Ethanol in Brazil excludes them from importing oil. This is because decades ago they understood that it was important that they wean themselves of foreign oil imports. Yes I said Brazil. Yes! The same Brazil located in South America. Decades ago this country was facing the crisis that the United States is currently spiraling towards now.
A quick fact about the energy situation in Brazil points out that if there was an oil shortage in the Middle East, which most experts predict will happen because demand will inevitably outgrow supply, Brazil would not feel even the tiniest ripple effect simply because they were smart enough to take the steps to reverse their dependence on oil. How have the Brazilians accomplished this you ask? They are growing sugar to produce ethanol. SUGAR!! 40% of their vehicles operate off this type of ethanol today. Sugar!! They have already solved the problem of dependence on oil which is a major pollutant.

Once again our government has failed us!! They have not taken the responsibility in preparing this country for the future. Nature evolves naturally and we have to evolve with her or else she will eat us alive. THAT THE COLD HARD TRUTH!!
These are the tough decisions that we as human beings need to face up to. Unfortunately, we are still lazy and so afraid of sacrifice that we still don’t see the light. Instead of taking the necessary steps to cure our addiction on Foreign Oil President Bush and John McCain are calling for more drilling off our coast and more investment financially in foreign countries who threaten our national security. What in the hell is wrong with our government. They need to be held accountable and since they couldn’t make the tough decisions decades ago when they knew that our dependence on oil was getting us into trouble, their feet need to be held to the fire today. Someone needs to ask our elected officials these tough questions today.
The first question that needs to be asked is why a country like Brazil understood the importance of creating a clean alternative fuel and the United States of America didn’t? If it is working so well in Brazil right now why aren’t we trying it?

Question: Where is the world’s second largest Oil Reserves? It’s closer than many may think. CANADA!!! Canada is home to the world’s second largest Oil Reserve second only to Saudi Arabia. Sounds good because Canada is so close to America huh? WRONG!!!
First of all even though they hold the world’s second largest oil reserves Canada CANNOT produce enough to keep up with world demand if an oil crisis should occur. The same can be said for Saudi Arabia although they don’t want to admit it out loud.
Well the next thought is that naturally Canada would produce to the benefit of America since we are neighbors right?

China is in a strong partnership with the Canadian government to be their main importer of Canadian oil. Canada sees China as an economy that is growing to the point of America’s dependence oil. This is appealing to China to the point that Canada is building a pipe line from their oil fields to the coast specifically to export to China.

Why are you all up in arms about Rev. Wright’s comments? Get a freakin SPINE and stand up for something for once in your life. For us to be the strongest country in the world some of you sure are WEAK and easily frightened.
We have been conditioned to want everything to be all nice and pretty. To just forget what happened and to think that our children won’t have to deal with the same thing if we don’t confront it now. I for one say that if you as an American citizen is not willing to stand up and confront the wrongs that our country has done in the past, you as a parent are failing your children and placing this issue in their laps to deal with when they replace us. Why do you think we have to deal with it? We are dealing with it now because we have a cowardly Government who selfishly refused to deal with it up to now. Our government has never even acknowledged that slavery was wrong not to mention apologize for it. Study our country’s history and you will find that 99.9% of what Rev. Wright is saying is true for instance:

1) The only true citizens of this country are NATIVE AMERICANS (INDIANS). Europeans migrated here in the 1600s and KILLED, ENSLAVED and TERRORIZED Native Americans. Question for you who doubt the significance of this! Why is it that even though NATIVE AMERICANS were the first to occupy America they are one of the least in numbers population wise? TERRORISM!!
