Republicans in Congress were elected to do some honest days' work not just whine. Already they're fighting healthcare instead of trying to help come up with answers. The REpublicans have absolutely no intentions of doing any work until 2010.

The Republicans are wasting so much money on degrading our government instead of doing the work they were voted in to do! I am furious about this...they act like a bunch of morons. No wonder our country's economy bit the dust under 8 years of Bush!!!! No real brains or care for fellow Americans.

All the statements Republicans have been making the past few months have been undignified and downright unpatriotic.

The Repubs were SO outspoken and angry at the stimulus, but now...guess what? Bragging about their own "earmarks" that were put into the bill.

Kit Bond was totally outspoken against the stimulus package and voted against it BUT on our local news, Bond is touting what some call "earmarks" but HE says it isn't. So now he is bragging about the part of the stimulus bill that he "earmarked" for low-income housing for Cape Girardeau MO. It's not that the project won't be useful, it will. The infuriating part is his angry remarks during the Senate debates on the Stimulus and totally against it. Yet now he is happy the Democrats passed his part. HOW IGNORANT OF HIM! So why didn't he vote for the bill?

Investigate just how many Republican "earmarks" that they NOW say creates jobs. THEY DON'T GET THIS BOTH WAYS...AGAINST STIMULUS THEN BRAG ABOUT WHAT THEY PUT IN!

I was apalled at the remarks I heard Bond rant and rave on C-Span2 in the Stimulus debates. How DARE he criticize the bill so strongly yet he put in his own earmarks.

Missourians...get ready. Let's not slip on the high voter turnout iin 2010.

Robin Carnahan has a good reputation in Missouri and she would make a great Senator to replace Kit Bond who SAYS he's retiriing (but we all know he can change his mind). We'd hate to lose her expertise at the state level, but excited at the Senate prospects. Thank goodness, Claire McCaskill isn't up for re-election in 2010...not until 2012. And McCaskill is FANTASTIC!

Here is also a link about how polls now, if Bond tried to run again, Carnahan is already in a dead heat before they would even get started...so she probably would beat Bond. I was apalled at Kit Bond's Senate remarks about the stimulus bill! Typical Republican script.

For those of you in other states, keep an eye on who will be running for Senate or House of Reps. in you own states. I have been so disgusted at the games Republicans played during this Economic Recovery Bill...well, I for one want people in Washington who WORK FOR US and not cave in to the "sheep follow the leader" style the Republicans have been using.

It's very obvious that the Republicans (except for 3) are obstructionists and are NOT voting for the very people who put them if office. Instead they are voting as some kind of "elite club" instead of offering INTELLIGENT solutions. Reports are numerous about the threats against them if they vote for the stimulus package. And it's obvious when the vote as a "block" that they don't think for themselves or the citizens of each state.

And what did McCain have to offer? Start over! Good God, no wonder he lost the election! After all the work Congress and the administration put into this bill ever since November...start over is his answer? McCain still doesn't use his God-given brain to come up with anything new.

The Repubs want big tax cuts for big business to create jobs? Get real...if the consumer doesn't have the money to buy the products and services, it is certainly bad business practice to expand when there's no one to buy. So the only ones who would benefit would be CEO pay...certainly not the average consumer or worker.

Watch Eric Cantor of Virginia. He thinks he's leading some kind of "gang" instead of acting like a Congressman who cares about the citizens. Are all Republicans just in Washington to play a game or will they EVER actually work for the voters who put them there? I doubt it.

I have to wonder at the patience factor in this country. With the new administration working so hard but only in office for 3 weeks, why is the media and so many people so insistent that we have immediate END results? It took YEARS to get us in this mess (partly because of the stupid methods Republicans have used) and it's NOT going away overnight.

I am thrilled that Obama and his administration have worked so hard and so fast in just 3 weeks.

I want to see the new policies and solutions work and I know it will take some time. In addition to that, we have to have confidence! We are just as much a part of the problems at hand. I think the "fear factor" has gotten to us a little too much. Let congress know we have confidence this will all turn around.

One important thing for us to do is keep our faith, hope, patience, determination and make this all work! We hated the Repubs fear tactics during the elections...don't let them get to us now. At least Obama is doing something which is much much more than Republicans in Congress or Bushy did in 8 years!

As I watched C-Span2 during the Senate debates, I laughed at the absolutely ridiculous arguments the Repubs were making and their comparisons...while I was too young to remember Eisenhower, I DO remember from JFK to today. Be very careful about what you read and hear from the Repubs...they're twisting a lot of information to suit their need to get the Republican PAC money for their next elections...many of them are NOT voting according to the people who elected them. Wasn't that obvious to you when TOO MANY Republicans voted against it as one big "block"???? I'm not one for polls, but CNN even wondered about the voting since the polls showed 32% of Republicans (citizens) approved the stimulus package as well as some governors who're Repubs, yet why did less than 1% of Congress vote for it. The numbers don't add up at all.

