            <title>Too Much? Obama Tackles Health Care</title>
            <description>Those who say the President is taking on too much, remind me of a group of parents from my kid&#039;s school a few years back. They complained that the third grade teachers were assigning too much homework because they expected the students to spend at least 20 minutes a night completing assigned work. Of course, these same parents were concerned with reading and math levels at the school, and some even suggested that foreign-born students were bringing the scores down!&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; There comes a time when you have to get your priorities straight! With my parents, &#039;too much homework&#039; would have been an oxymoron! Homework came before all other activities and I was expected to complete it...even if I had to stay up late on occasion (of course, this was usually when I left some work to the last minute...I got punished a lot for this :)&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Telling the Obama administration to not tackle our health care problem, is like telling a drowning man to stop trying to get his head above water!&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Health care challenges are &#039;killing us&#039; literally and figuratively. Every family is either struggling with this problem, &lt;strong&gt;will be&lt;/strong&gt; struggling with this problem, or knows someone who is.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; We can&#039;t afford to get sick, and the American economy can&#039;t afford for us to get sick... the way the health care industry currently operates.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Money being spent on escalating health care costs, can&#039;t be spent in retail establishments, at car dealerships, for college education, to pay mortgages and debt, to buy gas, ...or most importantly, SAVED!&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Doing nothing and watching millions more Americans give up on trying to pay for health care, will only cost us more in the future as they show up at hospital emergency rooms.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; I am wondering....who are these people opposing health care reform?&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Surely not American families who can&#039;t afford rising premiums, deductibles, and co-pays.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Surely not employers who are also faced with escalating costs to insure workers.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Surely not the unemployed who are praying for a job before their COBRA runs out (if they can afford COBRA.)&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; And, surely not our aging boomers and seniors, some of whom have to choose between food and medicine.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Even with everything on his plate, President Obama &lt;strong&gt;has to&lt;/strong&gt; reform health care to prevent an America full of sick and bankrupt citizens</description>

            <title>The People&#039;s Business</title>
            <description>I voted for change, and so did most of the people around me. Here in Western Riverside County California we have been hit hard by the economic crisis &amp;ndash; with some of the highest foreclosure and unemployment rates in the country. We want change and we want it now!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not just change in the office of the Presidency, but also a change in the tone and behavior of our government leaders. We are sick of partisan politics and finger-pointing. We have no use for pundits and politicians&amp;mdash;many of whom are totally out-of-touch with everyday Americans&amp;mdash;giving us the same old buzz words, labels, and spin.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We want action. We want to move forward. We want a new game plan. We want solutions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Barack Obama is a smart guy who has a good grasp of our current situation in America. We have given him the ball and we need to let him run with it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He is doing the people&amp;rsquo;s business and Congress needs to get on board or get out of the way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We voted for change.</description>

            <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Now is the time!&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;While we are busy calling and canvassing, let&#039;s not forget those closest to us.&amp;nbsp; We may assume they are voting or have transportation to the polls...but maybe not.&amp;nbsp; Create a list of family, friends, and neighbors and make sure these folk are: 1.)             <title>We&#039;re Going All the Way....</title>

            <title>Pitbull Palin is a Product</title>

