I attended my US Representative's Meeting after being very upset about the recent activist mob take over opposition at the townhall meetings. I really was very nervous about attending and didn't know if it could be of any help but opposed to the idea of our freedom to meet and discuss issues being thwarted. I found a link on the OFA site showing local meeting sites. I decided to go as a means of helping my Congressman.
I went and was pleasantly surprised that Rep. Kurt Schrader had a meeting that was a one on one talk to him meeting. The format did not condone any speakouts just in how it was run. We signed in with our name and address and other pertinent info along with a comment box on what your concern was. I put in keeping a Public Option and the other Obama preferences. When the lady telling the Constituents to get ready to go up to the table with the Rep came to find me I asked her about if there had been rowdiness at any of his meetings? She said not with the one on one format. She said the people there that were not constituents were at the back of the room and would only get to see the Rep if he finished with all of the constituents with time left over. It didn't appear he would have time left over from the number of people in the room. When I did get my turn and mentioned keeping the Public Option in the bill he said lots of people were expressing that same desire. All in all it was orderly and I felt encouraged by his statement. I'm glad I went.
I am becoming mad or maybe frustrated is more appropriate. I normally listen to the Liberal radio station here in the morning as the political tv stations lean too far right for my liking. This morning all I hear is how President Obama has done a turn around on torture by not releasing the additional photos showing torture. My take on it is that it is not a turn around. I voted for him to make judgment calls that I am unable to make with where I am and without the information needed. Of course I do not give him free rein since look what happened with GW Bush. However, PBO has not led me to believe by any other actions that he is supporting torture. He is in a better place than we are to see if releasing the photos will hurt our soldiers that are currently in war. I elected him due to his judgment and continue my support.
I was listening to Carl and Christine on the morning talk show debate this issue with call-ins supporting both sides of the issue. Carl was demanding the release of the photos to put all in the light of day. Christine was saying that pictures arouse emotions and it could put our soldiers fighting and those captured in a bad situation. She was not against using them in a trial only not in releasing them for the public. There are enough photos out now to know that torture was done. The inquiry is also voicing the situation. I am in agreement with Christine. I totally oppose torture and want those who promoted/ordered it to have consequences. Yet, I know our soldiers are currently fighting in wars and they could suffer the consequences of inflamed feelings making their job more dangerous than it already is. I agree with Christine that once the war is over all material including the photos should be released. The important thing is to change the direction so we are not continuing to torture prisoners.
I have become incredibly interested in Presidential history after campaigning for Obama these past two years. I had US history classes through school including college but never really had a class that completed up to the current time. I am doing an informal study myself with videos since I can continue my craftwork while watching. I have searched my Netflix and my tivo scheduling to find movies and documentaries about the Presidents and sometimes cabinet members to watch in consecutive order. I have just completed through Jefferson. I did notice that George Washington made it a point to treat the prisoners of war well. He even had British soldiers turning themselves over to him since they knew they would be treated humanely. To me the fact that the humane treatment of prisoners began with our first President is important. It needs to be continued and should not end now. Yet it is a balancing act as far as keeping our soldiers safe. The photos should be presented at trial and released to the public at a later date when we are not at war.
I watched the Cramer/Stewart confrontation on the Jon Stewart Show aka The Daily Show last night. My reaction? Way to go, Jon! Jon was gutsy and relentless in confronting Jim Cramer from CNBC's Mad Money Show. Jon had a video clip I saw a link of on the Obama blog a couple of nights prior to the "Match-up". Jon would ask a question let Cramer hang himself with his answer then play a clip from the video that spoke for itself. Jon told Cramer that he was dishonest in having guests on and not checking out their stories. He said that promoted the wealthy corporations and Wall Street greed over the average American losing his pension to the greedy dishonest ways of Wall Street. I was elated it turned out that Stewart was so aggressive.
Today on the radio of a local progressive station I was listening to I caught the news broadcast. It was pathetic in that they took the least offensive thing Cramer said to make it like he would check into his guests statements more. I hope someone checks into the legality of what Cramer actually did since the tape had him say he participated in illegal acts and thought it was FUN. Stewart did not broadcast that part of the tape but it was evident without that part.
I am elated with President Obama's speech to Congress tonight. It was all it could have possibly been. I guess the MSM will make up things to criticize but I was totally in agreement with what he said and how he said it. He was brilliant!

The points of emphasis for improving our Nation that I totally agree with are on his agenda. My prayers are for his safety and for his success to bring us out of this bad economic time and improve our country's future.
