Can he get the job done??????

As we approach the big Convention in Denver, I find myself, for the very first time, actually coming to terms with the fact that Senator Obama may, indeed, lose this election. I find that I am actually getting sick to my stomach with the idea that Barack may have "blown it". Just can't believe that he allowed himself to be drawn into that fiasco of a "debate" with John McCain hosted by Rick Warren. That has really gotten me wondering just what he will do when he and McCain actually do meet for their three debates that are scheduled.

I do question whether Barack can go toe to toe with McCain. While it is OK with me that he takes forever to explain himself, because I like the way he examines an issue, it is obvious that the method used by McCain is what appeals to the average voter. The drop in the polls tells us that.

I am puzzled by the drop in the polls, and hope that the Convention will bring about a turn-around. Although, the thing that I am placing my hope on now is the VP choice. I have come to the conclusion that the only choice left to give Barack's campaign a lift is Joe Biden. As much as I hate to admit it, Barack NEEDS Joe Biden. I truly never wanted it to come to that. While I have favored Biden, I never really thought he would become so important. But now I do!!!!

I have always thought that Barack Obama had what it took without that much help from anyone else. I suppose he did appear to be a sort of Superman in my eyes. Well, it's time to come back to earth and accept the fact that HELP is needed. Obama just simply has underperformed and we need to really push, but he needs to help himself as well, and get a running mate who can fill in where he is lacking. I think Joe Biden can do that.

I wouldn't mind if I had to eat my words. I would love it if I was totally wrong. We'll see....

I watched Meet The Press this morning and, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. I know that Tim will be missed and cannot be replaced, but certainly there is someone who could do better. I never realized, until now, what it means to be truly objective and fair. Those two statements, "objective and fair", describe the way Tim operated as the Moderator of Meet The Press, but have gotten lost with Tom Brokaw as the Moderator.

Certainly Chris Matthews, Chucky T. or Keith O. (all of MSNBC) would have been a better choice. This is my second time watching the show without Tim, and am awfully afraid it may be my last. I almost changed channels the second time Tom interrupted John Kerry (especially after he let Joe Leiberman go on and on and on and on....) Perhaps Tom should join the crowd at Fox News.

I would suggest Andrea Mitchel to be Moderator, but don't think she is strong enough. But anybody would be better than Tom Brokaw...........

Follow-up Vice President

Guess what? I have had another "change of heart". Just can't believe how easily I can be persuaded to another viewpoint when confronted with some "common sense" talk. Thank you. It just goes to show that I do not feel strongly about the Vice President position. I am only interested in getting the person who will do the most good for Barack.

Also, I truly had forgotten just how negative Hillary had been when comparing Barack to McCain. (just watched some YouTube videos and was reminded) I'm sure that she didn't mean all that she said, but the problem is, because of those statements, there are voters out there who will have a hard time believing tht she NOW thinks Barack is a qualified candidate. That is what happens when a candidate attacks another candidate at the personal level. There was far too much of that during the Primary.

Consider the personal attacks McCain is leveling at Obama. They are nasty and untrue and create hard feelings that will be hard to discard when this is all over. Shame on McCain.

So, I'm back with my original pick, Joe Biden.

Hi Everyone,

Well, we've come a long way, but there is still a way to go. As I look back and "review" all of the ups and downs over the last year, I can't help but laugh at some of my opinions at various times. Just can't believe how strongly I felt about certain things. One of the issues that caused me to lose sleep was my attitude about Hillary Clinton. I think her absence has allowed me to mellow and look at things a little more objectively. I like to think that anyhow. I will admit one thing though. She was right about the Republican's attack machine. They are getting quite nasty. More so than Hillary.

Now, as we approach the time when Barack will be choosing his VP, I am wondering just who would be the most help to him. The last time I gave it that much thought, Joe Biden was top on my list. But, now, since Barack has demonstrated just how capable he is in dealing with leaders of other countries, I don't believe he is in need of anyone to help him look "strong or more capable" in that area. I do believe he can handle Foreign Affairs discussions with other leaders quite well on his own. So, should he not choose Joe Biden as his VP, he still would make a great Sec. Of State. So, he (Joe) would still be a player in Barack's administration and be there for counsel, etc.

To cut to the chase, I have now concluded I could live with a Hillary Clinton on the ticket. In fact, I'm not too sure but what it would be a good thing. She is a fighter, and frankly, as an "attack dog" for Obama, she would definitely fill the bill. Don't know under what conditions Obama and/or Hillary could work together, but I do believe they would be an unbeatable ticket........

We had our Platform Meeting Sunday and it was a rousing success. The very issues that you have been concerned about were discussed and it was apparent that had you been there you would have "fit right in" and been right at home.

I certainly can respect Senator Clinton for her dedication and hard work during the Primary, and now I believe she sincerely wishes to finish her job by seeing a Democratic President in the White House. You will fulfil her wishes and complete her job by honoring her wishes to support Senator Barack Obama.

I am receiving e-mails from a couple of groups who have nothing to say about our Candidate except negative remarks. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU !!!
I just can't believe that you are caving into the McCain supporters' propaganda. SHAME ON YOU!! What happened to the "Yes we Can" attitude and positive reinforcement we are supposed to be sending to the Hillary supporters? SHAME ON YOU? How are you going to feel in November when John McCain walks away with the keys to the White House? SHAME ON YOU!! What will you do when we are facing another 4 (0r 8) years of George Bush policies? SHAME ON YOU!!!

I promise all of you, if Senator Obama loses the presidency because of your "turncoat" attitude, you will hear my voice in your sleep. SHAME ON YOU!!!

Well, it happened again! Where do I begin? I watched the whole hour of Meet The Press and probably cried for one half hour of it, especially the last fifteen minutes.

That song by Israel is implanted in my brain with Tim Russert's face and the background of a double rainbow. I will never be able to separate the three whenever I hear "Over The Rainbow". It will be a constant reminder that there are "good, kind, intelligent, caring, and loving individuals out there that God has made, and it is up to us to seek them out and appreciate them for who they are. For if we don't, then we may have missed a wonderful opportunity to know the joy and feel the presence of what scriptures speak of when they say,"By their fruits you will know them". Tim Russert was such a person.

That said, I must move on and comment on the show as a whole. If not, I'll just blubber on and not accomplish a thing today. As for the show, I thought Brian Williams did an admirable job...I give him a high mark. I know it was tough for him, but he is a professional.

As for the "discussion" between Joe Biden and "the other guy", I give Joe a big fat A+. In fact I have now changed my mind, again, and think Joe Biden would be a great VP. I started out with Bill Richardson, then switched to Nuhn, now I'm with Biden. One thing I am sure of, picking a Vice President is a tricky thing to do. It's probably a good thing it's not my job. But, I have liked Joe Biden all along, mainly because he is so outspoken and he is smart as well.

I did learn something new today. All the time that Barack was taken to task for not "chairing" the meetings regarding Nato and Foreign Affairs (I guess that is the title), Joe Biden was doing it. I'm sure that Joe and Barack made that agreement in order for Barack to concentrate on the campaign. And I'm sure Biden kept Obama informed. So what's the big deal????

Anyhow, I just felt compelled to comment on this morning's show and what I thought of Biden's performance, as well as to, once again, call attention to the passing of such a good man.

Remember, we need to keep supporting Barack through our contributions. We don't want another slow month like we had in May.....DONATE.

Fundraising

Good Morning,

I was disapointed to read that the fundraising total for the month of May was only $22 million. I surely do hope that is not a trend as we approach the upcoming General Election.

I know I feel bad because I cut back, largely because of the talk that some of our donations were going to be used to pay off Hillary's debts. I suppose I resented that idea because of the fact that she stayed in the race longer than was called for, and ran up her tab unnecesarily. Not to mention the constant negatives she sent Barack's way.

But, since she has agreed to support Barack, I feel a little more kindly, and now that it seems there will be separate fundraisers to help her, I have every intention to step up my donations.

That said, I would URGE EVERYONE TO STEP UP YOUR DONATIONS and get our campaign back on the right track so we can be assured that Barack will have the necessary money to win the General Election.

Barrack is doing all the right things...we couldn't ask for anything more....he needs our financial support....go get 'em...all fired up?....YES WE CAN!!!!!!!

My previous post was lacking, in that it didn't send a message of a higher thought or even one of encouragement. I would like to correct that.

When lending our thoughts to those things that can't be proven, or cause us to question what life is all about, etc., I simply must reflect on the passing of Tim Russert. For those of you who watched him on "Meet The Press", I'm sure you detected a little something special about the way he handled his job and the way he treated people. I, personally, looked forward to Sunday mornings because of Tim Russert.

When word was given that he had passed away due to a heart attack, I was devastated. For the next few days as I watched MSNBC and became immersed in the grief of those who knew him, I began to know him better. As I knew him better, I realized just what a good and kind man he was, how grounded he was in his Faith. I could go on and on but probably most of you have already seen and heard everything that I did. But there is one incident that happened that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

On the day of the funeral service, which was private, there was a public service which was televised and included several of his close friends who spoke, including his son Luke. The one theme which seemed to be emphasized throughout their speeches was just how much Tim enjoyed life and felt we should live each day to the fullest, as well as seek the joy life held. He was, indeed, a happy man and made others happy when he was around them.

At the end of the service, as people were leaving, a song started playing that I recognized right away. It was the recording of the Hawaiin singer, Israel, playing his Ukalele and singing, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". I surely felt a lump in my throat, but as the camera focused on the people going out the door, you could see a DOUBLE RAINBOW in the sky. Now, I'm a rather practical person, but my heart flipped and something inside me said that we had just received a message from Tim, telling us that all was well and to go forward with hope and joy.

So, I am trying to take his advice and would encourage everyone else to do the same. We have a Presidential Candidate who is capable of the same type of encouragement. How very fortunate we are.

I just read a Post on another person's web-site and didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Just can't believe the foolishness some people can come up with.

The article was about how there are those who are calling Barack Obama the "Anti Christ". It seems like every few years there is a "group" who like to think that the Anti Christ has made his appearance. I remember a time when the Russian leader (can't remember his name), who was rather balding, was accused of having the "Mark of the Beast" because he had a birthmark on his head that was quite noticable. I remember too that we had a popular political leader, Henry Kissenger, who was being accused of being the Anti Christ. They were able to determine that because of some mathematical procedure, which when used when counting the number of letters in his name, came up with the numbers 666. That idea was passed around for quite a while, and even discussed in several Bible studies.

I do believe we can find Demons wherever we choose, if that is where and what we want to do for a pass time. But, frankly, our time would be better spent concentrating on factual information and looking for the good in other people. We might even consider what "demons" are hiding deep within our own psyce waiting to be exposed. I sometimes scare myself when I lose my cool and am shocked at the outrageous thoughts I have and words I'm tempted to say.

Anyhow, those are my thought for today.

The Agony of Defeat..... follow-up

I am tru;y relieved Senator Obama is now our legitimate Democratic Nominee. We can finally heave a sigh of relief.

But, when I jokingly talked about the agony of defeat for Hillary, I didn't realize to what extent she would go in an effort to resist. I watched her when she gave her speech to the Jewish Committe and if ever there was a face covered with exhaustion and shock, it was hers. It seemed apparent that she was still struggling with the news that she had not received the nomination, instead it had gone to Barack. ( At least, in hindsight, it now appears that way.)