2) Africans were STOLEN away from their homes, families, countries, continent, and away from their true history by early slave traders and sold to the American Colonist between 1600s all the way up to 1808 when Congress banned the importation of slaves. Taking an entire culture of people away from their family and forcing them to work for free or die is what? TERRORISM!! From the 1600 all the way up to 1865 an entire ethnic group was held in slavery. That’s 265 years. And that’s just in the American Colonies. That doesn’t include the years before that when slavery was being instituted by European countries. But for America that 265 years, which is approximately 96,725 days being beaten, whipped, killed, have your children sold away from you, watching your wife being raped by old master, being TERRORIZED by someone. That is the pain and history that is inside the Black Church that our government doesn’t understand and refuses to acknowledge. If you as a parent refuse to open your eyes and confront it now and save your children the problem later then I am glad that you are not my parent and I think you are a sad excuse for a parent. You will never understand the plight of African Americans unless you open your eyes and walk in the shoes of the only history that African Americans can truly connect to. When our culture, heritage and connection to our ancestors was stolen away from us it was replaced by the ever lasting memory of slavery. Many people just say forget about it, just don't think about it, but it isn’t that easy because we have nothing to replace it with. Most White Americans can trace their origin back to some town or village in England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, etc. Most African Americans can trace their family history back to SLAVERY. That’s it. No further. SLAVERY. We have nothing to replace that night mare with but SLAVERY. You won’t hear much about this when you are learning history in school and that’s our biggest mistake. Not teaching our children.Unless we learn from our mistakes we are doomed to repeat them and as a country the only way to learn from our mistakes is to educate the next generation but we are too afraid to do that in our schools today. We only teach them the things that are nice and pretty. We don't educate them about the mistake that we made which would help them to not make those same mistakes. This si why so many people are angry about Rev. Wright now, because they were never taught the truth and because our government has never acknowledged it. So people are calling Rev. Wright racist because he is speaking the truth? Get the Hell out of here all of you who are wining and complaining because he is speaking the truth about our country. The biggest problem with our country is that we are afraid to look at our selves in the mirror. I say grow a pair and look at what we have become. If you don’t grow a pair you are only prolonging this problem for your children to deal with and a more hostile world.
3) Hiroshima and Nagasaki. August 6 and August 9 will mark the 60th anniversaries of the US atomic-bomb attacks on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In Hiroshima, an estimated 80,000 people were killed in a split second. Some 13 square kilometers of the city was obliterated. By December, at least another 70,000 people had died from radiation and injuries. Three days after Hiroshima's destruction, the US dropped an A-bomb on Nagasaki, resulting in the deaths of at least 70,000 people before the year was out. Since 1945, tens of thousands more residents of the two cities have continued to suffer and die from radiation-induced cancers, birth defects and still births. Yes! That’s our great country. But you won’t hear a lot of that in our history books in school. TERRORISM!!!
4) IRAQ. Not only did our wonderful government lie about the reason we were attacking Iraq, but we are still there under the same lie. LOL. What! And you all are attacking and blaming Rev. Wright for causing disturbance in the media? What!!?? What you need to be doing is making your government own up to what it is putting us through. Our government has historically CRAPED on the rest of the world in the good name of the American People. And we continue to allow it because many of us have been programmed to digest and believe anything that they tell us on Fox news and CNN. Just look at you. The mere fact that you are angry about the Rev. Wright issue proves that point. On the one hand Rev. Wright is stating historical facts and we are ready to crucify him. As I sit here day after day and follow the news coverage I am blown away that people still support this person to be the next President of the United States. WOW!! I can only guess what the rest of the world thinks about the thought process that her followers have. I could understand if she made a simple mistake or told one little white lie and corrected it. Not only does this lady tell blatant lies (BOSNIA SNIPER FIRE, NAFTA, PETER PAUL) she stands by them firmly until she is proven wrong, and then she still refuses to admit that she lied. I just don’t get it though. How could so many parents be willing to put this woman into office? It is shocking to think that women still support her. Her actions throughout this campaign season have done so much damage to feminist progression