. We will win it easily.” Four years later, McCain said he knew all along that the war in Iraq war was “probably going to be long and hard and tough.”18. McCain has repeatedly said it’s a dangerous mistake to tell the “enemy” when U.S. troops would be out of Iraq. In May, McCain announced that most American troops would be home from Iraq by 2013.19. McCain was against expanding the GI Bill before he was for it.20. McCain staunchly opposed Obama’s Iraq withdrawal timetable, and even blasted Mitt Romney for having referenced the word during the GOP primaries. In July, after Iraqi officials endorsed Obama’s policy, McCain said a 16-month calendar sounds like “a pretty good timetable.”Domestic Policy21. McCain defended “privatizing” Social Security. Now he says he’s against privatization (though he actually still supports it.)22. On Social Security, McCain said he would not, under any circumstances, raise taxes. Soon after, asked about a possible increase in the payroll tax, McCain said there’s “nothing that’s off the table.”23. McCain wanted to change the Republican Party platform to protect abortion rights in cases of rape and incest. Now he doesn’t.24. McCain supported storing spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Now he believes the opposite.25. He argued the NRA should not have a role in the Republican Party’s policy making. Now he believes the opposite.26. In 1998, he championed raising cigarette taxes to fund programs to cut underage smoking, insisting that it would prevent illnesses and provide resources for public health programs. Now, McCain opposes a $0.61-per-pack tax increase, won’t commit to supporting a regulation bill he’s co-sponsoring, and has hired Philip Morris’ former lobbyist as his senior campaign adviser.27. McCain is both for and against earmarks for Arizona.28. McCain’s first mortgage plan was premised on the notion that homeowners facing foreclosure shouldn’t be “rewarded” for acting “irresponsibly.” His second mortgage plan took largely the opposite position.29. McCain went from saying gay marriage should be allowed, to saying gay marriage shouldn’t be allowed.30. McCain opposed a holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., before he supported it.31. McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.32. McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.33. In 2005, McCain endorsed intelligent design creationism, a year later he said the opposite, and a few months after that, he was both for and against creationism at the same time.34. And on gay adoption, McCain initially said he’d rather let orphans go without families, then his campaign reversed course, and soon after, McCain reversed back.35. In the Senate, McCain opposed a variety of measures on equal pay for women, and endorsed the Supreme Court’s Ledbetter decision. In July, however, McCain said, “I’m committed to making sure that there’s equal pay for equal work. That … is my record and you can count on it.”36. McCain was against fully funding the No Child Left Behind Act before he was for it.37. McCain was for affirmative action before he was against it.Economic Policy38. McCain was against Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy before he was for them.39. John McCain initially argued that economics is not an area of expertise for him, saying, “I’m going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues; I still need to be educated,” and “The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should.” He now falsely denies ever having made these remarks and insists that he has a “very strong” understanding of economics.40. McCain vowed, if elected, to balance the federal budget by the end of his first term. Soon after, he decided he would no longer even try to reach that goal. And soon after that, McCain abandoned his second position and went back to his first.41. McCain said in 2005 that he opposed the tax cuts because they were “too tilted to the wealthy.” By 2007, he denied ever having said this, and falsely argued that he opposed the cuts because of increased government spending.42. McCain thought the estate tax was perfectly fair. Now he believes the opposite.43. McCain pledged in February 2008 that he would not, under any circumstances, raise taxes. Specifically, McCain was asked if he is a “‘read my lips’ candidate, no new taxes, no matter what?” referring to George H.W. Bush’s 1988 pledge. “No new taxes,” McCain responded. Two weeks