I do believe she is still struggling and will not give up the fight totally until after the Democratic Convention. Just can't help but feel a sense of pity for her. But, as I said before, and believe even more so now, to seek any position for the purpose of pride and power, rather than for the lofty goal of service, is asking for heartache if one loses. I have been taught lessons myself because I chose to forget that "Pride Goeth Before The Fall". Of course my goals weren't as lofty as the President of the United States. ha ha Still yet I wager most of us could say we've "Been there, done that".

So, the time has come, as Barack said, to prepare for the second race, to beat John McCain. I tend to think it will be a cakewalk after dealing with Senator Clinton. At least I hope so. This heart of mine isn't up to too much more excitement....ha ha

Just can't believe how easily I can be moved by what I perceive as another person's weakness. I have always been considered as one who readily supports the "underdog". Frankly, I would always disagree with that assessment, but now that I am getting older I have come to see that as a truth about myself. Realizing that as a weakness on my part, I said to myself, "Self, why are you suddenly beginning to feel sorry for Hillary Clinton? Is it because, all of the sudden she seems to have aged before your very eyes? Are you suddenly noticing the look of defeat in her expressions? Has her comments lately made her seem more humane, and therefore less vindictive? Is it because you know she has lost and is now the underdog for sure? Are you beginning to sense how much of a toll this race has taken on her physically and financially?"

I have to ask myself those questions while at the same time I am rejoycing that "our guy" is on the way to the White House singing Yes We Can all the way.......

I will indeed be comfortable thinking kind thoughts about those who are still trying to get over the shock of losing, or haven't yet given up. My only comment is, Thank God, we are on the winning side. Losing can be a hurtful thing, but it is much easier if those who win, do it graciously. And our candidate wants us to be gracious, I know.

The Fear Factor

This race should really be over. But, as times goes on, I am beginning to realize what, and why, it isn't. In case any of you have read Bill Schneider's comments this morning,( you may or may not agree with him) perhaps you will see what I am talking about.

At the beginning of this race, I felt that the motivating force behind Hillary was the need for Power. It is my view that ABNORMALLY ambitious people are always seeking do to better all the time. They seem to never be satisfied with their status quo. They will pursue an "illusive dream" their whole lifetime. But the problem is, they are never satisfied, and never truly happy unless they are seeking to do more, be more, and have more than their counter parts. Believe me, I know people like that. Sometimes you admire them, and sometimes you resent them, and sometimes you feel sorry for them. It's like a hungry lion that is never full. The more it is fed, the more it wants.

Everyone associated with Hillary in this campaign keeps saying that she needs to be allowed to end her race when she is ready, that she deserves the courtesy to stay in as long as whe wants. Well, that has a nice ring to it, and suggests a respectful and concilliatory attitude by those who surround her and compete against her. But, I fear that there is a "Woe is me" awaiting for everyone who takes this attitude.

Once one achieves that ultimate power of the Presidency of the United States, there is no where to go to top that. At least I can't think of where else you can go. So, what does this power hungry person do to satisfy their hunger? Frankly, I got a taste of a possiblity when she off handidly made the comment about Iran and how easily they could be "annihilated". Does the potential of taking over other countries seem tempting? Just how far would a person go to achieve that? I don't think such thoughts about Hillary are outside the realm of possibility.

Just look at how well Bush has been able to creat havoc and chaos, all in the name of "protecting" the United States. And I don't happen to believe that the current president is power happy. I just think he is not very smart and lets others do too much of his thinking for him.

That doesn't mean that I think she is planning to do anything harmful to this country. Far from it. I feel she truly believes that she, and only she, is able to decide what is best for America, and only she can make it happen. It's more a matter of a "Control" thing. All power hungry people have a BIG control problem. She has already said how she intends to stay in control of those around her once she is in the White House. In fact, she took Obama to task because he admitted that he liked to delegate responsibility. I recall distinctly when that came up in one of their debates. Frankly, that was a red light to me.

Anyhow, as far as I am concerned, it's time to call a halt to the doubts and negative suggestions generated by Hillary and her staff towards Barack. Can't understand why those in a position to do so just won't go ahead and pull the plug. Senator Obama will be able to bring others to his side when he is not being distracted by the Hillary crowd. Just give him a chance and quit letting FEAR of Hillary's influence be a deciding factor. She has had her day in the sun. It is time for her to say "night night" and give it a rest.

Update on Wright issue

Well, what do I say. I was taken in, and formed a solid opinion which I felt was accurate. My only consolation is I am not alone. But that is nothing to be proud of, I guess. I'm sure there are many out there who were taken in by the former pastor of Senator Obama's church.

I had intended to not mention Wright's name again, but I just can't let my last Post stand as my present opinion. So I need to clarify my position now. I can just imagine the depth and breadth of Barack's total disappointment and feeling of betrayal. My heart truly goes out to him and Michele!!!! Frankly, I'm not too sure Pastor Wright hasn't gone slightly off his rocker. The Press Club interview and performance was actually humerous at times, but at the same time quite pathetic. I've never seen anybody totally disentigrate right before my eyes, and not even recognize it at the time for what it was.

It really wasn't until Barack spoke that I truly realized the impact of Wright's attack. then I was furious, because it hit me that this was possibly going to be a fatal blow to the campaign. But we just can't let that happen. I gave another donation and am hoping everyone else does too.

Obama is going to be on Tim Russert's show, "Meet The Press" this Sunday. Am hoping some effective damage control can happen. I like Tim and I know he is a fair and just person. Obama needs our prayeers, but our prayers should move us to action. Let's go Obamanites!!!!

Right on "Willa from Obama". You called it. There is not much I can say to improve upon your Post. I watched Rev. Wright's speech and am totally impressed with the man. His credentials and background certainly warrant his taking steps to correct the image that was portrayed by the sound bites shown over and over on ALL of the TV channels. As far as I am concerned, the matter should be put to rest. Also, the introduction given him spoke VOLUMES of the man's character and educational credentials. (Eat your heart out Lou Dobbs, Shawn Hannity, Morning Joe, Fox News, etc. )

I can better understand why Senator Obama refused to "disown" the man. I hold Barack in even higher esteem because of the way he handled the whole thing. But, there is no doubt, they are two different type of personalities, cut from a different cloth. Perhaps Barack could use some of the good pastor's fiery dialogue and Pastor Wright could use some of Barack's laid back temperment. It matters not, really, they are who they are. Each are best suited for the professions they have chosen.

I do know one thing. I would consider it a privilege to be a member of a church that was Pastored by Rev. Wright. Certainly I would be able to leave the church on Sunday morning knowing I had been been in the presence of a messenger of God.

As far as I am concerned, anyone who chooses to speak ill of Rev Wright now, or puts Barack down because of his association with Rev. Wright is in the wrong corner, and up to no good.

I want to thank Ben for giving a blow by blow accounting of Obama's interview with Chris Wallace. That was very good. Had I known he was going to do that I would not have bothered watching although I am glad I watched too. I always enjoy watching and listening to Barack. I was all primed because I had just finished watching Howard Dean on Meet The Press. Sorry, but I did not do as good a job as Ben. I never documented anything, just relied on my memory, which is not very good!!! I am really mostly left with an impression of the overall discussion.

I hate to sound critical, but I can't help but feel that Howard Dean is a "Woos" (whatever that means). I've heard that term before and I think it means weak or timid or not much back bone. Anyhow, as far as I am concerned he comes across that way. What disturbs me the most about him is his attitude about the Super Delegates. According to him, it appears that they can, indeed, change the end game of the election if they decide that the person "most electible" is not the one with the most delegates or the highest number of votes. I find that appalling and will protest with much vigor should Barack be denied the nomination because of the "whim" of the Super Delegates. There is no way that should be allowed!!

Fund Raiser

I started my own Fund Raiser a short time ago. Am not sure whether to solicit donations from those of you on the web-site or not. I see that many of you have fund raisers of your own and that probably keeps you busy. But, should any one feel motivated to donate to mine, please feel free to do so.

I have decided that each time I get frustrated from now on, I am going to donate to my fund. Perhaps it will be an incentive to get my emotions under control...ha

I have cut back on my TV viewing. And each time "you know who" comes on, I turn the TV off or change channels. That helps. I do want everyone to know though, that Jack Cafferty of CNN is my hero. Just love that guy. It is so obvious that he is an Obama supporter. Time to challenge John McCain

I had another brainstorm this morning. Why couldn't Barack challenge McCain to a Debate? Rather than waste time and energy on a Democratic opponent who can't overtake him, it seems to me that each time he is challenged to debate her, he could instead turn his attention to debating the person who matters, John McCain.

I realize that debates take time and energy, and he needs to concentrate on the rest of the Primary states, but this is one way of showing everyone that he is not "afraid" to debate, he just sees no point in debating someone that only wants to argue instead of discussing issues.

I agree with the New York Times

It was nice to read something this morning that my mind could say, "Yes, right on". The New York Times hit the nail right on the head. It's too bad they didn't have the forsight to see through Hilary Clinton before they endorsed her.

Anyhow, The sentiments they proclaimed are pretty close to what I had expressed a short time ago. Regardless of what the various News Media and even some of what Obama's own supporters have declared, (including myself at one time), I have come to the firm conclusion that Barack's decision to "fight back" with negative attacks was a tactical error in judgement. He simply must not resort to that again.

I can't help but believe that Barack's speech last night gave a hint that he, too, realized it is time to go back to the High Road. He as much as admitted that he had gotten sidetracked and allowed himself to be drawn down to Hillary's level (so to speak). NO MORE !! He is much better than that. He doesn't need to do that. His message is carried more accurately when he stays on message. You just can't mix Hope with Negative. It's either one or the other, and Senator Clinton has to keep that in mind.

I want so badly to get my message to him, but it's pretty unlikely he will read this because of all the e-mails that are sent to him. So, I decided to write this Blog and send it out that way. Hopefully someone will see it and send it on.

I have every intention of fighting on until we get him in the White House, but without any further reference to Hillary Clinton. I am thinking that if a person just totally ignores her, perhaps she'll just GO AWAY.

I did some phone banking after I took my head out from under the covers. Whew! 'Twas getting hot under there.

Even decided to watch a little MSNBC this morning. An addiction is awfully hard to break. Anyhow, I heard Barack say that this election in Pennsylvania is going to be closer than people think. That is all I needed to hear. He seems confident and calm. That is what I needed to see. He just has a way of calming the seas of frustration when he makes up his mind.

I still would just LOVE to see the whole thing end tomorrow evening. Who knows? Maybe it will...

Enough is Enough

I think I've had it. Have spent the morning watching too much TV instead of going to church. Had a feeling I would pay for that..

This whole Primary thing is getting out of hand. When Obama first started "our" campaign, it was intended that he was going to take the High Road with No negativity. Well, it has slipped off of that High Road. He is allowing Hillary to drag him down. IT HAS TO STOP!

Also, I believe Barack needs to go back to his Strength. He does well with speeches and that is what we need to hear more of. One of the news commentators said he should have given a speech about Gun Control, using that as an opportunity to point out the safety problem the rest of the country is facing, rather than cater to the Pennsylvania gun lovers. Instead he pandered to them, sounding more like a politician than a leader of policy. At first I was offended, but have given it more thought and now I think I agree. Especially since I am not a gun lover myself, but do have mixed emotions about how the whole thing should be handled. I would really appreciate some guidance and leadership in that area.

Hillary is being allowed to set the stage and run the show. WHY???? She can't fight against his authoritive manner and his oratorical skills, so he needs to make better use of them. He needs to make better use of the humor in her "childish" attempts to be a fighter. The Annie Oakley thing was great. Need more of that, instead of losing his cool.