that one cannot even begin to explain it. Realistically women should be pissed at her. Even if she happens to steal the nomination from Barack Obama she will lose the General election because of the job that the GOP will do on her. Just imagine what that would do for future chances of a woman to get to this point again. Even as a man, when I think about that, it makes me feel bad. First she lies about receiving SNIPER FIRE in Bosnia while we have real soldiers in Iraq dying from real bullets and then she goes on Jay Leno and makes jokes and laughs about it. She goes on national television and says that her DEMOCRATIC opponent is less capable of being the President than the Republican Nominee, and the DNC and other members of the Democratic Party still believe that she could possibly have a chance to win the White House. They still believe that she could possibly be the best nominee to represent us in November. She has duped poor and middle class voters out of millions of dollars in contributions only for it to be revealed after that she is freakin loaded with cash. 109 million dollars over 8 years to be exact! Wow! And these people are still donating their money to this woman. When does the madness stop? What is wrong with our society? Do we not have any common sense at all? The scariest part of all of this is that we have a lot of Americans who want this woman to sit in the White House with her finger on the Red Button at 3:00 A.M. they want this woman to fix our economy when she can’t even pay her own campaign bills. Yes Barack Obama has been chosen to carry a burden that is a heavy burden to bear, but Barack is not the element here. Open your eyes people!! Barack Obama, with all do respect, is the instrument. He is the instrument; and the people, you and I, We are the element. We are the driving force behind this CHANGE. So many have become confused and consumed by specific issues that have arisen throughout this historic event. We all have a right to be excited; we have a right to be anxious and many have a right to be afraid. Why you ask? Because these are natural emotions that occur whenever there is a major CHANGE such as the one that we are experiencing right now. It's called CHANGE!!! And historically people are naturally afraid of CHANGE!!! Just look back throughout history. They fought against ending slavery (CHANGE). They fought against giving blacks equal rights (CHANGE). They fought against equal rights for the most precious living specimen on this planet WOMEN, WOMEN, WOMEN, WOMENS right to vote (CHANGE), WOMENS right at a fair chance in the work place (CHANGE) WOMENS right to choose (CHANGE)! I don't know why everyone is so surprised. We cannot mope around and cry because Sean Hannity is so mean and cruel or because Lou Dobbs is an idiot, or because Bill O’Reilly has no clue what he is talking about, or even because most of the media talking heads are afraid to tell the truth. We have to scream as loud as we can that we want CHANGE. We have to use the most powerful tool that our forefathers afforded us with the writing of our CONSTITUTION. With that document they gave us something that lives within all of us. They gave us AMERICA. I am America and you are America. We are America and when we make our voices heard that is America speaking. Your voice is America saying that they had better listen because she wants CHANGE. She wants to grow and if it is the will of the people She will grow. We have the power.Not Fox News! Not CNN! Not the DNC! Not even the President! We’re America and throughout history it’s been proven that when we speak; when we raise our voices; when that fire in our eyes is clearly visible from across the table, there’s no choice but to listen and adhere to what She (AMERICA) is saying. So I challenge you all to fight. This country was built on the simple vision of a small colony that decided to fight against amazing and seemingly insurmountable odds. This country was founded on what seemed to be the impossible and has continued to prosper on the inevitable promise of CHANGE! Stop sitting around complaining and wasting your time bickering about what they say cannot be done. Get out and act like real Americans and motivate your neighbor to raise his or her voice. Open your mouths and honor those that came before us that gave us this right to Freedom of Speech. Honor those Women that struggled so that we can have a woman running for President right now. Honor all the blacks that were beaten and killed so that blacks today can vote and have a fair and equal say in the direction of this country. Honor those men and women who fought and died so that we can have a BLACK MAN running for President. They’re all smiling down upon us right now, waiting to see what we will do. John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Alice Paul, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Jeannette Rankin, Malcolm X, Fredrick Douglas. They all fought for us and their voices were heard. Barack Obama has had an enormous burden placed on his shoulders, but again I say unto you Barack isn’t the ELEMENT, PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA is the INSTRUMENT. We’re the ELEMENT and as such we must make our selves heard, we must make our selves felt, we must FIGHT with our voices for our voices is the most powerful tool in America.
