"So What if Obama was Muslim" (Greatest American Part About Gen Powell's Endorsement)

Muslim Soldier’s grave at Arlington – this is the image cited by Gen Collin Powell in his endorsement of Obama and opposing bigotry in this election cycle and the attacks being made against Obama.

For me the most important part about Powell's endorsement is how he stood up for the muslims who are part of the diversity of America.

He points out that even after 911, young muslims have enlisted, served and even died for this country - the mother from New Jersey mourning her 20-year old son who joined after 911.

I am glad that Colin Powell directly addressed the use of religion and race to divide people.

If you review Gen Powell’s comments carefully, you will notice these three things:

(i) Muslims are Americans too and should not be hate-mongered because they have always bleed and died for this country

(ii) All parts of America are Patriotic so patriotism should not be used to divide this country

(iii) People in other countries are watching us and seeing how we use religion and race to discriminate against other Americans and this needs to STOP.

In a follow up interview with CNN Powell specifically cited Al-Jezeera carrying the negative campaigns of McSame and is using it to put American bigots to shame around the world.

He also commented on the McCarthyism comments made by the crazy congress woman from Minnesota

Obama/Schweitzer08 as the 2008 Democratic Party Dream Team

Hello Team Obama,

I know that most of us have our ideas of the Dem Dream Team and Schweitzer is my first choice for VP.

Governor Schweitzer of Montana should be considered as a good running mate for Barack Obama. It would indeed increase the chances of at least 16 years of Dems in the Presidency.

Many times I have listened to Governor Schweitzer being interviewed and I like him as a possible running mate for Barack.

He would also fit in with Turning-the-Page on the Old Washington Politics and provide a solid boost Western Strategy.

Schweitzer is independent soul, funny, from an ordinary working background and has emphasized energy independency as way to promote development. He also lives a life that is not too different from Barack and most ordinary folks.

He is a strong advocate for ordinary working people and working across party lines.

Schweitzer is also strong on agriculture, the issue of food self-sufficiency, and community development

Most important of all to me, like Obama, Gov. Schweitzer is a leader with a global perspective ingrained in his DNA. Schweitzer has lived abroad (Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and in the Middle East Saudi Arabia - personally I am biased to Africa here) for long periods and would therefore appreciate how the rest of the world lives. Imagine also a Vice President who speaks fluent Arabic in addition to other languages!

Please Team Obama, give some serious thought to Obama/Schweitzer 08

Ps. I am sure that the first VP choice (the 82 year-old Ms Weiss from NC would approve of Obama/Schweitzer 08) since he is actively concerned with environment, agriculture and water and these are some of the issues Ms Weiss was concerned about. Remember Ms Weis?

Official Changing of the Dem Leadership Guard - Obama is in Charge

I like this title from Crawford's artilce: "Senator Obama Has Replaced Clintons As Boss Of Party".

The day after, I really, really, realy ...(really to infinity) like the fact that Senator Obama is by all intent and purposes the head of all Dems.

By default, the argument should be that the People and not the Lobbyists are in charge of the Democratic Party!

What a classy and genuine, humble, and realistic individual Senator Obama is and will continue to be. What a priviledge to be lead by someone of immense talent and personal integrity.

I have no doubt that the Democratic Party will benefit from the leadership of Senator Obama (soon to be President Obama) since his central focus is inclusion, with the people as a focus.

Obama surely emphasizes the concept of Team Building from the ground up.

One thing that this primary has demonstrated is one candidate who focuses on I (me, my legacy, may ambition) and another who focuses on We (We The People).

Obama's campaign has been about Team Obama and I am glad to see that the Team won because the challenge of governing this nation (and the world) will be about the American Team and the Global Team putting together all their collective efforts.

The DNC through the RBC chose the future and People's Movement over the party's dynasty and by God I love the new dynamics.

Lets get to work to make the possibility a reality that the 44th POTUS will be President Barack Obama.

Baracking the Fox News Audience – A Review From A Certified and Eternal Obama Supporter of Senator Obama’s April 27, 2008 Appearance on Fox