            <description>Looks like the GOP is ready to play name games with Senator Obama. They&#039;ve started throwing out the terms they want their surrogates to use.  &amp;quot;Arrogant&amp;quot; and &amp;quot;Opportunistic&amp;quot; are the ones they are using the most. These are code words to imply &amp;quot;uppity black man&amp;quot; to the American public. GOP surrogates are more than willing to get these phrases out there and try to paint a false picture.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; However...let&#039;s look at the picture Americans are really seeing:&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Gas...over $4.50 a gallon and climbing.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Milk...over $4.00 a gallon and climbing.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Iraq war casualties...over 4000 and climbing.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Iraq war injured...over 40,000 and climbing.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Americans without health care...over 40 million and climbing.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; High School dropout rate in America&#039;s 50 largest cities...over 40 per cent and climbing.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;And the GOP wants to play school yard games?             <description>&lt;p&gt;Now that both parties have a nominee, I am hoping that the national discussion will focus on the future of our great country. You see right now we are not only in a military fight, miles away, we are in the economic fight of our lives here at home! Everywhere I go I see casualties of this war:&amp;nbsp; the anguished looks at the gas pumps....the shock at the supermarket....the brown lawns of foreclosed homes....and the families that are crumbling under too much financial stress.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This economic war is &lt;strong&gt;DEVASTATING&lt;/strong&gt; to many Americans...regardless of income or geographic area.&amp;nbsp; We are collectively &#039;going broke.&#039; &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;What does the future hold?&amp;nbsp; We know conditions won&#039;t turn around quickly...but where is the relief?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Let&#039;s talk about what we as a nation can do to get back on track...no pandering...we know there will have to be hard choices and sacrifices...we know we have a candidate who will tell us the truth...let&#039;s get started!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Our future depends on it!&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>Lies, Lies, &amp; More Lies Got Us Into Iraq</title>

How about the Congress members who not only didn&#039;t ask enough questions...but AUTHORIZED the action (I remember Kennedy and Wellstone being the most vocal of the dissenters...and Byrd...where were the others?) How about the evangelicals who were USED by the warmongers to support the President at any cost?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And...what about all the American citizens who were more concerned with buying bigger houses and bigger cars and more toys, and didn&#039;t pay enough attention to what was going on at the time?&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>Extremely Disappointed in the Clinton&#039;s</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;I can&#039;t tell you how disappointed...and dare I say HURT, I am over the behavior of Bill and Hillary Clinton during this Democratic race.  I was one who supported them to the FULLEST during the scandals. I can&#039;t tell you how many arguments I had with friends and family members (including my spouse) about the Clinton&#039;s. I truly believed they were being persecuted, and I was very upset at the impeachment.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;My husband always believed the Clinton&#039;s were opportunists and that they lacked integrity. And, while I did believe that Bill Clinton dishonored the office of the Presidency (literally and figuratively), I saved my venom for what I thought were the hypocrites in the GOP.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have since apologized to my husband.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I can accept the toughness of a campaign and the desire to win...However....I cannot accept changing the rules in the middle of the game (cheating) or dividing your own &#039;family of supporters&#039; by race, gender, income, age, geographic area, and culture...to win an election.  Their motto seems to be &amp;quot;we will lie, cheat, or steal&amp;quot; to get to the White House.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes...I am angry and hurt! My prior rants about the Clinton&#039;s had more to do with the campaign...but, this is PERSONAL. Now, when she should be gracefully exiting the race, she continues to fuel the flames of division. And, to compare the 2000 Florida fiasco with what is going on now with the Florida and Michigan DNC delegates.....well that is beyond arrogance...it is beyond logic....and it is beyond behavior desirable in a Presidential candidate.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I see no difference between the Clinton&#039;s and the &#039;vast-right wing&#039; they complained about. I will be glad when we can close the book on all-of-it.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes...I am angry and hurt....I put too much effort into supporting Bill Clinton....I always thought that in spite of imperfections...they were people who would do the right thing and didn&#039;t deserve the vitriol that followed them every where they went.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I was wrong.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>Dear Undeclared Superdelegates...It is Time!</title>
            <description>It is time for the undeclared supers of the Democratic party to throw their support behind nominee-to-be Obama. As HRC continues to kneecap the front-runner, the party and grassroots supporters around the country are in limbo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is time to take on McCain and the Republicans! They are organizing and fundraising for the General while this nightmarish Democratic race continues. While HRC supplies them talking-points and divides the electorate (and compliments Karl Rove&amp;rsquo;s opinion) they are salivating&amp;hellip;..for the GOP it doesn&amp;rsquo;t get any better than this.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is time to say thanks&amp;hellip;but, NO THANKS to the Clintons. If they really cared about the party she wouldn&amp;rsquo;t be &amp;lsquo;appeasing&amp;rsquo; women and rural voters by insisting SHE is the only one who represents them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is time to stop the hemorrhaging!             <title>Wright is Wrong</title>
