Here is a question that I would like to see all the candidates answer, especially Barack. Tell me what you think?
Since losing the presidential race, Al Gore has proven his sincere commitment to saving our planet, a pivotal issue on which he campaigned.
Based on the issues that you now champion as a presidential candidate, how would you demonstrate a similar commitment if you were to lose this nomination, underscoring the point that this election is more than personal ambition?
Personally, I am appalled to see where Hillary, who I have a lot of respect for, has decided to take this race for the presidency; "Race Baiting".
I consider myself as a very fair and objective arbiter of facts, and after listening carefully to Hillary's statement regarding MLK, I can discern no positive intent behind her comments. The fact is that MLK fought without fail to achieve all that he has and was very powerful because of the "movement" he created in doing so. This is because MLK realized that no man is an island and together we can achieve anything. This is the context in which Barack made his inference to MLK,as Barack has done the same in creating a movement, resulting in his current momentum.
Martin had a dream, which was sparked by the Rosa Parks moment. He clearly defined this dream, galvanized large scale support and worked relentless to achieve this dream. There are many people who assisted in realizing this dream, but ultimately, Martin led the movement that resulted in civil rights being written into the law.
It is therefore important to realize the power of dreams in fueling a movement, especially when carefully articulated with a consistent message.
From what I understand, in trying to diminish the power of dreams, Hillary has undermined MLK's achievement. This is just wrong!!!!
But the reason she has done this, is that Hillary clearly realizes that in all honesty, Barack has a dream which is clearly articulated. This dream was sparked by the current state of our beloved country and the 2004 Democratic convention, where he created a movement with his visionary speech. If this dream takes root, and it will, she realizes that her campaign is in serious trouble. She is really worried and rightly so, because many people who love Hillary, like myself and would have voted for her, are clearly fascinated with Barack, as they see him as a true visionary leader....someone we have been yearning for since the days of JFK and Bobby Kennedy. People like myself believe he is genuine and yearning to fix a broken system.
To Hillary I can only say, its really unfortunate that Barack has decided to run in this election, when you were the clear candidate of choice, but on the other hand visionary leadership comes around once in a lifetime, which is really hard to pass up especially now, when the country urgently needs it.
Let's move past this man's race and listen to his message, which is creating a powerful movement to unite this country and fix our real problems. Trying to race bate and polarize people in order to have blacks side with Barack and whites siding with you is ill-advised, and if you win the democratic nomination by doing this, the backlash you would have created, may set back race relations for years and even possibly prevent you from gaining the presidency, which you believe you are clearly entitled to, having "served your time, waiting in the wings".
It is no wonder you are seen as a polarizing figure, who will perpetuate the present stalemate in washington. Let's get back on track and run a clean campaign.