My Facts: - I despise Fox, never watch it because of concerns about how it raises my blood pressure, makes my stomach acid bubble up, and come close to loosing my “elite” mind. - I was concerned about Barack’s appearance on Fox but then remembered that he has also said that he would talk to ALL people whether they agree with him or not) - I calmed down, remembered that the best person to reflect Barack’s honesty and personal integrity to potential voters is Barack - I decided to watch Fox with clenched teeth and a bottle of anti-acid. I am glad that Senator Obama appeared on Fox because:-(i) Now Barack can’t be criticized for not talking to the “half of the country that does not agree with him”; (ii) BO handled the interview with such class and grace that even the Fox pundits in panel that followed couldn’t hide they genuine respect for Obama (e.g. Brit Hume who looked almost envious of Wallace for landing this interview). (iii) Because Obama raised the quality of the discussion with Wallace, the moderator also responded with a higher level of discourse even when asking questions about irrelevant-gotcha-questions; (iv) Barack directly answered rumors that have been fed to Fox viewers without a filter; (v) A number of people watching Barack and his interaction with Wallace could help but recall Clinton losing it completely with the same moderator; (vi) Fox will monitor ratings of Barack’s interview. Money is the most important issue to FOX notably speaking to Obama with respect will help their bottom line; (vii) It is general election mode. BO drew more contrasts between himself and McCain, ignored the candidate-formerly-known-as-inevitable - , she has now been relegated to the place of irrelevancy were she belongs. When Obama talked about McCain, he seems to be more passionate about the differences between them; (viii) Subsequent panel discussion reflected what everyone knows (but won’t publicly acknowledge) that Obama won’t only be the nominee but will also be elected the as 44th President and that he would make America as a nation proud!!If you get a chance to, please watch the full interviewWhat do the rest of you think about this interview?

Evolving Clinton HRC Criteria for Winning the Dem Nomination

I feel obliged to comment on the evolving HRC Criteria for Winning the Dem Nomination

According to the latest line from HRC and her supporters becoming the Dem nominee now has to be the electoral college and popular vote

HRC's supporters continue to amaze me by how they keep grasping at different criteria for the nomination once they are loosing one argument.

Before Obama won the younger voters in huge numbers, the youth and 30's did not matter but now HRC is aggressively courting colleges and younger voters with a college tour

When HRC still hoped to win as the inevitable establishment candidate, all the primaries and caucuses mattered in all states. When HRC lost in some states, then of course caucuses and "small" "red" states do not matter!!!

When HRC did not need FL and MI to count, then these primaries did not matter but now that the C-Team needs the results in FL andd MI of course it is voter dis-enfrachisement.

HRC had the popular vote then this was the criteria, followed by superdelegates who had a right to be independent in their decision.
Recently, the trend of endorsements shows superdelegates lining up for Obama so now this criteria is no longer important

What else could the incredible minds of the HRC come up with now? The electoral college of course Of course now it must be time for the electoral college to count because we are already using the rules of the general election.

Amazing evolution of criteria and changing rules in the middle of the game.

Political Dynasties in the African American Community

I think the time has come for the electorate to rigorously discuss the issue of political dynasties. During the course of this campaign, I heard regular people who happen to have voted for Senator Obama asking their own elected officials for accountability of their support for the Clintons. People were rightfully asking their elected officials just whose voice where they using and whose interest were they representing if their endorsements differed very widely from that of their voters.

I suggest that one of the less-discussed issue is the role of political dynasties through which people form a network of families who make politics a family business and become so connected to fellow leaders that they loose sight of their local constituents. Sadly, voters keep electing members of these same families whether or not the candidate in question is truly qualified to lead. I refer to this as the case of the political-cereal-brand since the voters choose the same family name just because they are familiar with this brand name.
In the African American community, there is the same problem of leaders who have been in power for more than 30 years and sometimes appear to be protecting their own political careers rather than their constituents. With more than 80% of your constituent voting for Obama why else would a leader you are throwing your support behind Clinton?. Some of these same leaders have already started to prepare their offspring for the same seat they hold - talk about political dynasties

One reason why some of these leaders are terrified of a President Obama and the new generation of leaders who are supporting him is because there will be a changing of the guard so to speak and therefore a loss way-of-living for those who are not very well qualified.

Why Senator Obama Matters more to Democrats than Senator Clinton

Just how much loyalty can a political party owe one family (the Clintons Dynasty)? It is very clear that the Clintons are in power just for themselves and if you stand in their way, they will do everything they can to try and destroy you and everyone associated with - this C-family is the political hurricane bent on destroying everything in its path. Earlier on at the beginning of the campaign, one Georgia congressional Democrat said when endorsing Obama that he had been threatened by the Clinton people - the actual phrase he used was "The Arkansas Mafia". By the time he used such a term to the media, the tactics used against him to gain support must have been very rough or not pretty. I hope that Dems will understand that with Obama's support from a cross-section of new voters, the party is poised to expand its base significantly and grow it voter-rolls. Furthermore, because a large number of the Obama voters are young people, the party will be strong for a generation. These young people are from a diverse background and can influence many others in their communities. Obama has picked up very strong support in very many states around the country (and states Dems had forgotten) and has built a strong grassroots organization. This local network will help in building the 50-state strategy for the Dems, introduce a new generation of leaders in the community, and enable many other elected officials in wining their election from dog-catcher to state level, governorships, US Congress, to US Senate. Team Obama has also demonstrated the new way to raise money cheaply from more than two million small donors and this is the new financial reality. I hope the super-delegates are taking notice and are not continuing to be intimidated by old loyalties to one political dynasty. Obama is Democratic Party's Future.

