President Obama, Please Get FISA Right
Obama, you are asking to be elected as the President of the United States. We are the employers and you are our prospective employee. A primary job requirement is leadership.
Just because McCain's idea of leadership is to blow everything up is no excuse for you shirk this important qualification, thinking we must support you anyway. These last couple of weeks have been horrendous and I cringe to think how you might act as president when the pressure is magnitudes greater and the stakes unlimited.
In critical times will you just dither, looking for the mythical center while kicking your activist base in the teeth like you did to us over the FISA amendment? Will you keep or break your oath to defend the constitution? Many of us have also taken that oath and we are watching you right now in great dismay. You also promised last year to filibuster any bill that offered telecom immunity. What happened?
It takes a lot of heart to volunteer and follow through till election day. Don't break our hearts. Show leadership. Show integrity.
Carried on our backs you will win unless you think you don't really need us. Time to step up and shine or let us go home while you run a standard democratic election bid of triangulation and betrayal of your base.