later, McCain said, “I’m not making a ‘read my lips’ statement, in that I will not raise taxes.”44. McCain has changed his entire economic worldview on multiple occasions.45. McCain believes Americans are both better and worse off economically than they were before Bush took office.Energy Policy46. McCain supported the moratorium on coastal drilling ; now he’s against it.47. McCain recently announced his strong opposition to a windfall-tax on oil company profits. Three weeks earlier, he was perfectly comfortable with the idea.48. McCain endorsed a cap-and-trade policy with a mandatory emissions cap. In mid-June, McCain announced he wants the caps to voluntary.49. McCain explained his belief that a temporary suspension of the federal gas tax would provide an immediate economic stimulus. Shortly thereafter, he argued the exact opposite.50. McCain supported the Lieberman/Warner legislation to combat global warming. Now he doesn’t.51. McCain was for national auto emissions standards before he was against them.Immigration Policy52. McCain was a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants’ kids who graduate from high school. In 2007, he announced his opposition to the bill. In 2008, McCain switched back.53. On immigration policy in general, McCain announced in February 2008 that he would vote against his own bill.54. In April, McCain promised voters that he would secure the borders “before proceeding to other reform measures.” Two months later, he abandoned his public pledge, pretended that he’d never made the promise in the first place, and vowed that a comprehensive immigration reform policy has always been, and would always be, his “top priority.”Judicial Policy and the Rule of Law55. McCain said he would “not impose a litmus test on any nominee.” He used to promise the opposite.56. McCain’s position was that the telecoms should be forced to explain their role in the administration’s warrantless surveillance program as a condition for retroactive immunity. He used to believe the opposite.57. McCain went from saying he would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade to saying the exact opposite.58 In June, McCain rejected the idea of a trial for Osama bin Laden, and thought Obama’s reference to Nuremberg was a misread of history. A month later, McCain argued the exact opposite position.Campaign, Ethics, and Lobbying Reform59. McCain supported his own lobbying-reform legislation from 1997. Now he doesn’t.60. In 2006, McCain sponsored legislation to require grassroots lobbying coalitions to reveal their financial donors. In 2007, after receiving “feedback” on the proposal, McCain told far-right activist groups that he opposes his own measure.61. McCain supported a campaign-finance bill, which bore his name, on strengthening the public-financing system. In June 2007, he abandoned his own legislation.62. In May 2008, McCain approved a ban on lobbyists working for his campaign. In July 2008, his campaign reversed course and said lobbyists could work for his campaign.Politics and Associations63. McCain wanted political support from radical televangelist John Hagee. Now he doesn’t. (He also believes his endorsement from Hagee was both a good and bad idea.)64. McCain wanted political support from radical televangelist Rod Parsley. Now he doesn’t.65. McCain says he considered and did not consider joining John Kerry’s Democratic ticket in 2004.66. McCain is both for and against attacking Barack Obama over his former pastor at his former church.67. McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but then decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks.68. In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.69. McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.70. McCain decided in 2000 that he didn’t want anything to do with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, believing he “would taint the image of the ‘Straight Talk Express.’” Kissinger is now the Honorary Co-Chair for his presidential campaign in New York.71. McCain believed powerful right-wing activist/lobbyist Grover Norquist was “corrupt, a shill for dictators, and (with just a dose of sarcasm) Jack Abramoff’s gay lover.” McCain now considers Norquist a key political ally.72. McCain was for presidential candidates giving speeches in foreign countries before he was against it.If and when you learn of a reversal that has not yet made the list, I hope you’ll let me know.Digg It!