            <description>I suppose Reverend Wright&#039;s ego got the best of him and he couldn&#039;t hold &#039;it&#039; in any longer. His diatribes come at the worst possible time, and he seems determined to take us back to the talking points &amp;amp; tactics of the 1960&#039;s.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He is too intelligent of a man (I think) to have said some of the things he said yesterday morning, without knowing the effect it would have. Perhaps the beginning of senility?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If I didn&#039;t know any better, I would think he was working with the Clinton&#039;s. Hmmm.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He does not represent Barack Obama, he represents himself...whatever his motivations might be! Obama speaks of unity and moving us forward as a country. Wright divides us and takes us back. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am hoping Americans can see the truth. I am hoping that Wright&#039;s religion will move his ego out of the way, and he will exit the public arena. (I have said the same of the Clinton&#039;s who have fanned the flames of racial discord to win.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Obama&#039;s race toward the Presidency is &#039;bigger&#039; than us and it will continue.             <title>In the Meantime....</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;As certain politicians, and their supporters, volley around the wedge issues of race and religion in an attempt to beat back the momentum of the Obama campaign, we are not putting the focus where it needs to be in this country.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We are letting a mainstream media, which spends much of its time covering out-of-control celebrities, set the tone of our nominating process.&amp;nbsp; Of course they love controversy and slime...this is what they do these days!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In the meantime.....&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Our young men and women are being injured and killed daily in Iraq, and our national treasure (billions and billions) is being spent on a war that never should have started.&amp;nbsp; It is estimated that the war is costing us $275 million a day, and in the meantime.....&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Gas prices are spiraling and no one will tell us the truth about the competition for oil (and food), and that even if they go down a little bit soon, high fuel prices will continue in the years ahead, and in the meantime...&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Food prices are soaring...anyone who goes to the grocery store on a regular basis, and by that I mean at least once a week, will tell you that in some stores prices are changing daily...watch the faces of the elderly in the grocery store....they spend a long time in the staples section deciding what they can purchase (bread or milk?), and, in the meantime...&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Home prices are dropping like a lead balloon, and that back up plan we had to use our equity to help with college tuition, or to take care of our parents, or for our retirement, looks less and less likely, and in the meantime.....&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;We are trying to elect a candidate who &#039;gets it&#039; and will change how business is done in Washington.&amp;nbsp; The other candidates are part of the problem...their years of experience have not prevented any of the problems mentioned above!&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;I could go on...but YOU know what we are facing. We NEED Barack Obama as President, but in the meantime, we&#039;ve got to deal with pettiness, divisiveness, and selfishness.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Step aside Hillary, so we can focus on winning the general election and tackling the problems of everyday Americans!&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>We&#039;ve Come Too Far to Turn Around Now!</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;Like many of you, I&#039;ve been a supporter of Barack Obama since his awe-inspiring speech at the DNC convention a few years back. I was thrilled when he announced his campaign for the Presidency. I got involved in the ground campaign, wrote articles, blogged, and submitted comments on his behalf wherever I could!&amp;nbsp; (I still do.)&lt;br /&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I remember last summer when the polls reported that Obama was down by twenty or more points, and the media had practically coronated HRC.&amp;nbsp; I even remember her supporters unabashedly providing the political commentary on stations like CNN, as if they represented all Democrats.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;These were the type of things that were being reported at that time:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It was reported that HRC would get the Black vote because Obama wasn&#039;t Black enough.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that Obama&#039;s war chest of small donations, based on online giving, would not be enough for a long-term campaign.