Clintons and their Dead Silence As Congregation of Black Church was Being THrashed

The past few weeks in the news cycle have been very trying for many people and most are left in limbo about what comes next.

One of the things that has struck me is how silent both Senator and President Clinton have been.

Of course I did not expect them to come out in support of Barack or the Rev Wright. However, I expected one of them to at least come out and explain to some of the pundits that have never entered a Black church that the atmosphere of worship and social issues discussed my be different from what they are used to in their own community.

As long as I have know of them, the Clintons have always claimed that they are part of the black community and that are well versed in all things black.

I have therefore not faiiled to notice that they have remained largely silent during the past few days and have not at the very least come in defense of the congregation of the Black Church. This silence is despite the fact that they have been in attendance in a number of Black Churches and are well aware of how some preachers may go unconvetional when discussing some sensitive issues.

Members of the African American community fiercely defended the Clintons throughout their darkest days and the Black Congressional Caucus in particular even led the defense in the media during Clinton's impeachment.

Going foward, I hope members of the African American community remember that the Clintons have not stood up for the Black Church when the loyalty of its congregation has been treated as a cult (at least accoding to Fox News) or had its patriotism questioned.

I wonder how other African Americans feel when they see this "missing in action" at the crucial hour when it seemed that the full assault of the congregation was going on

Maybe I am picky by I know of one political leader who stood up and he was the conservative Gov Mike Huckabee from the other party.

Compare the silence of the Clitons with Governor Huckabee who said:
"[You] can't hold the candidate responsible for everything that people around him may say or do," Huckabee says.

I hope that when the dust settles, the actions of the two Arkansas governors during this time will be contrasted

Why Do Super-delegates Believe They Owe The Clintons More Than the Voters?

How did the Democratic Party find itself in a position in which election do-overs have to be conducted in order to accommodate the last stand for one candidate and against all previously-set party rules? Here is my suggestion of how the DNC got in this strange position: One candidate was part of the party machine when rules for voting, caucusing, delegates were being drawn up. In fact this candidate was the Democratic Party (reminded daily by the 35 years quote). This candidate secured the support of the party machine and ignored the fact that each of these party bosses has one vote and it is equal to that of the regular people. Furthermore, this candidate made minimum effort to recruit new voters to her campaign and relied on the old forms of venture capital (lobbyists). The biggest mistake of all was taking the nomination result as inevitable while ignoring the competition. A puzzle is that this candidate is now trying to change or complain about the rules in the middle of the game although they were agreeable when no competition was expected. Another candidate was not a party insider and recognized clearly the up-hill battle he would have to face in challenging the establishment. Rather, before declaring his candidacy, this "naive" potential candidate studied the rules, drew up a business plan explaining exactly how and why he would win state by state without counting in the support to the party machine. This candidate presented this formal campaign strategy to his wife who gave the blessing. From day one, this candidate sought new kinds of investment to fund his campaign and also mobilized the grassroots to form the backbone of the campaign and recruit new voters. Financing for the venture relied on a diverse coalition of a multitude of small investors so spreading the financial risk around the campaign journey. This candidate then got a message around which people mobilized and took ownership of the campaign because they realized they had a stake in a potential win and that their activism could make a difference in the election results. The above is the reasons is why we find one candidate putting fellow Democratic Party members in a situation in which they may have to go against the will of their own people and thereby risking their own political careers. Question: Why do the super-delegates believe that they owe one family so much that they can even risk the perception that they would be willing to over-turn the will of the people and damage the party for a generation?

Rev. Wright and my unwavering support for Senator Obama

I can see the media bent on cannibalizing Senator Obama based on the comments of Rev Wright. If I were to communicate with the Senator Barack, this is what I would say:

Senator Obama, By undertaking this journey for the presidency, you have carried the dreams and hopes of a race, a generation and those of most marginalized everywhere. You and Michele have led this movement of hope and call for change with much dignity and class and yes we ordinary people are very proud of you. God, you Senator Obama and Michelle have done us really proud as you navigated the huddles that have been thrown your way by those who are trying to hold onto power!! Please know that when the history of this nation is written, your name Barack Obama will be among those that will be written in bold and will endure for a very long time. Some of us who understand the courage that you used to confront the status quo are left in wonder as to how you found the strength to remain so dignified and steady. I am one of those that have been derived as a member of the "Obama cult" since I petitioned you to consider running and have done all I can to volunteer, contribute money, spread your message of change and promote your candidacy in each and every venue to recruit new supporters. I understood that the challenge you pose to the status quo and the conventional institutions would meet with a huge push back. The events of the past few days have proved my point and I am ready for more garbage to be thrown your way. It is very clear that while some people have always appeared sympathetic to the plight of non-Caucasians in this country, it is a totally different matter when their own power is challenged and this is a sad thing to watch as they will stoop so low. I also understand that each person is judged by their actions and words and not by the events of others who may support your candidacy. I hope that the people with microphones and power do not expect you to apologize for everything that any black person and black preacher has said and done - it may take a life time. I have no doubt that as a catholic, no one would expect me to apologize for the actions and sermons of my priest and my religion. In response to these events that are attempting to malign and destroy you, I have decided to donate more money and even take an extended trip to PA to volunteer. I am more determined to follow your leadership on this journey. The media garbage is acting like a fuel for me to work harder. One thing I know for sure is that in January 2009, USA will have a new president and his name will be President Barack Obama. Yes we Can!!!

My Thoughts on Mr. Keith Olbermann's Commentary on MSNBC and The Future of the DNC

At this point in this race for the democratic party nominee, I believe that the Clinton Campaign's strategy to win-at-all-costs will in then end make it very hard for a Democrat towin the Presidency.

I must say that the Special Commentary that I heard from Keith Olbermann's programme from the Count Down with Keith Obama on MSNBC tonight has expressed some of my fears and concerns on the going-ons and it is about time some one said it.

Thanks Keith Olbermann for the great commentary that expresseses the frustration of so many of us who badly want a democrat to win in Nov.

Clearly, the Clinton Campaign needed to be publicly called out for the way it has focused on actively dividing the different interest groups and supporters of the Democratic Party in order to win.

There is a pattern of divide-and-rule and also racial baiting here that cannot be overlooked.

These are some of the examples of the offensive events/actions/statements by the Clinton Campaign that stand out in my mind that should be unacceptable to any well-meaning person:

(a)  thrashing the youth vote in Iowa as just a "face-book" generation that will not vote and then further attempting to block the partcipation of out-of-state students;

(b) making a union file a law suit against another union in Nevada  against rules that were approved by the party;

(c) racial baiting in South Carolina and disrespecting Senator Obama's candidacy as a "fairy-tale" and his words as empty;

(d) choosing to undermine the Democratic Party rules in Michigan by retaining her name on the ballot and attempting to change the rules in Florida;

(e) insulting voters in the states that Obama won as "little-state" and caucus states whose votes are less important than "big states" ;

(f) trashing Obama-voters as dellusional and needing a "reality-check" and as "lattee-sipping, Pryus-driving, rich people who do not need a president.

(g) encouraging Republicans to vote for her in Texas and Ohio just for the purpose of gaming the system against Obama's potential win in open primaries

(h) encouraging the emphasis of deeper divisions between Blacks and Hispanics who are in fact needed for any Democrat to win the race

(i) giving a wink and a nod to supporters who trash Obama and at the same time praising Mcain who is the party's competition.

At the end of this primary, I wonder how many Obama supporters would really show up to vote for her if she were to convince the Superdelegates to give he the nomination.

The Clintons should know when the time has come for them to exit the leadership of the Democratic Party with some level of dignity and good will. The writing is on the wall that in January 2009, America will have a new president and that his name is President Barack Obama.

Ps. For those who may not have listened to the commentary, check out MSNBC or Huffington Post for the video

I also encourage people to send an email in support of Olbermann because we know that the Clinton-Attack-Machine will be doing a number on him for this commentary calling them out on these devisive campaign tactics

