There are people out there fervently praying for Obama/Biden. I want to share with you the prayer that was shared with me. Say it, Pray it.

" O taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed happy, fortunate, to be envied is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him." (Psalm 34:8) Thank you God for Barack's victory in the debate Thursday night. Thank You for giving him an excellent spirit and for having unmerited favor upon his life in every situation and circumstance.(Daniel 6:3) Lord today we ask that You keep a hedge of protection around Barack, Joe, their familes and their supporters as the campaigning winds down and the voting picks up. We pray that You will especially bless and protect voters, voting equipment and the voting process so that it is free of fraud and manipulation. We pray that Your will be done and reflected in the outcome of this election so that the needs of the people, nation and world are met and the American dream is restored returning us to a level of solvency, repectability and leadership

Early Voting - Rockdale County, Georgia

Rockdale County, Georgia's web site posts the following schedule and times for Early Voting. You can even do it this Saturday.

In-Person Early Voting:
Vote prior to the November 4, 2008 General Election at the Rockdale County Board of Elections Office, 1400 Parker Road (enter Lobby B and follow the signs).

Early voting is open to all registered Rockdale County voters on the following dates:
Monday - Friday:          September 19 - October 24: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Saturday:                    October 25, 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Monday - Tuesday:      October 27 - : 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday - Friday:    October 29 - 31: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Voter Registration begins at home.

There are many quotable quotes that end with the three words . . .begins at home. For instance, "charity begins at home" "education begins at home" "safety begins at home". I got a new one for you to consider. "Voter registration begins at home".

Unfortunately for Sarah Palin, she has lost the benefit of a sure vote - her future son-in-law, her daughter's future husband, Levi Johnston, recently admitted to the press that he missed Wasilla's voter registration deadline and will not be able to vote for his own future Mother-in-law.

What?? You mean to tell me when Sarah Palin was tapped by John McCain to be his running mate she didn’t call a meeting of all extended family members to say “hey ya’ll I’m running for Vice-President of the United States of America, by the way, all ya’ll are registered voters right??” Rule #1 of running a business, family or even a whole county is to check yourself and your family to make sure that everybody is in at least minimal compliance with the basic stuff, that if skipped, could cause an embarrassing moment.

When John McCain had his staff vet his choice for VP they could have easily run down Sarah and Todd’s family tree and asked them a few of the same questions I'm sure they didn't fail to ask Obama, his family and associates:

not a terrorist √

fit to lead or be a baby daddy √

current gun registration √

current hunting license √

not a member of the Alaskan Independence Party not sure

Say It Isn't So Clinton!

News articles have quoted Clinton Portis, running back for the NFL’s Washington Redskins, as saying he doesn’t plan to vote because he doesn’t know who to vote for. Say it isn’t so! It’s one thing to be undecided; it’s another to be uninvolved.

Clinton, I have a question? When you are on the field do you not take an opportunity to score just because you don’t know whether you will make it to the end zone or not? I don’t think so. You jump out there and work the field until a hole opens up then you make a mad dash through it to the end zone and score for your team. That’s what makes you a great player. You make the tough decisions; you make the tough moves without even flinching.

Go to a rally held by both parties, listen to the issues, and read several sources about the issues that you find are important to you. Talk to some of your boys and even somebody else’s boys to get a different opinion. I challenge you Clinton Portis to take it outside of the huddle. America finally has a quarterback they can get behind. All he needs is the team’s support. Get out there and get in the game!

Repudiate This!

Many news stations reported today "Rep. John Lewis of Georgia, a Civil Rights-era leader, condemned GOP campaign tactics as "sowing the seeds of hatred and division," drawing an immediate and angry response from Sen. John McCain." Immediate?! Angry?! That immediate anger is nothing new. We have all seen immediate anger in John McCain over and over again. That immediate anger is what will drive this county into many many wars with no end in sight if John McCain becomes POTUS. Why is it that every time someone calls McCain out on his stuff he wants Obama to repudiate their comments? Obama is not responsible for every word that comes out of every American's mouth. I could think of a few choice comments of Sarah Palin and Cindy McCain that ”MaverickMan" himself should repudiate. If Obama's feet are going to be held to the fire for everything every Democrat says then let’s hold McCain's feet to the fire for everything Republican supporters say. How about the man that yelled out "kill him" at a recent McCain rally. Has McCain repudiated that comment? How about Sarah Palin insinuating that Obama pals around with terrorists. Has McCain repudiated that comment? How about Cindy McCain accusing Obama of running "the dirtiest campaign in American history." We don't need McCain to "tone down" Sarah Palin's rhetoric. If John McCain wants to prove to us that he is a man "fit to lead", then he needs to stop Palin's divisive and incendiary comments dead in their tracks. As a presidential nominee McCain should get plenty of practice NOW reviewing Palin's speeches and comments and editing them before she opens her mouth to the public. She is a part of HIS ticket and should be held responsible for the things she says about another candidate.

