Singable songs

I'm looking for singable songs that can be used while we're walking in DC for the Walk for Change (see diversity4obama.org ). I know there's been a lot of songs written about Obama and for the Obama campaign, but most seem heavy in instrumentation and not especially easy for a large crowd who are walking together. Songs like the past protest songs feel right, but most don't have the words to express what we're trying to express here. I may use some of them any way, but I'm looking for suggestions. And please spread the word both about the need for songs & about the Walk4Change in DC on Sept. 13. Thanks!

Do you wish you could do more, like me? I've been trying to spread the word via the
internet. I was sent a great video and an article about it, so I wrote about it in my blog as
if it wasn't about Obama, because the people in states who haven't voted yet,
many are undecided, so I entitled it by part of the title of the video "Obama
vs. Clinton" and maybe more of those undecideds will look at it. In my previous
post about the campaign, an undecided from NC replied (I'm assuming others read
& didn't reply).

So they are out there searching. If you have a blog other than on Obama's site
and, especially if you don't have the time to go to other states, special events, or
meetings, you might want to post something like this in your blog (feel free to copy):

I had a civic-related meeting at my house last night & two undecideds picked up Barack Obama magnets that I was giving away. I've also ordered a yard sign.

My health and busy life doesn't allow me to attend other Obama events or make phone calls, but go to the Events link and help out if you can or find other ways to help. Of course, he also needs funds, too.

Yepsen: Obama's Superb Speech Could Catapult His Bid from ABC News. "His oratory was moving, and he successfully contrasted himself with the others — especially Clinton — without being snide or nasty about it.

"That was an important thing for him to do. Historically, the Iowa party's "JJ" dinner is a landmark event in Democratic presidential caucus campaigns. All the key party activists, donors and players are present. This year, about 9,000 of them showed up."

I hope it's true. I don't understand this level of politics, but I think Obama really has what it takes. He's been walking the talk by not taking funds from PACs or lobbyists and turning those funds and funds that were raised inappropriately back. If he doesn't make it, I would suspect political favors by Clinton and money as being the reasons (since she takes funds from PACs and lobbyists and also engages in deceptive fundraising). Wouldn't it be marvelous if we could change the way politics is done in this country?!

I saw a lot of people reach to shake Barack's hand, but to me hand-shaking is a little over-rated, having had that experience. To me, the honor to volunteer to help with the campaign is much more rewarding (I was an "usher" giving instructions to people approaching the metal detectors). I do, however, appreciate those VIPs who paid $1,000 or more for a ticket and got to see him in a private reception, maybe talking to him one-on-one. The campaign could use that money, too, since, unfortunately U.S. campaigns are more about who can raise money than who has the best ideas and skills to improve our country.

"Pee Gee"?! I thought the major benefit of acronyms was that they were just the initials. The county government tried to get rid of that terminology because they thought it was disrespectful. I seem to hear it all the time now, especially from younger people. Oh, well... here's more:

Why I support Barack Obama: Sensible plan to pull out of war. Not accepting lobbiest funds. Has the qualities of a winner & president we can be proud of. Promotes open government. Good education, energy, and family & communities policies. Supports election reform. Pro-faith & "universal language" to keep specific religion out of government. We need a president who is really for the people - not just his buddies or his kind, but all the people. Obama has the qualities to be that president.