Obama wins the Obama Vs Clinton Novak Smack-down series

In this round on the Obama-Clinton smack-down series this Democrat is putting this round down as a brilliant win for Senator Obama. The Clinton Campaign thought that it could silence Senator Obama because he is a nice guy and by his own admission: “he doesn’t do nasty”. The trick was to give an innuendo and smear whispered by Novak who most Democrats distrust due to Plame-gate. The Clintons then hoped to turn around and deny it while at the same time hitting back at Obama and highlighting Novak’s perceived lack credibility. Clintons did not count on the possibility that Obama would address them directly to answer a “yes or no” and either put up or shut up. With his winning smile Obama has been warning Democrats, Republicans and others that he will address any attempts to smear him swiftly and decisively. I personally believe what he says despite the smile because I can see it in the intensity of his eyes as he puts out this warning to potential swift-boaters. People seem to forget that Obama comes from the political landscape that is Chicago and that he is used to mean politicians. During the primary race for the US Senate, Obama faced a lot off opposition from a very rich opponent and another from a well-connected political family and we all know who came out ahead. The Chicago Democratic Party machine publicly opposed Obama in the primary but he danced around and won the nomination. Obama has been opposed and tested by dirty politicians and he came out ahead Unlike the Dynasty politicians like Hillary, Obama did not get where he is because of nepotism – he has earned his success. Obama has faced direct and indirect institutional and personal challenges of discrimiation and has succeeded. I will quote what Obama said on Jay Leno, which is that “in a fight between Clinton and Michelle, he will put his money on his girl”. I will put my money on Obama because he is using a new political textbook for his campaign and the tactics of Clintons look like relics. If Obama used Washington textbook Hillary would win but Obama is inventing his own which will be used by other future campaigns Remember when Bill Clinton publicly said that Obama was not experienced? Obama responded by directly reading Bill’s 1992 speech about Clinton’s own struggle to deal with the inexperience question. Did you ever see Bill say that inexperience crap personally again? I await a President Obama because he will not initiate an attack but he is ready to give as good a smack-down as the opponents attempt to put on him. The round also sets out a warning to other campaign to be careful when they choose to rumble with Obama. One of Obama offices has a prominent picture of Mohammed Ali in the boxing ring looking down on his opponent. Obama also loves to play poker in his down-time and people who have played with him say he always intensely focuses on wining. May be these two should provide an insight as to how Obama would respond in a fight. I am waiting for the next round on the Obama-Clinton smack-down series and you know whose side I will take

Why are some prominent leaders of in the African American Community Ignoring the Promise of a President Obama?

I am a black woman and I must say that I am very angry at the so called "black leaders" who are openly undermining Senator Obama's candidacy.

Senator Barack Obama is qualified and has dedicated his professional life serving the needy in the community although he could have chosen to do something else in the cooperate world. The professional choices Senator Obama has made along each stage of his life demonstrate that though his actions, he knows that he stands on the shoulders of giants and that he has to give back to those who are less fortunate. Senator Obama has ignited the aspirations of very many young people in America and abroad. On the continent of Africa a majority of young and old people know his name and recite it with pride and great longing for a transformation in the circumstances of their lives. A number of these leaders have personally so much for the advancement of the community to and have always hoped for this moment in the time of this nation when as a community we stand on another brink of leading not only America but the world. I am grateful for the contribution of these leaders to getting the community to make progress on this journey What has been perplexing to me is why these “leaders” are actively trying to stand in the path of advancement and reject this current chance to make a permanent change to the leadership structure of this nation. Maybe we need to document for history a define record of each of these leaders’ decision and also use this to understand their arguments better.

Let me give you my take on the apparent contradiction of these political and civil rights leaders.
I believe that a few of these "leaders" are jealous of Obama’s rapid raise to national prominence.

Others have made their careers by perpetuating the original sin of this nation (racial discrimination) and think that they would loose this important issue that they need to prop up their careers.

I suspect that these so-called 'leaders' are putting their personal benefits from receiving Clinton perks well above the potential benefit of the community and the constituents that they claim to represent.

Some of these 'leaders' personally owe too much to the Clintons for putting them in office and they have chosen to continue to be career politicians. If you notice, the most vocal AA Clinton supporters are those who are themselves either second-generation (dynasty) or multiple-term politicians.

A report just released this week shows how badly people of color are doing in terms of economics. It emphasizes that the critical demographic is the young men. Barack's candidacy is timely because it would motivate young people to dream big and focus more on education because they would see themselves in the story of his life.

The Establishment Candidate’s family already had a chance to fundamentally positively impact the AA community but their effect was minimal at best. Can’t these “leaders” see that instead of settling for crumbs, they have a chance not only to influence the ingredients constituting the “socio-economic and political cake” and also when and how this “socio-economic and political cake” will be baked.

In my view, choosing personal political advancement instead of the potential to impact the community means that you are selling out your constituents.

History will record what the good text has said which is that “a ‘prophet’ (change agent) is rarely accepted in his/her own home”. I am glad I am on the ‘prophet’s’ side and will proudly continue to support Senator Obama in this incredible journey. Does anyone else feel this sense of outrage?

However, please provide some input this question:

Based on the campaign so far, does the Establishment Candidate really have the interest of the Party that is going out of its way to promote her candidacy?

To me the political machine that is promoting the “front –runner” is being duped into the long-term weakening of the party both on the fundamental positions it upholds and also on the size of its base.

I agree with the people who have totally lost their willingness to vote for the Establishment Candidate even if that is the only name on the ballot.

Initially, I disagreed with the policy positions of the Establishment Candidate but at least I respected her.

However, during the course of this campaign, I have learned better what each candidate is made of at the core and I do not like what I see.

