This article contains brief bios of "Obama's Inner Circle" - core campaign staff, and advisors on economy, national security, justice/legal, immigration, health care, environment. Some Cabinet Secretaries may come from this group, but certainly they will be shaping the final list of appointments. There are several levels of appointments that require Senate confirmation, and there are also advisory positions, like Chief of Staff and Press Secretary, that do not. For all of you fixed on members of congress, please read. It is also highly informative in terms of understanding policy positions.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A controversy over Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's former pastor has not hurt Obama, a new poll found on Thursday, even as more potential trouble surfaced involving his church.

A poll by the Pew Research Center said videos of sermons by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Obama's subsequent speech on race in America last week have attracted more public attention than any events thus far in the 2008 presidential campaign.

The March 19-22 survey of 1,503 American adults found that despite the flap, Illinois Sen. Obama had maintained a 49 percent to 39 percent advantage over New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Things are moving fast on the "do-over" issue and partisans for the Clinton campaign are getting the upper hand on the issue. Granholm, Cris, Rendell, Corzine all support whatever resolution will favor Hillary. Obama supporters are being put in a position to look like we are resisting the enfranchisement of Michigan and Florida voters.

We urgently need to change the dynamic on this. That change is to promote the idea of inviting the Carter Center (http://www.cartercenter.org/homepage.html) to come in and resolve the issue. It is proactive, pro-democratic, and will help assure that the solution does not favor either side.

Learning the lesson of other states, we cannot rely on the campaign for these items, hence my grassroots effort. A little bit about me, I am a regional canvass coordinator and am in close communication with 5 Regional Field Directors, plus the State Coordinator. Over the past week I've recruited over 20 new volunteers, all of whom need pins and stickers. Whatever you send my way will get spread throughout the state. The Road to the White House (Annette)

After last night it is becoming evident that this election will be decided in Denver in Aug. These superdelegates need to made aware what the people want. To get this message across, I believe that we should began to let our voice be heard by going to Denver. We need to start now. Therefore I propose that we start sending out invitations to everyone we know to go with us and be heard. To begin this journey I will create an event to see what respone we will get and build from there. Needless to say there will be a need to book rooms and transportation for all who want to be a part of this historical chapter in our history. I will get in touch with John and the JaxforObama and run this idea by him before creating this as an event. I am urging everone to beging to think about our journey and assist in planning for the road to the White House. The voices of millions declaring "Yes We Can" cannot be ignored. Let me know what you think.

My opinion: It's not as "pie in the sky" or "shooting for the moon" as it might sound at first. However, I'm concerned that we might run out of enough energy to colonize the moon before we even get there again. (Read DieOff.org: http://www.dieoff.org to learn more about Peak Oil). First we've got to work on some more short-term solutions. -- Glenn

One of the easiest and most significant things we can do as individuals to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (or demand for nuclear power) while also saving money in the long run is to replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent ones. Yet in the US, only 11% of households have at least one compact fluorescent bulb installed. Why?

An article today in "USA Today entitled "The shape of lights to come? Not everyone's buying it" explains the consumer (mis) conceptions behind many people's reluctance to make the switch. The article also explains that for most of these objections, for most applications, it is really no longer an issue due to improvements in the technology.

Criteria for reasonable biofuels: Seven points

I think biofuels only makes sense if they are made from non-food sources that are grown in areas unsuitable for food production. I think it's a sin to use up a whole village's worth of food just so that you can keep a Hummer fueled up. Also, the source should yield several times more energy than it takes to produce it. Corn-based ethanol fails badly on all of these criteria.

However, there is another plant that has been with mankind since the beginning that would solve our biofuel needs while at the same time help to solve worldwide hunger and malnutrition.

There was a great article in The New York Times ( http://www.nytimes.com/ ) on January 27, 2008 regarding how worldwide increasing demand for meat production is consuming energy and other resources at an astonishing rate.

It is ironic, and poetic justice, that unnecessary and excessing prodution and slaughter of animals is putting our own survival at risk by depleting our resources and endangering the world environment.

(I originally composed this post (now slightly enhanced) as a comment in the discussion on EnvirObama.com ( http://envirobama.com/ ) entitled "Climate Change" ( http://envirobama.com/2008/02/21/climate-change/ ). A great site, by the way!).

There are many reasons why Barack Obama should reverse his stance on nuclear power and work instead to support alternatives to both fossil fuels and nuclear power. Let's do everything we can to let him know that on this issue, he's just plain wrong.

Nuclear power is not the answer to climate change or cost-efficient job creation. Among other objections, there are six that I consider especially convincing...

If you haven't already heard, Ralph Nader is running for President, again!

That bonehead! He probably blew it for us in 2000 and now he wants to try to do it again?!

Ralph Nader had two excuses for being in the race in 2000:

1. "There wasn't really much difference between Al Gore and George W. Bush anyway -- they were both big-money status-quo corporate pawns." (I used to hear a lot of environmentalist friends of mine parrot this line when saying they were going to vote for Nader, or even not vote at all.)
BUT: I think we all can see now that Gore would have done a lot more for clean sustainable energy and slowing global warming than oil-man Bush! And how many tons of CO2 have been produced just by the Iraq war alone? Not to mention the opportunity cost of at least half a trillion wasted dollars.
AND: This time we clearly do have a viable alternative candidate!

BUT: Nader was wrong. He underestimated the ability of the Bush administration to fear-monger and brain-wash the electorate and to take us into war. We ended up being stuck with Bush for four more years, and even now there are still a lot of folks willing to support war-candidate John McCain.

Michigan and Florida: Do-Over Required

As a Michigan voter, one thing I absolutely do not support is just admitting our delegates on the basis of the sham non-primary for Hillary Clinton that was conducted here.

Michigan voters would not be disenfranchised by not reversing the DNC decision. We were already disenfranchised before stepping into the polling booth.

Barack Obama was not on the ballot, but Clinton was. We were told our delegates would not be counted anyway. So I didn't even vote. I didn't want to vote for "uncommitted", I wanted to vote for Obama.

I'm sure I'm not by any means the only Michigan voter who just boycotted the primary because of these party shenanigans. To consider Clinton's "victory" in our state under such cloudy circumstances to be anything representative of the will of our people is simply ridiculous.

A do-over is required. Otherwise, just don't count our state at all, as they told us would be the case when they conducted the primary. I wouldn't be any angrier at the party than I am already.

I just signed up on BarackObama.com today and already I feel more empowered. I'm impressed by the site's organizing and community-building tools. I almost instantly got new friends.

I had noticed myself becoming increasingly excited over the past several weeks about Obama's campaign, eagerly awaiting each next election results as I listen to NPR, and it finally got to the point where I felt I had to do something.

I've been into nature my whole life, and I've been an environmentalist ever since I knew there was such a thing...I had originally wanted to become a scientist but ended up getting freaked out by how we were abusing technology to destroy the fabric of life, and especially about the prospect of total global annihilation by nuclear weapons... So I ended up working as a peace and environmental activist....I had hoped that we would elect an environmentalist President eight years ago, but a couple of weeks before the "election", I had a nightmare that George W. Bush would win by a margin of one vote, and that as a result of that mere one-vote margin, the man would set into motion a chain of events ultimately culminating in the destruction of the world...

I wanted to share all that background information because it will help you understand why, after feeling rather disheartened, disempowered, and discouraged, although not quite despairing, for some time, how refreshing and revitalizing it is to connect with a political movement I can truly believe in, one that renews my sense of optimism for what we can do as a people when we join together with a vision of a better future.