Cara and I left her rowhouse on SE 13th St at 6am on Tuesday the 20th for the Inauguration. It was only 22 degrees out that morning and warmed to 27 degrees that day. The windchill factor made it 11 to 17 degrees. We wrapped our faces with scarves over our noses and had hats pulled down to our eyebrows. I had the tickets in a manilla envelope and a cane I had sent to Cara so I could use the fold-down seat on it incase I couldn't stand that long. When we got close to the Capitol we found we needed to take the detour towards the Silver Gate where we were to enter. At that place the crowd thickened and walking became difficult. Cara held my hand and guided me along towards the Silver Gate. It was difficult to see any signs of any kind since many people were taller than myself. The crowd spread from one sidewalk across the street to the other sidewalk. We were so close together that it was even hard to look down and see any ground by my feet. You would hear voices in the crowd yell, "Curb" or "Step down". I was lucky to have the cane to feel the ground to see when to step down. We saw some people in a string holding hands cut through the crowd trying to find another gate. I was glad I was not going against the tide like them.
When we got to the gate around 7am or slightly after we went through the security and had a pat down with our coat open. We noticed sharpshooters on all of the building rooftops. We decided to pick a spot near the first Jumbotron. Glad we did that so we had an easy place to see what was happening. My feet got so cold they felt like ice so I sat down on my cane until my hip was too cold then I would stand again. The people around us were all friendly and helpful. It was so exciting to be part of the crowd with all of us responding in one voice. The roar after the Swearing-in was spectacular. It was louder than the 21 gun salute. Cara and I decided to go back to her place afterwards so we could warm up for the evening All American Ball at the Westin Hotel. By evenings end we were so very tired. Our Ball was not an official Ball so we did not see the Obamas. Cara took a pic of me next to the Obama lifesize poster though. Great time, but COLD.
Yesterday, I was fortunate to be at our President's Inauguration. I was in the Silver Section of the ticketed area. My daughter and I were very near the first big Jumbotron. It was directly across from the American Indian Museum directly infront of the National Mall unticketed area. I had thought we would be much closer but realized the closeness factor was all in what you compared it with. The Washington Monument end of the Mall would have thought we were really close. I found when you are in a crowd on flat ground you cannot really see well anyway unless you are very tall. That made the screen really worthwhile.
The experience of being at the Inauguration is one I will never forget. It certainly was historic. There also was an infectious air of excitement in the air, a real sense of change coming. The moment of the swearing-in seemed to be the moment of change incarnate. The roars of the crowd even diminished the 21 gun salute. I'll blog more about it later.
Tomorrow morning I leave for my trip to DC. I will be staying with my daughter for two weeks and we will be attending the Inauguration with tickets I won in the lottery drawing from my Oregon Senator's Office and an Inaugural Ball that my daughter gave me for my Xmas present. I hardly realized a week has passed since I got the email telling me I got the tickets to the Inauguration.
We have been working through the logistics of getting to the Capitol from my daughter's home. That is a biggie since she doesn't live that close and we figure the Metro will be full with all of the people getting on at the end of the line. I sent a cane with a seat on it to her place a month or so ago so I do have that option for the standing part of it. I am 62 and not sure I can stand that long now. We figure we can drive to the Ball if we get there early and pay the $35 valet parking fee for that.
Gotta go do the last minute things needed. I will get up at 5am in the morning to drive about an hour to get to Salem to catch the Shuttle that will be 1 and 1/2 hours to the airport. I will fly to Seattle and only have about a half hour to catch my next flight to DC. All in all I will arrive at almost 10pm (which would be 7pm Pacific time). I scheduled this a week ahead incase of weather related flight problems. I will need to pick up my Inaugural tickets at the Senate Building in DC on Monday the 19th. I am sooooooo excited. I haven't quit being excited.
I do get annoyed by the naysayers and critics. I am just grateful that Obama is willing to serve his Country to try to help get us out of this mess. It seems everyone just stood by when we got into this mess and now they just _itch about every little thing if it isn't how they want it to be. Then they want to totally discredit everything for that one little thing. It will not all be as each of us wants it to be. Also we wanted him to put together a group of experts listen to them and use his intellect to make his best decision. That is what we need to do after putting in our ideas and input. Go Obama! Yes We Can!!
I am sooo excited I can hardly contain myself. I feel like it is Election Night all over again and Obama has just been declared the winner. Only this time my daughter and I are the winners. I checked my email and found a message from Ron Wyden's Office. I had been chosen in the lottery from thousands for two tickets to the Inaugural Swearing-In-Ceremony. Yes, Yes, Yes!@!!!!!!!!
