Obama and new senators or Palin and same Bush crew?

Mr. Chuck Todd said today in Meet the Press that he is worried about having an inexperienced president and a group of inexperienced Democrat senators serving at the same time. I would like Mr. Chuck Todd or any other political analyst to give me one strong reason why I should not be worried about having Sarah Palin and other “experienced” Republicans in charge of the White House for another 4 years.

What is worse Obama and new senators or Palin and same Bush crew?

The question republicans are afraid of

Ask republicans who claims Sarah Palin is the best VP candidate if they think Sarah Palin is ready to be commander and chief, the president of The United States, if God forbid something happened to McCain? If they do not answer with a simple and clear yes, and after that you keep talking about her, the audience will notice you are just entertaining us with her.
Sarah Palin already found out the duties of a VP, but she still doesn’t want us to even think about that possibility. She is afraid more republicans will vote for Obama if they imagine her being the president.
Why McCain couldn't articulate to the American people the great plan some republicans claim he has? Why Schwarzenegger, Julianne and other republicans need to explain it for him? Who is running for president? What is happening with Senator McCain, can’t he lead? Can he make us trust him to lead us better than Bush ?

Is "Spreading the Wealth" in America socialism?

"Spreading the Wealth" in America is being labeled by some republicans as socialism. What is the label for spreading the wealth among oil companies, war supplies big businesses, Iraq, Afghanistan etc.? Is it socialism to give a tax cut to those whose income does not allow them to buy a car, but offers no tax cut to those who can afford to buy an airplane?I own a car dealer and I make more than 250,000.00 a year. I do not want to pay more taxes, but at the same time I want my customers to afford buying a car from me. If the low income families get a tax cut, it is more likely that these families can afford to buy cars from me. If my sale increases, I can afford to hire more employees. For every employee I hire Obama promises me a tax break. The average salary income reported by American plumbers is less than 50,000.00. Obama is promising no tax increase for those whose income is less than 250,000.00 a year.Whatever tax all Americans are paying right now will be mostly used for improving healthcare and education, creating jobs, searching for energy independence, enhancing our military life and protecting America. After some years under Obama’s economic plan, some Americans who have been receiving welfare checks for the last 8 years might be able to get jobs and pay taxes. Can you explain to me why is this idea labeled as socialism or “a bad medicine for an ill economy”?

The challenging role voters face this year

A country which cannot prevent an economic recession; it is falling behind on education, and it is sacrificing so many lives to secure oil supply, needs an immediate rescue. If the actual president of the United States is responsible for the actual situation, and the next president is responsible for correcting it, which one of the actual candidates has more chances to fulfill this duty? Will I have the guts on November 4th to answer this question based on facts and pursuing American common interest? McCain promises “no tax increase for anybody”. He also says he will not take away money from me and re-distribute it to others. So the taxes I am paying now will not be used to create programs which will assist financially disadvantaged students get college degrees. Instead, he will spend my tax dollars on prolonging Iraq war to secure America’s oil supply and some day claim victory. The other one is telling me that he will not use my tax dollars to endlessly sacrifice more American lives in Iraq. Instead he promises to implement programs aiming to rich energy independence, improve education and create jobs. So far I have not heard some details I want to hear from any of these candidates, and I am still unsure who will execute his promises once elected. This means that my role as a voter is more challenging this year. I have to vote for the candidate who I guess will be the best president for America or for the one who I guess will best serve my personal interest. Fortunately, senator McCain and senator Obama, each one in their own way, have inspired me to make of American common interest my personal interest. They have awakened my patriotism. So, in November 4th, I am almost sure I will press that button mainly because I guess “that one” shows greater potential to rescue America.

What will matter this Election Day?

Even though the candidate running for vise-president has never matter much at the moment of voting for a president, this year it might. The reason for this will not be because this year candidate is a woman. Indeed, there are a few American women who are prepared to be not only the vice-president, but also the president of the United States. The reason will be because she has not convinced most Americans that she is prepared to be the vice-president nor the president if, God forbid, she had to do so.

By choosing a running mate with entertaining skills, but doubtful preparation to fulfill her duties, senator McCain has sent a message of having questionable judgment and short term vision. His decision seems to be aiming rescuing his campaign and hopefully getting votes on Election Day. Nevertheless, some Americans are giving McCain some credit for adding some excitement to his campaign; many others are questioning his judgment and long term vision abilities. Does McCain really believe that his actual running mate is the best prepared American woman or man to rescue America now? Unfortunately, many Americans will question McCain’s judgment and abilities to rescue this country weather his answer is yes or no. If he answers no, many Americans will believe that, this time, he had put his desires to win the election before this country. On the other hand, if he answers yes, “bet you” most Americans will disagree with him.

Your Vote is Power

On May 2008 a group of "bodegueros", cab drivers, and concerned citizens of Perth Amboy, NJ were able to bring enough first time voters (mostly Hispanics) to the poles to exercise their right to elect their Mayor. This non-political group of people, which included high school students, distributed flyers for the last 7 days before elections with instructions in both English and Spanish on how to use a voting machine to elect their favorite candidates. These flyers also included a phone number of a free transportation for those needing it to go to vote, and hot line phone number to ask questions about where and how to vote or to report any abnormalities observed in the poles. The main theme on every flyer was “Your vote is power” or “Tu voto es poder”. On Election Day, the Hispanic community in Perth Amboy went to the poles, and surprisingly for those “in power” they changed the expected outcome. This case is an evidence of what we, minorities, have discovered: on Election Day our vote is as powerful as the vote of those “in power”.
With that being said, I am surprised to learn that many Perth Amboy front yards and bodegas do not have the Obama For President sign.