An Opportunity for Our Country to Grow! Will we let it pass us by?
I haven’t posted in a few days but I really have something to say as a soldier currently stationed in Iraq. The recent racial tone that this election has taken on is extremely unfortunate and honestly rivals some of the horrors of war that I have seen here in Iraq. It is unfortunate that we are seeing a racism that even today still bubbles just beneath the surface of the American psyche. It is saddening to see that there are those, to include the media, who will allow such disdain for a race to go unquestioned. Not only disdain for a race but disrespect for all of those Black and White before us who have fought and died to help us get passed this foolishness. Thanks to Keith Oberman for having the intestinal fortitude to actually speak out against this, and shame on you to the rest of mainstream media for allowing it to continue unquestioned. But on the same note it is FREIGHTENING to see that the DNC is allowing this to continue. They are allowing the Clinton campaign to split this party in half and disintegrate the best chance this country has to get past this racial silliness that has plagued America for hundreds of years. For what are you given such power as government officials if you are willing to cut off your own tongues when you see such blatant disrespect toward the history of the democratic process and unrelenting bravado in the face of the will of the people by the Clinton Campaign? PLEASE BEAR WITH ME AS I EXPLAIN. In relation to the rest of the world America is very young. Although we are the worlds lone Super Power our country is but in it’s teenage years of puberty and thus just beginning to realize its true potential as that lone Super Power. We are at a moment when we can turn an important corner in history as it relates to sexism and racism. What is destined to happen should we fail to realize and take advantage the opportunity that we have right now can only be described as CATASTROPHIC. Failing to realize and capitalize on this moment in history would turn back the hands of time immensely in the way that women and blacks are viewed. The comments of Geraldine Ferraro have begun the ticking of a time bomb that can only be stopped with the swearing in of Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. Should he not win the nomination and subsequently lose to Hillary she will not win the presidency simply because of the fact that she has turned so many whites as well as blacks away from her not only as a presidential candidate but also as a respectful person and woman. I know it hurts some people to hear it but this is true. The way that the Clinton campaign has been run is a slap in the face of women who have strived for so many years to gain equality. The way that Hillary Clinton has carried herself is a total disrespect to women today who have worked hard to close the earnings gap between men and women. With that being said John McCain would become the next President. Many would not like this, including me, but there is something even more disheartening than John McCain becoming the next President. What is more disheartening is when you look at the fact that this would push women and blacks back to the back of the pack. This would make it even harder for the next Woman, African American, Hispanic or Asian person to prove him self or her self to be worthy to be the president. Not only is it sad that the Clinton campaign is putting on a despicable show, as her own representation for the rest of the world to judge a women in power, what about what type of example she is setting for young intelligent girls that are watching her? Is this what we want our daughters to be seeing right now? Do we want our daughters to have the thought process that Hillary Clinton or Geraldine Farraro is displaying right now? I don’t think so. We truly have an opportunity to help this nation grow in a way that it has never grown. We have an opportunity to show the world that the United States isn’t a Hypocrite when we tell other nations about fair treatment of opposite sexes or different ethnic or religious backgrounds. Are we hypocrites? Well if the Clinton campaign is allowed to destroy this election the United States will lose much more credibility around the world when we advise other nations on how to view each other. The reckless nature of this campaign season has reopened the wounds of a past sexism and racism that I think many had forgotten about. I believe it is a good thing though simply because it gives us a