My respect for Her Royal Highness Queen Inevitable is totally gone due to her double- talk as to the following issues:

(a)    Breaking the "glass ceiling" even as she hides behind the husbands' professional  achievement;

(b)   Manipulation of people by claiming to be a victim of her gender even as her policy positions     victimize the people whose support she seeks;

(c) A campaign that swift-boats other candidates even as they claim mud-slinging when

       people challenge her  purely on policy differences;

(d)Claiming to unite the Democratic Party and the nation although most of her speeches

and campaign activities are designed to keep the nation divided. Any person hoping to unite their party would know that it is not in the party’s best interest to boo other candidates during a debate officially sanctioned by the same party and that it is very rude to solicit birthday contributions from people who are volunteering for and supporting your competition.

(d) Claiming to represent the poor and middle classes even as you aggressively seek financial

contributions from the very lobbyist who oppress them.

A party leader would know that if your candidacy has the highest potential to result in a razor-thin win or loss for the other s facing re-election, then you would not force nomination at all costs.

To me the Establishment Candidate cares more about personal power and fortunes than the future of the party /nation.

Election day reminder - Coleman an Obama Supporter

Hello Fellow Buckeyes,On this election day please remember to cast your vote. Among the local leaders who showed support for Senator Obama is Mayor Michael Coleman. There are also other local leader who support Obama fully. We all know that a few people in the democratic party establishment have been strong-armed to fall in line and support Hillary's candidacy. I humbly suggest that when each one of us goes into the booth today, we remember which leaders have supported Senator Obama. Once these leaders are re-elected, they can be in a better position to provide resources, and grassroots network to enhance the Candidacy of Senator Obama. Please take a few moments to vote.

Why I Feel Proud to Support and Volunteer for Senator Obama:

I am proud supporter of the Transformative Candidate Senator Barack Obama because of his is unique from the other democratic candidates. I believe that the world needs President Obama to lead at this critical time. As an immigrant from East Africa now living in Ohio, I have find it hard to understand why some people do not see how critical it is to have capable, honest, qualified, intelligent, cosmopolitan Obama as the president. The professional journey Senator Obama has taken in service to the poor communities in the South-side of Chicago, constitutional law professor, state level and federal level provide a clear insight into the essence of the man at the core of his being.
  Specifically, these are the reasons why I support senator Obama: IRAQ WAR STANCE: I support Senator Obama primarily because he was correct on the Iraq war and spoke out when it was not popular to do so – this is political courage that I admire. Obama’s stand on the Iraq war has always been correct, consistent and courageous from the start. Although I am very far removed from the armed forces, their families and the people of Iraq, this Iraq war has been very agonizing to live through. It is simply too much sorrow, destruction and pain in the families of the service men and women and in the Iraq population. The global hostility that has been fueled by the Iraq war are so huge and will have negative long-term consequences. A question that comes to mind is this: what if the US had invested all the monetary cost of this war into alternative sources of energy instead or seeking to occupy an oil- rich nation that did not attack the US? He OPEN GOVERNMENT IN THE US AND ABROAD: Promise for open dialogue at with all people home in the US (irrespective of political affiliation) and with foreign leaders who may not agree with Senator Obama’s views is a very admirable quality that will respect other opinions and encourage diversity of points of view. He is advocating for transparency in government and re-inviting all people to participate in their democracy in addition to discouraging the domination of politics by special interest and lobbyist. THE GLOBAL PROMISE OF PRESIDENT OBAMA AND GENERATIONAL IMPACT: Senator Obama's candidacy has a Global Promise for socio-economic advancement and peace. His practical experience, living in an ethnically and religiously diverse world and in developing countries, gives him an insight into global communities that other candidates cannot claim. When I speak to people in other parts of the world, they understand that Senator Obama will be an investment to global peace and development in much the same way as Peace Corp Volunteers and Development Aid – President Obama’s impact will be multiplicative and long term particular in the socio-economically marginalized communities. Senator Obama's candidacy has a Global Promise! THE GLOBAL PROMISE of Obama to generations of young people in developing countries is very clear to me. Imagine the potential transformation for USA's image if the reception he received during his recent visit to Africa is replicated globally! Anyone taking time to review the documentation of Obama’s 2006 trip (on Youtube and Oprah's website) can dare to imagine a jubilant Generation Obama all around the world! Yes, on that January day in 2009 when President Obama is sworn in, a new page will be turned in America and abroad and young people every where will dare to dream big. President Obama will have a Generational Impact at home and abroad. The potential that Senator Obama holds to re-invigorate young people in the US who are the future of this nation is immense. President Obama is consequential to the socio-economically marginalized. An intangible contribution his honest participation and ultimate win holds particularly for racial and socio-economic minorities in the marginalized communities cannot be underestimated. I believe very strongly that like the socio-justice giants on whose shoulders Mr. Obama stands (such as MLK, Mandela, RFK, JFK, civil rights leaders) and others like Jesse Owens to mention but a few, a win would enable to significant number of people to not only walk taller but also re-examine the lives’ plans and commit to improve. They would have another great example to aspire to and emulate. DOMESTIC POLICIES: Senator Obama Policy stands on major domestic issues are correct. Some of these include:

