Door Knockin'

Greetings! Just wanted to drop a note and share with you my excitement over yet another successful day canvassing. It was a rainy, dreary day here in central MInnesota, but a group of us got out there and did some door knockin' anyway. We met alot of very nice people and identified quite a few undecided voters. I am confident that our efforts today helped to sway some votes Obama's way.

We will be out there every day possible from now until November doing our part to make this thing happen. Please, won't you join us in some door knockin?? For every 4 doors knocked, another vote is swayed. It truly does make a difference. For those of you that are intimidated about the idea, please just give it a chance. You will find out that once you are out there talking to people, it is fun and people are actually very happy to have you at their door.

visibility matters

Hey Folks,

This weekend a few of us got together to canvas the Buffalo, MN parade and register voters. It was a successful day...non-registered voters got on their way to being able to vote, Barack supporters were offered encouragement and sported stickers & buttons, undecided's walked away with litterature and a face to put to the campaign, and I am hoping that McCain supporters took note that there was NOBODY their representing the republican party or their candidate.

Visibility really matters, folks, and I strongly encourage each of you to do what you can this summer to get Barack's name out there. There is still a sizeable percentage of the population that listen to the smears and do not take the time to really find out who Barack is and what he stands for. It is up to us to help enlighten that part of our society, and make sure that these people are making their decisions on how to vote for the right reasons.

So, in a nut shell, grab every chance you get to put yourself out there this summer spreading the good news. It really, truly does make a difference.

...and November is going to be here before we know it!

A Truly Great Day

This is a truly great day! Congrat's to all of you who have been supporting Barack and this movement of change through the past year and a half. Last nights rally was exhilerating, and I wish that each and every one of you could have been there!

Yes, today is a truly great day. The only thing that will be better than this day, is the day that we wake up to Barack being the next President of the United States of America.

My love and admiration goes out to all of you, both for the work that you have done to get him this far, and for the work that you will do in the next 5 months to reach that finish line.

Yes we did!! and Yes we will!!

Back for SD

Just in from 3 days of canvassing in SD. Had a great time! Made a positive impact on the vote, and met some people that I will never forget. Definately time well spent!! I found lots of Barack supporters out there, and quite a few undecideds that were leaning Barack. I am real anxious to hear how he does in the counties that I was in...

I wish I could've stayed through election day, but family and obligations called to me. If any of you can make it there today or tomorrow, it would be worth your time. If not, a few phone calls might be all that is needed to encourage those undecideds in the right direction. Let's end this part of the campaign on a really positive note!!

This weekend is it, our last chance to truly make a difference in this Primary race.

Those of you that live in the primary states, please go out of your way to reach out to as many people as possilbe. Those of you that live near Montana and South Dakota, please consider making the short roadtrip across the state line to help out the volunteers that are on the ground there. Those of you that are logistically out of reach, please take just 10 minutes a day and call these states and talk to them.

I will be leaving first thing in the morning for SD, and am very, very excited to get on the ground and start talking to people. Come join me!!

WE are the ones that we have been waiting for. WE need to be the ones that make the difference.

...Hillary is expected to win Puerto Rico, and a good show of support for Barack in Montana and South Dakota would really give Obama's campaign a boost. Let's not give Hillary any more reasons to keep going...

Back from Indy

Just got back from Indiana after a long weekend of canvassing in Marion County. Our headquarters there canvassed over 18,000 homes on Saturday and Sunday alone! Obama won that county 67%! Many, many thanks to those of you that made the trip out there to help, as well as to those of you that reached out through the phonelines. We only lost that state by 2%, and that is definately a victory in it's own right.

...on to West Virginia!

Saturday's clean-up and rally

I attended the ObamaWorks watershed clean-up and the Nation for Change rally in Minneapolis Saturday. The clean-up was a big success, and you would be hard pressed to find narry a cigarette butt along that riverfront park.

The rally was also a success, although not quite as large of a turnout as I had hoped for. I'm thinking the weather, cold,damp and breezy, was a contributing factor. The speakers were all very inspirational, the entertainment extremely talented and uplifting, and the attmosphere in general was very possitive. It was a very good chance to meet new people and get a feel for where we are going from here. I will e-mail out some pics from the event...

The rally was definately a call to action. We all really need to offer whatever support we can, and phone banking is a very key element right now. If each of us called just 5 people a day, we would have a serious impact.

yesterday's organizational meeting

I attended the organizational meeting with RT Rybak in Minneapolis yesterday. We had quite an impressive turnout. The place was packed past capacity, with people lining up outside. I heard a guess that there were in the neighborhood of 500 people there. Not bad, for less than a weeks notice and on the first nice day in weeks!

The meeting was very inspirational. Lots of great energy. There were two avenues for volunteering that were highlighted: making calls to PA, IN, OR, and NC; and getting involved in the new National Volunteer Program at mn.barackobama.com/MNVols.

Our surprise at the meeting was that Nancy Larson (DNC member and Minnesota Super Delegate) was there, gave a small speech, and announced that she will be endorsing Barack Obama. Great, great news!!

It was a very inspiring meeting, and I am looking forward to this Saturday's Clean Up and Rally!

I had not been aware of this contraversy with Clinton. Apparantly she has accepted donations from a company that is being charged with multiple counts of sexual harrasment...and has defended taking those donations because the charges are "still pending". Read the article, it is pretty disturbing...and it gives you a pretty good look at her true character (or lack there of).