true opportunity to confront it and finally wipe this sickness out of our great nation’s eyes. As a teenager we are all faced with challenges that test our moral and ethical strength. In our young lives we were often faced with decisions that would shape our view of ourselves and the view that others have on us for decades to come. What will we do in this time of crisis? Because yes I do believe that morally our country is at a critical juncture in history right now in this election season (A time of Crisis). When I hear Barack Obama speak I feel as though he is not only talking to me but he is speaking to my two little children, telling them that it is okay to have HOPE. I see a man who isn’t afraid to put all of the pettiness aside for a chance at something infinitely greater than us all. This is the kind of man that I want my children (JOSEPH and RUKIYA) to read about in history books years from now. So many people, including me, are hurt daily by Hillary Clinton’s attacks on this man. We all take it personally because we have become naturally protective of something that we see rightfully belongs to us. This MOVEMENT belongs to US the AMERICAN PEOPLE. This is our cause and this is our moment in history. This is our chance to make a difference not only in our life or the lives of our children, but we understand that what we do now is affecting the entire world. What we are seeing now is the birth, evolution, fruition of a dream that has been smoldering below the surface of our souls for so long. This flame has been kindling since Martin Luther King first thought about a more-free and equal society and said “I HAVE A DREAM”. It has been simmering somewhere deep within us since John F. Kennedy said “ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY”. This emotion that we are feeling right now; this desire to stand up for CHANGE that we feel is evident in us all. There are those who are afraid but that is natural also. Any type of CHANGE comes with doubters and naysayers. But the HOPE that Barack Obama embodies and has infected us with (YES I SAID INFECTED) can not be stopped by those who are afraid. It is our responsibility to pull those naysayers along. There are those who say that Barack Obama should go negative and bare the fangs. There are those who say that he should go after the Clintons with fury never before seen. God knows there is a lot of ammunition that he could use to not only destroys her campaign but possibly her life as she knows it today. But the thing that I admire about Barack Obama, and which fascinates me each time I hear him speak or I see the wonder in the eyes of some 50+ year old grandparent at his rally, is that Barack Obama understand that to bring about real CHANGE, he must stay true to himself. He must stay above the fray. He must stay true to the essence of this movement He must not stoop to the level that they are trying to get him to stoop to. Many of us don’t understand what the Clinton campaign is attempting to do. The reason why they are being so cruel and attacking Barack Obama at every turn is because they have no other weapon against this MOVEMENT. When the enemy or any animal is cornered and has nowhere else to turn, no other weapon to use, the last resort is to get us to fight the battle on their terms. They are trying to get Barack Obama to degrade them so that they can say hey look! Barack Obama is not about change, because he is stooping to the same levels of nonsense as the rest of us. So Barack Obama, continue to stay above the fray. I really want my son to read about this moment in history years from now and see the words written that you were the first President to became the most POWERFUL and INSPIRATIONAL, man of our time without beating someone else down to get there. THEY THREW STONES AT JESUS, SPIT ON HIM, NAILED HIM TO A CROSS, SPEARED HIM IN THE SIDE, AND WHAT DID JESUS DO WHILE HE WAS NAILED TO THAT CROSS? HE SAVED THE SOUL OF THE MAIN ON THE CROSS NEXT TO HIM. JESUS ENDURED ALL OF THIS FOR US, FOR OUR SINS. What Barack Obama and this campaign are going through now definitely CANNOT in any way compare to what our LORD and SAVIOR suffered through. When all is dark, one little speck of light will brighten any room. We are that light in that dark room which is the negativity that people are trying to cast upon us. WE cannot be silenced. The light in OUR lamps cannot be extinguished because our oil is full. WE are the ones WE have been waiting for. What many don’t understand is that WE have the attention of the world. There are