Criminal Justice: Senator Obama’s contribution to streamlining the criminal justice system and procedures in Illinois;

Civil and Voting rights: Senator Obama has contributed to promoting and protecting the civil and voting rights of the ordinary people;

Affordable health care for all and streamlining the process to reduce cost, remove biases  and increase;

Education:  re-investing in education for all students no matter their socio-economic background, support for teachers and encouraging in-put from parents will improve the level of preparedness of this nation for innovation and hence economic growth;

Environmental policy: focusing on conservation and investment in renewable fuels will contribute to oil-independence;

  COMMUNICATION TALENTS AND CONNECTING TO THE COMMON MAN: His eloquence is a now widely accepted as a given. However, in addition to this oratory, I admire his intensity as he listens to people. I have carefully watched the attention he pays to all who address him and one cannot doubt that he is fully listening to what they have to say. Senator Obama is a fantastic listener and I believe this talent would serve him well as he weighs all options on any issue since he listening ability will enable his to pay attention to the concerns and suggestions of others. His life’s journey is not much different from the journey that has been taken by many people around the world COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION: the essence of the human being behind the candidate is reflected in the professional choices he made at the time when he really needed resources was to live and work in the poverty trenches. As far as I am concerned, this choice to become a community organizer clarifies for me who he is at the core. He doe not pander to the audiences by telling them what they want to hear. He challenges those whom he comes into contact with to be generous of spirit and the best person they can be to each other by reminding us that each of us is “our brother’s keeper, our sister’s keeper” FAMILY PORTRAIT: I greatly respect and admire Senator Obama and his wife Michelle. She is humble, well-grounded, extremely intelligent, beautiful, hardworking, and overall well balanced. Mrs. Michelle Obama is a true gem!! Clearly a man who is able to recognize admire and yet not be challenged by talents of this well-rounded, gifted, intelligent and eloquent woman is a man who has excellent taste. Mrs. Obama, is a shinning asset for the community, and should keep on with her contribution to the campaign and the community PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Senator Obama is smart, honest, decent man with an admirable measure of humility. He is comfortable with the circumstances of his background and he is very intelligent. These are excellent qualities that will serve him well as he leads this nation and the world. I am very proud of Senator Obama as a candidate and wear his campaign logo and gear very unashamedly. Given the above unique reasons and his policy positions, I hope and pray that when the tallies are made, Senator Obama is nominated as THE CANDIDATE for the Democratic Party. If he is nominated, I have no doubt in my mind that he will win in a landslide and will be a fantastic president The principal challenge to the American people is this: Americans, do you have the courage to elect Senator Barack Obama who is clearly the transformative candidate? Are you ready to go with him in this journey? I am and as I am concerned, the commitment is 100% - no doubt whatsoever!!! To ensure a win for Senator Obama, I am prepared to do all I can in my little world to make this happen. I am ready to continue doing the following things to support Senator Obama’s candidacy

Learn all I can about his stand on various issues and call to change that I refer to as the “transformative gospel;

Volunteer my time for all promotional events and outreach activities;

Preach the “transformative gospel” of his ideas to anyone I come across;

Recruit as many family, friends and strangers as committed supporters;

Contribute all resources that I can muster;

Respond to unfair criticism in the media;

Participate in any polls of consequence;

Anything legal and has positive effect on his campaign and candidacy

No matter the outcome (I believe it will be President Barack Obama), I will be able to say that I have contributed to fighting the good fight and that the hopes for tomorrow have completed the nomination race proudly. I am sure the win is just a few state elections away and victory will be his.

THE WORLD NEEDS PRESIDENT OBAMA

As an immigrant from East Africa now living in Ohio, I have find it hard to understand why some people do not see how critical it is to have capable, honest, qualified, intelligent, cosmopolitan Obama as the president.. The professional journey Senator Obama has taken in service to the poor communities in the South-side of Chicago, constitutional law professor, state level and federal level. His practical experience living in an ethnically and religiously diverse world and in developing countries gives him an insight into global communities that other candidates cannot claim.