John Lewis, is not an inside part of Obama's campaign. If you will recall, he did not immediately support Obama. He was a Hillary supporter, John come lately, if you will, but I digress. Lewis is an elected official and a Democrat and can speak to any issue he chooses in any way he chooses. Obama is not responsible for that. Only John Lewis is responsible for what he says. And while I'm on this topic, what church going member gets to choose his/her Pastor's sermons? You show up, you sit down, and the words that come out of their mouths are theirs. Obama should not be held accountable for the comments made by his Pastor.

It's only been since the very late 70's (in some states) that blacks have been able to publicly walk around and experience the "American way of life" without being spat on, hit on or harassed by a public official. Heaven forbid if a comment like John Lewis' was made more than 30 years ago, that poor soul would be looped down from a tree some where in the bowels of an untraveled wooded area. For this reason, minorities have always been sensitive to and could easily pick out comments by others that were meant to pick the boil of racism, incite riots and build-up hatred in those who hear the comments. These comments are still very fresh to our ears and easy to pick up on. No wonder when we hear them again today in 2008 they cause a reaction in many like the sound of sharp fingernails racing across a chalkboard. John Lewis heard those nails on the chalkboard, cringed and spoke up. Thank you John Lewis.

The Show Must Go On - Be There or Be Square!

I don’t agree with McCain’s proposal to the Obama Campaign to suspend campaign work to focus on the government’s bailout catastrophe. We need to hear from our nominees and we need to hear what they think about the government’s bailout plan and many other issues on the table. I do believe Obama and McCain need to be present in Washington for any and all votes or discussion that may be scheduled regarding the bailout catastrophe. Why can’t they do both? Many average American citizens multi-task everyday. Just ask some CEO soccer moms and dads who may be attending a meeting in New York by day and back in Alabama for their kids little league game by daybreak. Can’t our “nominees to be” campaign in one city on one day and travel back to DC for a hearing the next day? We are not expecting any more of you than we expect of ourselves every day of the week.

The show must go on. The debate must proceed. As Obama said earlier, we can’t fall for McCain’s “okedoke”. Momentum is everything and McCain knows it. Obama is leading in the polls right now and if our campaign agrees to put the breaks on the train that’s obviously rolling in our favor, then the Obama Campaign could lose its momentum and slow down losing precious votes. We have to do both, focus on the bailout catastrophe and keep the campaign train rolling. If McCain is too old to handle it then he should give up the race – it is not for the weak. Be there or be square!!

In My Community...

In my community, if somebody talked bad about your mama, daddy or a very close family member, you could expect a good old fashioned beat down -- with the quickness. So, when Gov. Palin told America that Community Organizers didn't have real responsibilities I was highly offended.

I was raised by community organizers. My parents, a preacher and teacher, spent their days and nights exhibiting the same skills that CEO's of major corporations are required to possess. I watched them galvanize groups of people, encourage, motivate and energize their communities to complete a goal.

Where would we be today without Community Organizers, our grassroots policymakers, those folks who get down and dirty with the work, gathering and identifying the issues and problems important to our communities and then carry them out of our community to the elected government officials over and over again until the community's voice is heard. We all know somebody who works hard for the people and becomes their voice until their voice is heard. I doubt if the GOP and The McCain Campaign got where they are today without the skilled leadership and assistance of the same community organizers Gov. Palin dissed at the convention.

Where would the Montgomery Bus Boycot be without it's many community organizers? Martin L. King, E.D.Nixon and many others along with the bravery of Rosa Parks planned and organized a community to fight for human rights. I could go on and on naming many from the past and present.

Community Organizers and those who have their back should be outraged at Gov. Palin's message and stand ready to show McCain/Palin the true spirit of Community Organization by gathering together and supporting the Obama/Biden ticket and registering new voters. Your vote is needed in November.

Nothing Over-the-top

I'm still reeling from last night. What an awesome experience! My family and I watched CSPAN’s uninterrupted coverage and enjoyed every minute of it from the national anthem, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, the DNC band and the DJ's music in between all the speeches. We especially liked watching people of all color dance and party together. When Obama got to the podium we clung to every word of his acceptance speech. Nothing seemed too “over-the-top” to me. It was all just fine.
