I sent in my Declaration of Candidacy and Pledge of Support forms into Oklahoma Democratic Headquarters Friday showing Obama as my candidate.
I did so for the following reasons:
i believe Obama is our future and the best candidate for these troubled times.
James M. Fullerton, State Delegate
With only one name on the Michigan Democratic Ballot you can get a real sense of how a candidate might do in a general election. With only 60% of Democrats favoring the one candidate you wonder what the other 40% and more were thinking. The uncommitted were probably those Yellow Dog Democrats who vote in every election regardless of candidate but who wanted to vote for another person. Also, in Michigan, it is to my understanding, Democrats can vote on the Republican ticket. So an unknown number of the Democrats voted for a Republican.
If we don't change the name our nominee for President; the Michigan results will probably apply to Oklahoma and Democrats will vote for the Republican nominee or an Independant candidate.
Lets get out there and change things!
The scheduled event was merged with the Comanche County Democrat meeting. A number of Obama supporters were there and participated. John Kinslow, local attorney, gave a presentation on behalf of Obama. Bumper stickers were handed out and we answered a number of questions about where to get campaign stuff (store) and what activities were going on on a statewide basis.
With endorsment of Sen. Kerry, it looks to me the long established firewall around the Northeast United States is cracking affording Obama with many opportunities for convention delegates from that area.
We discussed the campaign and how far it has come since this time last year; how to obtain campaign materials; handouts on official web sites on the Oklahoma level; when and where on Democrtic meetings this weekend Monday night; need for campaign headquarters here in Lawton. Further meetings between now and Feb 5 will be announced.

Okiebamas in the Lawton area are invited to a watch party for the January 8 election results in NH. It will be at John Kinslow"s office at 522 C Ave in downtown Lawton on the North Side square. Bring a friend!
Caught Barack twice on CNN in prime time Thursday. One time was Barack with Wolf Blitzer and the other was Barack's Economic Advisor. OB had some appropriate remarks about Bhutto's death, but then he evaluated both the near term and the long term effects and the actions he would take if he were president. Same for the Economic Advisor. He discussed the current mortgage crises but also discussed the long term effect of the credit card crunch and possible actions B could take to ease the problems.
The current president appears to be sending the Secretary of State with a bucket reactions to the Middle East to put out fires that have gotten of control. The same for the current financial crunch. No long term planning or vision but misguided and expensive money patches that seem to have no real value to the real economy.
This isn't your grandfather's campaign folks. Nobody is going to come down from Oklahoma Cityy with a truckload of yard signs, bumper stickers and hand outs. There isn't time and distribution is too expensive. You need to take action now if you want to have your stuff before the first election. I would suggest that you click on the Get Involved button above and then click on the Obama Store button and get your order in right now. It will cost you money.......but that gives the campaign with more money for TV ads and such. Order some for your friends.
