Yesterday, Congress passed a bill that'll make it much harder to hold the Bush administration responsible for its illegal wiretapping program.
Though progressive champions like Senators Dodd and Feingold stood strong, Senator Obama voted for the faulty bill.
But here's the thing: Barack Obama is still our best chance at real accountability: When he's elected, he can launch a full investigation into wiretapping and the Bush administration's other illegal activities, from torture to cooked intelligence.

Senator Obama knows what he's doing. Let's give him credit for good judgment on past votes.
For those of you still Bitching about the fact that Obama voted for the FISA Bill yesterday, if you had your way, we'd still have no protection in the future, and no recourse against the past either!
That's a dead lock with no results, just like the usual past actions of Congress! Obama has told you from the beginning, he will do things differently! I'm all for his difference. He got us good protection for the future! That's a big deal in my book! We'll work on the past acts later!
I understand Senator Obama's reason for voting yes on the FISA bill. It didn't give us everything I would have liked, but it gave us a whole lot more than we would have without it.
And Senator Obama knowing there was no way to get it passed with everything, voted for it to get us protection against the same thing happening in the future. At least we got what we want going forward. Doing something about what's already happened, we'll have to work on. But at least we will stop future invasion of our privacy.
WHEN WE INSIST ON ALL OR NOTHING, WHEN WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH VOTES TO OVERRIDE A VETO, WE OFTEN END UP WITH NOTHING!!! AND STILL OUR PRIVACY CAN BE INVADED AT WILL, AS HAS BEEN THE CASE UNTIL NOW! I still like Gov Kathleen Sebelius. Because of her superior ability to bring compromise between the two parties, she is a DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR in a very RED state! A DEMOCRAT!!!, who won in a REPUBLICAN!!! state. ONE OF OBAMA'S MOST FAMOUS TRAITS!
SHE'S HAD YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE KANSAS SENATE, AND MORE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AT RUNNING A GOVERNMENT, AS THE GOVERNOR OF KANSAS!
She has fought for early childhood education, quality education for every Kansas child, increasing research for renewable energy, creating more jobs, she is Pro-Choice, etc. She has all the qualities that Senator Obama could possibly want or need in a VP working junior partner. She's very intelligent, has a down to earth understanding of our economy, she can bring Senator Obama the RED STATE of KANSAS, and many other great qualities that would complement Barack and his administration.
Senator Obama has wonderful Foreign Policy experience. He understands how to unite this world, better than any person I've ever heard speak on foreign policy. He has excellent judgment when it comes to foreign policy, as supported by his judgment on the Iraq war. I want this country run on Senator Obama's understanding and judgment about Foreign Policy, not on someone else's judgment. So he doesn't need someone with HEAVY foreign policy experience. With all the advisors he will have, added to his judgment, that's where I want foreign policy to come from.
Educate yourself about Kathleen Sebelius. I like her "A LOT"!!!