I had decided to visit my daughter in DC for two weeks in January prior to the election. I put my name in for tickets with my Senator's office about 6 weeks prior to the election but was disappointed when I heard they had decided to hold a lottery instead of first come first served for tickets. I figured no way to get them when they had thousands of requests. Thank you GOD. I am so blessed!!!!
I leave next week since the Inauguration is smack in the middle of my two week visit. I booked my flight months ago with my airmiles and will stay with my daughter in DC. She got me a ticket to a Ball for my Xmas present. So if we can get around okay we should be both at the Inauguration and one of the Balls. What a dream!!!
I have been listening to the progressive radio station while doing some house chores this morning and letting my mind wander. I know that Barack has had UNITY for his major theme throughout the campaigns these last two years. He has talked about the fact that we need to get something done instead of this division and stalemate that has been going on in government lately. He wrote and spoke about coming together with common things we do agree about and being respectful as to where we disagree.
I am seeing the bigger picture of both sides hearing the message, but not getting it. There are expectations on Obama that he will be a leftist and any time he agrees with something on the right side he is saddled with the saying that he is moving to the center. I say if people read his words and looked at the history of his voting records they would see that he has seen things from both sides as being useful his entire political life. People are not used to listening to a politician and believing what they say so they second guess everything.
The opposition is so busy trying to paint the opponent as the enemy and projecting what they will do to lock down their own votes that they cannot possibly imagine a person saying and doing what they mean. Meanwhile the supportive side is so busy trying to get their agenda met that they are instantly upset when their agenda is not totally met in everyway they think it should be. They assume their guy is not the President for the other side too. Do they forget that Obama has totally said we need to be respectful of one another, to listen to everyone and that one political party does not have all of the answers? I sometimes wonder if we have been so used to fighting each other that we do not recognize what UNITY looks like? If we are wanting a better government we need to bring everyone into the picture and do what is best for the United States of America. If it is not decided to do things our way then so be it. Having the conversation is important. It takes awhile to bring about CHANGE. We need to move towards change and be part of the voices Obama hears. I know my parents have always been very set in their ways. When I say something they immediately disagreed with me and told me their answer. Then in awhile I would hear them adopt my idea as their own never remembering that I had said it earlier. I think it takes awhile for some people to come around.
My biggest hope is that people on both sides give Obama a chance. He has so much on his plate that I will be happy if he can get SOME of it done, especially our economy back on track. I would like to see the gridlock in government CHANGED so something can change. I wonder if we can achieve UNITY? I pray that we can overcome our need to divide.
It is January 1st, 2009. This is the year of Obama. Right on! I am excited and planning to go to DC January 14th through the 27th. I'll be staying with my daughter who is a lawyer at a law firm there for a visit. She got me a ticket to an Inaugural Ball for my Xmas present and we will attend together. I just ordered some clothes for it. I am quite excited. I figure I have next to no chance for an Inauguration ticket so will need to be in the crowd of millions with my daughter. She said we would need to walk from her house and I am not even sure I can walk that far. Hope I can. To go to the Inauguration during the day and do the ball at night is overload for me but it is exciting.
I found a little brass candleholder and bought enough to give ten out to family and friends. It has the words hope cut out on each side so when the candle or tea light burns it will show through. I have asked the recipients to use it the next four years for special prayers for the Obamas safety and our country's hope of return to good days for the middle class.
Today is the 18th and the postings are on the 15th right now. Weird!!! I looked earlier today and it had two or three other posts listed atleast up to the 17th.
I am sorry that so many are criticizing Obama's choice of Rick Warren. It sure would not have worked to have chosen Jeremiah Wright. I guess as pastors go it is hard to pick one that will not be criticized for saying controversial things. I did get that the civility issue and reaching out to others was a point Obama made during his entire campaign. I also get that Obama always supported gay rights just not marriage. I wonder if there is any pastor that could be picked and liked by all?
I do know that when my family lived in Juneau, AK we had a Catholic Bishop named Michael Kenny that was loved by all. He was controversial in his own church though and had ideas that were not traditional as he believed women should be able to be heads of church also and that married priests should be allowed. Anyhow it was a joke that if he continued to be so vocal that he would be the Bishop for SE AK forever and never move up any further in rank. Alas the good die young as Bishop Kenny died in his early 50s when he was on a trip to Israel from a brain aneurisym. We had to hold his funeral in the biggest gym in Juneau with people gathered outside the gym that there was no more room for. There were lots and lots of Bishops, Cardinals, priests and parishioners, and regular people attending and from all over the world. He touched many people. We all were teary eyed at the ceremony. He was buried in the vault of the Shrine of St. Terese, the spot he felt was the most beautiful of all.
