Former S.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice Ernest Finney on Friday endorsed U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for president. Finney, the first black chief justice of the state’s highest court, made his announcement while campaigning with Obama in Clarendon County.
Obama has also been endorsed by former state Sen. Herbert Fielding and former state Rep. I.S. Leevy Johnson, two of the first three African Americans elected to the General Assembly since Reconstruction.

Ms. Yolanda King, daughter of slained Civil Rights activists Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King; Yolanda was a woman who set her own direction.