Patience and careful research is in order right now before we become too critical. I am thrilled with Obama's first 3 weeks.

The Republican Party is still falling apart...let's not let the Democratic Party be like "those guys".

CNN had a post about the Republican Trust PAC the other day stating how the National Republican Trust PAC threatened any Republican Congressmen/women who voted for the stimulus plan. That means those Repubs in Congress were NOT VOTING FOR THEIR CITIZENS like they were elected to do but rather to have their strings pulled by some PAC special group!

Here's part of the article quoted on CNN site (GOP group gets tough against Republicans who support stimulus). I only include it here because we all know how fast information gets deleted on the Web.

“Republican senators are on notice," Wheeler said. "If they support the stimulus package, we will make sure every voter in their state knows how they tried to further bankrupt voters in an already bad economy.” (Wheeler is with that PAC)

I call this BLACKMAIL! I thought it was very strange that the Repubs were voting in some kind of "block" against the bill...it was VERY obvious there was something going on with them. As I listened to their arguments on C-Span2, none of their arguments made sense and they manipulated the past to suit their argument. Case in point...Japan...where we all know the lesson was learned that they didn't have a big enough stimulus so Japan had to use more of them...but the Repubs didn't bring that up. They brought upJFK years...but the economy wasn't is bad shape then (I do remember those years and they weren't like now)

They just still don't get it. As I listened to the Senate debating and saw the vote in the House that had no Repubs it was obvious they have absolutely no intention on doing anything but their goofy ideology.

Nixon had the wage/price freeze...I had to quit a job that I liked just to get a "raise" by getting a new job

Reagan had trickle down economics and deregulation and I saw the greed get out of hand back then and the economy fall for everyone except the rich.

We all know the Bushes did nothing to improve the economy and #43 absolutely failed us.

Now we have those die hard Reagan wannabes with the same ideas that got us in this mess to start with.

A BUNCH OF TAX BREAKS ARE USELESS!!!!! Repubs think big breaks to business will create jobs. Excuse me? What smart business person would start a business if there's no one to buy the product or service! That's bad business! And why did the Repubs insist on cutting infrastructure spending? That creates good jobs and good transportation systems that would last for YEARS. Or are the Repubs waiting for all the bridges to fall down and kill people?

We must help the automakers in the U.S. Listen up people...other countries subsidize their own industries and impose high import taxes on any cars we want to sell in their country. The cars here are same price as ours, same gas mileages...only the hype from the media makes you THINK foreign is better. Hogwash! They all use the same technology and design and tooling.

Also, the very important tax base for schools are the car manufacturers. Schools in those areas would be either drastically reduced in competence or lost altogether.

Many many other industries sell to our automakers and they too would be out of business...tooling, seat upholsterers, electronic sleeves, tires, local restaurants, etc. MUCH more other industries would be impacted. Our biggest losses are in manufacturing and that's crap. Remember when our own steel industries were put out of business because other countries subsidized their own making cheaper steel? You are seeing what happens when we lose manufacturing.

Don't blame automakers who made SUVs and large vans when YOU demanded them in sales. I remember when Ford in St Louis was making Explorers and wanted to drop the Econoline van and the demand from dealer sales was such they had to continue for another year to meet sales.

Don't tell me how good your Honda is when a Mystique or Contour was just as good. Don't fuss about Escape small SUV when the foreign companies are producing THE SAME THING and imorting them here...same mileage, same price (because we don't tax them as much as they tax ours)

I'd rather see bailout to automakers to maintain jobs than to greedy Wall Street CEOs!!!

McCain has and continues to use deceit, lies, distortions, division, and the most dishonorable campaign and election shenangans EVER. It's all been so OBVIOUS, too!

No matter what happens win or lose, I don't see how McCain can even face Congress! McCain and Palin have nearly made a joke out of our elections. The media can cover up and try to make it look semi-dignified on McCain's part...but even that won't work. And it's very obvious that Palin is only a tag-along.

I am so PROUD of Barack Obama and Joe Biden! And what I've seen is the most well-run campaign ever. Obama gives us details and has shown such steadiness and intelligence while McCain only puts down others (not just Barack, but also entire groups of Americans).

We need, in today's crises, Obama's leadership and his inspiration. McCain has said before that he (McCain) wants to be like a dictator (on YouTube) and we certainly don't want that.

We have to stay very vigilant against the Republican tricks to suppress votes and win by any means. McCain and Palin can claim to be such righteous Christians...their actions tell me they are "Sunday" only church-goers. Obama and Biden LIVE and ACT the Christian life and values!