The reason he was beloved was his love for others. He always remembered names of people he met as an example I remember at Xmas one year we introduced our Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law as visitors and two years later he spoke to them by name. One time when we were driving up to the church my daughters who were to be alter servers that day said, "Oh no, it is Bishop Kenny today!" They usually had a regular priest to serve for. I said, "I thought you liked Bishop Kenny?" They said, "We do, but he changes things and we really don't know what he wants us to do!" That explains why my youngest shook her head NO one time when he wiggled his finger to get her to go to him during mass, much to my chagrin. He would always go to her dance performances when she asked him. He attended all the high school plays and was always saved a front and center seat. Did I say it was a public high school? He was asked to be a guest speaker at the high school once when he came back from Iran. Bishop Kenny decided to go himself and he got two prisoners released. Another black mark on his record from the church! Did I tell you he was a gourmet cook and he prepared the marriage preparers of which my husband and I were part of a Valentines Day dinner each year as a thank you for our service? He always showed us appreciation. He was a jogger and you could see him jogging regularly on the rainy roads in Juneau. He was a private pilot and flew to all of SE to serve masses, funerals, wedding etc. He was a wonderful vocalist and you could catch him singing from the top of his voice at the top of Mt. Juneau if you happened to hike up there the same day he did. He spoke eloquently, passionately and in an inspiring manner at masses. He met with the Youth Group many times at his own place. He took the youth group to Denver when the Pope was there for World Youth Week. Bishop Kenny was the only Bishop there that camped with the students attending in the 100 degree weather instead of being in the hotel in air conditioning. These are some of the many reasons that Bishop Kenny was loved by us and was a role model for us. I am sure someone would find reasons not to approve of him but we didn't nor did the citizens of Juneau.
One year when we were showing family the Shrine of St. Terese at Thanksgiving time my husband saw a sign there as to the fact that the Knights of Columbus were building a Columbarium Wall there on the Island. My husband said what a beautiful peaceful place that was and it would be near Bishop Kenny's final resting place! I remembered his explanation a mere 6 weeks later at my husband's sudden death in deciding to have him put to rest in that wall with my own resting place to be next to him hopefully many years down the road.
I see in Barack Obama many of the same qualities I saw in Bishop Kenny. It is rare to see people that truly care about others and dedicate their lives to help others.
I am getting ready for Xmas. This year I am grateful that we have Obama as the PE. I will be hosting two of my four grown children and one daughter-in-law here for Xmas besides my sister-in-law from my late husband. I live next door to one of my brothers and my Mom.
I am currently helping care for my Mom who broke her leg a little more than a month ago. Actually it was a week before the Election. She broke it in four places. She was taken to the hospital. They decided to try to see if it would heal without surgery since she has Osteoporosis and the doctor did not think the normal surgical procedure would work with her. Mom is also grieving the loss of her husband after 64 years of marriage. He died in May. I decided it was important to be here for Xmas this year so she was not alone. I will be driving up to Fife, WA on Xmas morning when my other brother and his wife arrive. I saw them at Thanksgiving and will be sorry to miss them at Xmas. I do need to drive up to see my other son and his wife and my granddaughter on Xmas Day. My other kids will be going up to see their brother too. My fourth child will be in China again this Xmas and I miss her.
I got little metal candle holders with the word hope cut out of them for my Obama supporters in my family for Xmas. I wrote a note to put in it about lighting it on Inauguration Day and at other events for the next four or eight years when Barack needs our prayers or positive thoughts. I got one for myself of course, my oldest son and his wife, my second son and his wife, my daughter, and my Mom and brother, my sister-in-law, my daughter-in-laws' parents and her sister. My oldest brother and his wife did not get one, but if they convert later I may get them one. I didn't get one for my daughter in China although she did vote for Barack. I figure if we all do this on the same day it will be like a lot of hope and positive thoughts for Obama.
