President Elect Obam is so idealistic and such a hope-monger that he will surround himself with dangerous people like Hillary Clinton. I bet Hillary will patiently wait for something to happen to Obama. She did not forget about the assassination of Robert Kennedy. Nor does she JFK's. That is why she is happy to be around the President.

I thank Katie Cauric because without her sharp and intelligent interogation of Sahra Palin, the outcome of the election would not have been so decisive. If you read this piece by the New York Times' John Howard, you will know why I say that. I guess Many Republicans stayed home apparently because they were disgusted with thier candidates.

That points to a cautionary reminder for Mr. Obama and his team: the election turned partly on what they did right, but also on what Republicans did wrong. And there is no assurance that Democrats will confront a similarly star-crossed opposition in elections to come.

MY HOLIDAY WITH JOHN McCAIN
It was just before John McCain's last run at the presidential nomination in 2000 that my husband and I vacationed in Turtle Island in Fiji with John McCain, Cindy, and their children, including Bridget (their adopted Bangladeshi child).

It was not our intention, but it was our misfortune, to be in close quarters with John McCain for almost a week, since Turtle Island has a small number of bungalows and their focus on communal meals force all vacationers who are there at the same time to get to know each other intimately.

McCain arrived at our first group meal and started reading quotes from a pile of William Faulkner books with a forest of Post-Its sticking out of them. As an English Literature major myself, my first thought was 'if he likes this so much, why hasn't he memorized any of this yet?'

I soon realized that McCain actually thought we had come on vacation to be a volunteer audience for his 'readings' which then became a regular part of each meal. Out of politeness, none of the vacationers initially protested at this intrusion into their blissful holiday, but people's buttons definitely got pushed as the readings continued day after day.

Unfortunately this was not his only contribution to our mealtime entertainment. He waxed on during one meal about how Indo-Chine women had the best figures and that our American corn-fed women just couldn't meet up to this standard. He also made it a point that all of us should stop Cindy from having dessert as her weight was too high and made a few comments to Amy, the 25 year old wife of the honeymooning couple from Nebraska that she should eat less as she needed to lose weight. McCain's appreciation of the beauty of Asian women was so great that David the American economist had to move his Thai wife to the other side of the table from McCain as McCain kept aggressively flirting with and touching her.

Needless to say I was irritated at his large ego and his rude behavior towards his wife and other women, but decided he must have some redeeming qualities as he had adopted a handicapped child from Bangladesh. I asked him about this one day, and his response was shocking: 'Oh, that was Cindy's idea - I didn't have anything to do with it. She just went and adopted this thing without even asking me. You can't imagine how people stare when I wheel this ugly, black thing around in a shopping cart in Arizona. No, it wasn't my idea at all.'

In one week, Americans will face a momentous choice. We must decide which of two talented, patriotic individuals is better suited to set the course for the nation and steer it through a stormy sea.

I have known John McCain for many years, even before he was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1982. And like so many other television viewers, I have come to know Barack Obama as he has made his spirited quest for the highest office in the land through this long and unprecedented campaign.

Sens. Obama and McCain have vastly different backgrounds and strikingly different visions of how America should navigate these tumultuous times. For me, the decision on who should be the next president transcends private friendship or political affiliation. My decision is based on the long-range needs of our country and which of these two candidates I feel is better suited to recharge America's economic health, restore its prestige abroad and inspire anew all people who cherish freedom and equality. For me, that person is Barack Obama.

This decision, and this hard-fought race, have been difficult for me. In 1860, my great-grandfather ran for the Maryland Senate from Frederick on the anti-slavery Republican ticket. At the top of that ticket was Abraham Lincoln. In 1912, my grandfather rallied to Theodore Roosevelt and the Bull Moose. Most of the Mathias family has voted Republican ever since. In 1964, as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, I astounded many of my friends and supporters by voting for Barry Goldwater, despite disagreeing with many of his views and despite his lack of support in my congressional district. I publicly endorse the Democratic candidate for president with a sense of the historic significance of the choice before us all.

I believe that Obama's inspirational leadership, contemplative nature and well-reasoned, forward-looking policies offer our troubled nation a real opportunity to face and overcome its many challenges at home and abroad.

On an array of domestic issues, including health care, education, tax policy, the environment and alternative energy sources, Obama promises a clean break from the recent past and tangible hope for a return to fiscal responsibility, economic security and true environmental stewardship, all of which are essential to restoring our greatness. Now, Obama must be aware of the hopes that he has raised through his discussion of these issues. Many people will rightly take his words as his commitment and will judge him accordingly.

