Got to spend a couple of hours the last two days over at the Chicago Obama office making calls. It was such a thrill to be in a real campaign office since we don't have any yet in NYC. But, I wasn't the only person from out of town. For exactly, last night I made calls with Moe from CT. We were both so excited be there that Moe and I were taking pictures with his regular camera and video camera as well. We were calling folks to canvass in Wisconsin and other battleground states. I highly encourage anyone who can to head on down to a campaign office and make a few calls. The energy is ineffectious!
I just finished volunteering at my last voter registration event at work. We are taking the completed forms down to the Board of Elections on Monday. Because this has been a campus wide effort, I don't know our final numbers.
However, I just learned that the college democrats went through the dorms last night and registered 700 new voters. How exciting!
Had an absolutely great time registering people to vote this week. Since my university is so diverse, we had tons of students from out of state. Hadn't out flyers on how to request absentee ballots and how to check if in fact they were actually registered. It is so easy to do and I encourage everyone to do try it out. I don't have registration totals, but will post when I get the information.
We had our first voter registration drive yesterday during lunch. I work at a University and we manned a table during a club fair. Signed up 21 new voters in a little over an hour, which was great. More importantly, we handed out tons of flyers to students from out of state on how to vote absentee ballot.
Next event will be Tuesday, Sept 2. Our goal is to get 100 new voters registered by Sept 4!
Last week I submitted a request to have a voter registration table at my university. It will be manned during a New Student Orientation Club Fair next Thursday 8/28. Today, I got the approval and am so thrilled. We already have about 10 volunteers and it is only a 2 hour event. I am so excited about Obama accepting the nomination next week and I can't imagine a better date to participate in my first official voter registration event.
Go Obama!
