It has bothered me that so many people that are against Obama have a common complaint. . .. They continually say, "He talks aobut change, but never says how he is going to do it. He doesn't provide specifics." This astounds me as Obama has stated in numerous debates and roundtables that he will have a bi-partisan cabinet to bring Unity to the White House. This would be a cabinet built on strengths and not party allegience.
He has also stated countless times that all policy making will be transparent such as national health care. He would have all meetings shown on C-Span, instead of done behind closed doors with lobbyists and special interests. This way the American People would be able to hold their government accountable and have the opportunity to see policy being made.
Another thing that he strongly supports is getting rid of the petty politics of attacking each other and instead recognizing ideological differences and while maintaining true to the core democratic philosophy finding common ground with everyone that rises above deviseness. An example is abortion. While he is pro-choice, he recognizes that Republicans and Democrats both want fundamentally the same thing . . . . . to reduce unwanted pregnancy thus eliminating the woman having to make such a moral decision. Thus instead of debating who is right and who is wrong, he would lead the discussion to this common ground and come up with policy that enables proper education and resources to prevent conception and perserve the sancity of human life. This is what he means by the politics of distraction. To move discussions further we need to focus less on what we don't agree on and more on what can really be beneficial to causing change.
I hope as Obama supporters are on different blogs in different media outlets that they voice actual examples and help educate those less informed. It is discouraging when you read attack after attack against Clinton, instead of positive reasons that support Obama's position. I do not want to be lowered to her level. Obama is an outstanding candidate and this needs to be the message! Through educating, more voters will be persuaded. Through negativity, these people's bias will be reinforced.