Universal healthcare, just my two cents

Just my two cents

I think this is a good read.

FYI remember all that talk about Obama's plan possibly, still leaving it open for approx 15 million people to be and I quote "left out of his plan", and that due to this they didn't consider it Universal Healthcare….(45 million Americans right now now don't have coverage……….these numbers include the self employed as well).shouldn't our government do more for its tax paying citizens?

Pls note: this potential to have some people opt out of the system was more due to his plan not imposing mandates that all people buy insurance….usually when you have a mandate, you also have a fine for non compliance…………..which essentially means a plan with a mandate could potentially fine those who do not buy insurance thru the plan….now picture this a single mom working two jobs but cannot afford even the discounted plan implemented by the gov't……..

What happens when it is discovered this citizen is not participating……….and fine, usually garnished wages, for not buying the same insurance she feels she still cannot afford………………um would a system with a mandate really help or hurt more……something to think about…………..

Health Insurance Coverage

(Data are for U.S. for year indicated)

Persons under age 65

Support Your Candidate.

The has been a massive flurry behind Mr. Obama's decision to opt out of public finance. The thing that bothers me is the fact the no one is recognizing that this campaign, this movement, has been fully funded by individual donors for the candidate of their choosing. Donations to this campaign have come from everyday working individuals giving what they can. Obama has more donors than any other candidate approx 1.2 million and we, his supporters have provided him with the means to go this far because we believe in change. He has revolutionized public campaign finance so that voters have more control over where their assets go. Lastly why does no one mention that it was Mr. Obama who called for the DNC to no longer accept PAC money etc as soon as he became the presumptive nominee, no hesitation....In these bold actions "This Campaign for change." has taken an ultimate leap of faith for the American people. If "We the People" do not support thru financial donations and volunteering and the like the campaign will have significant difficulty in its ability to continue. This campaign has truly put its faith in the public to finance it one voter at a time...and that is an action that should definitely receive the highest of Praise...Obama 08 "Change We Can Believe In!"

THE SHAME OF THE NEWS MEDIA

Pls excuse any typos I was a bit emotional and rushed when I wrote this. It is just my opinion but I believe Mr. Obama should address this, either he or a surrogate. It’s just not right to attack Michelle this way, with lies to boot. And for CNN to perpetuate this lie further under the guise of responsible un-biased reporting is even more shameful.

THE SHAME OF CNN. Have you noticed the bias in reporting since Obama won the election. Now that the race is between Dems and Republicans it is becoming painfully obvious to me that CNN, is as biased if not more biased that FOX. I feel their recent reporting is divisive and shameful. They have moved away from the issues and blame it on the candidates. Spreading rumors that appear on the net without substantiation. (yes I know that the Dems started TOO MANY of these rumors against Obama) and that really makes them SPECIAL. Either way this is not what is best for America. And it makes me really start to wonder if either party is good for the masses of Americans who simply want a decent job a living wage and to give their children a better chance than they had….

The reporting of the
“Baby Momma” statement from FOX was disgusting.. It was repeated every hour on the hour and over n over again during the hour. And I watched it all night hoping some change would come to the story or the reporting of it. But noting new came out of it so I watched until I could take no more and changed the channel at 2am. In the end their opinion was that it is ok to attack THE WIFE OF a candidate for the President of the United States…..no there is no honor in our news nor our political system anymore. This "Me First" mentality that has been perpetuated by the Republicans is going to destroy all that is great about America.

The reporting by CNN, on all levels was truly sickening. To repeat the statement over and over again and such a racist statement is it especially in the context in which it was used is even more shameful.. They basically promoted and supported FOX in the ascertation that it is ok to defame Ms Obama. Watch your back Barrak, the kid gloves are off and too many in America don’t want the good that you will do to come to fruition. Our reporters too many are uninformed, un caring, and don’t realize or don’t care that to serve the best interest of the public is their duty. The media should be our informers, not just our reporters. News not longer truly investigates they just report sound bytes, whether they are Fact or Not.

De-regulation? Buyer Beware...

i just want to share my thoughts on further De-regulation of our industries/systems as Sen McCain has suggested

Some call it "Big Government" But Alll I want is competent Government" you know.....

a Gornment that works........

My understanding has always been that by regulating the industries in our country, our government was protecting our citizens from those who would do us harm either thru carelessness or simple greed.

Pls note that, people, in too many instances, are easily influencesd to do the selfish or greedy thing when striving and or achieveing success. trickle down economics doesn't work because if not forced to, those at the top don't necessairly share their wealth with the masses at the bottom.....(No table scraps for you)

If not for regulation, there would be no minimum wage, someone would pay you 2.00 per hour just to cut costs.......and wouildn't provide health insurance, you couldn't get FMLA for emergency situations and preserve your job.