Obama can have a press conference and address the issues which he feels are creating the most problems for voters. Take the conversation to a higher level like he did with the Rev. Wright issue. I know he can do it. We need to get out of the quagmire Hillary has dug for us.

Unless we close out this Primary soon, I think I'll just throw the covers over my head until it's over.

I would like for someone to help me understand why there isn't more made out of the fact that there were 35,000 people who came to a Rally to see Barack Obama in Pennsylvania. I suppose I could pass it off as an oversight, but then I see on TV that there is so much being made out of the 15,000 who were at the White House to see the Pope. And I am not seeing any numbers to see the Pope that even come close to the 35,000 in Pennsylvania to see Barack.

Don't get me wrong. I do admire the Pope and believe he deserves all of the news coverage that he gets, but fair is fair and it seems to me that a crowd of 35,000 people to see one of our Presidential Candidates is not anything to sneeze at.

Did I miss something, or perhaps I am crying "sour grapes". If so, please set me straight. Thanks.

Hillary's Real Goal

I copied this from another Post so I could send it to Barack and Campaign Headquarters. I am hoping they have Obama STAY in Pennsylvania from now until the 22nd. I believe that if he really bombards Pennsylvania with his presence, and spends the time talking in a positive way about what he intends to do once he becomes President, that he can win the state.

There is no way he should give Hillary a chance to take the presidency away from him..

I have tried to resist this thought, but Hillary Clinton's real goal is becoming clear to me: Make sure Barack Obama does not win in November. She knows that her constant attacks have little chance of getting her the nominamtion. It therefore seem that she is going to see to it the Sen. Obama loses in November, so she can run again in 2012.

I do not believe her strategy will work, but time will tell.

No More Butterflies

I watched Obama and Hillary give their views last night on their Faith and how it affects their views regarding how they would function as President.

Well, I am here to say that I have no more butterflies in my tummy. I also watched the video where Obama took on Hillary for her game of politics and said "shame on you".

If there are those who still choose to be critical of Barack and want to put him down, then those people can't be satisfied no matter what he says. For those who choose to not recognize the goodness in this man, then it is their loss.

I do believe that Barack will ultimately become our next President. For this country to choose otherwise would be the biggest mistake we could ever make. I shudder to think what we are in store for if we don't put Obama in the White House.

Another hurdle to climb

Here I go again with those butterflies in my stomach. The same butterflies I got when the Rev. Wright thing exploded. Well, Barack made it through that one, so now I am praying he will make it through this one.

But, for the life of me, I just can't figure out what all of the hullaballoo is about. He has clarified his remarks and said he regretted any hurt feelings which were incurred, etc. And frankly, I never thought there was anything that disparaging said in the first place. Maybe I am an Elitist also, and just don't know it. (Haven't yet figured out just how an Elitist thinks.)

I always thought I was a normal average middle class American. Because I take refuge in my Faith and familiar things that feel warm and fuzzy when other things around me start to fall apart, like food and gas prices soaring sky high, driving an older car because the new ones are too expensive. I could also name the fact that we don't take vacations due to lack of funds. Everything we do revolves around that almighty dollar it seems. And it seems to go to those who "have", and those of us who "have not" just do without. Now, if I sound a little "bitter", then I sound like a lot of my friends. We all talk the same lanquage.

How dare the likes of Hillary Clinton and her gang take issue with how we feel! She comes from the group of people who make so much money that she can well afford to dole out milliions of dollars for Charity to make herself look good and deduct from their income tax. It make more sense for a politician to give more money to charity and not to the IRS. Right? And further more, I read in the Journal Star that her campaign now has stickers that say, "I Am Not Bitter". Well, hoopdydoo, and bully for you, you hypocrite! We should make stickers that say, "I Lie a Lot And Get By With It" and send them to her free of charge. She really pulled it off with her whopper about the sniper bullets in Bosnia. Too bad we didn't make some stickers about her dodging bullets.

I just got back to the computer after taking time out to watch "Meet The Press". I do feel better. Leave it to Tim Russert to lift my spirits. He is so fair and accurate with his reporting. Anyhow, the overall assessmenet of the campaign according to his panel this morning pretty much concluded that Obama would get the nomination, because of Hillary's numerous flaws. I concur..Butterflies are gone. At least for now.....

I was at the Obama fundraiser in San Francisco that has gotten so much attention of late. It was a small event, maybe 250 people. Having seen Obama speak at large rallies, this event had more of a living room feel, despite the fact that people were packed in like sardines in a large private house. Obama's speech was part stump speech, part relaxed conversation with his supporters.

At the end of this small event Obama took four questions, one of which was from a couple of supporters going to Pennsylvania to work for the campaign. They wanted to know what kinds of questions they could expect to get from people in Pennsylvania. Obama began to answer their question by talking about the cultural and geographic diversity in Pennsylvania. He then proceeded to talk about what kind of attitudes and obstacles they might run into in the parts of the state that had been economically devastated by job loss. He talked about the fact that they would run into great cynicism about Washington or any promise of political change. He talked about the frustration and yes, bitterness, in some of these areas, where people had lost industry and jobs twenty five years before, jobs that never came back. He talked about the culture in these communities and what people had done to cope with economic hardship. This was an attempt both to tell these supporters what they might run up against and what were the challenges for the campaign in the industrial Midwest as a whole. Obama was both giving a speech to the supporters present at the event and a heart-to-heart to this couple that was ready to go door-to-door in Pennsylvania.

Imagine my surprise to see an article in the Huffington Post by Mayhill Fowler describing his answer as "a problematic judgment call in trying to explain working class culture to a much wealthier audience." and his answer being like "explaining the yawning cultural gap that separates a Turkeyfoot from a Marin County." I guess Ms. Fowler thought that, unlike herself, the other attendees had never gone outside the large house in Pacific Heights where the event was held. I grew up working class in Texas. I thought it ironic that Ms Fowler, was attempting to paint Obama as a condescending elitist, while at the same time she was stereotyping everybody at the event with her omniscient insight. In any case, her agenda was clear. Despite Ms. Fowler talking about the people at the fundraiser being middle class in an earlier post, the "rich man poor man" theme fit better with the "Obama as a judgmental elite, talking to judgmental elites" spin. This also seemed to fit with some of her earlier articles where she had described Obama as cocky, arrogant, and even "flirty". What a coincidence that she now writes an article putting another twist on Obama's personality. All she had to do was a sneak a recorder in an small event for Obama supporters and do a little bit of crafty writing and out of context editing. Now Fox News and Lou Dobbs are having a field day.

It was great seeing Obama in a relaxed setting, talking both in detail and inspiring prose, in what was essentially a large living room.

Too bad there were roaches under the sofa.

Indianapolis trip

I received the following report from one of the gals in our area who made the trip to Indianapolis last Saturday. I was supposed to go, but needed to stay home because of my grandson's birthday. Just wanted to share with you how well it went. You will probably get a more detailed report from her later. She is a super girl and a totally dedicated supporter of Barack Obama. We are also fortunate to have many dedicated students at Bradley University in Peoria, IL

Joanne, We had a great day. Meg & I worked at a Wal-Mart. We just stood at the door with a clip board and asked people who came in if thy were registered to vote. I know we got over 100 registered. The organizer had to make more copies for us. People were very appreciative that we were there. Most of these were probably for Obama. We wore our Obama pins and shirts so they knew we were working for Obama. Got lots of good feedback about Obama. I did have one ignoramus ask me "why would you vote for someone who wants to blow us up"! ? Another sweet old lady said she like that young man but she was not sure about his name -Osama Binladen. I made sure she knew his name and that he was a Christian. The Bradley students went to a small college campus and a shopping mall. They did not get as many registered but did a lot of talking. There was 15 that went. It was fun but it was a long day and I was exhausted when we got back. Overall I feel good about Indiana. Later, Debbie

In 1961, a young African-American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines.

In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. (They provide medical assistance to the Marines as well as to Navy personnel.)

The man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander in chief's medical team, and helped care for President Lyndon B. Johnson after his 1966 surgery. For his service on the team, which he left in 1967, the White House awarded him three letters of commendation.

What is even more remarkable is that this man entered the Marines and Navy not many years after the two branches began to become integrated.

While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President Dick Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/sailor, received five deferments, four for being an undergraduate and graduate student and one for being a prospective father. Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, both five years younger than the African-American youth, used their student deferments to stay in college until 1968. Both then avoided going on active duty through family connections.

Who is the real patriot? The young man who interrupted his studies to serve his country for six years or our three political leaders who beat the system? Are the patriots the people who actually sacrifice something or those who merely talk about their love of the country?

After leaving the service of his country, the young African-American finished his final year of college, entered the seminary, was ordained as a minister, and eventually became pastor of a large church in one of America's biggest cities.

This man is Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the retiring pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, who has been in the news for comments he made over the last three decades.

Since these comments became public we have heard criticisms, condemnations, denouncements and rejections of his comments and him.

We've seen on television, in a seemingly endless loop, sound bites of a select few of Rev. Wright's many sermons.

Some of the Wright's comments are inexcusable and inappropriate and should be condemned, but in calling him "unpatriotic," let us not forget that this is a man who gave up six of the most productive years of his life to serve his country.

How many of Wright's detractors, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly to name but a few, volunteered for service, and did so under the often tumultuous circumstances of a newly integrated armed forces and a society in the midst of a civil rights struggle? Not many.

While words do count, so do actions.

Let us not forget that, for whatever Rev. Wright may have said over the last 30 years, he has demonstrated his patriotism.

Churches are coming to the forefront on Race Issue

I think it is great to see various churches come together in defense of Senator Obama's church and Pastor. At least they recognize that the min-second sound bites displaying some of Rev. Wright's worst moments do not accurately describe nor define the man in his totality. There are too many ministers and Christian Leaders expressing the goodness of the man for there to be justification for the "demonization" of him that has taken place.

I am truly relieved, because it was hard for me to believe that God would abandon the church, the man and all they have done to further the Kingdon of God. I am an elderly white woman, and if I can see, and witness to, the injustice in our society regarding our Race disparity, certainly others can recognize it.

Senator Obama is quite correct. It is time to have a discussion and make more of an effort to bring about reconcilliation.

I just read where the most recent poll taken in Pennsylvania shows a narrowing, and Clinton leads Obama by only 9 points. Since Obama has until April 22nd to introduce himself to the voters of Pennsylvania, it is looking pretty good.

At this point I would be willing to entertain the idea that Barack could win Pennsylvania. How about you?

I have a friend who teaches music in our local Middle School. Her son is a practicing Attorney in St. Louis, MO. He and I exchange e-mails frequently. He is also a drummer and plays with a local band periodically. It is a hobby that provides him with needed relaxation. Also, he is the only White man in the band. The rest of them are Black.

Anyhow, he was telling about a short trip they had takan to perfom one weekend, and when they first arrived at the location the security man started paying a great deal of attention to one of the band members who was very big. (By the way, he was also a retired policeman) My friend engaged in a conversation with the Security man and they started discussing the bad weather they encountered on their way there. The Security man asked my friend,"Oh, are you with them"? When he said yes, the Security man then paid no more attention to the big man in the band.

Now, you can read whatever you want into that, but my friend said that the band members have noticed such attitudes on more than one occasion. I just can't imagine how it would feel to always be concerned about how you might be treated because of your color. It has to be intimidating to say the least.