I've taught in two different rural junior/senior high school districts and I can tell you that mcCain's voucher system and absolute lack of funding for our public system would literally destroy our rural districts.

I watched students suddenly trying to plug holes in the old wood flooring with gum to stop the bugs from coming in. I had senior high students taking the same class they had passed the year before because they needed the credits to graduate but the school didn't have enough teachers to have additional courses let alone new textbooks.

I saw first-hand how wasteful even the Missouri MAP test was, let alone Bush's silly "standardized" test.

Now, McCain's voucher system is not only a joke, it assumes everyone goes to school in the cities. There is NO choice in rural areas unless a family wants to drive 50 miles to the nearest bigger city. and most private schools are religious based...that is NOT separation of church and state. McCain's vouchers would take badly needed funding away from public schools.

Obama's plans for education are very good and well thought out. It's what we need in ALL our schools. I'm amazed there's so many rural Republican voters for McCain just because that's how they always voted...they are going to destroy our education system.

McCain wanting to put uncertified teachers in our classrooms would be a disaster! There's a LOT MORE to it than just taking a book and trying to get 20-30 kids all on the same page!

McCain even opposed the Dept. of Education and at one time said it should be abolished! Good grief...just because McCain was a poor student, doesn't mean he has to destroy the opportunities for everyone else. A voucher system leaves out millions of students instead of improving ALL our public schools. That's what I thought my tax dollars were supposed to go toward...good first-class public schools. This is NOT the place to play around with McCain's so-called "competition". Leave that to companies, but our education is our right.

Obama has a stong committment to education that this country desperately needs right now.

Within Obama's speech, you had to really catch it, we heard what is a real statement for our economic crisis. It's not now just about corruption and deregulation.

McCain's arguments about corporation taxes is nothing compared to the fact...middle class has to be able to afford the products and services in order for the business to thrive. Taxes won't create jobs. A business has to have CONSUMERS first, someone to sell to. The more consumers buying the products/services, the better the company will do. And Obama DOES give breaks to companies that put Americans to work.

Why does a business lay off workers? Sales are down. Why are sales down? Not enough buyers for the product or services. Vicious cycle, isn't it?

Obama's economic plan helps both businesses and the people. McCain's plan is only for wealthy Cindy types. But even in beer distributoship wealth...there MUST be consumers to buy the products. And living on the bare minimum, beer is hardly a necessity. (ok, maybe for some of you)At any rate...even with lower corporate taxes, now why would a business expand here knowing there weren't enough consumers spending money? mcCain's economics is plain ole faulty. Can you believe McCain wants to just take people off street and put them in our classrooms WITHOUT CERTIFICATION????? He is CRAZY! I almost had a heart attack over this! did you see McCain's face? It was like he pulled an idea out the air and got all giddy that he thought of something? If that's how he makes decisions...God help us!

Vouchers and charter schools are not the same. Charters operate within our own public system. vouchers are for those going to PRIVATE schools, most of them church-based, and very selective in admissions. Most people cannot afford a private school at all. Voucher systems would take money out of the public system and destroy it! McCain bluffed his way through school...no wonder he has such a low view of education!

Of course, McCain wanted to do away with the Department of Education anyway. That alone shows he would never support public schools nor teachers...and put our kids in jeopardy of being prevented from getting a good education! And in rural schools...just WHERE does McCain think there'd be competition???? Would he put our kids on buses to travel 40 miles for competition????

But the non-certification thing amazed me (I'm a former junior/senior high teacher) and it would be disaster for our children and grandchildren! it's a totally different ball game from at-home teaching of one's own child and teaching 30 kids in one class in a school with hundreds of kids. Trust me, certification is IMPORTANT!

Did you notice CNN's split screen shots of McCain. He had his typical smirky, smart-axx look on his face, but he was looking off to his left...not toward Obama. WHO was he constantly looking at? Our PUBLIC school system needs upgrading and THAT'S what our tax dollars pay for. EVERY child deserves a good PUBLIC education.

Now in St Louis, yes there are PUBLIC charter schools that specialize in various areas and yes, those who can drive their kids to school and are good. And there's neighborhood public schools.

Now what McCain keeps pushing for VOUCHER system takes away money from our public education in order to cover the voucher costs. WHAT??? And most schools that would use vouchers are PRIVATE and usually church-based schools. so where's the separation of church and state here?

There's a BIG difference between charter and voucher systems. Our school system does NOT need to be competitive within itself...it needs to be competitive with the world schools. That means making our PUBLIC schools the best they can be...NOT going BACKWARDS with vouchers.

NO TO VOUCHERS SYSTEM OF SCHOOLS!!!!!!!!!! Our forefathers worked hard to make sure EVERYONE has the right to good PUBLIC schools.