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that Obama supporters would not leave the comfort of their computer screens to campaign in their communities.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that white men would not vote for Obama.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that young people would not vote in droves.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that boomers would not embrace this campaign. It was reported that people in South Carolina were heavily in favor of HRC because of her husband.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;By the beginning of the year, the reporting had changed a bit, however:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It was reported that Obama would only win in caucus states. It was reported that Obama didn&#039;t have a strategy beyond Iowa.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that, if Obama lost California, he was out of the race.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that Obama could not get the backing of other Senators or senior members of the Democratic party.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that Obama would not get working-class women to vote for him.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that Obama would not get gray-haired women to vote for him.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that Obama would not get middle-class moms to vote for him.&amp;nbsp; It was reported that Republicans would not support a Democratic candidate in substantial numbers. It was reported that white men would not vote for Obama.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes...there was a lot of anti-Obama reporting going on!&amp;nbsp; And, as I recall, he didn&#039;t whine about it...he just kept going!!&amp;nbsp; HE PROVED THEM WRONG. He traversed the country with a message of hope and unity for a divided people.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Obama&#039;s message resonates to ALL searching for change in Washington and common-sense leadership. America &#039;gets it!&#039;&amp;nbsp; We know substance and quality when we see it.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Barack Obama has exercised good judgment throughout this campaign. This is the kind of class, leadership, and follow-through, that he will take to the White House!             <title>&#039;Just&#039;  Words</title>

            <title>Riverside Press-Enterprise Endorses Obama</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;The Riverside Press Enterprise endorsed Senator Barack Obama for the Democratic California Primary. I am now regional field organizer for Congressional District 44 (Riverside County) This was a big move for me, because I have NEVER been involved in a campaign!!             <title>A New Year....A New America</title>

            <title>Fired up &amp; Ready to Go!</title>
            <description>The major reporting from the wire services is that McCain, Clinton, AND Obama, picked up major endorsements. The timing of the Boston Globe endorsement was impeccable and shows that the Obama campaign is indeed a force to be reckoned with.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, we need to correct something I&#039;ve seen in several places ....so listen here: Obama IS NOT the underdog in this race. He is the FRONTRUNNER!!!! I believe he understands this now; Believe me...Bill Clinton understands Obama is the frontrunner. We have to act accordingly!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I suppose the 3 women at the DesMoines Register couldn&#039;t say no to their first endorsement of a woman presidential candidate....but, I don&#039;t think there was unity there.             <title>Boomers for Barack!</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;There is a discussion among Americans over whether the activist baby boomer generation got stuck in the 1960&#039;s.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I think the boomer generation didn&#039;t get stuck...we just abandoned a lot of our principles in favor of the rampant materialism that overtook this country during the Reagan years.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Like most of the country, we joined the bigger is better, spend..spend..spend...mentality that has got us to where we are now!  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Ecology took a back seat to bottled water.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Anti-war took a back seat to gated communities.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Civil rights took a back seat to &#039;looking out for # 1&#039;  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Education took a back seat to TV watching.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I am a boomer (52 years old) and I can tell you many activists changed as they got older, bought houses, and had kids. Many became more conservative...some stopped caring about life outside their own house!  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;However...Obama has reawakened this sleeping giant of activists! &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;At his event in L.A. on Monday night, the two groups MOST represented were college kids and boomers....and I can tell you, we boomers were still there dancing to Stevie Wonder and Mavis Staples long after the college kids left!!  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The boomer generation didn&#039;t get it wrong, they just forgot what they stood for. We WILL stand again. We boomers...who will NOT go quietly into the night...are still the generation that drives this country.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Thanks to Obama...we remember who we are!&lt;/p&gt;</description>