On the international front, his thoughtful and responsible approach to extricating our troops from Iraq, reallocating our finite resources elsewhere in the war on terrorism, and reviving effective use of our diplomatic corps all warrant our support. To be successful in these endeavors, Obama must be an active student of history. In attempting to bring peace to the Middle East, for example, he should recognize that the United States has played a role in the region since Franklin Roosevelt went to Saudi Arabia to meet with King Abdul-Aziz. Obama must appreciate that he is not writing on an empty page and will need to be sensitive to that which has come before him.

Obama represents the better choice to successfully address the issues that dramatically affect the health and well-being of our nation today. The fact that he is also a black American adds special significance for me as someone who was witness to and participated in at least a part of the past century's discourse on civil rights.

Throughout my career in public office, I was involved in the effort to come to terms with our country's troubled history of race relations. I am proud to have helped enact several of the landmark civil rights laws that have been the cornerstones of our national response to the inequities perpetuated by racism. This is a moment in our national life that could scarcely have been contemplated at the beginning of my career, and one that I believe our country should savor. This election is a milestone in the journey of our society to greater openness and flexibility, qualities that will serve us well as we confront the global challenges of the 21st century.

In these extraordinary times, Barack Obama has made a better case for why he is the right choice for president. He has earned my vote.

Ashley Todd's assault has been confirmed to be a hoax, according to KDKA. Police reportedly admitted Friday the attack was a hoax.

20-year-old Ashley Todd was facing a polygraph test to be administered by officials after claiming she was brutally beaten over her political views.

Ashley Todd, who claimed she was attacked and robbed of $60 at an ATM in the Pittsburgh, Bloomfield area Wednesday night when a '6'4, 200-pound black man' mugged her and discovered she was a McCain/Palin supporter.

According to Todd, the man robbed her at knifepoint before noticing the McCain bumper sticker on her car - triggering him to allegedly begin beating Todd with his hands and feet and carving an odd, backwards "B" on her face with his knife.

The poll shows multiple hurdles are in McCain's way:

And so far, newspapers are reciprocating that lack of love for John McCain.

It seems like this McCain attack with the Ayers connection is more vicious than George Bush's Swiftboat.

I've not heard anthing about Obma's countering this attack. The only thing I've heard so far is his explanation in an interview with Charles Gibson of ABC. Despite that, McCain and his surrogate Palin are still attacking Obama with the same old story.

I am sure they are doing it because it works for them.

How come Obama is not doing anything to counter it?

I think Obama can't attack or even respond to Palin's wild charges for fear that he offend some women voters.

I think this has something do do his personality or even judgement. When a leader is called to act in defence of this nation, he or she has to act forcefully in their best judgement without considering too many angles and complications.

I've sent the message below to more than 45 people on my friends list and only two responded to my message with tepid replies.

It seems to me that I am not the only one who feels betrayed by Obama. Many of his previous supporters are on the sideline disgusted. This is the time to test Obama's judgment. Is he going to be his own man with good gudgement? He may have hard time figuring out what to do with all the conflicting advice from all kinds of people.

Barack Obama announced his candidacy for President because he wanted to become a candidate for change. He wanted to change the corrupt politics of Washington. I supported him for the change he promised despite the insurmountable lack of experience.

Now that he has embraced and even sold out to Hillary Clinton who is the ultimate insider of Washington's corrupt politics, he is no longer able to claim that he is a candidate for change. So he has no messages to sell to the voters.

You might say, "How can you vote for McCain/Palin? So, you think it comes down to choosing the lesser of the two evils? I don't know this kind of argument will win over those people who are still not sure they can vote for a black and male candidate. Unfortunately, there are quite a few people like that. Hillary did a good job to exploit them. Now it is McCain/Palin's turn.

Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton were the outspoken critic of Obama declaring that he was not qualified to be President. Now Obama wants them to be his mouthpiece. Who is going to believe them when they say he is now qualified?

McCain picked Palin to exploit those uninformed people Hillary exploited with the exactly same message Hillary used. Now Obama has to turn to Hillary for her help to rescue him. What an irony that is.

I have been "stiffed" three times in my 30 year professional career by someone who I rendered services to, gave a finished product to, but who refused to pay for those services even though they acknowledged the services and products were correct, were what they asked for, and were never challenged for not being correct. I did similar Capitol Hill campaign financial disclosure work for Bob Dole, Pat Buchanan, and a Democratic candidate for Ambassador to New Zealand All of those folks paid even though they lost the election or did not get the appointment. That type of work is very demanding and very tedious because your efforts are scrutinized by Congress. Biden did not care.


