The final presidential debate

Last night, Mom and I watched the final presidential debate. And once again, Obama and McCain went at each other. To tell you the truth, Mom and I are not sure who won this debate. Though I have a feeling that Obama once again did a better job. But I don't agree on everything he says, I DO agree on most of what he says. One funny thing McCain called Obama was "Senator Government". And this next part is very important. During the debate, one of the candidates (And I forget which one) said that at McCain's rallies, people in the crowd were shouting some very nasty and bloodthirsty things about Obama whenever he was mentioned. And one thing I heard mentioned got me and my Mom very upset indeed! "Kill him" referring to Obama was one of the things that the candidates pointed out during a topic about whether or not the candidates flame (Insult) each other with their ads and during their campaigns. My Mom and I could not believe our ears when we heard that some Republican voters would even have the gaul to even think such a thing as to want to kill Barack Obama! I mean that is a very horrible and morbid thought and thing to say! And yes, I must refer to the many assasinations that occured in the past. Most notably that of Martin Luther King Jr. If something like that should ever happen in this country, then Mom and I are leaving...For good!

Obama attacks McCain during a campaign speech

Soon after the second debate, my Mom and I were shocked and amazed to see Obama on TV telling everyone the truth about just how different Obama and McCain are from each other. He also told everyone that the change he would bring would be both promising and powerful! Now, I don't know what McCain and Palin were doing at this time, but Barack Obama sure can make a good speech, despite what some people may think. Now that's what I call a powerful attack!

The second presidential debate

Here is my take on the second presidential debate. It was in a different location this time, but the rules were basically the same. The audience could only cheer or applaud when Obama and McCain came onstage, unless they were asking them a question. And so, the debate began. And it seems that John McCain was a little more firendly than usual. My way of thinking is that judging by the way he was talking (And he was beginning to sound a lot like Barack Obama), he may have been trying to sound like Obama to try and score points with some voters. But all during the debate, he kept on saying the same phrase: "My friends". I know he might have a few friends, but really...Even though he and Obama have several disagreements and differences among the issues of America, McCain was sounding a little too friendly for his own good. And in case I didn't mention this in the previous debate, he has a tendancy to reminisce quite a lot. And not only that, but with each question he answered, he was actually taking his time and that was eating up into Obama's time. My take on this? He was doing this on purpose, so Obama wouldn't get a chance to follow up on whatever issue they were taking on at the moment. Read More »

The vice presidential debate

And now here's my take on the vice presidential debate with Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. Once again, they were on the same stage and the audience would again remain silent...Except for their applause when welcoming Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. They seemed happy to finally meet each other and they shook hands. "Can I call you Joe?" Palin asked Biden. "Sure." he replied. Note that these quotes may not be accurate. This debate was not very much different than the presidential debate. But like McCain, Palin was smiling a lot. Well, it's not bad to smile, but at first she seemed a little star-struck when meeting Biden, but when the debate started, she in a word, went on the attack. And Biden counterattacked. This debate was not as intense as the first presidential debate. In fact, there were certain times when everyone in the room would laugh at one of the candidates' jokes. Nevertheless, Palin also veered off-subject when asked a question and sometimes, she failed to answer the questions at all! Meanwhile, Biden was doing much better than Palin. In fact, he pointed out to Palin that McCain and her seemed to think that "Drill drill drill" (In other words, offshore oil drilling) was the answer to solve the economy's problems with dealing with high prices. Feel free to correct me in a comment about the issue if I am wrong. "Drill baby drill" was Palin's way of correcting Biden as to how they 'pronounced this phrase'. Read More »

The first presidential debate

Okay, basically, here's what happened during the first presidential debate from my point of view. Barack Obama and John McCain met and Barack extended his hand to McCain for a handshake. They shook hands. The audience promised to remain silent during this debate, except for an applause when Obama and McCain came onstage. Then, the debate began. I was watching it on CNN news with my Mom. All through the debate, Obama kept a cool head, while clashing with McCain on the issues which were presented to them. But John McCain it seems was getting quite upset. He was trying hard not to laugh when Obama was speaking. And he scoffed at least four times as Barack was answering the questions or doing a follow-up. But one time when Obama was talking, I specifically heard John McCain retort and I quote: "Oh, please!". And right after that, I heard a gasp from the audience even after they said they would be quiet. They must have been quite shocked and taken aback by McCain's sudden outburst-like remark. Nevertheless, the moderator did not seem to notice this. And when the debate was over, Barack Obama had to extend his hand to McCain again before they would shake hands. My take on this first debate? I think that McCain was trying very hard to get Obama upset, but alas it was not working. And John instead ended up getting himself all worked up. And so ended the first presidential debate-battle.