You see&amp;hellip;.these aren&amp;rsquo;t just any Americans to me&amp;mdash;these are my friends, neighbors, and community leaders&amp;mdash;many of whom have never been involved in a political campaign.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;These are the people I see at the shopping center, at the gas station, at the school, and at church.             <description>&lt;p&gt;The group fundraiser for &#039;Boomer Women for Obama&#039; is about to kickoff!&amp;nbsp; Our theme is &#039;Change for Change&#039; and we have been searching old purses and scrounging around the house collecting loose change.             <title>Family Voting Day</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;Don&#039;t know about you...but, I can&#039;t wait for &lt;strong&gt;FAMILY VOTING DAY&lt;/strong&gt; which for me will be February 5.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;On that morning, I will go to my local voting site with my husband, and we will vote. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;When I drop my kids off at school, I will talk to the other parents, encourage them to vote, and offer a ride to anyone who needs it. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I will drive my mom and her friends to their voting sites.&amp;nbsp; I will call my friends and relatives to remind them to get out and vote. I will drive forty miles to pick up my in-laws and get them and their friends to their voting sites. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I will pick up my son from the high school and take him and his friends to vote (even if I have to drive them all over town). This will be the first time voting for most of them, and I will make a big deal out of it -- maybe even have a party for them at my house! That afternoon, I will re-check in with family, friends, and neighbors to make sure they voted...even picking them up and taking them if I have to...oh heck...I&#039;ll invite them to my party also!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So you see, I&#039;m looking forward to &lt;strong&gt;FAMILY VOTING DAY&lt;/strong&gt;! But, long before I will have let everyone know why we need to elect Barack Obama and why he best represents our interests...locally, nationally, and internationally.             <title>The Coronation of the Clinton&#039;s - I Get it Now!</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;For the past few months, and especially the last few weeks, I have watched the MSM headlines and pundits unashamedly favor Clinton as the Democratic nominee.  I had assumed that the Clinton machine, which has had years to plan and plant supporters into media organizations, was the reason. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I still believe this to be partially the case&amp;hellip;however after viewing parts of the Republican debate last night, and watching Republican candidates make the same assumption about Clinton&amp;rsquo;s inevitability, I finally get it!  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Republicans desperately WANT to run against the Clintons ...so they are probably helping with polling, pundits, and fundraising on behalf of the Clintons.  Republican&#039;s are practically chomping at the bits for another battle with the Clinton&amp;rsquo;s. And&amp;hellip; I believe it works both ways&amp;hellip;the Clinton&amp;rsquo;s are chomping at the bits to take on the Republican&amp;rsquo;s and get revenge for the humiliation they suffered regarding the Lewinsky affair and numerous other Republican-led investigations during their past tenure.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It is understandable that the ex-president and his wife would want to rewrite their legacy. Beyond that, I think their raw ambition has them convinced they can lead the WORLD (an unofficial King and Queen)  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;If Clinton were to win the Democratic nomination, America will be subjected to one of the ugliest, most bitter campaign seasons we have ever seen. It would surpass Gore-Bush and do nothing to heal the partisan divide that was heightened after that &amp;lsquo;election.&amp;rsquo; A Clinton versus Republican race for the White House would be TOO divisive for our country. We would go through more years of gridlock, investigations, and nastiness&amp;hellip; regardless of which side won.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Republicans want Clinton to run because they strongly believe they can beat her. So Republican operatives, like Clinton operatives, are &amp;lsquo;coronating&amp;rsquo; her as the Democratic nominee! I wouldn&amp;rsquo;t be surprised to hear Republican money found its way to her campaign coffers in the third quarter to assure a win in fundraising.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yeah&amp;hellip;I get it now. We are being set up for the battle to end all battles&amp;hellip;.Clinton versus a Republican candidate for president. Who will win? Definitely not the American people.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We need to make this clear to the electorate. They need to understand why we need a break from the past and a uniter like Barack Obama. I hope people will wake up to this &#039;rush to battle&#039; being waged on us by the Clinton&#039;s AND the Republicans!  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Go Obama! &lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>Why Obama Supporters Keep Believing</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;We&#039;re called &#039;na&amp;iuml;ve&#039; and some consider us &#039;irresponsible&#039; for throwing our support and resources behind an upstart candidate&amp;hellip;.a newcomer who has captured the imagination of Americans of all ages, of all ethnicities, of all incomes, from coast-to-coast.  