Here are wonderful, moving photos of the Obama family during the election night returns. Hope you enjoy them as much as we have. My sister-n-law, after months of deliberation, suddenly changed her mind and decided to vote for Barack when she entered the polling booth. When she forwarded these pictures to us, we knew her heart had been changed. We thank her for being a part of history! ENJOY!

CONGRATULATIONS FIRST LADY, MOMMY-IN-CHIEF Michelle OBAMA!!!
This wonderful awe inspiring moment is so incredible, the Obama Prayer Team has spent most of the last few days in tears of joy!!! My husband threw open our front door, turned on all the outdoor lights and screamed OOBAAMAAA!!
We Love You! We Admire You!! We Support You!!! And we celebrate the supreme love and demonstrative display of affection our new Commander in Chief, President Elect Obama lavishes upon you. That alone is worth celebrating!!
In all the internet efforts to raise money, we gave what we could as the economy grew worse. I wrote that as a native Washingtonian (of DC), as someone who convinced her husband to turn from republican to Obama and then watch him outcanvass me [and I can be quite the energizer bunny], I'm counting on being invited to the White House. I'm counting on vising you and the girls. We took a picture with the cardboard Barack, and my husband lovingly said, "Rita, wait to take a picture when we see him in person."
Years ago as I campaigned for Sharon Pratt, the first African American woman to become Mayor of the District of Columbia - [her slogan was 'Yes We Can'] - I took my daughters with me. My baby girl was about 2 years old and everyone in town remembered me as the lady who campaigned with the baby on her hip. She now attends UDC and spent her summer working on Capital Hill.
First Lady, I just want to let you know that we are encouraged, proud, and somehow elevated as people, as women, as mothers and families because of this victory. The eloquence you and your awesome husband have brought to the forefront is astoundingly transformational. We have had a front row seat to eye witness history and I thank you and your family for making things better, just by your presence in our lives and in history.
We will continuously pray for you and our new President. That's what we do. I hope, as a family, we will be able to visit you.
With Great Joy and Admiration - Rita MaverickNew Home office: 985 Stonington Drive, Arnold, MD 21012http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/ritam/gGx3H2

Monday night, we drove three hours to see Barack in Manassas, Virginia. We had fasted all day and prayed the beautiful prayers written and shared by our prayer group! My cousin, who voted early, saw Obama in Charlotte, North Carolina just a few hours before. Traffic was heavier than usual - Redskins' game, breakdowns, and 90,000+ people headed to the fairgrounds! We took three of our children with us [the others were working or away]. Barack was fabulous. My husband almost cried he was so touched by Barack's words and the courage he displayed as the news of his dear grandmother's passing was still fresh. We were both close to our grandmothers so we really have compasssion for him. Barack told the story of the woman in South Carolina who turned a dreary rainy day into something special when she kept saying to him "Fired Up - Ready to Go!" That's how we felt in Manassas, the night before the election of the century! We felt an urgent sense of purpose - and Fired Up! Ready to Go!
When the event was over - 90,000+ slowly left the fairgrounds, encouraged and determined to vote - no matter the lines, the rain, the wait, no matter what. We got home at 2 am in the morning. On the news, they said as late as one in the morning, people were still inching slowly off the fairground where the last rally before today's election was held. Wow. We had just left Virginia after canvassing all day in Winchester on Saturday and canvassing in Pennsylvania two weeks before. What a week! What a month! What a year!!!
6 am Tuesday morning, I was back in the car, picking up our daughter in DC, checking on my 85 year old father, checking in with my sister, my cousins, my aunts and uncles in Virginia and North Carolina . All was set. We all went to vote. In DC, we stood in a line this morning that wrapped around the block for two hours - it didn't feel like it. Cars honked as people drove by on their way to work. People waved, people screamed "OBAMA. " It was festive. It was emotional. It was transcendent. We were all so happy to be in line for THIS VOTE. I took pictures of my neighbors. We took pictures of the line. We took pictures placing the ballot in the box. My daughter did the electronic thing - this is her very first Presidential Election! She said, "Mommy, I'm so glad this election is my first time." My niece told her mom 'thank you.' She said she finally understood why we had rallied, and argued, and protested, and knocked on doors, and fought so hard all these years. She said we did it so that she, my daughters, our children, all of us could see this day. It was an amazing day.
My father was dressed as if he were going to work. At 85. and a veteran, he's in great shape. He walked briskly to the car and drove himself to vote with great pride and determination [he's at a different precinct than me]. Daddy was so proud of what he had to do today! I know he was proud watching his daughters and his granddaughters going to vote, too. Isn't that what he fought for? Thank you GOD. I witnessed three generations voting all together on this most historic day! It was amazing. Thank you GOD for blessing this process.
Our hearts are filled with PRAISE!! Thank you GOD for the Victory of Barack Obama as the new President-elect of the United States of America - the Whole United States of America. One Nation, under GOD!! We Thank You GOD! Peace to All - Rita

Granted. Government buying up bad loans is good for banks and not so good for taxpayers. No matter how you cut it, someone's not going to be happy. Why not help hurting homeowners by paying off their default arrearage and forcing all banks to lower mortgage interest rates to homeowners across the board. Have a moretoreum on foreclosures for three months and give people a chance to either find new jobs or catch up. Why not? We gave $700 Billion to Wall Street. We gave $85 Billion to AIG, and they spent $440 Million at a Spa! Why not help American HomeOwners in this time of crisis? Does this mean a free ride? No. When the property is sold, the amount of the government 'rescue' should be refunded to the government at settlement plus a predetermined interest fee. The government gets it's money back! The homeowner gets to keep their home!
People who've always paid on time will benefit because their interest rate may be lowered to the new lower rate and their principal should be adjusted to reflect the new value of todays market. That means they will pay less per month and have the benefit of keeping all their capital gains when they sell the property. All it means is in 5 years when things are healthy again - the "good" billpayer will still be ahead because he'll owe the government nothing.
Not all delinquent debt is due to preditory lending. MANY people have lost jobs. Many people are pay check to check and when energy and food prices escalated, they cut back on food and other expenses, yet still couldn't make ends meet. I've heard people say 'they should sell their cars.' If you don't have access to public transportation, your vehicle is your only way to take day jobs and temp jobs. You probably can't afford a car because your payments are late and your credit report is a looks a lot less friendly to lenders.
Look, millions of Americans are in trouble. This is not the time to scold and say you should have known better than to try to buy a house and make a better future for your family.
Home ownership is not a 'right', however, it is a fundamental cornerstone of who we are as Americans. Home values were artificially inflated and people were sold bad paper. Deregulators turned their heads, banks fleeced people with skyrocketing ARMs and preditory loans, Congress slept through oversight, and it seems all the executive and legislative adults were out to lunch.
Now is the time to help HomeOwners out of an ugly place. HomeOwners Need Help! Government helped Wall Street. Help Main Street and Azalea Lane too.
Barack proposed a stimulus. $1000 is a good start. He has to win the Presidency to stimulate the economy by promoting new jobs and the new green industry. He can only win if we vote for him together! I'm proposing this 'Save Your Home' idea to help HomeOwners get to January 2009.
The Palin thing is just a psychological thing - but as you know, some people are absolutely influenced by what they see. Let's let them see we Vote NO to Palin.