so many who HOPE that this CHANGE is true. Well I, Tyrone Cortez Pinkins, am one to stand up now and say that I know this is true. This movement cannot be stopped!! OUR time is now!! Something within the American people has been awakened from deep within. WE as a people want to be better. WE want a better world As you all know I am currently deployed to Iraq and tonight I made a pledge. Each day it becomes more evident to me how important this movement for CHANGE is. IF NOT NOW WHEN? Since I cannot be there to help in this fight and beat the streets like so many of you, I pledge that I will donate to this cause for the rest of the days of this month day of this month. “STORY FROM MISSISSIPPI”
I was born in a small town in Mississippi called Rolling Fork. The town is so small that even today there is no traffic light, no McDonalds, no Wal-Mart, no Taco Bell, none of that. Everyone there knows everyone else. I grew up on a strip of land out in the country that has been apart of my family for generations now. All down the street lives aunts, uncles, cousins etc. I graduated from a class of about 75 students. My mother never graduated high school because she gave birth to me when she was 15. She had to leave high school in the 10th grade to take care of me. I owe all that I am today to her and her desire to try to give me a better chance at life than she got. My step dad, who raised me from the moment my mother gave birth, dropped out of school in the 6th grade and worked on a farm to take care of a child (ME) who wasn’t biologically his. TECHNICALLY I am supposed to be illiterate, a drunk, hooked on drugs, and probably in prison. Today I am fighting in Iraq proudly for the country that I love. I have two beautiful children (JOSEPH and RUKIYA) of my own, whom I love more than words could ever say. I am only a few classes away from finishing my Bachelor’s Degree because of On-Line courses I am taking from here in Iraq. Why have I been successful? It’s because of the HOPE that my mother and step father instilled in me. It wasn’t blind optimism, it wasn’t naivety, it’s wasn’t my parents telling me something that they didn’t believe themselves. It was them instilling in me what Barack Obama is instilling in a nation. HOPE! Something so simple but yet, at the same time so profound. HOPE! Something that starts as a ripple and swells into a tidal wave of Strong Optimism and fight for something better for all Americans.

A BLESSING IN DISGUISE
Alright! I called the Rev. Wright issue to a “T” last month see http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/tyronepinkins/gGBKTg . So I am going to put this BITTER thing in its place also. I’ll break it down so that it can forever be broke. So many people are focusing on the fall out because of Barack’s use of the word “BITTER” Well, I for one am glad that people are focusing on it and making so much of it. I am glad that he used the word bitter. The reason I know that it is “A BLESSING IN DISGUISE” is as follows.
Hillary Clinton and her hounds have jumped allover this thing like a black cat on a fat rat. Unfortunately for the Clinton Campaign this is about to come back and bite them in the ANUS in about two days. Actually it will be Wednesday during the debate. She will be asked about the bitter comment and she will again declare her stance on Barack’s use of the word bitter. Unfortunately for her Barack will tear her to pieces on national television in front of Pennsylvanians and also at the same time re-state why so many people are “BITTER” He has already given us a preview of ho when is going to respond when she steps into this pot-hole.

Next she has called Barack Obama an elitist! Wow! In my opinion Barack is sitting back “SALIVATING” as he waits for this debate. Again at the debate on Wednesday she will be asked why she believes he is an elitist and again she will shove her foot even further down her throat in response. Barack will tear her to pieces again when he compares their lives and asks who the real elitist here is.
And just to add insult to injury! Unfortunately all of us are forgetting that Bosnia and the Columbia Free Trade Agreement will come up in the debate also. She still has to answer those questions and not only will she look stupid when she says she doesn’t support CAFTA while her husband and Chief Strategist works in favor of the Columbians, but she will also again be labeled as a liar when the Bosnia Sniper Fire question resurfaces. Remember all of this stuff has happened since the last debate and is sure to resurface.