Despite the constant bombardment of &#039;spin&#039; and &#039;polls&#039; which insinuate there is really only &#039;one&#039; candidate for the democratic nomination (and the presidency!) we keep going and we keep believing.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Why?  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;We are tired of POLITICS AS USUAL in our country. We are tired of having to hold our nose when we vote. Instead of choosing between the lesser of two evils&amp;hellip;we want to choose from the best and the brightest! Barack Obama is the best and the brightest of the candidates running. Few would discount his intelligence, but it goes beyond that. Obama has the character and judgment that has been lacking in some of our brilliant politicians.   We cannot continue with POLITICS AS USUAL and more of the same. Change is more than a word that one picks up when it is convenient to do so. Barack Obama embodies change more so than any other candidate. As one of my Republican friends put it, &amp;quot;He&amp;rsquo;s fresh. He hasn&amp;rsquo;t been tainted like the candidates who have been around awhile.&amp;quot; Obama doesn&#039;t have &#039;axes-to-grind&#039; or major corporate interests to please. This is why we have gridlock in Washington and our country suffers from it. This is the reason we don&#039;t have healthcare, a workable energy policy, or inspected food and toys. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;We want the war to end, and our country to be protected. As long as our government is locked in partisan politics, scandals, and finger pointing &amp;ndash; the hard decisions will not be made. We trust Barack Obama to put all his energy into making America safe and secure, and undoing this &#039;mess&#039; in the middle east our Congress authorized. With an Obama administration we won&#039;t have to pay marketing or PR consultants to help us develop a better image in the Middle East. We will have a president that has lived among the people of the world and can communicate with them in an effective way. (And&amp;hellip;he is not afraid to talk to them and &#039;tell-it-like-it-is&#039;....yes, we need someone who has worked in the south side of Chicago)  We believe President Obama will not rest until our troops are home in the most timely way possible. He won&#039;t get to the white house and start posturing and planning his reelection. He will get there and do OUR BUSINESS.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;We want unity, not polarization. We believe Barack Obama will unite this country by turning the tide on the divisive politics that have been in play for many years!&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The bottom line for most Americans is our faith and our family. Obama is the faith and family candidate. He hasn&amp;rsquo;t spent the last few decades enmeshed in politics and putting up a &#039;front&#039; of a happy family life. He has a &#039;real&#039; family and understands our issues. Not a trophy/political family&amp;hellip;and thank God his wife and children still love and respect him! &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes, there are other candidates with similar credentials&amp;hellip;but none of them embody ALL that Barack Obama has to offer.  And, then there is what&amp;rsquo;s commonly referred to as the &#039;it&#039; factor. Some call it charisma, some call it destiny, some call it luck. My personal opinion is that it is divinely inspired. But, whatever &#039;it&#039; is&amp;hellip;.Barack Obama has it.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;All Americans need to take an honest look at this guy and imagine the country with a President we can respect and admire. Imagine a President who unites us behind common goals! Imagine a President who brings out the best in America.  This is why Obama supporters keep believing.   &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We don&amp;rsquo;t care about what the other candidates are doing and saying because we know those are just actions to get elected.    We don&amp;rsquo;t care about polls or media, because we know they can be manipulated and don&amp;rsquo;t always reflect reality.   We don&amp;rsquo;t care about debates and forums because we know they are mostly carefully crafted sound-bites.  However, we do care about America. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We are not na&amp;iuml;ve, we are hopeful. We are not irresponsible, we are practical.   We support Barack Obama because he is the best candidate for president America has seen in a long time&amp;hellip;and, our future demands that we get it right this time!&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <description>Thousands of Americans showed up to see and hear Barack Obama in NYC. Official estimates are over 24,000 people! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;George Clooney says that Obama has &amp;quot;rock star&amp;quot; appeal...but, it is much more than that! He has the hope of generations of Americans (especially us boomers) who remember a time when people came together to end a war, enforce civil rights, and lead the world! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Boomers especially need to take a look at this guy because I think he has the best chance of solving our biggest issue -- healthcare! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yes...the other candidates are saying similar things...but they have been around so long....played the game so long....that they are tainted.             <description>Mandatory Healthcare - Guess Who Will Benefit?         &lt;p&gt;               At the center of candidate Clinton&#039;s plan is MANDATORY healthcare insurance. While we all know of the problems with our current system, MANDATORY healthcare will leave all Americans at the mercy of the insurance companies who will continue to raise rates. And...what will happen to those who for whatever reason don&#039;t purchase insurance? Will they be charged with a crime (like driving without a license.) So I guess the crime would be -- living without insurance.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And, will insurers be held to the same standards and NOT be able to kick people out of their plans? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Senator Clinton says this MANATORY insurance will be like what we currently have with auto insurance. Our rates go up after an accident so...will our rates go up after an illness?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We know who will benefit from Senator Clinton&#039;s plan and it&#039;s not us.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Barack Obama also recognizes the need to reform healthcare, however he DOES NOT CALL FOR MANDATORY INSURANCE.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>Some of My Best Friends Are Republican</title>
            <description>How did the country get so divided? Wasn&amp;rsquo;t there a time when we could agree to disagree?             <title>The Emergence of Barack Obama</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;Senator Obama was simply OUTSTANDING in today&amp;#39;s debate in Iowa. He was comfortable and confident. His charisma and class outshone everyone else on stage. Never before has the difference between Obama, and the &amp;#39;status-quo&amp;#39; candidates, been so apparent. He is the driving force and they are now revolving around him. This is leadership....and beyond his backgound and intellect...what he has is a &amp;#39;gift&amp;#39; from God that can not be emulated. HE IS A BORN LEADER....not a manufactured leader.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Clinton&amp;#39;s approach is that of a &amp;#39;fighter.&amp;#39; It is apparent she is relishing a fight with Rove, Bush, and the &amp;#39;Republican Attack Machine.&amp;#39; She is &amp;#39;bring-them-on&amp;#39; lite. It is understandable that she would be carrying a grudge after her years in Washington, and what she and her husband have gone through. (Bush also probably carried a grudge into the White House -- against Saddam)&amp;nbsp; The problem is...we are tired of fighting! Republican&amp;#39;s are not attack dogs, they are Americans. Obama understands this. He is not carrying baggage from the past that will keep him from building coalitions to solve American problems. Not only that, he understands the MORAL IMPERATIVE to unite Americans and not divide them.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Edwards has worthy goals...but, he is also an &amp;#39;us versus them&amp;#39; candidate. He is fighting for relevancy without the charisma and freshness of Obama. He is struggling to grab some headlines....the problem is, leaders don&amp;#39;t have to struggle. They make decisions (such as Obama&amp;#39;s recent decision to limit forum appearances) and others....including the media, follow.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes...Obama has emerged as the American leader...the front-runner in the 2008 campaign. The others can only follow.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>The Front-Runner</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;First of all, congratulations to Senator Obama for dominating the airwaves (and the Internet) the past couple of weeks with common-sense foreign policy initiatives. Whether pundits were complimentary or critical, they &amp;#39;spelled his name right&amp;#39; and his viewpoints were EVERYWHERE! Obama drove the discussion and everyone else followed. &lt;strong&gt;This is leadership.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Second, Obama is competing against the &amp;#39;Stepford Candidate&amp;#39; who is attempting to waltz her way into the presidency by not ruffling any feathers, and being &amp;#39;all things&amp;#39; to &amp;#39;all people.&amp;#39; They are using words like &amp;#39;flawless&amp;#39; to describe her campaign.&amp;nbsp; Who wants that?&amp;nbsp; I don&amp;#39;t know about you, but &amp;#39;flawless&amp;#39; people scare me--I don&amp;#39;t know where they &amp;#39;really&amp;#39; stand. Give me someone who&amp;#39;s not afraid to get knocked down and bruised. Give me someone who STANDS for what they believe in, regardless of the mud that is thrown their way. &lt;strong&gt;This is leadership.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Third, Obama is &amp;#39;telling it like it is&amp;#39; and not beating around the Bush with sound bites and carefully thought out commentaries. We need this! We respect this! This is the way to run a race.             <title>Pennies For Progress</title>
