My niece's house was the target of vandals last week, when their Obama signs were destroyed and acts of senseless destruction left their yard littered with For Sale signs and garbage. It actually appeared to be a small war zone.
Vandals were a tribe which invaded the Roman Empire and according to Wikipedia, their actions "led to the association of the name of the tribe with persons who cause senseless destruction, particularly in diminution of aesthetic appeal or destruction of objects that were completed with great effort."
Even Obama can't tell you the whole truth. And that's because if he did, the major forces which run the world, including all governments and all corporations wouldn't stand for it. So Barack has to make very calculated moves, primarily to protect the White House from falling in to the hands of the next war monger--John McCain.
I think Senator Obama would probably agree with two heroes of mine, but he may also know that if he openly voiced his opinion that they are right and that they tell the truth, it would be political suicide. The two heroes are Paul Hawken and Noam Chomsky.
Without devoting much space here to the ideology of both or either Paul or Noam, I will just restate a simple fact which both men would probably remind us--a charismatic leader is not the answer to our problems. Remember, I said Obama would probably agree with that. But if he weren't charismatic, he wouldn't be in the position he's in today. His charisma may get him elected, but we hope his intelligence and compassion and spiritual instincts will guide his behavior.
