The Politico reports that Obama will focus his sizable resources on fourteen states Bush won in 2004. Even in states he'll almost certainly lose, like Texas and Wyoming, Obama thinks he can help down-ticket Dems. Campaign manager Steve Hildebrand says:
"Texas is a great example where we might not be able to win the state, but we want to pay a lot of attention to it. It's one of the most important redistricting opportunities in the country . . . If we can register more Democrats, if we can increase the Democratic performance and turnout, maybe we can pick up a congressional seat."
Since 1968 (10 elections), Texas has only voted Democratic 2 times. “It’s time for a change" Texas. We can help elect the next Democratic President. Texas has over 17 million people that are of voting age. Over 12 million Texans are registered to vote. Talk to all your Texas friends and family members; let them know they still have a chance to vote. The last day to register for the general election is October 6, 2008. Texas has the 2nd highest Electoral College votes with 34. Unlike the DEM primary, the general election is winner-take-all, so if DEM cast more popular votes than REP, our DEM Presidential nominee will get all 34 electoral votes in Texas. In 2004 over 7 million DEM and REP combined, turned out to vote in the general election. Texas DEM can shatter 7 million alone. In the 2008 primary 2,874,986 registered DEM voted and 1,362,322 registered REP voted. If each DEM that voted in the primary will commit to voting DEM in the general election and get at least 3 more people that didn't vote in the primary to register and go to the polls we'll have at least 8,624,958 people voting as DEM. Dates to remember - Sep 5 to Oct 28 (apply for ballot by mail if eligible*), Oct 6 (last day to register to vote), Oct 20 to Oct 31 (early voting*) and NOV 4TH **BARACK THE VOTE** DEM!!!! *Please go to this link for Voter’s FAQ: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/pamphlets/faqs.shtml