            <description>Hello Friends!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Glad you are part of Boomer Women For Obama!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have been thinking of possible events for our group. (I do realize we are national.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As a start I&amp;#39;ve come up with a &amp;#39;&lt;strong&gt;Pennies For Progress&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#39; fund raiser. The goal is to see how much we can raise by Oct. 30th.&amp;nbsp; Perhaps we can compete with other groups or locations.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will suggest to my friends and family members that they start collecting&amp;nbsp; and donating their loose change. Is Coinstar national?&amp;nbsp; Perhaps people could mail in their Coinstar receipts. (or just convert their change to bills and send in the equivalent amount)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will write a letter that you all can use if you want. Some of the things I will suggest:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;--giving up a latte or special coffee&lt;br /&gt;--emptying out pockets and purses of spare change&lt;br /&gt;--encouraging kids to contribute their change (I&amp;#39;m sure my son has $20 in quarters on the floor of his room)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You get the idea.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; I NEED YOUR INPUT! Do you think this is a good idea? Should we challenge the other groups we are in? (this might be good for the mom&amp;#39;s group????)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let me know what you think of &amp;#39;PENNIES FOR PROGRESS&amp;#39; and give me ideas on how to implement it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Linnie</description>

            <title>Polling, Politics, and Propaganda</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;What&amp;#39;s the deal with the polls?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I&amp;#39;ve been a registered voter for many years and NO ONE has ever contacted me. I know the online polls are easy to manipulate so I don&amp;#39;t take those seriously. But, what about the other polls? What is their &amp;#39;scientific&amp;#39; method?             <title>Go Big or Go Home!</title>
            <description>Yes!!!! It&amp;#39;s good to see Obama take the offensive against the Clinton campaign.             <description>The pollsters and pundits are scratching their heads. For decades THEY have &amp;lsquo;called the shots&amp;rsquo; on U.S. elections. THEY tell us who our leading candidates are, and who will win elections.             <title>&quot;It&#039;s the family...Smart People&quot;</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;I am pyched about THIS campaign&amp;#39;s ability to meet its goals and get so many people like me...people who have never felt involved with the political process in America....on board and spreading the word.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As a &amp;#39;soccer mom&amp;#39; I can say that Obama best embodies the values and policies that I deem important for myself, my husband, and my children.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have spoken with my church members, and even my Republican friends, and we all agree Obama best represents FAMILY VALUES.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Having a community focused on taking care of our children is important...but, the bottom line is...it doesn&amp;#39;t take a village...IT TAKES A PARENT!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Today, parents and families are under assault from policies (and a culture) that leave us with too many &amp;#39;things&amp;#39;, too much debt, and little time to raise our children properly and spend time with our spouses. And then there are the worries...how to pay the mortgage, rising heathcare costs, the media messages being forced on our kids, childcare and tuition costs, will we have enough for retirement, what will hapen to our parents and elderly loved ones, will our kids have to go to war...the list goes on.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;For this presidential election the theme is&amp;nbsp;not &amp;quot;It&amp;#39;s the economy, stupid.&amp;quot; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It is: &amp;quot;IT&amp;#39;S THE FAMILY, SMART PEOPLE!&amp;quot;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I pray the smart people of this campaign focus on this. Obama IS the FAMILY candidate. Thank God we have somebody who can represent us!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We are family!&amp;nbsp; (This should be our campaign song!)&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>Why Now?</title>
            <description>&lt;p&gt;Okay...so I&amp;#39;ve never gotten involved in anyone&amp;#39;s campaign before. Yes, I believe that one person can make a difference, and I do try to vote in every election (at least the important ones :) However, I never felt the need to extend myself on someone&amp;#39;s behalf in a campaign. I know LOT&amp;#39;S of people who feel this way....and perhaps that is why&amp;nbsp;we are not happy with the way the country is being led.&amp;nbsp; We are not picking our leaders and helping them get elected. Instead, we are just voting on the lesser of 2, 3, or 4 evils.&amp;nbsp; &amp;quot;You get what you pay for!&amp;quot;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This guy Obama is the real deal. I don&amp;#39;t need a poll, the media, or another politicain to tell me this. He offers hope, intelligence, and most importantly--common sense! He is someone I can respect, and this is more important to me than someone I seem to agree with in all areas.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As a working wife and mother, I don&amp;#39;t have a lot of time and I don&amp;#39;t have a lot of money...but I have a lot of friends and acquaintances who feel as I do. I&amp;#39;m going to call them out of their &amp;#39;comfort zones&amp;#39; and see what we can do to get this guy elected.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Stay tuned.....&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>