Once again, I have to say how well Barack Obama handled the race issue in his speech.. The one thing I have noticed about our candidate is, of all the charges thrown at him, not one has stuck. That is because they don't apply to anything he has done, they only pertain to people around him. That is the big difference between him and Hillary... That is also why Barack is not afraid to tackle the big issues. He has a clear conscience and an honorable mission. He is indeed a breath of fresh air.

Well, Hillary finally got caught with her hand in the "cookie jar". She got caught red-handed. It remains to be seen if the News Media will dog her as much as they have dogged Barack over the Pastor Wright situation.

How else can you describe an "out and out lie" other than "She Lied", deliberately. Well, of course, she says she "Mispoke"!! That is some more of the Clinton Doublespeak which they have been practicing for years. She learned it from Bill. Consider his comment,"That depends on your interpretation of IS" (or something like that). Remember that one? Just another reason why we need Barack Obama in the White House...

Typical White Person

Well, I've about had it with all of the "nit picking" over every word that comes out of Obama's mouth. Jeese!! Give the guy a break.

Regarding the comment referring to his Grandmother's reaction when talking about meeting a black man on the street, may I say that I fully understand just what he is talking about. I was raised in a small town where there were very few African Americans, but I went to school with them and there was no noticable race issues that I was aware of.

On the other hand, we lived about 15 miles from Peoria, IL and there was a neighborhood consisting mostly of "minorities". And the general thinking was to avoid that neighborhood for fear of being "accosted" by someone of the African American community. As a result, when ever you might meet a black man on the street downtown, there was the instinct to avoid them. And that was indeed the thinking of the "typical white person".

Thank God we have grown beyond that. I do believe that is the reason I support Barack Obama so strongly. Because I believe he can help this present generation to overcome such attitudes. I am 75 years old, and feel embarrassed that I bought into such thinking years ago, but there was no one to privide the leadership until MLK. And now I do believe the torch has been passed to Barack Obama.

Hi Everyone,

The sun is shining and it is the first day of Spring (I think). Anyhow, I feel like Spring is here. It' good to not have garbage from Fox News cluttering my mind. In fact, I am getting quite selective about what I watch on the other 2 channels.

There are 6 ladies coming over this evening to write post cards to send to Pennsylvania. I am really looking forward to it. Have any of you gotten involved this event? I'll let you know how it went tomorrow. We're making a party out of it. Went shopping for snacks today and one of the girls is bringing Pizza.

I did switch onto MSNBC this morning and Morning Joe was talking to Dr. Bruzinski (I cannot spell or pronounce his name...sorry) Anyhow, I only got in on it for the very last part. From what I saw, the good Dr. was really supporting and bragging on Barack Obama. It was wonderful all the nice things he said. I do remember that he was quite involved in politics and held an important position in one of the President's administrations, but can't remember who. It appeared that the blonde girl on the show was his daughter, from what was said. Can anybody out there clear this up for me? I hate it when I get in on just a portion of a show and don't know really what is going on. I know that is how misinformation gets started. But my curiosity and interest really got going when I heard him talking so nicely about Barack....

The only reason I am bringing this up is, as Dr. B. was talking, it dawned on me that if more people of his caliber would come forward and publicize Obama's wonderful virtues and qualities, perhaps that would help squelch some of the negative fallout of Pastor Wright. I see that Hillary is parading a slew of generals and military men to extol her so-called experience. Makes me gag....

Is there some way we could encourage more influential people to come forward? It seems to me that some one needs to take the bull by the horms (so to speak) and speak out for our man. That's what I think, anyhow. Enjoy the nice day.....

He Did It

I am still in a state of Euphoria! Do believe that his speech is right up there with MLK's "I Have a Dream". It will indeed go down in history, and will be taught in all of your schools as one man's attempt to put all of our problems in context, giving us an opportunity to reach out to one another at last and heal our land. Frankly, I cried through most of it. I was so moved and so relieved and happy to finally realize what an Obama President looked like. There is NO WAY he is not going to win this race. The man was born to lead us NOW, AT THIS TIME.

I still could cry for joy by what he said. He reaffirmed my belief in him and our country.

Goodbye Fox News!!

Well, I finally did it!! I have made a vow to no longer watch Fox News. It was causing me to suffer from indigestion too many times. Not to mention the loss of sleep I experienced while I fantisized of various way I might cause them pain (none of which were successful).

I haven't watched them since yesterday and I feel better already. Yey!! I got a good nights sleep. Now, I'll monitor the other News channels with the same goal in mind and see how long they last in our household. My husband prefers local news anyhow, so he won't be missing them.

Frankly, if it weren't for Lou Dobbs and Wolf Blitzer, I wouldn't have much of a quarrel with CNN, but they certainly turn me off. I only started watching MSNBC so can't really comment on them just yet. (Although I think Morning Joe looks like Tom Hanks, so that is a plus for him)

I only have two favorite News Commentators, and that is Tim Russert of "The Morning Press", and Jack Cafferty who shares time with Wolf Blitzer on CNN. Actually it is because of Jack that I continue to hang in there with CNN.

So that sums up my evaluation of the current offerings on the TV News Media, for what it is worth. ha ha

Have decided to spend more time on my computer and my artistic paint brush in an effort to absorb and create, as well as helping with the campaign. Wish me luck.

I read in the paper this morning that Chris Wallace of the Fox News Sunday Morning Show is pressuring Barack Obama to appear on his show (As if he hasn't already made the rounds). Anyhow, I did write him and express my disappointment with Fox News. I was politely honest with what I thought of them.

There are those who suggested that because Hillary started attacking the press about how unfairly she was being treated, they laid off her and started on Barack. So, maybe we can accomplish the same thing. It's worth a try.

At first I thought it was just Fox News, but now it includes ALL of the Conservatives on each Network. They are behaving like someone who has found a lamb to take to the slaughter, sharpening their knives and laughing with glee. It makes me sick....

The fact that the supporters of Pastor Wright are starting to complain and seem to be upset with Senator Obama is concerning me. We don't need any more fires to put out.

I have given the matter regarding Florida and Michigan a lot of thought. After watching and listening and reading the many, many suggestions, have come to a logical conclusion.

The only fair way to satisfy the rules as well as the concerns of the Delegates is to split the votes evenly between Obama and Hillary. That would satisfy the rules that neither states' votes would count, as punishment for moving their date. THEN, allow an equal number of Delegates to be seated at the Convention.

This is the ONLY thing that makes any sense. I do hope everyone will see the reasoning and fairness of such a decision. Frankly, it's the only thing I would be happy with. Fair is fair and right is right, as far as I am concerned.... So, let the games begin..

Another hill to climb

I see not point in belaboring all that has taken place the last couple of days. As far as I am concerned, Senator Obama satisfactorily addressed his position last night on all TV channels possible. He is an innocent man who happens to have a close friend who thinks differently than he does. And that's that. Period, exclamation point, 'nuff said!!!

He has my complete and unabridged support. I do hope everyone else will continue to support him also.

But, I do want to say that I am quite disappointed in our News Media. I never realized just how influential they are with what the general public thinks. It has been an eye opener. There is no doubt that whatever the way the Media goes, so goes most viewers. I am totally in awe of their power!!! There is no doubt that FOX NEWS has to be the most vicious. Hannity & Colmes, Bill O'Reilly seem to top the list with negative attacks and self righteous attitudes. But I refuse to let my disappointment in them steal my complete belief and hope for the future with Obama as our President.

I have signed a petition that was sent around in support of Obama, and sent a letter to him declaring my support. This can be overcome! Just one more little hill to climb.

Senator Obama Responds

Check with CNN tonight at 10 pm on the Anderson Cooper show. Due to the difference in time frame for some of you, you might want to check at 9 pm.

Senator Obama is scheduled to be on Anderson's show, according to Wolf Blitzer. Also, Wolf read a rather lengthy response from Barack denouncing his minister's quite enflammatory and divisive remarks during sermons at his church. Senator Obama spoke with very strong language stating his position about such matters. I only heard it read through once and it sounded convincing to me. But, wouldn't you know that Lou Dobbs came on the show and discussed his opinion with Wolf Blitzer. Regarding his opinion (just give me a break)...yuck.....

I put Lou Dobbs in the same catagory as Rush Limbough, Hannity on Fox News, and all those radical Media Madonnas who think they are God's gift to mankind, put in charge of policing the airwaves. Heaven forbid we are allowed to think for ourselves. I tune them out the minute they open their mouth.

Frankly, the only person on CNN that I have any use for is Jack Cafferty and Larry King. As for FOX News, forget them. I do like Tim Russert on MSNBC and Morning Joe. In fact I do believe MSNBC is probably the closest you'll get to acceptable news reporting, and they do it with some humor too, which makes it easier to watch.

I think the best thing is for Pastor Jeramiah Wright to issue a statement, or go on one of the talk shows and totally exonerate Barack Obama from any of Pastor Wright's views. It would be even better if Pastor Wright himself would apologize for his statements and attempt to make amends. But I don't expect that to happen. We'll see what develops tonight..... I feel certain Senator Obama will calm the storm....................

This article pretty much clarifies what the present situation within the Democratic party is leading to. It makes me think of the person who says, "If I can't have you , then neither can anyone else", as they proceed to shoot the person and then themself. Only in this case the person being fought over is the Presidency of the United States. This may not be the best example to explain what's happening, but it's all I could come up with right now. None of what is going on makes any sense at all. In reality, it's a very sad thing, because I repeat again. The danger of splitting the Democratic Party and giving the election to John McCain is a very real and imminant danger. Somehow, Hillary and her supporters must wake up to this fact. Guilt By Association? Not!

Well, it's happened. I've been waiting for Barack's minister to become the latest attack weapon. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that it would happen sooner or later. And of course it was initiated by good 'ole Bill O'Reilly, then Wolf Blitzer followed. It's amazing how much they think alike.

I had heard "rumblings" of this minister before, but had not really paid too much attention because I had never heard him speak. Well, I finally got a chance, and I must say I was somewhat surprised at the man's strong language against those he viewed as anti-African American. There is no doubt the good minister has a lot of axes to grind. Nothing coming out of his mouth even came close to what Senator Obama conveys. They are as different as night and day. But, of course, I only heard excerpts of a Christmas sermon, and excerpts of one he gave shortly after 9/11. They were short, lasting about 15 or 20 seconds. Lasting long enough to give you a bad taste in your mouth.

The first thought that came to my mind was,"Who or What has hurt him so badly that he feels it necessary to condemn all White Americans"? Because that is what he was doing. It's quite sad and disheartening. I am sure that Barack would like to have reached out and closed the minister's mouth long enough to reason with him and show him that White people are capable of love also. Because, you see, that is the way I see Barack Obama. I see him as a healer, a uniter, a man of peace, someone who wants to bring us all together. I suspect that the words spoken by the minister could indeed be one of the motivating factors involved in his decision to try and bring about healing. That could even be the main reason Barack chose not to distance himself from his church and the minister. Barack must have seen some hope for the man. And the minister must have shown other positive qualities and/or virtues it seems. I certainly saw none. But I do suspect if he knew just how much damage his words could do to Barack's bid for the Presidency, he would have given more thought to what he said.

It really matters little now, because the good Reverend has retired and is no longer spouting such talk from the pulpit (thank goodness), but his words will no doubt stay alive as long as there are those who want to hurt or harm Senator Obama. They are the ones who thrive on harmful and hurtful actions against those who want to help our country go forward, to bring about the change in government that we need. They thrive on dissention. It is their "bread and butter". It is what affects the ratings. That's the real issue, and it is a sad state of affairs in our country now.