Ladies and Gentlemen ironically right now what we are witnessing is the “CALM BEFORE THE STORM!” There are so many odds stacked against Clinton in this next debate that I wouldn’t be surprised if she pulled out of the debate at the last minute. She is about to get slaughtered in a debate on national television one week before the Pennsylvania Primaries. So let them keep calling him an elitist. Let them keep talking about people being BITTER. All of this is just going to make this debate that much sweeter when we see all the EGG smeared on her face. It is clear that the pressure is getting to this woman. She is losing to a man that most Americans had never heard of until this year. THIS YEAR! We are only in the 4th month thus far! She is filthy rich and losing to a guy who is wealthy but doesn’t have nearly the political backing or establishment backing that she has. No matter how far ahead he gets, he’ll still be considered the underdog. I am typing this blog post with a smile on my face because I realize that although the media twists things up, most Americans aren’t as STUPID as the Clinton’s make us out to be. Surprisingly, there are millions still voting for Hillary (and I cannot figure out why) but it’s not nearly enough to win her the nomination. I really believe that this debate on Wednesday will win Pennsylvania for Obama. If the right questions are asked, not only will she continue to dig her own grave, but she will also choose the flowers, design the tomb stone and write the Eulogy for the ceremonious beheading of her political career.

I believe that the one thing that we as Obama supporters take for granted is that he truly understands what position he is in and understands what it is going to take to bridge the divide that keeps us separated socially and more important emotionally. He understands that the issue of RACE has to be brought to the forefront in order for this nation to truly heal. And when I say heal you have to look deeper into that word to see exactly what I mean and what I believe many African American Churches feel. Just like no WHITE PERSON will ever really know the STING of being called the word N***A. No BLACK PERSON can really understand why WHITES get so irritated by being constantly reminded of slavery, segregation, black civil rights etc. Rightfully, Whites today had nothing to do with those dark spots in American History. They had no say so in the decisions that there forefathers made. Things got better and they prospered and live in a great nation the United States of America.
The problem is that many either don’t want to believe that these opinions may be true or, more fittingly, refuse to acknowledge reality. And that reality is that we are realizing that we are more separate on this issue than we thought. Well here is a bulletin: there is a racial divide in America and it is not only between Blacks and White. It is also between Latinos and Blacks, White and Latinos, Native Americans and Whites. It is just that we have become accustomed to glossing things over and wishing and hoping that they will disappear. We don’t mind how many skeletons we have in the closet just as long as none of them jump out in the middle of the night. It is a nasty reality that unfortunately if we don’t confront as a society eventually it will consume us socially and cause we as a NATION to eat ourselves alive.
We can solve this problem of racism if only we are strong enough to confront it and talk about it. The thing that I admire about Barack Obama is that he is not afraid to confront difficult situations head on. This man is willing to stand in the middle of a thunderstorm and attempt to defuse the situation while at the same time running for the highest office in the world. What Audacity! Wow! This guy has the audacity to tell the American people that he is going to go on national television, in the middle of a presidential campaign and talk about, not one, but TWO of the most touchy subjects in AMERICAN HISTORY. You have to respect the man for the amount of moral and ethical courage that he embodies. A little secret about me. I consider myself a Christian. I don’t hate anyone and I TRY to treat everyone as I would like to be treated. But I think what we are seeing now can only be attested to the plans of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. How else can one describe the chain of events that have taken place recently? I believe that things happen for a reason. I do not believe in chance. I believe that the issues that are present right now in this campaign are present for a reason. And that reason is to give us an opportunity to repair a bridge that was battered and torn long ago by a racism and hatred that this country was built on.