I am on the Board of Directors of a company that owns a majority position in a private jet management company in Northern Virginia .  They manage jets for businesses and rich folks. They also charter planes to the public. This past winter John Thompson chartered over $250,000 worth of air time. He paid every penny.


Joe Biden, in his latest unsuccessful run for President, chartered over $150,000 worth of air time. He PAID ZERO. He continues to refuse to pay stating his race is over and he is out of money. He never once complained about his flights. Joe Biden is a rich man. He could pay.

Joe Biden is a liar and a cheat. I know it first hand. Character is what life is all about. Joe Biden is a man of bad character and sets a bad example for America .

How do I know that?

Although Caroline is a capable lady with her own political instinct and intelligence, she has to be an agent of Ted Kennedy, who has already clearly expressed his opinion about Hillary. He said a week or two ago that it would not be possible to have Hillary on the ticket with Obama.

Jim Johnson used to work with John Kerry, who came out very early to endorse Obama to stop Hillary from getting the nomination. He knows some secrets Hillary has, which may be used by the Republicans if she gets the nomination.

I don't know much about Eric Holder.

Obama has sort of conceded SD to Hillary and been campainging around the country as if he were the nominee. He has also been bending backward sucking up to Hillary.

I am having a lot of fun watching you, Obama supporters, watching HRC tonight and hating her all the more. I am not watching HRC and the media because I have to stay alive tonight to enjoy better news coming in the next few weeks.

Sen. Obama and his team are not worried a bit about his loss in WV and possibly in KY next week. They have already all figured out for a long time and many of you and I have not truly given enough credit to their game plan.

I don't believe the remaining "uncommitted" superdelegates are as un-informed, poorly educated or outright ignorant as the WV people. I do believe that the Obama team knows how many of the remaining superdelegates are unofficially on its side. That is why I am not worried. I avoid watching HRC and the media tonight in fear of getting a heart attack under so much emotional stress caused by HRC's hateful antics.

I also belive that HRC is politically dead from now on. She would not get any political support from the Democratic senators and congressmen and women. That is the silver lining resulting from HRC's narrow-minded and destructive behavior.

I think Obama should have early on challenged and demystifyed Hillary's 35-years' experience and her claim that she was ready to be the Commander-in-Chief on Day one. I have no doubt that her ads about the 3 o'clock phone call in OH and TX gave her needed boost.

I also believe that Obama's forceful attack on Hillary's stupid and pandering proposal about the Gas Tax Hollidays gave him much needed uplift in IN and NC.

You can take the high roads, but you can still set someone's, especially Hillary's lies and exagerations straight. I do still believe that Obama has unnecessarily prolonged the primary season. I hope the Obama campaign has learned something from the Gas Tax Holidays.

MR. WILLIAMS: Well, Senator Clinton, in the last debate you seemed to take a pass on the question of whether or not Senator Obama was qualified to be commander in chief. Is your contention in this latest speech that America would somehow be taking a chance on Senator Obama as commander in chief?

CLINTON: Well, I have put forth my extensive experience in foreign policy, you know, helping to support the peace process in Northern Ireland, negotiating to open borders so that refugees fleeing ethnic cleansing would be safe, going to Beijing and standing up for women's rights as human rights and so much else. And every time the question about qualifications and credentials for commander in chief are raised, Senator Obama rightly points to the speech he gave in 2002. He's to be commended for having given the speech. Many people gave speeches against the war then, and the fair comparison is he didn't have responsibility, he didn't have to vote; by 2004 he was saying that he basically agreed with the way George Bush was conducting the war. And when he came to the Senate, he and I have voted exactly the same. We have voted for the money to fund the war until relatively recently. So the fair comparison was when we both had responsibility, when it wasn't just a speech but it was actually action, where is the difference? And I disagree with his continuing to say that he would meet with some of the worst dictators in the world without preconditions and without the real, you know, understanding of what we would get from it.

So I think you've got to look at, you know, what I have done over a number of years, traveling on behalf of our country to more than 80 countries, meeting and working out a lot of different issues that are important to our national security and our foreign policy and our values, serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee for now five years. And I think that, you know, standing on that stage with Senator McCain, if he is, as appears to be, the nominee, I will have a much better case to make on a range of the issues that really America must confront going forward, and will be able to hold my own and make the case for a change in policy that will be better for our country.