I have no idea just where this whole thing will go and what the end game will be, but I am here to tell all that if we let these Naysayers get by with taking down our candidate, then shame on us. We are bigger and better than that because we support a bigger and better candidate than the others.

Well, we have another win in the Obama column. Now it's on to the "biggy" state that is supposed to be Hillary's. May I suggest that we give her a run for her money? Let's bombard them with phone calls, letters, door to door contacts, and all kinds of smiles and kind words while we fend off any negatives with every positive remark we can think of. You know what "they" say,"Kill them with kindness". It's certainly worth a try.

Frankly, I am counting on the Obama Campaign itself to counter the garbage that Hillary's camp is throwing around. But, we have to admit that some of the smut is coming from her supporters who don't always check with her. I do think that Geraldine Ferraro spoke as an individual without consulting with Hillary. I further believe that she (Geraldine) carries enough clout that Hillary can't afford to lose her. That is why she wouldn't kick her out of her camp. She is hoping that just a slap on the wrist is enough. We may see more of that. But, never fear, that kind of an attitude is only going to hurt Clinton in the long run. But it will also do damage to the Party also, in the long run.

I am beginning to believe that, starting now, because of the obvious beginnings of a real split, we are looking at a situation that could make a Republican victory a real possiblility. I doubt if the Democratic Party can regain unity if Hillary continues this nonsense. Also, the fight over Florida and Michigan will further damage any agreement they might reach. There are a lot of negatives being built within the party that will be unsurmountable if they continue. I hate to sound like a doom and gloom nay sayer, but it's hard to not see the writing on the wall.

As far as I am concerned, only cool heads will prevail, but they had better get busy and provide a clear and sensible direction with straight talk regarding the facts. If the seat in the White House is to be achieved, then there needs to be a stop to tearing down the opposing candidate. It's obvious that Obama is not guilty of this, so the blame lies soley with Hillary and her group. If she can't be stopped, then we might as well prepare for a McCain Presidency.

The only other option is to win in each of the remaining states by such a large margin that there is no question Obama emerges as the winner regardles of what happens in Florida and Michigan. So, that is what we need to strive for....Let's go....Yes We Can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for "Follow The Leader"

I copied the quote below, that I read on the Web-site, but can't remember the author's name. Sorry. Anyhow, it does give one pause. It pretty closely states what I had tried to explain in one of my previous Posts. Not that I lay claim to any great dose of wisdom, FAR FROM IT. I just have a gut feeling that while we feel an outrage regarding what Hillary is doing, it is simply more important to remember that we are the followers, NOT the leader

We just can't take a chance on saying or doing things that cause Obama to spend time putting out fires from his own camp. He's confronted with enough to handle from the opposition. That is the point I have been trying to make, and I feel this quote says it much better than I.

"Right now, Obama doesn't have a negativity problem, as much as a discipline problem. Campaign aides gone wild will hurt Obama more than a campaign strategy that fairly compares and contrasts his style and issues to Clinton's."

I just read this morning that Bill Clinton gave a speech where he is REALLY pushing the idea of a Dream Ticket with the two of them. So, apparently, Hillary is serious about the idea. I don't believe Obama is, but can't see inside his head. I do recall that JFK and Johnson could hardly stand each other, yet they joined hands in order to "save" the party and win the election. So, such things are sometimes done, whether we approve or not. I surely can't see that happening in this case. As far as I am concerned, the best way to safeguard against it is to follow Barack's lead and pay attention to what he says.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This election is Senator Obama's to (win or) lose. He is in the driver's seat, and it should be run the way he wants it to be run. We have agreed to help him because we chose to believe in him, and what he stands for. At the present time, Obama is ahead in every category, except for a few Super Delegates. She has also caught up to him in the National Polls. But these are matters that he can handle, as long as we continue to be supportive and don't create any distractions.

Most all of the Bloggs I read are very encouraging, and make me proud to be a part of this campaign (movement). Am not sure which it is. I think I really believe it is more of a movement, because of the inspirational aspect of it. I like the idea of being inspired, rather than being upset or mad, and I surely believe that we, as Obama supporters, have a whole lot more to be inspired about than the opposition.

I certainly can sympathize with Samantha Powers. She has my vote. By the same token, I can't take issue with Senator Obama. It is our job to support him and work with him. This is HIS campaign to win or lose, according to his best Judgement.

Frankly, there are other words which probably could have been used which would have conveyed the same message. But I suspect Samantha had reached her tolerance (boiling) point and just could not contain herself. Really, dealing with Hillary at such a close range would make me subject to such temptations. But, I'm not as smart as most of those people working at such levels. So, I would suppose we must hold them to a higher standard.

I will say this, "If Samantha Powers would ever need a reference from me, I will give it to her, buffered with a soft cushion, gold medal, free tickets to any artistic performance she chooses, and whatever else she desires". That should give you an idea of what my thoughts are regarding Obama's other Democratic rival.

So much for that. I'm sure Samantha will survive. There are too many people who agree with her, and she will probably be bombarded for job interviews.
And the campaign will go on, waiting for another attack to counter or another fire to put out.

Whatever the case may be, I feel confident this campign is Obama's to win or lose. It is up to him. He is too far ahead for her to catch up. He has a mega-amount of money coming in (We're doing our part), and most of the remaining states favor him. It really does depend now on how well he handles the remaining "flare-ups" and sells his ideas to the voters.
I remember him saying at the outset that if he didn't win the Presidency, it wouldn't be because of his race, it would be because he didn't explain or convince the American people he had the best solutions for our country (or something close to that). He has defined the Change (in part) as taking the Hi-road, and he, so far, is doing a great job of doing that. We'll just have to wait and see if it can survive for the rest of the campaign. So Be It

I have read many Posts since the recent voting contests, and it's been quite educational, including the one I wrote the morning after the Ohio and Texas Primaries. Can't believe I fell trap to my own emotions. And frankly, I'm still battling some resentment. Nevertheless, am moving forward and determined to do, and be, that which I expect from others.

Senator Obama is right! If his message is to carry any weight at all, then we need to believe it with all our heart, and follow his lead.

Dirty politics is one of the most important things he is fighting against when he calls for "change". For those who can't see that, and are willing to wilt at the first sign of attacks hurled at him, then "so be it". For those who believe in what he is saying, but are easily swayed and willing to give up when the going gets rough, then "so be it".

To those who choose to join the fray and get down and fight dirty I say this. "That is just the opposite of what the Senator is trying to convey when he speaks of Change". I know, it's hard to understand how we can possibly win this November if we don't start attacking and using the same tactics as Hillary, AND the News Media. Their motives are different, but their methods are the same. Hillary wants to win and the Media wants to make money.

Our motives and methods should reflect what the Senator represents. His motive is to make Government an instrument FOR the people, giving people the power. He taught the Constitution and is well grounded in what should be happening in Washington. And his method is to demonstrate through his and OUR behaviour just how that should come about. I know he is up to the task, but the question we have to ask ourself is, "Are we ready for the challenge"?

If we are ready for the challenge, then we ALL must become the majority so we can resist the negative assaults that are hurled against us. This can only be done with our vote. It's too bad that not enough of us stood firm in this last series of elections, but it is not too late, and there is still time to correct the mistake. Apparently we didn't work hard enough to convince others, so we need to improve on that. We can, at least, give ourselves an A+ for our contributions. Frankly, I'm pretty proud of that. but, money alone will not take Barack to the White House.

So, I have learned a lesson that I hope I can hold onto. Be That which I expect of others, and DO that which I expect of others. If this can't happen, then there is nothing else to do but accept that this country is not ready for a man with the greatness and foresight that Barack Obama represents. If that is the case, then SO BE IT.

The days leading up to the crucial Texas and Ohio primaries have been full of questions and scrutiny for Barack Obama.

First, there are his ties to Chicago businessman Tony Rezko who’s now on trial for political corruption. Obama isn’t implicated in the case at all, but Rezko contributed 150-thousand dollars over the years to Obama’s campaigns, money Obama says has since been donated to charity. Rezko also helped him buy a home and sold a strip of land to Obama – a purchase the candidate characterizes as “boneheaded.”

Obama is also denying a report that a senior campaign official assured Canada that the candidate’s tough talk on NAFTA is more about “political positioning.”

The Canadian Embassy has backed up Obama’s version of the meeting, saying that there was no intention to convey that Obama and his campaign were taking different positions on NAFTA in public and private.

But politics is a contact sport, and Hillary Clinton has jumped all over Barack Obama – challenging his credibility and accusing him of deception. It’s interesting when you consider that Obama hasn’t brought up any of the past Clinton scandals during the campaign… you know, all of the stuff that’s part of Clinton’s experience like: Whitewater, Travelgate, Monica Lewinsky and impeachment, renting out the Lincoln bedroom, the loss of the Rose Law Firm billing records for nearly 2 years until they were miraculously found in the White House living quarters, removing files from Vince Foster’s office following his suicide and before investigators could get there.

Maybe it’s been a mistake for Obama to run a campaign about hope and change and not to touch any of this.

Here’s my question to you: How much will Barack Obama’s relationship with Tony Rezko and his adviser’s meeting with a Canadian official about NAFTA hurt his chances today?

What is going on?

What has happened within the last 2 days?? Is it my imagination, or has the News Media turned a flip flop where Obama is concerned? All of the sudden they barely cover Senator Obama, but are giving Hillary all kinds of time. On top of that they seem to be literally bombarding him with negative comments concerning the NAFTA charge as well as the Tony Resco thing. Both of those charges are NOT TRUE, and they know it. But still they keep harping on it.

As I said, what is going on and why is this happening? I am sick and tired of the "Telephone Call at 3 am", as well as Hillary all over the place. I finally just turned off the TV.

What are you picking up on? By the way I did write Wolf Blitzer and gave him a piece of my mind and used Hillary's famous line, "Shame On You". I doubt if he even reads it.

Yes, I am excited about Tuesday, but I am also nervous (just like I was the last time). I really will be glad when Hillary is out of the picture and it is just Barack and McCain.

By the way, did any of you see the "Life Stories" of Barack, Hillary and McCain on TV yesterday afternoon and evening? They were all very interesting, but the one about Hillary gave me a much better insight as to why she is the way she is. Actually, I found myself softening a little toward her. She has really had a big "row to hoe" living with Bill. I always suspected, but now really believe, that she thinks Bill "owes" her the White House. that is why it will be exceptionally hard for her to give up. She probably also has a desire to make a difference in the lives of others, but I don't see that as her overiding goal like it is for Obama.

Barack's whole purpose is be an agent of change for the good of all. His is a "calling", rather like a minister or priest, etc. He is definitely on a mission.

I really had begun to think that if Hillary didn't win Texas and Ohio, she would bow out gracefully. I no longer believe that. I am now thinking that she will be like the Vaudeville act that requires a guy behing the curtain using a "hook" to pull off the reluctant "entertainer". Poor Hillary. She is having a hard time facing facts.

Now there are those who want to imply that Obama's momentum cannot be sustained through the next few months. I can't believe the numbr of "nay sayers" out there. Only Obama is on to what it means to face life with a positive attitude. In case there are those who wonder what is appealing about Senator Obama, they should take a second look at their attitude.

Here we go again. RALPH NADER has announced he's running for president. I wonder if Al Gore will go public with some kind of scolding in order to rally the Democrats to ignore Nader's efforts. Then too, I wonder if it will be necessary. Any democrat that I talk to has very little use for good ole' Ralph.