I still have not gotten the t-shirts I have ordered through fundraisers. The first one was a post election fundraiser with words on the front and on the back of it. I think I ordered it the week after the election but didn't keep my email order conformation. Darn! I also ordered the t-shirt listed on the site now with the pics on both Obama and Biden. Last of all I ordered a fleece through the DNC a couple of days ago. I always figured it was better to get something for my donations vs just donations. :) :)
The excitement has not ended yet for me. Barack Hussein Obama won the General Election last night. Much of our Nation was extremely excited to see him elected. I cried, jumped up and down, screamed, clapped and was overwhelmed with happiness to hear that he had reached the 270 needed electoral votes. All that done by myself in my own little home. He reached the win prior to 9pm Pacific Time. He went way past the number of votes needed and is at 345 right now with one state not done counting and some votes still not counted yet. Shortly after hearing it I called my son, Steve and got his message on his cell so I called Kisha who answered. I think she and I startled my granddaughter, Tyra because we both proceeded to just scream on the phone at the same time. We were crying and screaming. Then we told Tyra why. I had given Tyra a postcard with a painting I had done of Barack a couple of weeks ago when I stopped in to see them on my way home. She taped it up in her bedroom on the wall and I told her she might have a painting of the next POTUS if he won. So she got it! The strange part is my son Steve seemed to be on his cellphone doing an interview for a job. I hope the person was a Democrat with all of the screaming we did! I called and emailed friends all night about the win.
Today I met a friend I met on this Obama blog for lunch. We live around an hour from each other and answered each others blogsite during the GE. We then decided to meet and did a couple of weeks ago. Then we set the day after the election to meet again. It was fun to be able to celebrate. I had dessert first instead of last as a treat. I wore my Obama t-shirt and buttons. The other patrons smiled and did thumbs up when they entered the restaurant. I think lots of people voted for Barack and were quite happy today. I know Oregon voted for him.
My niece emailed me last night that she was excited Obama had won. When she came to visit my Mom earlier in the GE I gave her one of the postcards I carry around with me with my handwritten messages on it of why I support Obama and included the websites on it. She said after seeing how enthused I was about Obama she looked up the info and decided to support him too. That was encouraging. My granddaughter is 6 and she called me today after her Mom and I were screaming last night. She told me President Obama's girls were going to get a puppy. We talked about that. I knew she wanted a puppy but they live in a condo with no yard and both parents work so that would not happen. Then she went on to tell me about this toy dog that looks real and uses batteries. Apparently it sleeps and breathes. We talked about it being easier to take care of than a real dog. She decided people would think it was real and pet it while it still slept. I think she would have rather had a real dog like Sasha and Malea (sp?). She also proceeded to tell me about past Presidents' pets. I saw a similar news show about it so got what she was talking about better.
I am so proud to be part of this movement and know Barack is the best person to try to get us out of this mess and change our Country for the better. It is about time to have a smart person lead us.
I have spent the day shepherding my Mom from the critical care unit so have not had a chance to worry much. I voted very early and so did my Mom and brother that I convinced to vote for Obama. YAY! I heard she may not need surgery and in another week will get a hardcast if the ankle is not knocked out of alignment.
Got home around 6pm Pacific Time so am watching voting projections and so far am happy about them. The park in Chicago is filling up with people to celebrate a win. Hope that is what happens. I am holding my breath. We may be doing it! YAY!!!!!!! I cannot say how good it feels after 22 months of wanting this more than anything I ever remember wanting before.
I love my Obama friends. We just got Iowa!!!!! This is soooooo exciting!!
I just watched Barack's ad time 30 minute spot. I loved it and wish these people that think he is Communist, Marxist, and a Socialist would watch it too. I have not been home to see tv all day.
My Mom being in the hospital and thinking she was going to have surgery today. She broke four bones in her leg and needed her ankle and foot bones realigned. Mom is 84 and has osteoporosis. My brother and I were worried for her. The doctor came down to her room a couple of hours late from the scheduled time for surgery. He said after looking at the second set of xrays he decided he would wait and see if the bones would mend without the surgery. If it didn't work he could operate later. That really relieved her and us too. However she will be in a rehabilitation center to get her mobility back without misaligning her foot from the ankle.
Due to being needed by my Mom now I will be away from the tv, computer, phone and campaign related activities for awhile. I am so glad we already voted since we voted early. Like I said in an earlier blog posting you never know so vote early.
Monday, October 20th, 2008 is the day I voted for Barack Hussein Obama for the President of the United States. YAY!!
I had inadvertently forgotten to put the ballot in the secrecy envelope before putting it into the mailing envelope. I took it to the County Courthouse and asked if I needed to do anything or if it would be accepted as is. It was fine without the secrecy envelope. I was glad I did not have to initiate a new ballot to be sent to me in the mail.
