Slave registration

I have and still do support Barack. I'm not impressed though by his and Nancy Pelosi's expressed concerns about womens' issues while there is still a male only slave registration. In fact Pelosi, who resents discrimination against people like herself has stated that she favors keeping the anti male policies of the selective slavery system. I suppose like many feminists she feels that discrimination against women justifies discrimination against men, even their own sons. With that kind of logic would she say that discrimination against men justifies discrimination against women? The rationale behind justification of any kind of discrimination tends to be very self serving.

Tax revenue

With the price of oil down so low now might be a good time to start raising the gasoline tax to fund energy conversion projects. Also, if pot gets decriminalized each state could start taxing weed at say $20 per ounce. The income would be in the billions and would free the DEA to go after serious problems like meth and heroin and quit wasting time busting people for weed. Besides, I've long felt a large part of the drug problem is that once people find out the government is lying about weed they tend to presume they're also lying about the really ugly things like crack etc.

Experience

McSame has been running ads in Florida challengeing Barack's experience when dealing with the financial crisis. I'd like him to explain what all of Bush and Cheney's experience did for us. I tried to ask that on his website but they apparently don't let us regular schmucks post blogs there.

Equal pay?

I'm not quite sure what the deal is with demanding equal pay for women. Every place I've worked the women were paid the same as men. In fact being male was sometimes a liability when it came to promotion, especially when I worked at the Post Office in the late 80's. And if gender discrimination is such a concern to American Women why do I never hear any criticism of the male only slave registration which Nancy Pelosi has specifically said she supports?

Affirmative

I'm pleased to be a Democrat but uneasy with it's tolerance of affirmative action. If it's such a good way to make up for past discrimination let's have a women only slave registration (draft registration for those of you who don't quite get it) to make up for past discrimination of male students. Remember when you filled out your student loan application? Then we could just mark the box "I am male" and leave women to suffer the blatent disrespect at the hands of politicians who have sons instead of daughters. I don't really care for that idea though. I'd just as soon end the discrimination by either including women or dropping slave registration all together.

Tire pressure

Know what? I checked the pressure in my tires a couple weeks ago and added about 3 pounds per tire. My gas mileage has improved by about 1&1/2 mpg's.

Social Security

I'm surprised there isn't more attention paid to Barack's idea of avoiding raising the retirement age by increasing the income level on which social security contributions are made. Right now anyone making over about $100,000 per year pays a lower percentage of their income in Soc Sec taxes than those of us making less. In fact, the larger their income the lower their percentage of contribution. Interesting !! So why are so many focusing on McCain's attack ads instead? Who are these airheads who are even willing to condone such nonsense?

Military Slavery (draft registration)

I'm sickened by the post of Ms Cyprah calling for military slavery with of course only males being subjected to it. I'm reminded of the midwestern girls I knew in the 60's and 70's who resented discrimination against women but considered discrimination against people like me and my friends to fall under the heading of "that's different." Ms Cyprus sounds like such chickenhawks who want to sit around and talk about what's fair to do to other people. Strange how they never intend to include themselves. How about a women only slave registration for awhile? We could call it "affirmative action." That way chickenhawks like Nancy Pelosi who support a male only slave registration would have to inflict their atrocities on people they actually care about such as Chelsea Clinton and Jenna Bush instead of just 18 year old males.

Patriot uproar

As usual the Repubs are trying to slander their opponent's patriotism to distract focus from real issues. Some of you might remember Dukakis having to deal with that while talk of education, the economy, foreign affiars etc all got pushed to the back burner as the Repubs argued that their guy believed more in the pledge of allegiance. Who are these people who even allow themselves to be swayed by such crap? Apparently there are a lot of them out there and they vote too.

Remember when Bush said that his tax cuts for the super rich would be so good for the economy? Guess it didn't work so well. Now McCain wants even more of them when we're already the largest debtor nation in the world. The rich get richer while the middle class is joining the ranks of the working poor. I'm glad Barack wants to end tax deductions for the expense of sending jobs overseas.

Tampa rally

Hillary's scorched earth

I think Hillary has taken the philosophy that it will be her or no democrat at all. If she can trash Barack's chances of winning the election she'll be saying "I told you so" to position herself for a 2012 run. I think I've seen enough of the "real Hillary" to say I'd never vote for her for anything.

Actually, I don't think Barack would like to hear it but I'm so put off by Hillary's "scorched earth" policy I couldn't vote for her under any circumstance. The only chance of that would be if Barack held his nose long enough to ask her to run as his veep. I hope he doesn't as I think there are better choices out there although it could be considered a political necessity by some.

Trade agreements

Actually, we're beating up on the wrong people when we complain about free trade deals with Colombia, Canada and Mexico. The real problem is China and their inflexible currency exchange policy. And the other problem is our lust for budget deficits which ultimately de-value the dollar and put us in debt to other countries like China. So we're as much a part of the problem as they are. We have met the enemy and he is us.