I watched Ralph and Tim Russert exchange comments this morning, and must admit that Ralph makes some rational and realistic arguments. But, he is without any support to speak of and the only thing he is going to do is become a "spoiler" once again. He had apparently called Obama and according to what Barack had to say, Nader pretty much is not open to any suggestion from anyone else. He believes that only HE knows the answers (rather like Hillary). So, I don't look for him to do much damage.

Just when I thought she had done herself proud at the end of the Debate, she turns around today and pulled a dandy. This business with handouts literally threw me. I know Barack's campaign was not giving out information that was false. Like he said when they interviewed him, all of the information was accurate. She was supportive of NAFTA before she started running for President. And she did admit that the few who refused to buy health insurance would be penilized in some manner. I remember when that came up at a debate and she admitted it. So she needn't bother denying it to me. I know better.

What really threw me though was how angry she got when she was talking and shaking the flyers. Man, if she can't control herself any better than that now when she is just running for a nomination, what would she do if a crisis broke out when she was president? What if a leader of another country said something to offend her? Would she start hollering and blowing a gasket? What kind of leadership is that? Did you notice how calm and presidential Obama was? Did you notice the difference between the two of them?

As I said before, Hillary Blew it again......

Hi Alex,

You must have more time than I do to take so much time explaining the Constitution. Good for you. But I do want to make a comment. While I'm sure you have only good intentions when you go into the meaning and intent of the Constitution, (for Obama's benefit, I guess), just wanted to say that Barack Obama TAUGHT Constitutional Law before he ever ran for Illinois Senator. So I imagine he is pretty much up to snuff on the subject.

Now, if it was for the benefit of someone like me, I do thank you and applaud your knowledge, but honestly Alex, it is just too much for me to digest in one setting. It will take some time for me to take it all in.

By the way, what did you think of the Debate? I thought Obama was awesome!!! Hillary did herself proud when she responded to the Question at the end. She made up for some of her earlier comments when she tried to make Obama look bad. They didn't work and she got booed for it. Overall though, it was a good and informative Debate. Hillary didn't gain any ground, as far as I am concerned, and I'm getting the feeling she is on the verge of dropping out. I suspect she will if she doesn't do well in Ohio and Texas. We'll see. Obama won!

It just so happens that I signed on to Hillary's web-site in order to get a clue how she was operating. Well, this morning her campaign is making the most our of her final "speech" at the conclusion of the Debate. Not only did I get a letter from her campaign manager commenting on her "defining moment", but it included a Link to the the remarks, as well as picture after picture on the right hand side of her home page with "touching" moments of her and different voters. Believe me, they are taking full advantage of the situation.

If it hadn't been for all of the above efforts I described, I might have taken the bait and been pursuaded to believe her. Wow, am I easily suckered!!! I think, now, that the whole thing was carefully calculated when she realized during the debate that she had not made many brownie points and Barack was probably going to win. I think she would be satisfied with VP now if she doesn't pull ahead. Just hope Obama doesn't ask her.....

She has indeed been introduced to what humility is all about, but her armour is pretty thick. I think what she went through with the whole Monica thing is probably what motivates and protects her. She uses it quite well to her advantage. I further believe that she feels Bill owes her big time and she is going to collect. If you think about it, the two times she has come across with strong appealing feminine emotions is when her back was against the wall, and she came face to face with the formidable strength of her opponent. She probably rallied some of the women supporters after her "impressive" speech and compliment to Barack. But it didn't mean she was going to "save the day" for her campaign.

I'll give her that moment at the end and am glad she had the courage to give it one last shot. I certainly don't believe in knocking a person when they're down. It's much better to be the bigger person, and shake their hand like Barack did.

The important thing is, Barack was Presidential throughout the whole Debate. I was so proud of him, and its great to be supporting a winning candidate. Can't wait to see him take the oath of office of the President of the United States.

A lesson in Humility.

Well, it's made the morning news with Candy Croley and John Roberts. It all started from Hillary's camp, went directly to Wolf Blitzer and of course he passed it on to Lou Dobbs. It's making the rounds. "Words, Just Words". Just how big of an issue is that between two friends who probably think alike on most things? Give me a break, Please. I'm have a hard time digesting this latest case of desperation on Hillary's part. But I'll try. I am taking a big breath, counting to 10 and have decided to feel sorry for all of them.

First, I feel sorry for poor Lou, because I just know he feels neglected over the fact that no one tried (in a serious manner) to draft him to run for president on the Independent ticket. Next, I feel sorry for Wolf, because he is worried that he might be losing the game he plays with everybody, called, "Gotcha". I'll bet he has lost sleep at night trying to come up with little mean tricks to use to catch someone doing or saying something questionable. Then comes Hillary, most of my pity goes to her because it's tough to know you're up against someone you're afraid of. And she is afraid of Barack. that is why she is acting out in desperation.

O K, As for CNN, the only person I REALLY respect, (please notice I put "really "in caps, so you would notice. If you're wondering why, just wait until Lou Dobbs remark about Michele hits the news next. Hopefully it won't), is Jack Cafferty. He is a man after my own heart. Like the star of Dragnet, "Just the facts Mam, just the facts", he doesn't waste words. He tells it like it is. But, even though he doesn't mind letting everyone know just how bad everyone is, he also is not beyond laughing at himself. (I like that about a person). He knows he isn't perfect, and he seems to be quite honest, so as a result it would be hard to insult him. I'll bet the man is truly humble and just simply loses patience with those who aren't. He has no aspirations to be President, so he doesn't worry about what others think. He probably just worries he doesn't lose his job over being too frank..ha

On the other hand, take a good look at our man, Barack. He is loaded with humility, and at the same time a sense of confidence, along with an intelligent mind and moral character which is what makes him a leader easy to believe in, and follow. He is, by nature, a leader. In fact, I believe that he has what one might call a "Calling", and is truly on a mission. that is why his candidacy has taken on what is referred to as a "Movement", because that is what it REALLY is. (There's that word again). It's very difficult to cope with a movement if you're trying to stop it. And that is why I feel sorry for Hillary. She will continue to try, even at her own peril. It's too bad she doesn't have any natural humility. Guess she'll just have to learn it the hard way. Poor thing

I think I've finally got it, finally understand the Super delegate thing

I watched Tim Russert on Meet The Press this morning. (I really like that man). Tim always impresses me with his thoroughly professional manner, and "stick to the topic" approach. He doesn't let much get past him.

Anyhow, the subject of the Super Delegates came up with Dick Durbin and (can't think of the guy's name) a representative from Hillary's camp. ( I know he was a Super Delegate and was rooming with Dick Durbin.) Nevertheless, they were discussing what should be or should not be done with respect to Florida and Michigan, as well as the role the Super Delegates would play if a candidate hadn't been selected by June. (By the way, Hillary's fight to seat the Florida and MIchigan delegates regardless of the rules laid down prior to their Primary says a lot about her character)

It all has to do with the saying,"Give them and inch and they'll take a mile". That is what is happening with the Super Delegates. They are the "Inch" provided by the Democratic Party to ensure that the Democratic Party stays in tact without being taken over by some "Left or Right Wing group". They were given the liberty to vote their conscience in order to ensure that. But, it appears that Hillary wants to use them to ensure she is given the Presidency even if she is not the choice of the people. So, it all depends on just how many of the Super Delegates are people of honor and moral character. It will be an interesting test indeed, should it come down to their decision.

I believe that fair play is just that, Fair Play. If Obama is able to get everyone to play fair BEFORE he is elected, then the rest should be a piece of cake. We'll see....

The Power of Words

I am surprised at Hillary making the statement she did regarding "words accomplishing nothing". I don't believe she had given much thought to what she was saying or she certainly would not have made such a foolish remark.

When I think of the POWER of the words,"I love you", and how those words can move a person, and better yet ,a people, to "be" and "do" better things than they realized, I am in awe of what those words can accomplish.

On the other hand, take the WORDS, "I hate you", said to another individual and observe how those words can affect that person's self image which in turn affects their behavior toward others. We are ALL moved in some manner or fashion by what we hear, and see around us. But the strongest influence are those WORDS which reach our most inner self and cause us to take action of some kind, either positive or negative.

I do believe that Barack Obama is one of those kind of leaders, that takes the Power of Words to lift us up and out of a certain apathy, regarding how we feel about our circumstances in this society. This kind of leadership is rare, and comes along usually once in a person's lifetime. He has a gift and he is using it for good. He is bringing a positive message. He is empowering us, the people, to rise up and take control of our lives, simply with his oratorical skills, using WORDS. What more can be said about how important words can be and what power they possess?

When we say, "Yes we can", "Yes we can", we are lifted up, and we believe in ourselves, and frankly, that is what this whole movement is about. Poor Hillary, she just doesn't get it.

Rather quiet on the Homefront

Not much happening on the Web-site or TV today. the news is full of the tragedy in northern Illinois with the shooter at the Collge University. It is so hard to hear about such things, and it seems like they happen with such frequency anymore. Frankly, I have lost track of the times and numbers of lives lost due to someone who was dealing with a mental health problem over the last few years. Am not sure if more gun control is called for, or some method of monitoring those with mental health issues and keeping guns out of their possession.

Regarding the election, I think Mike Huckabee is a hoot. That guy just won't give up. I know he is a thorn in McCain's side, and I love it. But it looks like McCain is starting to ignore him. I know the News Media is not giving Huckabee much coverage, so that says a lot.

Concerning our guy and Hillary, the jabs and insults by Hillary have started again. Barack refers to some of her comments as "silly". I agree. Guess we'll have to watch 2 more debates with the first one this coming Thursday. I get nervous when I think of it. I just will not relax until he is far enough ahead that she has no chance of catching up...ha ha

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (AP) -- Gov. Ed Rendell, one of Hillary Rodham Clinton's most visible supporters, said some white Pennsylvanians are likely to vote against her rival Barack Obama because he is black.

Gov. Ed Rendell: "...there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American...."

"You've got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate," Rendell told the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in remarks that appeared in Tuesday's paper.

To buttress his point, Rendell cited his 2006 re-election campaign, in which he defeated Republican challenger Lynn Swann, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star, by a margin of more than 60 percent to less than 40 percent.

"I believe, looking at the returns in my election, that had Lynn Swann been the identical candidate that he was -- well-spoken, charismatic, good-looking -- but white instead of black, instead of winning by 22 points, I would have won by 17 or so," he said. "And that (attitude) exists. But on the other hand, that is counterbalanced by Obama's ability to bring new voters into the electoral pool."

Rendell, chairman of the Democratic National Committee in 2000 and previously Philadelphia's mayor, endorsed Clinton on January 23.

Pennsylvania holds its primary April 22.

Several figures in Clinton's campaign, including her husband, the former president, have been criticized in recent weeks for raising Obama's race. In response, Bill Clinton has said he will stick to promoting his wife, rather than defending her.

Later Tuesday, Rendell's spokesman said the governor did not mean to offend anyone.

"He was simply making an observation about the unfortunate nature of some parts of American society," said spokesman Chuck Ardo. "He wasn't being critical, he wasn't making accusations, but just being realistic." E-mail to a friend

I am looking at the white snow out of my window as I sit here at my computer. If I turn in the other direction I can see Wolf Blitzer declaring the polls will be closed in a couple of hours. Then Jack Cafferty comes on and asks the question, "If Obama sweeps the next states coming up in February, is that the end of Hillary Clinton's race to the White House"?

Hillary is already on her way to Texas, so she must have already decided that the Latinoes in Texas will carry her to her prize. She has to win Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. BUT IT SEEMS THAT OBAMA is picking up voters in Texas also. We'll see.......