When I speak to people in other parts of the world, they understand that Senator Obama will be an investment to global peace and development in much the same way as Peace Corp Volunteers and Development Aid - His impact will be multiplicative•

Obama's candidacy has a Global Promise. THE GLOBAL PROMISE of Obama to generations of young people in developing countries is very clear to me. Imagine the potential transformation for USA's image if the reception he received during his recent visit to Africa is replicated globally! Please review the documentation of this trip (on Youtube and Oprah's website) and dare to imagine a jubilant Generation Obama! Yes, on that January day in 2009 when President Obama is sworn in, a new page will be turned in America and abroad and young people every where will dare to dream big. President Obama will have a Generational Impact. Obama stands (such as MLK, Mandela, RFK, JFK, civil rights leaders ) and others like Jesse Owens to mention but a few, a win would enable to significant number of people to not only walk taller but also re-examine the lives’ plans and commit to improve. They would have another great example to aspire to and emulate.

Return the love and Appreciation for Endorsements

Thanks for all you hard work. Here is my suggestion for showing our appreciation and love to those leaders at the federal, state and local level for their endorsement of Senator Obama for president – democrats, independents and republicans. Would it be a good idea at this time in the campaign to show some appreciation to members of congress and senate who have come out and clearly endorsed Senator of Obama? Our support could be either by phone, email, or small contribution to their own campaigns and could clearly state that it is gratitude for their choice to become part of the Obama campaign. May be the website managers can add the link of endorsements to this site. Reports indicate that most democratic members of the Senate or Congress are either too afraid to support Senator Obama because of retaliation from the Clinton campaign or do not want to rock the boat by not supporting the establishment candidate. Below are some of the people who have endorsed Senator Obama. Please show your appreciation to these people Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.)
Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii)
Rep. Melissa Bean (D-Ill.)
Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-Ga.)
Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.)
Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.)
Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.)
Rep. Jim Cooper (D-Tenn.)
Rep. Jerry Costello (D-Ill.)
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.)
Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.)
Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.)
Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.)
Del. Eni Faleomavaega (D-A.S.)
Rep. Al Green (D-Texas)
Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.)
Rep. Phil Hare (D-Ill.)
Rep. Paul Hodes (D-N.H.)
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.)
Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.)
Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.)
Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Pa.)
Rep. Steve Rothman (D-N.J.)
Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.)
Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.)
Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.)
Rep.
Are polls being manipulated - Challenge to the Truth Squad

Truth-Squad CHALLENGE: Is there any truth to the claim that SOME POLLS being manipulated to make Hilary the obvious candidate? Can some one please research the claim that Mr. Mark Penn who is a key adviser to Mrs. Hilary Clinton’s campaign is also a partner in a major polling firm (Burson-Marsteller) that is giving the information to the public that Hilary holds this double-digit lead? If this claim is true, what is the implication for skewing the current polling data? How does the media MSM explain this potential conflict of interest or are they compliant or being manipulated when they quote these polls? Is the general public being played once again by the politicians and the media? ABC and MSNBC is it true that this firm is your source? I guess that this is a challenger for all us political junkies to determine if there is any truth in this speculation and how best it can be exposed to the rest of the nation?

The Global Promise of President Barack Obama:

The Global Promise of President Barack Obama: Does America have the courage to elect Obama - the transformative candidate?

I am proud supporter of Senator Barack Obama because of following reasons that make him unique from the other democratic candidates namely:

·         Clear Iraq War Stance: the stand on the Iraq war has been consistent and courageous from the start. Although I am very far removed from the armed forces, their families and the people of Iraq, this Iraq war has been very agonizing to live through. It is simply too much sorrow, destruction and pain. A question that comes to mind is this: what if the US had invested all the monetary cost of this war into alternative sources of energy? ;

·         Generational Impact: the potential he holds to re-invigorate  young people in the US who are the future of this nation;

· Consequential to the socio-economically marginalized: an intangible contribution his honest participation and ultimate win holds particularly for racial and socio-economic minorities in the marginalized communities cannot be underestimated. However, in addition to this oratory, I admire his intensity as he listens to people – please carefully watch the attention he pays to all who address him. Senator Obama is a fantastic listener and I believe this talent would serve him well as he weighs all options on any issue.

·          Personal characteristics: Smart, honest, decent man with an admirable measure of humility. Mrs. Obama, you are a shinning asset for the community, please keep on with your contribution;

·         Pride factor:  I am very proud of  Mr. Obama as a candidate and wear his campaign  logo and gear very unashamedly;

Given the above unique reasons and his policy positions, I hope and pray that when the tallies are made, Senator Obama is nominated as THE CANDIDATE for the Democratic Party. If he is nominated, I have no doubt in my mind that he will win in a landslide and will be a fantastic president.

The principal challenge to the American people is this: Americans, do you have the courage to elect Senator Barack Obama who is clearly the transformative candidate?