I would almost equate De-regulation with lawlessness.....it's like saying we've taken away most of the rules, aND ALL OF THE MONITORING TO SEE WHO IS FOLLOWING THOSE THAT ARE LEFT, NOW GO PLAY...........'nO REFS, NO WHISTLES, PLAY BALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL-----"(DOESN'T SOUND GOOD NOW HUH)

without regulation and adequate funding of our government regulators Americans are left exposed to tainted Food,

(Bush had left out funding for the FDA in his most recent budget),

until people in multiple states died from tainted tomatoes.....yes read that again, left out funding for the govt dept that over sees FOOD SAFETY IN AMERICA.....

unsafe financial markets, predatory lending programs, and con artist who are not being policed in anyway.

DURIng THE BUSH YEARS, WE HAVE HAD OUR ENRON'S AND OUR FEMA MORONS ALL GIVE GLARING EXAMPLES OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE CHECKS N BALANCES THAT MAKE US a great nation and allows the USA to HAVE THE MOST TRUSTED AND STABLE FINANCIAL MARKETS IN THE WORLD, SOME OF THE SAFEST FOOD IN THE WORLD, AND EXCELLENT DISASTER RECOVERY PROGRAMS (oh sorry we get foreign aid across the ocean way befroe we can get an air drop toe the Gulf or even the mid west)

Are de-regulated, not monitored, and allowed to run amuck unchecked....those with power will use their advantage to increase their position and only their position nothing ever trickles down....and tell me what self respecting American wants a trickle down I am not afraid of hard work. I just want my government, for whom we as citizens are the biggest contributors (via taxation), to keep an eye out to be sure I am not robbed of my hard work....

i don't want to ramble so I will end with this.

Regulation as well as checks n balances are absolutely necessary if order to maintain a fair system of competition. Regulation is designed to even the playing field a bit so that none can take an unfair advantage. Regulation is absolutely necessary because even in our free market system, those with alot of resources have a distinct advantage over those with limited resources....and the primary way to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to legitimately achieve success is via "Regulation"

Say What? From Hillary to McCain (duhhhh) I don't think so!!

Pls note that anyone who was voted in the Democratic primaries For Senator Clinton, should never ever ever even conside a vote for Senator McCain. His values are completely opposite with Hillary's messages, what she has fought for, and what she stood for. Pls remember the Democratic primaries were so we could have a viable candidate to actually run for the White House and even though it was a heated race (made hotter by the media) it was a race for OUR candidate for POTUS. It was to decide who would go up against the Republicans in November.

Our true competition then and now is Sen McCain, and his record on women's issues is BBBBAAAADDDD....just review his voting record on Pay Equity Funding and prevention of teen pregnancy. HOW ABOTU HIS STATEMENT THAT HE WOULD PICK A SP JUSTICE TO OVER TURN ROE VS WADE...and Pls check how he voted on the equal rights amendment......NOT TO MENTION HIS 100 YRS WAR.....OR THE LACK OF IMPORTANCE TO HIM OF BRINGING HOME OUR TROOPS...He would rather count the casualities while we Stay The Course in Iraq

And let's not forget that his campaign has started the vicious lying rumor mill putting out false hoods already........

MCCain wants to talk about big spending, when we already are spending way more in Iraq and their infrastructure then we have on our own soil.....bridges, leeve's, power grids, and citizens. wake up people, the republicans don't mind big spending when they can direct the moneh for their own interest.....any recent no bid Haliburton contracts awarded lately.......in Iraq or here at home...

Let's look a the facts and make a good decision for our country and not one out of anger and spite..............

Hillary and Obama were then and still are now on the same side OUR side the side of the American People. Teh Dems will do what is best for the American people. not the side of Sen.

McCain......