Anyhow, it would seem that we are heading to the finish line, with the wind behind Obama's back. I sense a victory in the near future!!!!! Go Barack Go!!!!

Iraq Refugees

I just read Marion Young's Post about the Iraq refugees and frankly, I am astounded and quite ashamed of myself that I haven't given them enough serious consideration. How has that escaped the News on CNN and FOX? Why isn't more attention being paid to their plight? Is it because there is so much disregard for human life around the world that it is hard to keep up?

Israel and Palestine, as well as what happens in Iraq proper, seem to consume the news, with a little bit of Darfur thrown in for good measure. Just where have I been that I have missed the mis-placed Iraqi people. I recall seeing news about their exodus some time ago, but where are they now? And I surely didn't realize there were 300,00 of them

Certainly, serious Christians, and those who proclaim the rights of all to live freely in their own land without "occupation" of outsiders, could not agree with driving a people out of their own country to live and beg for space from their neighbors. Certainly we, the greatest Nation in the Free World, would not do such a thing. Who gives us the right to tell everyone else how to live.

We were justified to go into Afghanistan in search of those who invaded our country on 9/11. But when we chose to invade elsewhere with the flimsiest of excuses, we did indeed run the Iraqi people from their homeland, and it is our responsibility to own up to it and make things right.

Barack Obama is the ONLY candidate with a "clean slate" on the war, and is in a position to debate the matter and go forward to correct things. He is the solution we need. The end of this election cannot come too soon for me.

I discovered today that I can get yesterday's news items that I missed, or that I might want to see over, on C-SPAN. For example, I watched speeches by Hillary and Barack today that they had given yesterday in anticipation of the vote tomorrow. I had seen most of Barack's before, but had totally missed Hillary's. What a difference. She truly lacks the oratorical skills of Obama. She does do a good job of explaining how her plans work, etc. But it gets a little redundant after a while. And when she tries to sound exciting (like Obama) she comes across so phony. She just can't help it. The sincerity and warmth just isn't there. You know, their programs are not all that different it seems. So, It just blows me away that anyone would prefer to vote for her over Barack Obama. Just cannot understand it.

I didn't mean to go on so much in the negative about her...sorry. The point I wanted to make was, if you've missed something on regular TV News (CNN or FOX), try C-SPAN. You just might get lucky....

Hillary's "Managing" skills ????

Well, I have been monitoring the race in Maine and I see Obama is well ahead. It looks like he is going to carry Maine. Bingo. another one in our corner.

But, while Candy and others were chit chatting I flipped over to Fox and they were talking about reports that there was some type upset in the Hillary camp, and John Edwards had been meeting with HIllary and Obama was supposed to meet with Edwards tomorrow. (Gossip, Gossip). Anyhow, this is the second time that there has been an upset in the Clinton Camp. Apparently, they changed the leadership at the top level, I guess.

My point is, if she can't handle the people working under her at this level, how does she expect to manage her staff at the White House? She keeps telling us how well organized she is and how she will be ready on DAY ONE. Then top that with the fact she had to loan her campaign 5 million dollars and one has to question where she is coming from. Anyhow, I certainly question her "managing skills". How about you??

We are on our way. Or should I say Barack Obama is on his way?!!!! Ah Sweet Victory, I can almost taste it. But there are still a few hurdles ahead.

Certainly the Democratic National Party will not allow Hillary to pull a fast one regarding the Florida and Michigan voting procedure?? I will definitely depart from the party if Hillary gets a win as a result. I have signed the petition passed around and hope it gets the message to them loud and clear.

I just wish we were using the old fashioned method where the Popular Vote is what determined who won. But of course there are those in power who have to complicate things and make it easier for them to manipulate the system. Because that is precisely what is happening. Barack needs to get far enough ahead so they can't do that.

Hillary's latest scheme.

I just read on the CNN Political ticker that Hillary loaned herself $5 million in January. Frankly, I was quite surprised. If that's the case, then she must be hurting for money. That's good for our side. It just blows me away that Obama received $32 million in one month. Yey!!! When you consider that there are 700,000 of us and if we each give $25, that translates into $17,500,000.00. So, $50 a month would cover $32 million quite easily. We can do that if it's necessary. Right???

Anyhow, that is where my mind went when I read about Hillary running out of money. That is why she wants to debate Obama weekly. She can't afford to buy time on TV, so she wants to drag Obama into some more debates, thinking she can help herself and not spend any money. I think Obama would be better off to buy some time on TV and use it to "talk" to the American people explaining his plans as President, etc. I wouldn't allow her to use him. they've debated enough as far as I'm concerned.

Although, I have been noticing that Illinois is 59% for Obama and 24% for Clinton. I do know that of the phone calls I made in my area, Obama was overwhelmingly ahead. So, I can get a good nights sleep tonight. He is definitely on the move and will eventually overtake her, I'm sure!!

Looking for HELP

I have been looking for the speech that Obama made when he addressed the issue of him being a Muslim and taking the oath of office on the Koran.

I have a neighbor who has heard this and is allowing it to hinder her voting for Barack. She chooses to not believe what I said about it being not true. But did say if she had another source also, then she would reconsider her vote.

I saw him discuss that issue and also the one about him refusing to do the Pledge, but cannot find it on the Web-site. If anybody can send it to me so I can forward it on, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Back On Line

I finally have a new computer. My other one crashed a week ago and I have been, frankly, quite beside myself!! I did manage to do a few things productive though. Did some phone banking here at home for a couple of days. Called a few friends in Glasford to remind them of the early Primary also. I will say that all of the people I called in the Glasford area, it looks real good. Those who are for Obama are REALLY for him. Such enthusiasm!! And Most are Obama supporters.

Regarding the Debate the other night, I was glad to see both Obama and Hillary appear to be quite congenial. He comes across as such a gentleman which is very impressive. Wolf would have liked to have seen them go at it, I know. It is true that the Media is responsible for most of the controversy. But, finally, Hillary has gotten wise and realizes that she will be held responsible, not Barack. After all, she and Bill did start it. It is probably the way they have gotten used to campaigning in the past, so second nature came to the forefront. We have never had someone like Obama since I can remember. He is a whole new "lesson" in politics, and I just love it!!!!

Can't wait until tomorrow to see the 3 "girls" (Michele, Oprah and Caroline) together!! It should be very entertaining and helpful!!!

I sent a letter to the Obama Campaign expressing many of the concerns you have mentioned and got this back in response. What do you think?????

This is an aspect of modern politics that understandably troubles many voters, and I take your comments seriously. In the final stage of the primary campaign, candidates are seeking to contrast their positions and public record with those of their opponents. That is not only legitimate public discourse, it helps individual voters decide which candidate best reflects their aspirations for the country. There is a distinction, however, between laying out differences between you and your opponents and “attacking” them personally. I have no interest in crossing that line. But, in my view, pointing out inconsistencies in terms of how people present themselves now versus what they were talking about years before is fair in a campaign with consequences of this magnitude. We owe it to our country and our Party to put forward the best presidential nominee possible. And to do that, every candidate must be tested. They must answer tough questions, and tell the American people what they believe, even when it’s not the easiest thing to do politically. If we nominate a candidate who won’t explain his or her positions or can’t defend their record, that person will have a very difficult time against the Republican nominee. Democrats need to present the American people with a fresh start and a clear choice next November. We simply must overcome the low down tactics of the Clintons. I received this procedure of how to effectively debate by a new member on this Web-site. Here it is for your perusal:

"Too much fight can be overwhelming. You should struck in quick one-two and then step back. Against a diabolical contender you should be level headed and cool. Just raise a well-placed question calmly, and then simply don't care about the answer. Yes, an accusation will fly back, so what?

Go to your next hard question. Calm and cool, and the next and the next. You will set the theme and the press cannot do anything but follow. This is very effective and suits the present media environment.

Ask about the coincidences of the many Clinton staffers suicides. Don't dwell on it, just strike.

A strong question about the Wal-mart board. Then step back.

A strong question about closing voting venues half time in NV. Then step back.

I did send this on to the Campaign headquarters, as well as a letter to the Democratic Headquarters. In the letter to the Democratic Headquarters, I did chastize Howard Dean for not exercising his authority in reigning in the former president, Bill Clinton. I think it is a total lack of responsibility on Dean's part to let this whole thing get so out of hand. It doesn't bode well for the Democrats at all.

I am sure that Hillary cannot win the general election. If she should get the nomination, never fear, the Republicans will hold the White House again. I personally know of no one who will vote for her. They would rather see Romney or McCain elected. So, it's a sad situation if we give up. We have a responsibility and a BIG stake in this whole thing. Yes, Obama should stay above the fray, but we don't have to.

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD. Please BOMBARD the Democratic party with your concerns, as well as BOMBARD campaign headquarters with your voice of support and donations. Encourage Obama to buy one half or one hour TV time to sell his programs and address any concerns that voters might have.

Enough is Enough Already !!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I guess I have seen enough of the "back and forth" between Hillary and Barack. I do believe he's countered her charges and now it's time to get back on track and become the "old" Barack that I like so much. I love his dignified and above the fray approach to everything. The Clinton's may like to yell and shout and make wild charges and behave like bratty kids, but our man is too good for that. So, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee put a stop to it.

If I were Barack I would not REPEAT any more charges against her, nor would I defend or explain any of her charges more than once. If something comes up that has already been answered or explained, then I would simply say, "That's been dealt with, now let's move on", and then move on. Simply ignore her. If she wants to act like a spoiled child, treat her like one. Certainly people will soon catch on to her tactics and ignore her too.

I think that Barack needs to really get with the nitty gritty of the issues, and be sure that everyone understands that he has the answers to the problems we face, and is offering realistic solutions. There is no doubt that the Press is loving every minute of their dispute, and do what they can to encourage it. But we just can't continue to let them prolong it.

As for Bill Clinton, it's time to ignore him too. Try a little humor....Whenever Bill says something disparaging, pass it off with something light hearted and simply dismiss him as though he isn't worth paying any attention to. In fact, there was a time when Barack was doing just that. I remember when he was joking about it all. When did it take a turn to the serious?

I have heard the news Commentators say that the Clintons have succeeded in getting Barack off his message and pulled him down in the "Mud " with them. We can't have that!! Senator Obama needs to get back on track and stay there...............................Anyhow, that's what I think.

It's time to get a good night's sleep, now that I've got that off my chest.

A Leap of Faith

I have been busy browsing your blogs and different links, trying to find something to "lift me up", and it worked. How grand it is to know that there are wiser and greater minds than mine with which to examine an issue. So, I am passing this on in order to clarify what I see as a light bulb going off in my head.

Sal Anthony clears up the muddle we find ourselves in when we try to clarify and/or explain which is more important, Experience or Judgement, when evaluating the more important qualification for the President of the United States. It can get quite complicated, and in the end there doesn't seem to be a clear cut answer after all. I see it as an exercise in FOLLY, with a slight advantage given to JUDGEMENT. But, in the final analysis, what's required is a "Leap of Faith" by everyone. I put my trust in Barack Obama from the outset, which included my faith in him, therefore, since he has chosen to enter the fray and tackle the "hard stuff" that goes with it, I will trust his judgement and quit complaining. (But, is it OK if I close my eyes sometimes?)

What seems clear is that a leap of faith is involved, from the candidates when they enter the fray, from the people when they enter the voting booth, and from the eventual winner when he or she enters the Oval Office."

Well, it finally happened. I suppose it was inevitable. I recall thinking (quite a while back) that I wished Obama would retalliate firmly each time Hillary said something nasty. I also remember thinking that Obama should also tell Bill clinton to get a life and get lost. Well, it just goes to show, "Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it".