Our country is at a crossroads now. Either we can close our eyes and wish all of this away. This would unfortunately make the situation even worse and push us back decades in our thought process about each other as far as race in concerned. Or we can come to terms with our past and talk about our differences like grown ups. It will be a shame if we as the strongest country in the world chooses to state that we are not able to remove the sunglasses that have been tinted with a hatred from days far gone and see the would, and each other in a brighter light. But as I keep stating, it is up to us. Barack is but an instrument, we the people are the element that can make this happen. We must make ourselves heard. What we have now in Barack Obama and this situation that stands before us is a Blessing in Disguise. We have a real opportunity to heal ourselves and become an even stronger nation than we already are. Take a moment and ponder the possibilities an America that is TRULY united across racial lines. Many people, especially on this blog say, “Just Stop Talking About It”! Well, respectfully, I would like to bring to your attention, the reason we are in this situation right now is because our not so smart Grand Parents and Great Grand Parents decided to “not talk about it”. If we don’t talk about it we will lose this election and Barack Obama will not become president because there will remain too much mis-trust, and resentment. Barack Obama has to gain America’s trust and unfortunately or fortunately, depending on which pair of glasses you are wearing, part of his gaining America’s trust is talking about something that this country has never ever experienced. I agree that we all should be anxious, nervous, excited, but we should be all of these things for a different reason though. Not because we are terrified but instead because we see the reality of what is absolutely possible. Although this is difficult, this CHANGE that we all speak of, that we all dream of, that we all thirst for is not only POSSIBLE but very much PROBABLE. Yes! It is difficult. But the reality that we all have to clear our eyes and see is that it rest in our hands. Yes Barack has been chosen to carry a burden that is a heavy burden to bear, but Barack is not the ELEMENT here. Open your eyes people!! Barack Obama, with all do respect is the INSTRUMENT. He is the INSTRUMENT and the people, you and I, We are the ELEMENT. We are the driving force behind this change.
The one constant throughout history is CHANGE! It is inevitable. CHANGE happens regardless of weather we want it or not. CHANGE occurs despite the strongest opposition. And when there are millions of voices screaming for CHANGE, there is no Media outlet, no Right Ring Swift Boating; nor Racial or Religious hatred that can possibly drown out these millions of voices. It’s unstoppable!
So we cannot sit around and pout because FOX news said this, or because CNN didn’t report that. We cannot mope around and cry because Sean Hannity is so mean and cruel or because Lou Dobbs is an idiot, or because Bill O’Reilly has no clue what he is talking about, or even because most of the media talking heads are afraid to tell the truth. We have to scream as loud as we can that we want CHANGE. We have to use the most powerful tool that our forefathers afforded us with the writing of our CONSTITUTION. With that document they gave us something that lives within all of us. They gave us AMERICA. I am America and you are America. We are America and when we make our voices heard that is America speaking. Your voice is America saying that they had better listen because she wants CHANGE. She wants to grow and if it is the will of the people She will grow. We have the power.
Not Fox News! Not CNN! Not the DNC! Not even the President! We’re America and throughout history it’s been proven that when we speak; when we raise our voices; when that fire in our eyes is clearly visible from across the table, there’s no choice but to listen and adhere to what She (AMERICA) is saying. So I challenge you all to fight. This country was built on the simple vision of a small colony that decided to fight against amazing and seemingly insurmountable odds. This country was founded on what seemed to be the impossible and has continued to prosper on the inevitable promise of CHANGE! Stop sitting around complaining and wasting your time bickering about what they say cannot be done. Get out and act like real Americans and motivate your neighbor to raise his or her voice. Let your voice be heard, literally get out of your house and let your voice be heard. This is a country of free speech. Let your government, your neighbors, your barber, your butcher, your sister, your brother, let them know that you want CHANGE, that AMERICA wants change. Open your mouths and honor those that came before us that gave us this right to Freedom of Speech. Honor those Women that struggled so that we can have a woman running for President right now. Honor all the blacks that were beaten and killed so that blacks today can vote and have a fair and equal say in the direction of this country. Honor those men and women who fought and died so that we can have a BLACK MAN running for President. They’re all smiling down upon us right now, waiting to see what we will do. John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Alice Paul, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Jeannette Rankin, Malcolm X, Fredrick Douglas. They all fought for us and their voices were heard. Barack Obama has had an enormous burden placed on his shoulders, but again I say unto you Barack isn’t the ELEMENT, PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA is the INSTRUMENT. We’re the ELEMENT and as such we must make our selves heard, we must make our selves felt, we must FIGHT with our voices for our voices is the most powerful tool in America.