I was so sorry to hear that Barack's Grandma was very sick and he needs to leave his campaign at this crucial time to be near her for a couple of days. I hope we can all fill in for him and he will not lose the lead he has been building of late. There are only 14 more days to go so it is not the best time. It shows he has put family first though. To me that is knowing his priorities. I respect that.
I hope we can find Colin Powell's email address so we can email him thanks for his eloquent endorsement of Obama for President. He took a hit for doing it. It was even dismissed as him only voting for a Black man.
Drats!! I have been waiting and waiting for my ballot to come in the mail. So it came today! Yay! I was ready to vote immediately having gone through my issues and candidate pamphlets ahead of time and having chosen the issues and candidates I planned to vote for and was ready to vote. Yes! I completed my ballot, signed my envelope. Then when I put my ballot into the envelope and sealed it I realized I had not put the ballot in the secret privacy envelope first. STUPID! Now if I try to unseal the outside envelope it will definitely look as if it has been tampered with. Drats!!
I planned to drive it in to the Court House instead of sending it through the mail or dropping it in the drop off box on Monday. I had already decided that earlier when I thought about it not arriving in the mail or a fire bomb or match possibly destroying it in the drop off box. So you can see I was being ultra careful about it. Now I will need to ask if I need to request a new ballot or if I can open the outer envelope and put the ballot in the secrecy envelope? The other alternative is to request a new ballot be sent to me which I do not wish to happen if I can avoid that measure. Like I said Drats!! A simple experience was compromised by my carelessness in my eagerness to vote.
I'll be gone for a few days next week so I hope this does not interfere with my vote getting in as quickly and carefully as possible. Sounds like Obama's plan for Iraq!
Today is the day after the final debate. I congratulate Barack and the Campaigners. Thank you and also the Obama family for "taking it." It is totally unfair to Barack and his family and for all of us that support Barack, his family, Joe Biden and his family too. It is not right to have racial overtones and baiting in the other campaign. It is dangerous. It can stir up hatred and potential crimes. John Lewis was right and I am glad Obama's reply was appropriate instead of denouncing Mr. Lewis. I also have been hearing the robocalls disparaging Barack. They go on as if they never heard the truth. Lies continue on. I pray this time the negative attacks do not work.
I am watching some charity fundraising event that both Barack and McCain are at and McCain is speaking at it right now. He is actually doing quite well and complimenting Obama. Wow!! John McCain is very funny. I have not seen that side of him in this campaign. Hope this isn't a comeback event for him. Barack is up now and it is to be a funny speech and McCain set him up to fail by saying it would be the funniest 15 minutes ever. I'm watching Rachel Maddow so hope they keep it on so I can hear his speech. The speech writer or Barack actually made a funny 15 minute speech for Barack with lots of political jokes in it.
It is good to see them being able to laugh together. Guess this is a good counter for the beginning of my post. Maybe we can get beyond the next two weeks. I take heart in their joking with each other. I plan to continue working for Obama in the next two weeks. I got my voters pamphlet today and the ballots get sent out tomorrow. I should get it early next week or sooner. I plan to vote immediately upon receiving it as I have said in earlier posts one never knows when their time on Earth is over and I want to be sure I have left it a better place by voting for Obama.
I am thrilled with Barack's performance tonight in the final debate. He was smooth, cool, and delivered the needed third debate to the undecideds. He spoke concisely and laid out his issues plainly for the Americans to hear. He was respectful and had a Presidential tone in the debate. I was proud of him.
John McCain was aggressive as he needed to be and presented his issues as he had not done before. Yet he seemed ruffled, frustrated, angry, repetitive, and had difficulty speaking his words without messing up. I did not think he looked Presidential. He looked frantic and lost.
I was very proud that my lawyer daughter living in DC took my advise and called her local Obama campaign center there after I got her the phone numbers and website and volunteered her service on election day to help in N. VA at a polling place. Guess she has a training day ahead of time. I know she was already contributing money to the campaign. I am glad to think we have lawyers out there watching the polls on voting day. We really need to be sure we do not lose this to voter fraud.
I had a call from a guy from the Obama campaign asking for another donation. When Patrick talked to me from AZ he realized I am very involved with the campaign and donate regularly and increase my donations whenever I can. He also found out how all of my grown kids and their spouses are supporting Obama and that I convinced my Mom (I hope), brother and others to go for Barack. I will try to look into my budget to see if I can come up with another contribution in honor of Barack's debate.