So, how do I feel this morning? Sick at my stomach. Deeply concerned at what will happen next. Frankly, I don't like "Ugly". And last night's performance was Ugly, but probably inevitable. How I wish it didn't have to be. I am so afraid that the perception of our candidate may be tarnished by the whole thing, and John Edwards end up being the recipient. But, I am more inclined to believe that Hillary's strong base which gave her a head start in the beginning is just going to rear its ugly head in the form of Bill Clinton (and his economic record) and carry her off to the nomination. In other words, I am seeing Obama being surrounded by Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and a Clinton machine that has been in existence for years.

I will say this. if Senator Obama can pull off a nomination, now that we have a clearer picture of what he is facing, we will, indeed, have witnessed one of the biggest coups in history. I am still hopeful, and praying fervently, for Obama's success. I will continue to do all I can to bring it about, but truthfully, some of the wind has been taken out of my sails.

Now is the time to turn a page in history that will be like no other. Goodbye Nevada...Too bad you didn't jump at the opportunity to support the best person on the slate for the job of President of the United States.. It's your loss!!!

I do believe I'll junk my TV and start off with a new one. Maybe I'll have better luck. What do you think? lol.. I just watched a breakdown on CNN of who voted for who. As I thought, the Latino vote went strongly for Clinton. There is definitely a rift between the Latinos and Black America. By the same token, Obama got the major portion of the Black vote. I was relieved to see that.

It should be noted that there are a LOT of Latinos in California. I do hope we have a huge grass roots effort to reach those people. Wolf commented on the fact that Hillary's "machine" was well in place in Nevada before Obama's group got there. Not sure if he knows what he is talking about or not.

Well, I've been watching the results on CNN and FOX NEWS, and wouldn't you kow, FOX declared Romney the winner in Nevada with only 1 per cent of the votes in. Next came the Assoc. Press with the same prediction. At least CNN waited another 45 minutes before they agreed. So, Mitt Romney is now the winner on the Republican side.

So, if things go as they are now projecting, Hillary will handily win on the Democratic side. It appears, according to Wolf Blitzer and the rest of the crew, Fox News included, that even though Obama got the endorsement of the main Union, the members are going to go with Hillary.

I'm going to step out on the limb and say why I think Barack loses the Latino vote, if indeed that is what happens. If I'm not mistaken, I heard a long time ago that there was friction between the Black Americans and the Latino's due to resentment regarding job loss. If that is true, then that explains why they would not view the election of an African American President as someone who would be sympathetic to their particular situation. If there is someone out there who knows better, or who better understands the relationship between the two, please enlighten me!!!

Anyhow, I have resigned myself to accepting a Nevada loss, fully believing that Obama has South Carolina in his hip pocket...

I don't meant to convey a fatalistic attitude, but I am just not hearing anything positive coming out of that stupid TV regarding our candidate. I'm about ready to prepare it for the junk yard. Although, not sure I could afford another one.....HELP!!!!

Barack Obama has stepped up his campaign against Hillary Rodham Clinton, and he's trying to use humor to bring her down before this weekend's Democratic presidential caucus.

His argument is starkly different from the "Iowa nice" approach he used in recent weeks when campaigning in the first caucus state. Candidates who go negative there have a history of
turning off voters, so Obama rarely criticized Clinton directly in Iowa — instead he made veiled references to "some of my opponents" — and he won the state.

But there's nothing subtle about Las Vegas. With a high-stake match on the line Saturday, Obama embraced local traditions by debuting a biting political standup routine Thursday night that mocked his rival.

Obama began by recalling a moment in Tuesday night's debate when he and his rivals were asked to name their biggest weakness. Obama answered first, saying he has a messy desk and needs help managing paperwork — something his opponents have since used to suggest he's not up to managing the country. Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards said his biggest weakness is that he has a powerful response to seeing pain in others, and Clinton said she gets impatient to bring change to America.

"Because I'm an ordinary person, I thought that they meant, `What's your biggest weakness?"' Obama said to laughter from a packed house at Rancho High School. "If I had gone last I would have known what the game was. And then I could have said, `Well, ya know, I like to help old ladies across the street. Sometimes they don't want to be helped. It's terrible."'

"Folks, they don't tell you what they mean!" he said. Obama chuckled at his own joke before riffing on another Clinton answer in the debate, when she said that she is happy that the bankruptcy bill she voted for in 2001 never became law.

"She says, 'I voted for it but I was glad to see that it didn't pass.' What does that mean?" he asked, again drawing laughter from the crowd and himself. "No seriously, what does that mean? If you didn't want to see it passed, then you can vote against it! People don't say what they mean.

"You know what I'm saying is true," he said, then addressed his routine directly at audience members who don't know who they will vote for yet. "Undecideds, remember now, remember what I'm saying."

He continued by responding to a new Clinton radio ad that accused him of having financial ties to supporters of the proposed Yucca Mountain nuclear waste site that most Nevadans are loath to come to their state.

"I have said over and over again I'm against Yucca," Obama said. "I'm against Yucca Mountain. I think the science is not there. I've never, I've never been for Yucca. Never been for it. Never said I was for it.

"Suddenly you've got the Clinton camp out there saying, `He's for Yucca.' What part of I'm not for Yucca do you not understand?" he said, then laughed along with his audience.

As the laughter subsided, Obama drove home the broader point he's been trying to make against Clinton the entire campaign.

"Those kinds of tricks, that kind of approach to politics is what has to stop because what happens is then nobody believes anything," Obama said. "The voters don't believe what politicians say. They get cynical. Folks in Congress, they'll tell you they're looking out for you — they're looking out for somebody else. We have to change that politics and that's why I'm running for president."

The Clinton campaign did not respond to a request for comment on Obama's new act.

The above article was in today's CNN Political Ticker. I just never cease to be amazed how well the Senator handles criticism....There really isn't too much need for us to come up with anything new. I'm content to simply pass on what he says.

I can't help but feel a need to address the latest charge concerning Senator Obama's management style he will use as President of the United State. He jokenly referred to his "messy desk", and relying on staff to keep track of "stuff". While there are those who MUST have "hands on" in order to make sure that staff do EXACTLY as they are told.

Well, let me tell you something. I have worked for both types, and the "Hands On" person was pretty close to being a tyrant on the job. Most everyone walked on tippy toes,and was afraid to express an opinion, and heaven forbid that they make a mistake. The tendency was to try and cover it up rather than "fess up" for fear of losing their job. The general tone in the office was one of discomfort and looking forward to the days the "boss" was not in. There absoluely was NOT an atmosphere of teamwork. It was more of everyone trying to take care of "Number one".

On the other hand, the job I held where the Boss delegated responsibility, and allowed all to be a part of the "Team" by expressing confidence in their abilities, as well as trusting the employees to do their job generated a great deal more respect and desire to do a good job. He held regular meetings with staff to update on progress, and had an "open door" policy for all who felt a need to seek his advice or approval. I loved that job and it shaped my views on which management style was most impressive to me. When I heard Obama describe how he would function as President, a green light went off in my head and I just knew that he was "The Man" for sure.

I would love to send a letter to the Editor of the Nevada newspapers, but I wasa told at our last organizational meeting that the Campaign Committee closed off that section because of contacts that they didn't want to hear from. Am not sure what that is all about....

Anyhow, if any of you have been exposed to both styles of management, perhaps you could express how you feel. If you agree with me, perhaps we should all send letters to the South Carolina Editors, etc. What do you think?

Hi out there,

Hope all is well with you this morning. I just saw on CNN where Obama is pulling up real close to Hillary in the National polls. Good News! I did do some surfing on the Web-site and read several Blogs. Some were encouraging and some were worrisome. The one which was most uplifting came from Nevada. It was loaded with good news. I especially liked seeing all of the happy faces and reading about the plans and excitement of preparing for a victory in Nevada. Sure made me want to be there. But we're having our own get together tonight in Peoria to make plans in anticipation of the big event called Super Tuesday. I'm fired up and ready to go.

But I just can't let a certain issue go by without addressing it in some fashion. The latest remark coming from the Clinton's got my dandruff up. When I saw B. Clinton pointing his finger, as he attempted to dis-credit Senator Obama's record on the Iraq war, reminded me of his skill at distorting the truth. Add to that the remarks by Hillary concerning MLK and JFk was really the last straw. But rather than go on a big tirade, I pulled up a video I have of a comedian named Frank. I wish I could forward it to this web-site but it isn't set up that way. In the video, "Frank" imitates Pres. Bush and B. Clinton and he is really a Hoot. Regarding Clinton he comments about his skill at distorting the truth and mis-representing the facts. For example, Frank says, Bill Clinton could look you in the eye and say, "I AM NOT HERE". AFTER ALL, HERE, IS ONLY THERE, WITHOUT A T". ( Case closed. ) Incase you didn't get the humor, you would probably have to see the guy perfom it. Believe me, it's a riot. I always get a good belly laugh when I watch that video.

The point I am making is, this race to the White House is not going to be easy. I'm expecting many bumps along the way. The best way I know to cope with false accusations and mis-information. is to kind of follow Senator Obama's lead. Stay on message, reply with the facts and stay above the fray (when we can)...I am convinced that when this whole race is over, we will be shouting

I watched Hillary's interview this morning with Tim Russert, and am now attempting to assess how I feel about the whole thing. As an Obama supporter, I can definitely pick it apart and be critical. But, I need to ask myself, "how might the uncommited voter look at it". It's hard to be objective, but I'm going to give it an all American try.

First of all, one thing she demonstrated is her command of the "specifics". She is a whiz at details. I suspect she is a real "hands on" person, which suggests she might be a "Control Freak". Of course, it may also mean that she has been around long enough to have acquired a mountain of information which she is able to recall on demand... Not sure, but when she got into the subject of house mortgages, she got my attention because it is an important issue right now. The housing industry is undergoing hard times. I probably can relate to that because my daughter-in-law is a Real Estate Agent. By the way, I visited Hillary's web-site and was impressed by the "pretty colors" and figures, etc. they used, for what that is worth. Guess I could give her a plus for that.

Secondly, if she said once, she said, "let's keep that in contex", at least 25 times, it seemed. She had a real problem owning up to her original vote as being a Bad thing. In fact, that is one of the things I do hope the average voter will pay close attention to. She is a person, like George Bush, who just refuses to admit making a mistake. She generalizes and justifies her decisions as being the thing to do at the time. For some reason, her skill with specifics seems to go out the window when she is asked to clarify "Why" on wrong decisions. In fact, I don't believe she ever did own up to making a wrong decision. She would say instead, I made those decisions because "that is who I am".

Thirdly, When Tim asked her about the general consensus that Obama is more likely to unite the country than her, she simply went into her record again of all of her accomplishments. By that time, it was starting to sound like a broken record.

Anyhow, when it was over, I concluded that the only thing she had going for her, which may influence a non-commited voter, might be her ability to discuss details of what she plans to do as president if she is elected. So, if I were to suggest anything to Senator Obama, is "Please be more specific on your plans".. I wouldn't even bother to comment if Obama's electiion weren't so important to me.

By the way, in reference to Barack's Iraq quote from 2004, the media HAS brought it up. Tim Russert mentioned it on Meet the Press in November. If Clinton was being honest, he would have mentioned Barack's sentence in context.

Barack Obama ACTUALLY SAID in 2004: "I'm not privy to Senate intelligence reports. … What would I have done? I don't know. What I know is that from my vantage point the case [for authorizing the war] was not made."
